Northbane Shifters #1 To #5

Northbane Shifters

Rate this book
Deep in the Farthing Mountains, in what was British Columbia before the Rift, the Northbane shifters have carved out a refuge. Winfyre Ridge. Away from the horrors, wars, and darkness. A place to live free and prosper. To start over.

If you can get there.

WOLF's WAGER
Reagan Grace fled from a city laid to waste. She’s trying to get what’s left of her family to that mountain haven by any means necessary. But after a thousand-mile trek, the last thing she expected was a chance encounter with a bored alpha shifter. One who claims her by a toss of the dice.

Luke “Swift” Swiftlore could smell the secrets on Reagan a mile away. Hell only knows what risk he’s taking in letting this pretty refugee in. Now he has to keep her close and see if he can get her to cop to what she is. Good thing he’s a creative badboy.

BLACK BEAR's DUE
Laia Llary has been looking for her cousin Tristan for months. But when she gets to Winfyre, does she find him? No. She only finds trouble. A brawl, a black eye and a bear shifter. Exactly in that order.

Garrett “Rett” Deacon knows he should throw Laia out on her ass, but he owes her cousin. With no alternative, he claims her as punishment. At least now he can both train and keep an eye on her. Although it’s hard to say who hates it more.

TIGER's PREY
Sierra the Sphinx is the best scout money can buy. She might even be a match for Tristan “Trickster” Llary of the Northbane. Except she didn’t stick around long enough after swindling him to find out. Too bad, the Tiger Alpha was a hell of a kisser. Only Sierra might have made a mistake. She didn’t bank on Tristan coming after her.

The one and only night Tristan decides to kick back, he gets robbed. Now he’s hot on Sierra’s tail for three reasons. One, to get his possessions back. Two, because Sierra doesn’t realize what kind of danger she’s in – both from him and those that would kill for what she has. Three – he can’t get her out of his head.

ICE BEAR's BID
Kallen “Kal” Deacon is the second-in-command at Winfyre. The Northbane shifter would give his life to keep it safe. Or to protect its most important secret. So, he’s not happy when he’s sent to scout the southern border. He’s even less happy when he comes upon a black-market auction. Kal knows he should leave it alone but one demure and bumbling beauty changes his mind.

Iris has no idea what to make of the surly Ice Bear shifter dragging her back to Winfyre. While he’s terrifying and powerful, she’s not afraid. She’s drawn to him.

DRAGON's OATH
Alexander "Xander" Bane understands he is now the reason Winfyre exists. His presence alone keeps most threats at bay. Something he takes no pride in – as its leader, he does what has to be done and that's the end of it. Even if it means he has to be alone for the rest of his life, his shifted form must remain a secret. A secret found out by accident by Tiani Elkhadi, who spies the dragon in the woods.

After nearly years of precautions, Xander has no idea what he should do. As icy as his heart has become, he can’t bring himself to kill her in cold blood. With no other choice, he claims her. Only Xander has no idea he’s playing into enemy hands. That Tiani was sent there to destroy Winfyre from the inside. To make it an example. To start a new war.

NOTE: This boxset contains ALL five books of the Northbane Shifters series.

Constructive criticism

Book 1
Usually, I know how well a book will be written from the first chapter. This one, I was wrong. The writing started out really strong with describing past and present events, hence the four stars, but the storyline and my interest in it started downhill as soon as possible romance bloomed between the major characters. That should've heightened my interest in the story. Well, this was the first time I thought maybe the author should've left the romance out.
The story stalled the second Reagan and Luke met. The how and why their new world exists was put to the wayside as everyone started keeping life or death secrets and denying their attraction. I'm not sure if some authors will ever realize that it's more annoying than suspenseful for the reader to deal with constant back and forth between lead characters and pages and pages of useless character's thoughts. Not to mention the tactic of skipping to the next pov as soon as the reader may get needed answers for why a character is the way they are that this author has employed. Then there's the keeping information from even the characters affected the most by it making no sense. Not a case of what will happen next in this book but when will it ever happen.
Why wouldn't Luke immediately tell Reagan what would happen if her sister didn't shift to her animal? He actually thought keeping that to himself would keep Reagan out of trouble. No, that just confirms for me that an author hasn't fully finished plot, world, and character-building before publishing especially when I have only questions halfway through book one and feel like I've wasted my time after reading two pages about a bleeding heroine's knuckle for the hero to lament over. If romance isn't your thing, it's okay. I was good with the cross world trek to safety and the heroine speaking to animals. Way more interesting than the romance that's going in dizzying circles. Play to your strengths. You're brilliant at world-building and creating unique creatures, and keep it simple.

Epic world

in a post apocalyptic world a place of hope exits. The characters are deeply crafted, and struggle against evil ,find love and become real to the reader. I enjoyed this book, and as much as I was ready for it to end, the ending was rushed. It felt like an arbitrary decision to finish, and pull everything together. It felt weird how all of a sudden, the bad guy gets stopped, a missing person suddenly shows up and all is well again. I loved everything but the last few chapters. Did the author decide that the book was becoming too long?
Nevertheless, I would recommend it as a good read.

Intriguing and engaging

I have never read this author's books before and I am now a fan for life. Set in the future after a catastrophic rift happens and the modern world is gone. 5 good friends awake as shifters in a much different realty. Having all been in the military, they use their skills to establish a safe haven for shifters, magic users and other survivors. It's well written and it held my interest until the last word. I'll be looking for more books by Ms. Hunt

Thrilling

This was an excellent series, full of action, intrigue, betrayal and most of all love. The shifters all had to really grow to win their mates and to beat their enemies. I absolutely loved the last book with Xander and Tiana, with an ending I never saw coming. Fantastic world building, characters full of personality and grit. I would have given it 10 stars if I could have.

Hours of Entertainment

The Northbane shifter series is full of excitement, surprises, mysteries, and alluring alpha men. It will keep you entertained from the first book to the last. Great storylines and amazing writing all together. The idea of a rift causing abilities in people is genius. The last book wraps up the series perfectly. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves books about shifters or is just looking for something different.

Must Read Northbane

I cannot begin to express how much I loved this series. The characters and storyline capture you from the beginning. The 5 alphas of Northbane territory are hot sexy shifters of different varieties. Their fated mates are strong amazing women with plentiful gifts of their own. If you like shifters and magic and the triumph of good over evil this is a must read. Highly recommended.

WOW!! One of the best shifter series ever.

Isabella Hunt is a fabulous author and has written a series of books based on the lives of the Northbane Alphas and their mates. Their struggle to protect their country's people from a diabolical madman and his lackeys told by each Alphas' story, creates fast moving plots with outstanding characters and remarkable action scenes. Great series and the opportunity to read them all in one setting is memorable.

Excellent Paranormal Stories

This series has five stories with drama, romance and intrigue. The characters were well developed. A rift tour through from another dimension which created shifters and witches, as well as, caused technology to fail. It also ushered in evil from another dimension. These stories captured my attention and I couldn't stop reading them.

Good solid read

I loved the story line. Which was not overwhelmed by the romance. He brought the characters to life with good character interplay. So way not 5 stars, I did like how good the Main characters were. They allowed their enemies to survive so they could come back at them. But overall a good book, and well worth the time.

I was surprised by how fast I got pulled into the story, and kept there, through five individual books! The Post-Rift world is an interesting setting, and I’ve never seen anything like it before. I thoroughly enjoyed each book, and loved all of the characters.
