Stan Lyamin has seen many of his dreams come true. He’s found his soulmate, loves Noah like his own, hoisted the Cup, and has his Mama living with him in his new country. But his fantasies of a loud, loving, madcap home overflowing with childish laughter linger. When a distant family member passes, Stan and Erik immediately agree to take in the two orphaned children, but that means a trip back to Russia for Stan, an idea that both exhilarates and terrifies him.

Erik’s world tilts on its axis when a phone call wakes him and Stan in the middle of the night. Abruptly, Stan is returning to Russia, making deals, working with people who know people, and fully intending to bring two orphaned children home. The red tape is overwhelming, and Erik is alone in Harrisburg with the nearly impossible task of finding a nanny who can speak fluent Russian. Being on his own is one thing, but add in fears about Stan’s safety and team issues, and Erik is finding everything hard to balance; not least of which is spending quality time with Noah.

When their family expands from three to five, the journey won’t be easy, but love can always find a way.

This was sweet and funny and warm. Stan and Erik are together with their mix of family under Stan's large roof. But just as they seem to be safely established, a call from Russia changes things, disrupting that pattern. There are two orphaned children whose guardianship has been left to Stan, if he can safely go and get them, and make the new larger family work.

I love the way Stan is written - a dance between the broken English he still speaks, and his POV representing his thoughts in a coherent way that doesn't conflict with that. So well done, injecting moments of humor even into the tension. And Stan's huge heart is on display throughout the story. The plot has an edge of tension, as an out gay man prepares for a trip to Chechnya, intending to be allowed to bring home Russian children, but it doesn't descend into melodrama.

As much as I love all the warmth, I was hoping for just a little more real drama, particularly in fitting two deprived and traumatized children into a family where Noah has reigned as the sole prince so far. Things went more smoothly than I would have anticipated, and some of the hard choices that might have arisen were passed by. Arguments I anticipated didn't come to pass.

Still, I really enjoy this series, and the chance to spend time with some of my favorite guys, to chuckle and sigh and smile, made this a very sweet and welcome read.

This is the 8th addition to the Harrisburg railers series from RJ Scott and VL Locey and not a stand-alone: better read this series about a Hockey Team in order. This is a sport romance, with more romance than sports, featuring one player after the other.

This time, we got a low-angst and nicely fluffy novella to revisit one of my most preferred couple: Stan, the huge teddy bear, and Erik, the caring worrier. Life is still good for them but they have to get prepared for the addition of 2 new persons in their family nest.

Some hot moments, some hilarious moments (yes, Stan is still funnily a fan of Elvis), some sweet moments with Stan and Erik and their extended family and Hockey friends. I’m a fan of this series and greatly enjoyed catching up with all these characters that RJ Scott and VL Locey so nicely imagined and wrote about. I was not disappointed and spent a good time with this "family reunion".

I am so bigly in love with this wonderfully glad story of much love between Erik and Stan, their happy little bunny Noah and Eva and Pavel from the mother country Russia.

Add in sparkly red tuxedos, Elvis Presley ("the greatest rock and roll singer in all of American history") and big bear hugs as Stan "gathered them all into a bear hug, down on one knee, my arms filled with the wonderful hat trick of children that now filled my life. " So stinkin' sweet and full of love. 5 stars.

More Stan in Hat Trick! I'm not going to say no to more of Stan and his family. In Hat Trick, Stan adopted two more children from Russia. It melt my heart reading about Stan and Erik's love for their new family members. But my favourite part of this novella is the treat at the end with all of Elvis' glitter glory. I'm not going to give away more, just know that if you are a fan of Stan and Erik, this is a must read. We also get a bit of Ten and I'm counting down the days till the next novella for Ten and Jared.

I love Stan. There's not much more to say other than this wee little trip into the lives of Stan and Erik is utterly fabulous.

There're enough tensions to surround the narrative as Stan has to return to Russia, Chechnya in particular, to collect two orphan children who have been left to him following the death of their guardian - a cousin of the big Railers' goalie.

Erik worries, Mama and Galina fret, Noah is confused as to what's going on but eventually the new additions come back to America and a new life begins for this little family.

The ending is beyond wonderful and I love everything about this series.

Goalies aren't suppose to score much less get a 'hat trick'...

right? Well no one told this to Stan and he's about to score the 'Hat Trick' to end all 'Hat Tricks' but honestly it's not on the ice.

I adore Stan and Erik, along with Erik's son Noah and Stan's mom and sister the family they're creating is so much fun to spend time with but now with the ringing of a phone things are about to change in ways that neither Stan or Erik had anticipated...wanted but hadn't quite anticipated yet.

Stan's heading back to Russia to collect his cousin's orphaned children and bring them back to America to become a part of the 'someday' family that he and Erik want to have...only, someday maybe wasn't suppose to be quite so soon.

I loved how Stan and Erik just did this...there was no should we? shouldn't we? this is family and they need a home so yes, there were logistics to deal with but doing it, giving these two children a home was never a decision to be made but that's not to say that there weren't concerns...Stan's gay and he's in a relationship with a man...it's not a secret and Stan's heading back to Russia...not a great place to go if you're gay...but he knows people.

So while it's stressful for Stan having to go back to Russia and for Erik having the man he loves travel to a place that's maybe not the safest place for him to be on his own no matter how big of a bear he is. What there isn't is a lot of unnecessary drama...me likey!

The focus of this story was Stan and Erik and while each man had their own pressure to deal with to make this happen they did it and they did it as a couple...no added drama or 'miscommunications' just a couple working together to make something that needed to happen...happen. Actually it wasn't even just a couple because Stan's mom was right there to do her part and Stan's sister totally stepped in to help as well because hey, this is what family does.

I adore this series it's just so easy to get into and as much as I love Stan and Erik or Ten and Mads, I'd love more about the other characters we've met as well...like...Layton and Adler, Trent and Dieter, Max and Ben or one of my other personal favorites Bryan and his tattoo artist Gatlin...more about any or all of these men would not be amiss in my world.

Sometimes it comes down to screw the angst and conflict and extra drama I just want something with characters who make me smile and stories that keep making me smile and leave me feeling like my world's a little bit of a better place and the 'Harrisburg Railers' do that for me.

Stan and Erik’s family grows when 2 of Stan’s family members are orphaned in Russia and there’s no one else to take them in.

Stan loves his family and always does the right thing. There was never any question of bringing these kids to America. Erik supported him, doing what he could to prepare for the new kids.

This was a great addition to the series. It had its sweet moments and because it’s Stan, some hilarious ones as well.

Looking forward to more Railers’ stories.

This story was wonderful!
It made me grin like an idiot, shed some tears, laugh out loud and sigh loudly at all the emotions it put me through. We all love our Railers family. So many were in this book and I so enjoyed visiting with them all. Sometimes, when reading a huge series of books like this is a part of, you sometimes forget certain personality traits. Let me tell you I remembered them all. A few times I sighed and said " Ah Stan, you just make me love you more big guy!" The love that Stan and Erik have for each other, Noah , Mama, Galina and the rest of their extended family shines through so clearly in this book. I am not sure how the authors do it but they keep coming up with things that just tickle me NO end.
This is a MUST read to all of us who have read the previous books and blog posts. Hopefully new fans will discover this story, fall in love with our guys and decide that they just HAVE to read the previous stories. I am so looking forward to what comes next.
I HIGHLY recommend this book!

Giants with big hearts…

Stan and Erik are (one of my) favourite couples in a favourite hockey series. Erik quietly and confidently supports his gentle giant husband as they play, love and raise a family together. They are strong yet unbelievably sweet and play great hockey! When they are off the ice, however, their family is at the heart of their life… And when the chance of more comes around, they can’t help but take it regardless of the obstacles…

And obstacles there were! Adopting is never easy but throw in a not so friendly country to deal with, frightened kids, and uncertain family, well, that made for a roller coaster of emotions. My heart took a beating as Stan and Erik dealt with it all, together… Stan’s single-mindedness to do his best for everyone just melts me every time. His amusing speech and the love that shines through, well… Erik is one lucky guy!

Another fantastic read in this series!

Einfach lesen!

Release Day Review! I love this series, each story is wonderful and always makes me smile. This installment primarily revolves around Stan and Erik and their family. No spoilers, but if you're a fan of the series, you really can't miss this one! It needs to be said that this is not a stand-alone book, if you haven't read the previous books, you'll be kind of lost at quite a few turns, so read in order! :-) One tiny spoiler-ish note.... there is a scene with Stan and Layton that had me HOWLING with laughter! Only lovable Stan could complete flummox Layton!! There are plenty of glimpses of the past MC's and a lovely update on Ten! Now, to see what comes next!!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the eighth book in the series - and is a cheeky, funny, sweet and sexy addition to the goodness that is the Harrisburg Railers. I would definitely recommend that you read the other books in the series first, as this is very much a story for fans. As a hint, we get to see how Ten is doing, as well as catching up on cup prospects.

Although Stan's time in Russia led to some nervous moments, thankfully that is not the main feature of the story. No, rather we get to see the family dynamics, the impact on their concentration in the game and how they help two orphaned children start a new life. There are some very sweet moments and some very funny ones.

It's good to get some ice time and watch the team find their feet again. But the best bit of all, indulging Stan's Elvis obsession, you will have to find out about yourself!

While I'm the first to admit I haven't read all of the Harrisburg Railers books, I enjoyed this one a lot. Stan and Erik have an established relationship and live with Noah and Stan's mother. Everything changes when Stan leaves for Russia to pick up two orphaned kids after his cousin was killed in a motorcycle accident. As their lives mesh, leaving both of the men stressed and feeling hopeless at times, they come together as a family. It's a sweet, loving story and I loved it!!

Oh how I love Stan, with his beautiful broken English and giant heart. And Erik, with his tenderness and equally giant heart. These two are beautiful together, they’re beautiful as parents to Noah. And add in Eva and Patel and this really is the perfect hat trick and the perfect family.

Stan and Erik are living the good life with Noah and Stan's Mama. Late one night Stan gets a call from a cousin in Russia that said another cousin has passed away and left two orphans in his care. Stan is worried about going back to Russia but isn't going to let that stop him from going and getting the kids. Eva and Ravel are scared and feeling pretty lost when Stan shows up in Russia to pick them up. Erik is at home trying to get the house ready for two new arrivals, a nanny that speaks Russian, keeping his head in the game at practice and spending time with Noah, not to mention not worrying about Stan in Russia.

After Stan gets back home with the kids they all realize there's still things that have to be done. The state sends a caseworker to check up on the home situation and a tutor is needed since Ravel doesn't understand/speak much English. There's a learning curve for all involved when bringing new members into the family.

There's a totally hilarious scene when Stan goes to talk to Layton and ends up embarrassing Layton royally. There's also a scene where Stan and his mother get into a disagreement that is cringe worthy and funny at the same time. All the cast of characters from the whole series gets a little time to shine and it's very heart warming in the case of Ten. This book goes from lovable and sweet to hilarious in the span of a few chapters.

I whole heartedly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all that love RJ Scott and VL Locey. It has a little of everything to go around. I barely finished reading the ARC when I knew I had to buy a copy.

Stan and Eric get a call that changes their world. Two children, distant relatives of Stan’s, need their help. Stan braves a trip to Russia to collect his new family. Eric can do nothing but wait for his love to return to him.

I love the Railers stories. One that features Stan is a wonderful bonus. Of course Eric, Ten and Mads are along for the ride. A short book that manages to feature all of the family, a pink flamingo room, Elvis finery, and lots and lots of love. Stan’s zest for life fills every page with delight. In Stan speak I think it would be “Happy Most”.

5 out of 5 stars

This entire series has been wonderful. Each book has been a wonderful story about wonderful characters that I have devoured! This story was no exception - and it might have been my new favorite!

Stan is so stinkin’ cute! He’s adorable and the way that Erik loves him - and he loves Erik - just makes the story so much better. I laughed out loud at his silly. I cried tears of sorrow for his pain. I cried tears of joy for his happiness. If there is an emotion you can experience, it’s more than likely I experienced it while reading this story!

I don’t want to give away any of the plot points because that’s one of my favorite parts about this book is that I didn’t know what to expect next so I’ll just say that I HIGHLY recommend this book and this series for anyone looking to really indulge in an amazing read!!!

I adore Stan. He makes me laugh and he makes my heart so very happy. From the first page, this book had me engaged and it took no time at all to finish. Erik and Stan showed just how big their hearts are and all that they have to share with the world. This series has become one if my favorites of all time and I just wish it never had to end!!!

I loved Hat Trick. Gobbled up the story. I love anything with Stan and Erik. Stan just makes you want to be around him, even vicariously through a book. Their story is so sweet and I loved them getting their own second story. Stan’s love for Elvis makes me smile, and I love all of the Elvis in this story. Their family is sweet and I love how much support Stan’s family gives to them. Erik is the perfect foil to Stan and I love their chemistry. I definitely recommend this story, the whole Harrisburg Railers series, actually.

The Harrisburg Railers series is a favorite of mine, and Stan is far and away my favorite character in the series. I loved his and Erik’s story in Poke Check, so getting an update on their lives and a new twist to their family situation was a treat. In addition, we get to see all the other guys from the team, and new information on Ten that will make fans of the series very happy indeed!

Stan’s quaint way of speaking gets me every time, and his quirky mind and some of the things he comes up with just kept a smile on my face throughout this story. And Erik—the sweetheart—goes right along with him, and their love is even more obvious now than it was the first time around.

The majority of the book is relatively angst-free; honestly I thought the only part that was a bit stressful was Stan’s trip back to Russia to pick up the kids. But you know…Stan KNOWS people. So as ominous as the trip may have seemed, I was pretty confident that part would work out fine.

But the fact that there wasn’t really any conflict does mean that a lot of the story is day-to-day stuff with the guys, so I have to admit my mind did wander just a tad. There were also some points when even I got a little tired of Stan’s exceedingly overdone way of talking…but because he’s Stan I overlooked that in the end.

A solid 4 stars for Hat Trick…just know before reading this that it really doesn’t stand alone—you should have at the very least read Poke Check before starting this one, and ideally have read the entire series in order so you are up to date on all of the guys’ situations. And as with the rest of the books in this series, this one is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content (when the guys could sneak it in!).

This was an absolutely delightful read. If you're fed up with pain and strife in your books, then have a read of Hat Trick. It becomes even more obvious in this book that Stan and Eric are just meant for each other. They've built a home where love and gentleness comes first every time.

It's a story full of emotion, with love on every page, brilliantly funny, poignant (when Stan visits Russia 😥) and rich in family and friends. It was lovely to revisit with the Railers, especially Ten and Jared. The interaction and dialogue between all of the characters was effortlessly done, it was apparent that the authors know and love their personalities well.

The developing interaction between Stan, Eric, Noah and the newcomers is very well written, you just know that a bond of love is going to develop that will become all embracing .... I really could go on and on!

Enough to say that it's a happy read that'll make you both smile and sigh. It'll certainly provide a few hours of feel-good lasting way beyond the final page. I highly recommend that you read the whole series, if you haven't already done so. Well worth the wait 😍

4.5 stars - My favorite Russian goalie is back! I loved Stan from day one, so another story about him and Erik and their expanding family is a total win for me. These authors have created a team of guys you can’t help but love, so it is fabulous to see them all again here and there, as many have forged strong friendships and bonds over the years. It really warms my heart to see the love Stan and Erik have found with each other, their families and now their own growing one. Two more children are brought into the fold when a relative in Russia leaves them to Stan. It was pretty scary, and I was holding my breath a bit, when he traveled back to Russia to retrieve them. I just kept reminding myself, just as Erik did, that Stan “knew people” and everything would be ok.

Beyond that, the men have the difficulties of adjusting to their new numbers, the language barrier (mostly for Erik not knowing Russian), making sure Noah wasn’t having issues with not being an only child, and of course, their jobs which require them to be away at the same time for practice as well as travel games. It is a lot to juggle, to be sure, but they have help and the support of their friends and teammates. Stan’s English is definitely improving, though I have to say that disappoints me a tiny bit. I love all the Stanisms and hope he hangs on to a little bit of that. And don’t worry, even with the added family stress, these guys find moments of smexy time.

This wouldn’t be a Railers story without a little hockey action, and there’s a big bonus in this segment, but I’ll leave it at that. Suffice to say, there was a lot in this story to make me smile and warm my heart. I have been thoroughly enjoying this series and don’t think I’ll ever tire of seeing the various players. I’m already looking forward to the next installment!

I loved visiting with these guys again.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of reading stories in the world of the Harrisburg Railers. While Hat Trick is a novella length story it still delivers a very satisfying tale with lots of humor and a nice amount of depth.

Hat Trick really isn't a standalone story so I don't suggest jumping into the series here. Don't be intimidated by the fact that this is a series about hockey players. I am absolutely not a sports fan, of any kind, but I still love everything about the Harrisburg Railers books. It's a wonderful series and I don't think you'll be sorry if you start from the beginning.

Stan and Erik have to adjust to the unexpected addition of two new family members who, for the most part, only speak Russian. I love that one of them is female and of the age that might present challenges for her new dads to deal with. 😊

Stan is, well Stan, and the story is filled with lots of his delicious and witty sayings and broken English. If you are a fan of this series you won't want to miss this one that also provides a wonderful bit about Ten and how he is doing.

RJ and V.L. have given fans another fantastic story with Hat Trick.

I love Stan and his outlook on life. In this one we see him do what is needed to make his new charges feel at home. His infectious personality arrives all the way through this one. I love his and Erik’s relationship. They are so I tune with each other.

The inclusion of the extra children was done well and showed everyone’s different personalities and how they came together to be a family
