Their past is the key to everything, but the move to unlock the future has yet to be made.
Years ago, Detective Melisandre Watson made a decision to walk away from the love of her life, but she never stopped thinking about him. Now, embroiled in the biggest case of her life, she suddenly realizes how alone she really is and wonders about her life choices. It doesn’t matter, though. Vaughn Romano is gone, and no other man has ever made her feel the way he did.
When Mel’s case suddenly takes an interesting turn, she starts to doubt everything in her life. She can’t catch the perp, she has another mystery she can’t seem to solve, and her love life is non-existent. But then fate intervenes, making her face something that she never thought to confront again, and bringing up things and feelings from her past she thought long forgotten.
The onus is on her. The question is, will she make the right move and choose love?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rayvn Salvador is a lifelong bibliophile who swapped an eighteen-year IT career for a life of storytelling. Known for her unique blend of romance, mystery, suspense, and a dash of darkness, Rayvn’s books are never your average love stories. They’re filled with twisty plots, irresistible swoony moments, and just the right touch of humor to keep things light, even when the stakes are high. She lives in Florida with her feline familiars and incredibly supportive beau—who hopes nobody ever needs to check her search history. Outside of writing, she’s a fan of sporting events, concerts, long walks in the woods, investigating haunted locales, and diving deep into true crime documentaries. If you’re looking for her, she’s likely currently hard at work on her next book to make your pulse race.
Your Move by Rayvn Salvador Willow Falls #1. Contemporary romance. Second chance troupe. Detective Melisandre Watson is working on the biggest case of her life. She’s busy well beyond any regular work hours. But she’s also alone and maybe lonely? She walked away from Vaughn Romano more than once so she could focus on her career. Would she make the same choice again? Vaughn wants another chance with Melisandre. He’s not giving up on hope they can have a life together.
A different point in their lives allow both Mel and Vaughn to rethink what they want in life and love. Getting back together was easy but they will have to work to figure out if a future is possible. His PTSD, her past, and both moving forward could mean everything. A few stumbles make the hea all the sweeter.
Mel walked away from her first love, Vaughn, twice. She is a strong woman who has put her career first. When Vaughn comes back to town, they run into each other again. Is the third time, the charm? Vaughn and Mel do have past issues to work out, but they have both grown in their time apart. There were frustrating parts of the book but I liked the HEA. I'm looking forward to book two.
this was going ok until the hosptal scene. nope you lost me. Vaughn was an absolute jack ass and Mel just let him be. i'm sorry she was a cop, who had to file an incident report whie also making sure her concussion wasn;t leathle. i don't care about past history one date and a night of steamy sex does a couple make. he was wrong and she was wrong to let him. nope you lost me at the magical peen that fixed a wonman that didn't need fixing. that is an emotional abuse relationship in the making
Mel and Vaughn dated in high school but broke up when they went to different colleges. They dated again as adults. Unfortunately, Mel broke up with Vaughn while he was in Dubai on assignment. Now years later Vaughn is back in town. He has given up his career as a journalist and is a successful crime novelist. Mel is a police detective working on the biggest case of her career. Both Vaughn and Mel care for each other. Neither really got over the other during their break. They have some issues to work out before they can make their relationship work. I really enjoyed this book. My only complaint is I wish it had been longer with more information about the police investigation. I recommend this book to anyone who likes contemporary romance.
I listened to the audiobook. Narrator Skye Alley did a great job.
The last time Mel pushed Vaughn away she was working her way up in the police dept and wanting to become a detective. Vaughn was overseas working for a magazine. After years away, Vaughn moves back to help his parents move and hopefully rekindle things with Mel. She’s busy on big case and her emotions concerning Vaughn are all over the place. This was a story with many different elements. Mystery and intrigue, second chance romance and emotions from heartbreak and PTSD. Vaughn was patient with Mel and finally stood up and communicated what he needed from her. Mel finally realizes she has been selfish and must learn that there are people, who care about her and love her. An awesome must read book. Can’t wait for the next book in this series. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Mel pushed Vaughn away years ago when he left on assignment to Dubai. She thought she couldn't be what he deserved. Vaughn has loved her since high school but can he forgive her for always running away?
This was a fun, second chance read. Mel is a tough, take no crap kind of woman. Vaughn is obviously a romantic at heart. I loved that he wasn't trying to change Mel and he respected her career choice. Your Move is a sweet read with a side of mystery. I am looking forward to reading more books by Rayvn Salvador.
Your Move turned out to be a good story with a happy ending. It started off pretty slow but it all came together. Sad what Vaughan had to experience during his time as a journalist. That is something that can be life changing. Being back with his true love should help him heal mentally. Mel acknowledges her issues and vows to work on them so they can move forward. They enjoy their happy ending and move forward.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Melisandre is still thinking of Vaughn years after sending him packing for the second time. Mel has a commitment problem. She does not think she is good enough for him. Mel will not admit she loves Vaugh. Vaughn loves Mel but cannot tell her. When they finally mesh... This is full of action and should appeal to adult lovers of steamy romance stories. Highly recommended.

Detective Melisandra Watson (Mel) walked away from the love of her life, Vaughn – twice. She regrets this decision and struggles with it. She is working on the Valley Voyeur case. Mel stops in a favorite bar for a drink and a burger. While there, some commotion happens and a skeleton key is placed in Mel’s bag. Now Mel has two mysteries to solve. Mel bumps into Vaughn and the chemistry and feelings are still there. Loved watching Mel and Vaughn navigate their third chance.
I enjoyed the book but I felt it did not have enough of the mystery of the case she was working on to make the story more. This book to me was a love story and nothing more. No danger, no who done it....get my drift. I went into reading this thinking it was a mystery with a dose of a love story added, but it was nothing but a love story. The mystery was kind of a background more than an active scene.
I enjoyed reading Your Move. It was well written and easy to read and at 143 pages didn't take long. The story was interesting and easy to follow with some drama and romance. It is the first book in a series and I'm looking forward to reading more from Rayvn.
Honestly I met this fantastic woman and her equally amazing author friend Erika at a book convention and I am so so glad that I did. I finished the 2 books in this series in a few days. I especially love that they are set in Wisconsin They are both definitely worthy of your time. If you like a little romance with some mystery and a side of bad ass heroines these are the books for you. I NEEEEED New Beginnings and The Relic. I have to find out about (oot uh-boot) the Dollhouse Killer. Thank you Rayvn for penning these thoughts to paper. Please please please, keep doing you!
