Mediterranean Diet Named the Best Way to Get Healthy in 2019Here are the Main Reasons

The diet can help with weight loss, heart health, and diabetes prevention.
It's more than a diet, it's a lifestyle. The Mediterranean approach to food is a way of eating that includes balanced, whole foods, and is a way of planning meals and snacks that take into account seasonal products. You can find most foods at your local grocery store and farmers’ markets.
Brandon Hearn seems like a real scummy dude, if I’m being honest. My mom bought this book as she was advised by her doctor to go on the Mediterranean diet and needed a book that would educate her on what the diet is and how to follow it. This was not that book. A quick (and I cannot emphasize quick enough) skim through and I realized this book had no editor, no publisher, there are no numbers in the table of contents (pages might not be numbered at all, that I do not remember for sure) and the beginning of the book is almost unreadable between the absurd amount of typos and, at best, 9th grade grammar and organization. I asked her where she even found a book like this, she said it was a top pick on amazon. So, I looked him up and it was. This particular book has 4.5 stars on amazon with a surprising number of anonymous reviews, as in there was no account linked to it, and the ones that did have accounts only had reviews for his books. Which were, of course, all 5 stars with raving reviews. So... I’ll let you draw your own conclusions here... but I told my mom she was scammed.
A Mediterranean Diet may be healthy and an inspiration for weight loss and healthy eating, but this cookbook is a joke. If you want to make the recipes enticing, photographs of the dishes (preferable color photographs) are a must! And, I don’t mean postage-sized photographs...full page. The paper and binding on the cookbook does not assist a home cook who needs the book open while following a recipe. It just adds more frustration when the pages flop all over the place.
And, especially, even though it says you don’t have to follow calories, I am here to say, in my humble opinion, you do need nutritional information if you want to access your daily/weekly nutritional goals. Another sticking point: the table of contents does not list page numbers and there is no index.
Obviously, I haven’t tried any of the recipes because the book frustrates me no end. So, I cannot vouch for the quality of the recipe.
I just read Mr. Hearn's book and found it helpful, towards making an initial shopping list and to know what foods to avoid. As an FYI and being half-Greek, the people from Crete are not called a "Crete" but a "Cretan". As many other reviewers commented, I was surprised by how many typos I saw on pages 7, 10, 44, 50, 77, 80, 92, 93, 96 and 98. I wondered why his proof reader didn't catch these, before the book went to print. Hopefully, the corrections will appear on the next printing. The unchecked mistakes don't make for a very good first impression. Mr. Hearn stated the Mediterraneans usually bake and grill their foods, instead of frying. But, many of the recipes called for skillet cooking of meats and vegetables. I do appreciate Mr. Hearn's efforts, his impressive background and the encouraging suggestions of new ingredients. I am excited to try these recipes, towards a healthier and slimmer me and my family in 2020 and beyond.
The recipes were only loosely based on the Mediterranean diet, in my opinion. There were also a lot of spelling and grammar errors in the beginning text. Such as the word “and” appearing where it should have been “an”, or “win” when the word should have been “wine”.
Not only did Brandon explain the benefits of this lifestyle, he gave your ways to substitute the foods we eat for healthier foods. And then, the icing on the cake, Recipes! I have tried a few and love them. I am now waiting for my next book , the cook book.
I have not made any of the recipes yet, but I am looking forward to trying them soon! I like that there are pictures - recipes (or cookbooks) without pictures lose my interest pretty quickly. There are a lot of glaring typos. Not the end of the world but it does distract a little.
The book has a couple good recipes and a good start for someone one wanted to change their diet. I think the books could have had more variety but it is a good start.
First of all someone should spellcheck for this author. The information is definitely the most basic most of it is just plain old common sense. And the recipes leave a lot to be desired for the average person
Too simple to provide discussion of research and principals - although there is a large print paragraph on research but there is no detail. Author wanted to get right to recipes
