The complete three book bundle of The Fallen World trilogy. ***This is not an additional novel to the series; this is an omnibus of it.***
In the future, the world is at war.
For the last decade, King Lazuli of the Eastern Empire has systematically taken over the world. No one knows much about him other than a series of impossible facts: he cannot die, he has not aged since the conflict began, and he wants to rule the world.
All Serenity Freeman has known is bloodshed. War has taken away her mother, her home, her safety. As the future emissary of the Western United Nations, the last autonomous region of the globe, she is responsible for forging alliances where she can.
Surrender is on the horizon. The king can taste it; Serenity feels it deep within her bones. There is no other option. Now the two must come face to face. For Serenity, that means confronting the man who’s taken everything from her. For the king, it means meeting the one woman he can’t conquer. But when they meet, something happens. Cruelty finds redemption.
Only in war, everything comes with a price. Especially love.
Found in the forest when she was young, Laura Thalassa was raised by fairies, kidnapped by werewolves, and given over to vampires as repayment for a hundred year debt. She’s been brought back to life twice, and, with a single kiss, she woke her true love from eternal sleep. She now lives happily ever after with her undead prince in a castle in the woods.
… or something like that anyway.
When not writing, Laura can be found scarfing down guacamole, hoarding chocolate for the apocalypse, or curled up on the couch with a good book.

I love the idea of an omnibus and since I only own these books on Kindle I thought this would make a fantastic addition to my bookshelf. I love this series and although the font is a bit small to read in this omnibus I don't mind much at all because the story is enough to capture my attention from beginning to end. Makes for a nice arm workout too! Ha!
You know what? This book was nuts. Like teetering on R. Lee Smith nuts only maybe not quite that level of weird and twisted, but it reminded me of their work in a good way. But it's dark and violent and weird and I'm here for it. Please have a rare 5 stars from me.
Queen of All That Dies: This story starts out fast and it never slows down. The romance here is heavily laced with action and political intrigue which resulted in a pulse pounding experience. Martes, the king, is such a multi-dimensional character. While I knew exactly what and who Serenity was, I hungered to know more about the king. We are given bits of his thoughts and through them it was apparent he was so much more than what is seen on the surface. My romantic heart thrilled at his almost instant want of the heroine, at his protectiveness of her. And yet, I screamed along with Serenity when truths about him were brought into the light. In the midst of all the turmoil was her feelings towards him which are muddled and confused. I sympathized with her completely.
The Queen of Traitors: Holy heck! That ending! While everything about this is filled with intrigue and danger, violence and confused emotions, it’s all leading you to this ending that is going to leave you dry mouthed and in absolute shock. I have grown so invested with these characters, each of them with faults, each of them lost and despairing at the world around them as well as the relationship they are in. I have grown so invested that by the time I reach the last portion of this book I found myself crying and then reading in horror which quickly turned to pain. In other words, this whole story is leading you up to this ending and it’s a wild a crazy ride.
The Queen of All That Lives: Other than the repetition about the heroine planning to kill the king, this book was just as amazing as the first two. The heroine remains true to her fighting spirit even as she struggles with her feelings for the king. Montes has actually evolved and while he is still just as ruthless, he is ruthless in a different way and over different issues. This one had some freaking amazing twists that I never in a million jillion years expected. With a nice epilogue that gives us a broad peek at the future, I was pretty happy with not only this book but the whole series.

I’m not a big reader of sci-fi books, but after reading the blurb to this series, I decided to give it a go.
The world setting is post-apocalyptic, the timeline is the future. The Americas aka the Western United Nations (WUN) has been at war with the Eastern Empire for numerous years, and with the end in sight, an emissary has been sent to the East to negotiate the terms of their surrender with King Lazuli, and his cabinet. Accompanying the Emissary is his beautiful daughter and the heroine in this series, Serenity Freeman. She’s a strong willed, independent woman who served as a fighting soldier in the Western army, but has been assigned as her father’s assistant. As soon as the King lays eyes on Serenity, he is absolutely enthralled and captivated by her and will do anything and everything to have her for himself.
Ok, so here are my thoughts on this series. I felt as though this series had so much potential but all I saw was a narcissistic Hero, with a god complex, who became completely infatuated and obsessed with our heroine. Their love hate relationship gave me whiplash throughout the series, and I found his obsession with her quite disturbing at times; and there were so many villains in the storyline. Seriously, almost every secondary character was or turned into a villain at some point in this series. 🤷🏻♀️
So here are the positives to this series. The books are all well written with great character development and realistic world building. I loved Serenity’s strong character and determination to find good in that devastated world and to do everything she could possibly do to change it for the better. I also loved that she could see good in the very person who had turned her world upside down and had caused so much hurt and destruction to so many people in the world.
This book was a major disappointment to me. I usually give anything, Laura Thalassa writes 5 stars, but this book did not have her other books qualities. For one, the main character was annoying and wishy-washy through all three books about her love for the king. She had limited character growth and was just hard to like. Wish was also getting kidnapped and cleaning her kidnappers like every 20 pages. The king was the most likable and had the most character growth. Overall, I am just disappointment and I am glad to be done with this book.

I really couldn’t connect with the “broken” characters. It was a massive series of unfortunate events over and over and over. I was intrigued with where the story would head, but ultimately I wasn’t hooked.
Wow! This series was intense. I could not put it down. So many ups and downs, but a love that stands the test of literal time. Satisfying ending too! Love love love the main characters. Definitely worth a read.
*Sidenote: the editor should be flogged for all the mistakes!* this is a post apocalyptic story, of sorts. A king of the world, Montes Lazuli, who gained power when a plague swept through the population and he sold the drug to cure it. Not only did it gain him fortune but bargaining power. For 30 years he has conquered. He rules the East and now he has come for the West. His only stipulation is to have Serenity Freeman as his wife and Queen. Serenity is the daughter of the current Emissary of the West and training to be the next Emissary. They make a trip to Geneva for peace talks, as the West can no longer hold out against the King. Montes’ first sight of Serenity, he knew he’d found a kindred heart. Serenity begrudgingly accepts her duty in order to save her people, but she didn’t plan on having anything in common with or having feelings for the King. The King has unnatural long life in youth and has been called the Undying King. He’s been killed several times but keeps coming back. The West has put on Serenity’s shoulders the task of learning his secrets, but the King learns hers first. All the radiation from the bombs of the King’s war on the West has caused stomach cancer in Serenity. The King didn’t realize he could even have love for someone, but finds that he cannot allow Serenity to die, so he keeps putting her in the “Sleeper” to keep her cancer at bay until he can cure it. During all this, there’s many traitors that come for him and the Queen. They even manage to make the Queen have a miscarriage. The end of book 2, since this is a trilogy collection, the King puts Serenity in the Sleeper until he can cure her cancer. It takes 75 years but he still can’t bring himself to pull her out. A total of 104 years go by before she’s found by spies from the West. The third book is Serenity coming to terms with how the King has changed in a century and accepting that she truly loves him. The East and West are still at war and it appears that she must be the one to end it. There are double agents and betrayals and secrets everywhere. It’s definitely worth a reread at another time. I love this author. The spice level is pretty mild. Sadly.
Full disclosure: I read books 1-3 in order all together with no break in between! That may have skewed my opinion slightly. Had I taken breaks and read other things I may have enjoyed this more.
I'm a huge fan of Laura Thalassa books. I honestly didn't think I'd like this though since it takes place in the future. For that reason I put off buying it until I didn't have anything else to read.
This series is about war and the cost of it. It often features treachery and back-stabbing from trusted people. There is a lot of domination, a lot of hate, and a lot of mixed emotions.
Overall I found the series interesting but it was not my favorite of this author. If I were to recommend her I would not choose this to give as an example. I don't recall ever growing bored with other books of hers but with this one I did. I found the love/hate relationship between the two main characters (King and Queen) to be repetitive. I didn't care for Kings domineering ways either. I also found the act of war itself, with all the players trying to become the ruler to grow tiresome. I skimmed through some parts, and I couldn't wait for the final book to end. UGH! I hate to say that! But it's true.
Near the end there was a last bit of action and excitement to help move things along and of course, the end finally came. I was glad to see the King and Queen get their happy ending and to see the end of the war finally.
If I were to be honest I think I'd have enjoyed this much more if this had been one book shy of what it was. It was just too drawn out and felt over written for my style of reading. I do tend to prefer more action and a fast moving story. This isn't really either in a lot of ways.
Thus my rating of 4 stars. I'd probably rate this 3.5 if I had that option though, just for the repetitive aspects and the fairly slow moving story on the overall.

First, you should know, I don’t normally care for war romance. I actually downloaded this series without reading the blurb and thought it was going to be about fallen angels. I love reading those books, but to my surprise, I loved this series!!
I fell in love with Serenity almost immediately. Her strength and courage know no bounds. She fights for everything that’s right in the world and doesn’t take no for an answer.
This story takes place in a world not so different from ours. It’s eerie how this could actually be our future. Serenity grows up to be an emissary and is goes to meet with the King to try and forge a peace treaty. She doesn’t know that she was setup to be the gift given to the King in exchange for peace. She becomes the King’s wife and slowly starts to love him.
Unfortunately, peace didn’t come from their union and instead more war breaks out. It becomes Serenity’s mission in life (or death) to bring peace to the world and restore it to how it was when she was a kid, before war broke everything that was good in life.
If I were to grade each book, books 1 and 2 were my favorites. I thought the third book dragged a little in the beginning, but I'm glad I kept going. The ending was worth it. I will say that it did get annoying that people kept taking Serenity and the King kept getting her back.
If you read this, you too will fall in love with these characters. I’m sad letting them go and moving on, but we all have to say goodbye sometimes. Happy reading y’all!!
The first story is complicated since we are being introduced to everything mostly in the FMC POV and she’s wicked mad. She’s carrying extreme trauma from being raised during wartime and has significant hatred for the MMC.
For his part, he’s written like a teenage boy but he’s supposedly close to 100 years old. It’s very odd and the “science” surrounding it is explained poorly, but he never behaves as a man of his power and position should. The side character Marco is more like what I expect of the MMC, but they both give excellent chemistry and dialogue. Pages and pages of them bickering most entertainingly and engagingly are some of the best parts of this book.
The story does what it needs and carries us to the second book efficiently.
The FMC changes going into the second book. SPOILER but this has the amnesia trope in it. The FMC is rebuilt at the beginning of the second book and even after her amnesia is beginning to heal, she is a new character. It is brilliant character development and one of my favorite plot devices of this story.
Going into the 3rd book we have significant growth in both characters and I enjoy the drastic difference in them by the end of the story. I cannot say it's HEA but it gives a satisfying ending.
The writing is vague at times and very poetic at other points. By the 2nd book, it settles in more and we move easily in the world and lore. I enjoyed this and bought the physical copy and have reread it completely with additional annotations once.
Until Next Time, MC

I got through the first two books before calling it quits. I’ll leave the plot line for others here bc there’s not much I can add.
My beef: the lead lady is constantly rehashing the same information, gripes, anger, existential crises over and over and over again. She hates her man, she loves him, she’s constantly treating him like crap (including attempted murder) but continues through the same adventure again and again: almost get killed, kill a bunch of faceless enemies, get healed in the magic machine, question your existence, repeat. It got old. And every character is flat. A pity since the core of the plot is interesting. And worst? The relationship is not believable in any way or romantic in the least - super necessary since that is at the heart of the conflict.
Maybe I’m just done with dystopias and angry leads.
Wow. 3rd series/trilogy I have read by this author (in a row)... all 5 stars and all-time-favorites. I am speechless. This author is absolutley incredible. She writes everything that I love in an excellent page-turner romance: hard as nails heroine (mentally if not physically as well), dark-dangerous-gorgeous (redeemed by heroine) hero/antihero, enemies to lovers, captive/kidnapped/trapped heroine, forced or arranged marriage, dystopian or post-apocalyptic world/fantasy, sexual tension for daaaaaaaays... and great love scenes (to me descriptive enough without venturing into erotic, but also not completely vague). In other words.... Ms. Thalassa's books are P E R F E C T!!!
Warning: This is a DARK and VERY GRITTY war romance (basically). If you are uncomfortable reading about war, killing, bombs, torture then you WILL NOT enjoy this series. As far as the romance goes there is no rape/non consensual encounters that happen on the page (only mentioned in passing that the higher-ups of the enemies did, past tense).
I am probably more obsessed with Ms. Thalassa's books than Montes is with Serenity. I love Montes and Serenity, I love Ms. Thalassa's writing, plot, EVERYTHING! If you are a fan of enemies to lovers and don't mind reading a war romance... then THIS is for you!!!!!

The Queen of All that Dies:
Serenity Freeman is probably the toughest soldier in this post-apocalyptic world after America falls and turns into the WUN (Western United Nation), (what used to be North & South America) and will enter into peace talks with the Eastern Empire (basically the rest of the world: Europe, Africa, Asia, South Pacific, and Australia). The leader of the East calls himself the Undying King (Montes) Lazuli. Serenity travels to the East with her father (the top mediator in the West). Serenity has been groomed to one-day take her father's place as mediator/treaty maker. She doesn't think she'll be any good as she's the best at being a soldier- killing (and surviving). Serenity and Montes meet... and nothing will ever be the same as it was again-- for them, and for the world. I do not want to give anymore than that away- trust me- you want to go into this knowing as little as possible. It's fantastic!

The Queen of Traitors:
When Montes gets Serenity back he gives her the anti-serum so she can have her memories restored. It's hard, Serenity is beginning to care for the King, the man she swore vengeance on long ago- when his bombs killed her mom & re-affirmed when his men killed her dad. That man took everything from her.... yet why does she want to protect and help him? Her heart and body are caving to her enemy... even if she refuses to actually say the words. This is an action packed book filled with attempted assassinations of Serenity and Montes.
* * *
The Queen of All that Lives:
Serenity Lazuli wakes up in a van surrounded by people she doesn't know. Good thing she is a soldier- because these people are not her friends.
Montes is a king he’ll bent on ruling the world He falls in love with a violent war hardened cranky soldier named serenity
This is truly one of the best stories I’ve ever read There were so many twists and turns and plot twists that at one point I was almost angry thinking that the hea would never come but they go out with a bang
The first book was intriguing and a pretty fast paced read. The second book was a dull trudge. The third book was tedious but did wrap up the story. So much potential but the execution was lackluster after the first book.
In an apocalyptic world, war is the daily news and both sides have registered uncountable losses. Serenity is a lethal warrior who must attend as a diplomat in the most important negotiation of her life. She has a mission, get the best peace treaty she could find because her people are dying. Her superiors think of her as an asset, they hope her beauty plays a good part in the grand scheme of things and it did in the end.
She finally picks the attention of the Devil and now she must sacrifice herself and her believes for a greater good. The devil is a King who never plays fair, who has a vision and a lot of troubles under his rug. He definitely wants her and he’ll do everything in his power to keeps her by his side.
This trilogy will make you cry, it will get you mad and frustrated but at the same time will make you hope the best until the end. Expect the unexpected because it really is mind blowing.
Spanish review
Totalmente recomendada.
This series was really something. Unlike any other book, this series wasn't one that i liked straight from the beginning. For more than a year, i picked its first book only to put it down because i lost interest. And when i thought to finally complete this series once and for all, i couldn't believe how crazy i was to not read it before.
This series was effing crazy and made me love it even more for it. A king who ruled the world, found his love at first sight in a girl, who came to make peace talk with him from another country, which he had destroyed in the first. Like i said - crazy!
To be honest there were many things that bothered me about this series - like ; but once you get behind that, its actually a pretty cool story.
From the beginning till the ending it was intense and sometimes even beautiful in its stature. The plot was awesome and writing superb.
** 3.75 Stars ** This was such an interesting read, with the potential of being a great series. It just fell a little short for me. This book is about war, love, mistrust and back stabbing. I was rooting for the king and queen, but boy did Serenity make it hard. The angst, starting over each time and the build up took a lot out them and me as the reader. I didn’t mind the kings domineering personality, and could appreciate that Serenity wasn’t a doormat; I just wish there was more growth between them. There was some growth but then it’d get knocked back 4 steps. Serenity was a strong and determined character but I felt like she was constantly on repeat; same issues over and over.
First book was great really got me interested
Second book was “OK”, it felt like it was dragging and lots of angst
Third book was better than the second book but again dragged along and lots of telling in the beginning.
I was disappointed with the 3rd books epilogue, after everything they’ve been through I needed more of an ending. Happy for their HEA but wanted more from it. It felt rushed.
In all honesty, i didn’t expect to like this series so much, i was close to DNFing it, but then, i started book 2 and wow oh WOW, i wasn’t expecting anything like it. Each book is a literal roller coaster, when they mean enemy to lovers, they really and truly mean enemy to lovers in this series. It’s scary how accurate this series is to the problems we’re currently facing worldwide, which makes it all the more enticing. Serenity is a 124 year old independent badass that takes zero shit from anyone, and those that piss her off either meet her fist or her gun, not even her husband, King Montes Lazuli, dares...well, no, that’s a lie, if anything, her darkness and cold heart is what captured his own. It’s a love story unlike any other, trust me, but the writing and story build up and plot twists, my eyes got watery for a couple of moments too, now that wasn’t what i expected to happen while reading this series. I have a weakness for smart mouthed, arrogant male love interests, and i’m not ashamed in admitting that his royal douchness King Lazuli, is everything i’m obsessed with😂
I have never felt this conflicted about a series or a book.
Now - I absolutely adore Laura Thalassa and her writing style and I did enjoy this about this series. It was definitely very different to what I expected but I was intrigued nonetheless. HOWEVER, I have one major issue with this book that kind of makes me wanna rate it even less than I decided to do: The characters! I usually enjoy the enemies to lovers trope and don’t have an issue with morally grey characters, but honestly there was nothing morally grey about Montes - he was just purely evil. I can even get behind ‘evil’ characters usually, if they have some sort of redeeming quality about them. Montes has absolutely none. He literally destroyed the world and caused billions of deaths for no other reason then power lust. And even once he started saving the girl Serenity all he did was for selfish reasons. I honestly hated him the entire time and don’t understand how or why he deserved a happy ending! So while I can objectively say that this is not a bad book, I kind of hated it!

This book took me by surprise, in the best ways possible.
Its dramatic, romantic, filled with plot twists and keeps you on edge from beginning to end, this is exactly the type of book I save my 5 star reviews for.
It has an original plot, fantastic characters and development, descriptive writing that sets the scene easily in your mind, whilst ensuring to only mention whats necessary and relevant to the plot, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, King Lazuli is the perfect type of wrong that is just so right, I felt him in my bones!
My favorite part was Thalassa ability to write sensational intelligent witty dialogue between both leading characters. A heroine who is intelligent and can stand on her own physically and emotionally, and a romantic at heart villain who play games through wars and words.
If you love an intelligent war of words, that's filled with humor and wit I would highly recommend this book.
This is one of my all time favorite series! I am so glad Thalassa boxed it all to together what a great deal.
Why is my favorite? Well let me just say the Fallen World series is not for the faint of heart. These books are a serious journey. And you guessed it the world his fallen, like in terrible shape. Each and every single book is faced paced and keeps you on the edge off your seat. I couldn't stop reading, and my predictions were constantly wrong! (which is usually not the case) So just when you think you know Serenity or the King is going to do, you have no idea!
I really love how the author surprised me over and over, and just when you think you hate a character you don't! Love, love, love these stories. And if you haven't checked out Thalassa's Bargainer series, it is a completely different soul touching journey. Also get ready to be hunting down new jewelry after this read, lol.
This was an interesting read. I was quite taken with the tragic character that was Serenity, a person who literally had the responsibility of the entire world befall on her young shoulders. The world was not kind to her and she endured greatly. I enjoyed the first book and the second was even better. It addressed quite a few issues I had with the first novel and of course the ending was parallel to the first novel and yet I wasn’t so eager to continue you on to the third novel. The last book seems too lengthy, it was overly detailed and had a few editing errors (several times Marcos was called Marcus and it began to irk me), certain scenes went on far longer than necessary and a lot of the “twists” were horribly predictable. Overall I really enjoyed the love story at the heart of this series. It was nothing short of epic. Just like in Rhapsodic and in War.
Laura Thalassa is just the best. I loved this trilogy so much! I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this series, especially since I feel like she gets better with time and it’s always a little nerve wracking going through an author’s backlist. (I wasn’t a huge fan of The Vanishing Girl series, but so far it’s the only one I’ve not really liked!) The Fallen World was so good, especially if you’re a fan of enemies to lovers romance and fantasy/war. Honestly, I feel like if you’ve rooted for The Darkling in Shadow and Bone or you loved The Shadows Between Us, this series gives you the same vibes AND it’s definitely not YA. I didn’t see any of the twists coming and I loved all of them. The story kept me on the edge of my seat.. this is definitely a must read. It was dark romance, full of violence and vengeance and passion!
Montes and Serenity’s characters capture my attention in an instant. They worm their way into me that I wanted to grab them and give them a world where they can just be; be who they are and be together where they can relish each other.
Serenity is such a kickass. The woman she embodies is amazing and I never got tired or irritated by her in the whole book. Montes starts with being mysterious until you discover his darkness then he becomes someone redeemable.
Montes's journey towards a future he wants for Serenity has been heartbreaking and lonely. I want a glimpse of that century he has to endure. Nonetheless, these three installments were worth my two days splurge.
