Emmie -- I overheard my father promise my hand in marriage to a man who is so cold I’m not sure he even has a heart. So I did what any young woman would do. I ran. My sister, Federal Agent Lupita Montoya, gave me sanctuary in the US and helped me file the proper paperwork so I could stay indefinitely. Now Lupita is in prison and my time is running out. My father and Ernesto will be coming for me. When Lupita sends me to the Dixie Reapers compound in Alabama, I know they’re my last hope. I just didn’t count on falling for one of them.
Tank -- The hot little Latina I’ve had my eye on for three weeks is in trouble, and the time for waiting is over. I thought I’d claim her, get those Spanish bastards to back off, but then she knocked me off my feet. Emmie is really Emelda Montoya, sister to the woman I chased around Christmas, and someone my club owes a debt. It makes Emmie hands off, but I’ve never been good at backing down, especially when I see something I want. And I want Emmie to be mine. She’s over a decade younger than me, but I’m not going to let something like age stand in my way, and I’m sure as hell not going to let her mobster father get between us. I’ll bury him if I have to, along with that sick bastard, Ernesto.
But the more digging my club does, the more twisted the tale becomes. For the first time in my life, I’m not sure we can handle the trouble that’s landed on our doorstep, but I will die trying to protect the woman I’m falling for, the woman I accidentally knocked up, the woman I call wife.
Warning: Contains some violence and some darker themes. If you’re looking for a sweet read, this isn’t it. There’s melt-your-panties sex and a biker who will stop at nothing to protect the woman he loves.
Harley Wylde is the International Bestselling Author of the Dixie Reapers MC, Devil's Boneyard MC, and Hades Abyss MC series.
When Harley's writing, her motto is the hotter the better -- off the charts sex, commanding men, and the women who can't deny them. If you want men who talk dirty, are sexy as hell, and take what they want, then you've come to the right place. She doesn't shy away from the dangers and nastiness in the world, bringing those realities to the pages of her books, but always gives her characters a happily-ever-after and makes sure the bad guys get what they deserve.
The times Harley isn't writing, she's thinking up naughty things to do to her husband, drinking copious amounts of Starbucks, and reading. She loves to read and devours a book a day, sometimes more. She's also fond of TV shows and movies from the 1980's, as well as paranormal shows from the 1990's to today, even though she'd much rather be reading or writing.

I’m on a Harley Wylde kick, so here’s my review of her MC Romance novel Tank.
Tank starts off with a classic trope: Damsel in Distress. Emelda’s father has arranged her marriage to Ernesto, back in Spain. Both men are human traffickers, drug lords, and exceptionally violent men. Lupita, Emmie’s sister and former federal agent, has gone to jail for the Dixie Reapers MC in order to ensure that they will protect Emmie because they owe her. After some difficulty, Tank and Emmie connect, in more ways than one. Before they know it, they are married and ready to stand against the Ebil interlopers.
I enjoyed this book. The audiobook is about four hours and twenty minutes long (yes, get the 4:20 jokes out of your system. I’ll wait.) and because I don’t often drive more than an hour in any direction, it’s just the right length for me. I enjoy the Dixie Reapers series, mainly because the characters are fun and I like the theme of Found Family. The Reapers enfold Emmie right into the group and because of their protective natures, would have helped her even if Lupita hadn’t taken the fall for them. They are overall a bunch of pretty cool cats. A good Contemporary Romance has characters that seem so real, and this book has that in spades. Emmie is very young and this is evident in her lack of self confidence; however, she is not thoughtless or selfish, and is certainly not bratty. I liked her. And I see where she would grow up to be a strong, confident woman. If she weren’t fictional, of course. Tank is a top-notch Book Boyfriend, strong, capable, and crazy about Emmie with the Instalove. (In case you haven’t noticed, I love the Instalove.) He’s a little less realistic than Emmie because the man never gets irritated with her or gets a zit, but Romance heroes are about fantasy fulfillment, so there you go.
The narration is terrific. I heart Umi Markkanen. She is one of my all time favorite voice actors, right up there with Conor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor. (Not quite up to Troy Duran, but nobody is, Blessed Be His Name). Her style is a little quirky but it isn’t overly cultured or snooty. She talks like real people talk, only better.
I received an advance review copy for free and this is my honest, voluntary review.
TAMED THE BEAST?! This is Tank and Emmie's story. Tank is the Sergeant at Arms for the Dixie Reaper's MC and he is a gorgeous mountain of a man that can make grown men piss themselves. I started Harley's MC series with the Devil's Boneyard MC so I got to know Tank in Jackal's book. Tank's sister Josie is Jackal's old lady which links the Dixie Reaper's and the Devil's Boneyard but there are also many other connections. So in Jackal's book Tank is a man of few words, who will kill to protect his family and not blink an eye but when it come to Emmie he goes from Grizzly bear to Teddy bear. Emmie is Lupita Montoya's younger sister and Emmie is the complete opposite of Lupita. Emmie is a quiet mousey little virgin who has always depended on her sister. Even while Lupita was in prison Lupita was still protecting Emmie. So when Lupita tells Emmie to run and go to the Dixie Reaper's compound and find Tank that they'll protect her. Emmie has got Satan and his Disciple chasing her and if they find her she'll be thrust into a world that nightmares are made of. So when Emmie gets to the compound the prospect at the gate brushes her off and she's to weak to stand up for herself. Tank sees Emmie working at a diner and that's it. He's a goner. She's it for him. When Wire starts working his magic the information surprised the sh*t out of me. The mystery, the suspense and the way Harley pops in little things that connect people in surprising ways. I love it all! I love every minute of it! It gets my blood pumping. Lol! Tank and Emmie make one of the cutest couples ever. I think it's because Emmie is so sweet and innocent and Tank is completely on the other end of the spectrum except with her. I highly recommend series to everyone. I really need a book that brings closure to all the stories. I need to know more about all the couples and their babies so I know who's who in the next generation. Lol!
I cannot believe the level of selfishness Emmie showed. Ok she was only 21 but she was really jaleous of her sister instead of being thankful. She was also so naive it was exhausting. To get upset because she wasn’t sure Tank was her type? Hello? They met just a day before and Lupita precious knowledge was of a guy who was hitting on her. I understand her initial doubts. Tank should have been grateful to Lupita rather than suspicious and dismissive. She after all send Emmie his way. She turns up battered and bruised and is sent in her way without asking questions because she is in the way of their romance? When she got back strung out she was right. An attack was imminent. And again Emmie was selfish. Instead of staying with her and look after her, she left her with the doc because it was too traumatic. She trusted people she just met more than the sister who sacrificed for her. Apart from that they was little character development and action making the book a bit dull.
Emmie was sent to the Dixie Reapers by her sister Montoya. Emmie is in need of help. Her father has contracted to marry her off to an older evil man with nothing but cruelty in his soul. Tank didn’t realize that Emmie was Agent Montoya’s sister till they came for her. But he was not about to let them take her. She may not be a spit fire like her sister but she warmed his heart. No one was taking her.
I love that Montoya is still in the stories. Now her little sister is involved and the Reapers are going to have to help her. I have been waiting for Tank to find someone. There was some serious twists in this story. But then the stories are all getting more intense as we find out how all everything is connected. I was surprised how we go back to the beginning in some of the story. The passion that Tank has for Emmie is as hot as all the Reapers. She wasn’t certain of his interest in her but he was able to show her his love for her in all ways. I was thrilled to read about Casper again. That man is a Ghost. No pun intended. Harley/Jessica, you did it again.
This book was such a wild, gritty, and emotional ride! Tank (Dixie Reapers MC 9) delivers exactly what you’d expect from a biker romance, danger, passion, loyalty, and a whole lot of heat. Emmie’s story pulled me in right from the start. Her courage to escape a life she didn’t choose and find safety (and unexpected love) made her easy to root for. Tank, on the other hand, is every bit the protective, rough-around-the-edges biker you’d hope for, and his devotion to Emmie is intense in the best way.
I listened to the audiobook, and Umi Markkanen was fantastic! She’s narrated this series, and honestly, she’s perfect for it. Her voice really brought the characters to life and added so much depth to the story, I think that’s a big reason I enjoyed this one even more.
The story itself is quick, to the point, and thoroughly entertaining. The chemistry between Tank and Emmie is explosive, and while a few moments felt a bit rushed, it still delivered that gritty, steamy, and loyal biker world vibe I love. A solid four-star listen that keeps the Dixie Reapers energy alive and strong!
Tank knows without a doubt that he's claiming Emmie. Sure, he had a mild infatuation with her Federal Agent sister but Emmie is his and if he has to take down an entire mob and Spanish gang and rain down hell then he'll do it, he'd do it anyways just for fun but Emmie's life depends on it and like I said, he's claiming her. Emmie can't help but be attracted to Tank but she didn't run from one domineering man just to jump into the arms of another one, plus he had a thing with her sister! That's got to be a sin somewhere, right? Besides, with her sister in a prison, Emmie's on a deadline and she'd rather not end up dead or married to a monster her father has pretty much sold her into. The Dixie Reapers once again rally to keep Emmie safe but can they keep her heart safe from Tank?
You will laugh and want to ring Tank's neck then fall in love with Tank all over again. This is a must read! Hot Hot Hot!
POV: Your dad basically sold you off into forced marriage with a monster, so you fled. And this scary biker came to your rescue …
Written in alternating, first-person POV. Past tense.
Packs: Organized crime. Trafficking. Age-gap romance. Bikers, everywhere. He falls first. She’s ‘on the lamb’, till he saves her. V!rg|n heroine. New adult - she’s 21. She’s curvy. Unplanned pregnancy. Light br33ding.
Overall: Most of Wylde’s books are a ‘you’ve read one, you’re read them all’ type deal, and I do not mean this in a negative way at all. They just tend to pack very similar vibes and hit many of the same tropes and sorta go the same way. This one stood out a bit, as the drama that it packed was a little more complex and a bit different—it was fun!
4 stars.
🎧 Audio: Fantastic—one narrator who manages to basically make it sound full-cast. 5 stars.
A great addition to the series! Emelda "Emmie" Montoya is sweet and put in a dangerous situation by someone who should always protect her. I love how Zach "Tank" steps in and does right by her in so many ways before even knowing her name.
If I couldn’t even get past the guy at the gate, how did I have a prayer of getting to see Tank? -- Emmie Montoya
The push and pull between them kept me trying to hurry the book along while also slowing down and savoring it. A bit of a conundrum. Hehehe....
I always love the comings and goings of past and future characters. It's a good reason to read the books in order, but you could read as a standalone.
There are still unanswered questions surrounding Emmie's sister, Lupita, that'll hopefully get answered soon enough.
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is Umi Markkanen. She has narrated dozens of books that I've listened to and always does a fine job.
Emelda (Emmie) Montoya's father has her marrying Ernesto, a man as cold-hearted and violent as her dad. She has come to understand that they are drug lords, human traffickers and horribly violent. Emmie's sister, Lupita, is a former federal agent who sends her to Dixie Reapers MC and Tank. Tank was interested in Lupita in the past, but when he sees Emmie, she's it for him. When it comes out who she really is and who has been sent to return her to where she belongs, Tank lets his feelings and his sense of duty take over to save the woman he loves. The narration was impeccable and Umi Markkanen's voice has just the right timbre, pronunciation and pace to bring each of the characters to life.
Emmie leaves Mexico to escape being married to a terrible criminal. Her sister sends her to the Dixie Reapers MC for protection. I love reading about Montoya(sister to Emmie) who is a former FBI agent. Tank falls in love with Emmie. They get married and starts a family. Montoya is found at the gates of MC addicted to drugs and not happy that Tank is married to her sister. I love reading how the author integrated the other members of the Dixie Reapers in this story.
Emmie goes to the Dixie Reapers by her sister for protection. She is turned away at the gates, so Emmie makes her way into town and gets a job. She gets a job as a waitress in a dinner. Tank finds himself going to the diner to eat, just so he could see Emmie. Tank has no idea that she had come to the club to look for him because her sister had sent . When trouble shows up for Emmie Tank steps in but discovers who she is.
Another 5 star instant love mc romance. Tank and Emmie. She is on the run from a future violent arranged marriage. Can Tank keep her safe? A fast paced, very steamy read.
I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. It is narrated by one of my favorite presenters, Umi Markkanan. Very pleasant to listen to. She brings the characters to life. 5 stars for her as well.
Okay l, this book was pure goodness and deliciousness, Tank surprised me the most! I did not expect him to be so sweet and gentle, at the beginning of the series, I thought he was a jerk basically through out the whole series but he made me eat my words. These Dixie Reapers guys are getting more mushy and loveable, I love It! 5 Stars all the way!
I just finished Tank a truly fantastic story. I love all of them but waited till last book to write a review. For anyone who loves M.C books these are a must read. I couldn't put them down. I would like to ask if Wire will get his HE A i hope so. Thanks for such great stories.
with quite an intriguing storyline. This novella could easily have been expanded, without detriment to the characters, all the information was there meaning the story flowed well. However, it just felt rushed and this, in turn, lost the potential for an even greater tale .
Love this series, love this Author. Amazing characters, inspired story. Can't wait for the next book in this series. Always a one click. Don't even have to read the blurb to these books. I just know that they're going to be awesome.
Tank has found the woman who will make his life complete. But he didn't know who she was and what drama she would bring to the Reapers. But, like always when a Reaper finds his woman they fight to make sure they are safe.
Tank would go to a diner to eat just so he could see Emmie he had no clue that she had come to the club to look for him because her sister had sent her. This was an amazing book. Tank is a protective guy and he wanted to take care of Emmie. They had lots to over come. This series is amazing
Love the series. A bit confused now on what is going to happen with Emmies sister. I will have to commit to reading the companion series to figure out some of these people. Over all good book quick easy read.
Excellent. When you know you know, and nothing will keep you apart from the other part of your soul. Its just a shame your sister needs help and you can no longer trust her. You have to trust the men you have around to do whats in her best interest. First class.
Now that’s what I needed. I love it when the H falls hard and fast and fights for his lady, ok Emmy didn’t exactly make Tank work very hard but I still loved his total devotion from day one.
