Gold makes you suffer.
Fear kills you.
Giant Country is a land torn by giant and man and the destruction between them. It’s a land fueled by that which glitters, built on metal and stone. It’s a land where Jack Caldwell found adventure, escape, excitement. But too much has happened since then. Now, he’s the Giant Slayer. Now, he has gold in his blood. Now, he’s lost a friend.
He is bound to a world he despises.
Jack has returned at last, and with his friends at his heels, they are thrust into fast-paced adventure, gut-wrenching revelations, and characters who crawl from childhood nursery rhymes. In a place where gold is poison or cure, and fear is dangerously tangible, Jack will do anything to save the friend he long ago left behind—even as the Master’s identity is finally exposed.
This isn’t a game anymore.

This series just keeps getting better. The friendship and growing trust between Alice, Kai, Wendy, Red, and Jack is one of my favorite things about the series. Each of the characters is dealing with traumas throughout the series as a whole, and the ways they are dealt with are so realistic and heart wrenching, but hopeful as well.

I am really looking forward to the next installment/conclusion of the series, and finding out WHY the Master wants them, now that we know who it is. What is the endgame?!? Each subsequent book has also given me a new set of characters to love/worry about so I hope to see them all in the last one with hopes that some of them survive! Ms. Frie is going to break my heart if my OTP doesn't happen and if my favorites die. *distant crying*

This one was probably my favorite in the series. I really enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. I wasn't expecting to like Jack's story as much as I did.
