I’m sorry to say that this series is a real let down. I absolutely loved the watcher series and the enhanced and warrior race etc etc but these books just drag on and on, 3 books to finally get to the war with Haven! I am so sick of the repeating prose and thoughts from Amber, I am literally skimming pages to try and get to the action. It could have been done in 3 good books. Is it just a money ploy?? I’ve got to the stage where I’m not bothered if I get the next book, just get on with it!!!
The war has begun! This book was a flurry of action. We finally get more than just a whiff of Haven. Amber also finally gets to speak with Brie---yeeee! I have no idea what will happen next. I'm so excited to find out in the next book!
It is always difficult to rate an author that you have come to trust. In this book the quality of writing is as good as ever, the editing nearly impeccable (mostly because Toby is a freak of nature, who writes in near finished draft with his first.draft) and the well developed world and characters have become old friends. I first fell in love with these books with the "Watchers" series, which were full length novels. The latest projects take me around four hours to read, find for a light diversion but not truly satisfying. Compound that dissatisfaction with a cliffhanger and I become grumpy.. I could wait for the.series.to be.complete, and.as.quickly as Toby writes.wouldn't have to wait too long, or.I can continue to read one book in small installments. Clearly there are many readers who will not be bothered by these publishing tactics and readers who are warned in advance can make their choices. In the.end.I like these books, but don't like the format.
So let me start by saying that once again, T.C. Edge has delivered! This series is the 5th in The Chosen series and continues on Amber’s journey towards war with the city of Haven. I enjoyed how she was able to form closer relationships with some of the other characters as well as work through issues that develop within those same relationships. You really get to know a lot more about some of the other characters that have been key players but have kind of been on the back burner thus far. The cliffhanger ending has me ready for number 6! Can’t wait!
I have enjoyed this series thus far and will continue. The characters are amazing. Plot is good. Story pace is great. My only real issue is that the farther along I get in the series the more I see misused words which really pull me out of the story. It's evident the series is self published. I wish the author would have another set of eyes reading. The words are not misspelled so spell check wouldn't pick them up.
Okay, the series is still good but the story really dragged in this book and I'm exhausted with Amber! She is making some really stupid choices that left me upset with her! Honestly, Jude needs more focus as his story seems more interesting! Also, Haven is looking better than the cult city of the Prime already! Nothing but a bunch of brainwashed nuts thinking they are gods! Haven needs to save their poor butts!
I have the omnibus edition of this series so will just say that this installment could have been part of the last one as it follows with the actual fighting with the Havenites.
However, it was well-written, though needs proofreading, and it further reveals some of the mystery. I haven't read the Enhanced yet but it seems as if this series is just the other side of the coin. I hope I am not diappointed.
Enjoyable and I will still recomend it for a good story.
The Chosen are ready for war as the march brings them to the city of Haven but their strongest Herald of War is killed in a surprised strike by Havens army. The second in command is not as well liked as the old war herald, nor as good as a war herald.
Epic, absolutely fabulous. I read this book in conjunction with a book about Brie and Kira, so kept slipping between them. Hmmm, what now for Amber, is Elian alive, and what will happen to Jude...
This book got very exciting at the end. I like that the characters found their power. I can't wait for book 6 to come out. I love that the author tied this series to another series he wrote.
