What if you discovered your lively new friend wasn't really...alive?

Amanda Tucker is excited about opening her fashion design studio in Shops On Main, a charming old building in historic Abingdon, Virginia. She didn't realize a ghost came with the property! But soon Maxine "Max" Englebright, a young woman who died in 1930, isn't the only dead person at the retail complex. Mark Tinsley, a web designer with a know-it-all attitude who also rented space at Shops On Main, is shot in his office.

Amanda is afraid that one of her new "friends" and fellow small business owners is his killer, and Max is encouraging her to solve Mark's murder a la Nancy Drew. Easy for Max to want to investigate--the ghostly fashionista can't end up the killer's next victim!

"As a sucker for a fun ghost story, I can say Gayle Leeson's DESIGNS ON MURDER scores on many levels including a spunky entrepreneur and a charming setting. Now that I've read the first one, I'll be counting the days until the next in the series arrives." --Lorna Barrett, author of the New York Times Bestselling Booktown Mysteries

In DESIGNS ON MURDER, Gayle Leeson sketches a stylish plot accessorized with a spectral fashionista sidekick. This series debut is a delight!" -Diane Vallere, national bestselling author

Gayle Leeson is a pseudonym for Gayle Trent. I also write as Amanda Lee. As Gayle Trent, I write the Daphne Martin Cake Mystery series and the Myrtle Crumb Mystery series. As Amanda Lee, I write the Embroidery Mystery series.

The cake decorating series features a heroine who is starting her life over in Southwest Virginia after a nasty divorce. The heroine, Daphne, has returned to her hometown of Brea Ridge to open a cake baking and decorating business and is wrestling with the question of whether or not one can go home again. She enjoys spending time with her sister, nephew, and niece, but she and her mother have a complicated relationship that isn’t always pleasant. Daphne has also reconnected with her high school sweetheart and is pursuing a rekindled romance while desperately trying to put her past behind her.

Kerry Vincent, Hall of Fame Sugar Artist, Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show Director, and Television Personality says the series is “a must read for cake bakers and anyone who has ever spent creative time in the kitchen!”

Says Dean Koontz, #1 New York Times bestselling author, “One day I found myself happily reading . . . mysteries by Gayle Trent. If she can win me over . . . she’s got a great future.”

The Embroidery Mystery series features a heroine who recently moved to the Oregon coast to open an embroidery specialty shop. Marcy Singer left her home in San Francisco, along with the humiliation of being left at the altar, in order to move to Tallulah Falls and realize her dream of owning her own shop. She takes along her faithful companion, a one-year-old Irish wolfhound named Angus O’Ruff. She makes many new friends in Tallulah Falls, but she also makes a few enemies. Thankfully, her best friend Sadie MacKenzie and her husband Blake run the coffeehouse right down the street from Marcy’s shop, the Seven-Year Stitch; and Detective Ted Nash always has her back.

Publishers Weekly says, “Fans of the genre will take kindly to Marcy, her Irish wolfhound, Angus O’Ruff, and Tallulah Falls. This is a fast, pleasant read with prose full of pop culture references and, of course, sharp needlework puns.”

Pat Cooper of RT Book Reviews says, “If her debut here is any indication, Lee’s new series is going to be fun, spunky and educational. She smoothly interweaves plot with her character’s personality and charm, while dropping tantalizing hints of stitching projects and their history. Marcy Singer is young, fun, sharp and likable. Readers will be looking forward to her future adventures.” (RT Book Reviews nominated The Quick and the Thread for a 2010 Book Reviewers’ Choice Award in the Amateur Sleuth category)

I live in Virginia with my family, which includes her own “Angus” who is not an Irish wolfhound but a Great Pyrenees who provides plenty of inspiration for the character of Mr. O’Ruff. I'm having a blast writing this new series!

Excellent story! Amanda Tucker designs retro-style fashion clothing. With her newly opened boutique, Designs On You taking custom orders, Amanda is ecstatic her dream is coming true. She’s amazed to discover a ghost inhabits the space she’s leasing in the Shops On Main building. Fun and friendly Max (Maxine) is happy Amanda and her Grandpa Dave can see and talk to her, as can Amanda’s cat, Jazzy! When another renter in the building is murdered, Max makes an excellent spy as she disappears through walls and eavesdrops on conversations. Great mystery, and a great cast make this a very enjoyable new cozy!

Amanda Tucker is ready to start the next chapter in her life. With some help from her grandfather, she opens her own designer clothes shop. She purchases one of the stores in the Shops on Main shopping center. Much to her surprise, it comes with a 1930’s ghost named Maxine “Max” Englebright. Max is full of advice for Amanda.

Her quiet little shop isn’t so quiet when a fellow shop owner, Mark Tinsley, is murdered. Amanda’s grandfather fears for her safety, but Amanda is determined to make her shop a success, right where she is. Besides, she’s become close to her new ghostly friend, Max. Someone only she and her grandfather can see.

There are a handful of suspects in this one. I suspected them all and really wasn’t sure who the culprit was until the end.

The author drew me right in. I adored Amanda, her grandfather and their new friend Max. There is plenty of witty rapport between these three and they were easy to like. It is nice to see Amanda’s strength and determination to continue with her venture.

It’s a fast-paced mystery that I devoured. This is the first book in a brand new series and I’m looking forward to the next one in the series.

I thought this was a charming start to a new series for author Gayle Leeson. I was hooked right from the start and kept turning pages. The characters are terrific. Amanda and her new paranormal best friend are well written, spunky and fun individuals. I loved the relationship between Amanda and her Grandpa Dave. It was warm and loving and added a nice dimension to the story. Max, the resident ghost in Amanda's new shop is really a fun character. She was enchanting and provided a good bit of humor. The mystery was a bit light and not overly complicated but there were plenty of suspects to choose from among the shop owners.

All in all, I thought this was a delightful read and I will definitely be back for more books in the series.

I voluntarily read a digital ARC provided to me by the publisher though Netgalley.

You could tell author Gayle Leeson had the spirt while she was writing this book, and that spirit was Max!

DESIGNS ON MURDER starts right off with very likeable characters. Protagonist Amanda Tucker is a young, bright woman with a passion for fashion designing. Her Grandpa Dave is a hoot, and he’s real supporter of his granddaughter. Then there resident spirit Max. Fun and sassy, every scene with her is simply entertaining! Ghost cozies aren’t normally my go to reads, with the exception of a few authors, but if they were all like Max, I’d be searching them out!

This book had it all. Wonderful writing. A first class mystery. Humor, excitement, murder and mayhem. I never knew from page to page what to expect. I was clueless as to whodunit and why, all the way to surprising the reveal. Kudos, Ms. Leeson.

I was sold on DESIGNS ON MURDER because of the author. I’m a fan of all of Gayle Leeson’s series. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and I’m thrilled that I finally did!

This is the first book in A Ghostly Fashionista Mystery. A wonderful new series written by Gayle Leeson.
Amanda is opening her fashion design shop in an old building in the town of Abington, Virginia. Max, a ghost, that can read, just happens to come with that particular shop in the historic building.
Murder, a ghost, intriguing characters will keep you turning the pages of this well written story.
I loved the book and the interaction between Amanda and Max. Looking forward to more adventures with Amanda and Max.

I received an ARC prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it. Opinions are my own.

Designs on Murder by Gayle Leeson is the debut novel in A Ghostly Fashionista Mystery series. Amanda Tucker was on her way home from a job interview when she notices a For Lease sign at the Shops on Main in Abingdon, Virginia. She has dreamed of opening her own boutique to sell her vintage inspired fashions, but her parents (mostly her mother) had numerous objections. Amanda with financial help from Grandpa Dave takes the plunge and leases the shop for Designs on You. Little did Amanda know that the space comes with ghost. Maxine “Max” Englebright died in the 1930s and has been tethered to the property ever since. Amanda is the first person that has been able to see Max. Amanda comes by to set up her new shop to find the place crawling with police. Mark Tinsley, a web designer who rented space upstairs, was found shot in his office. Max, who just read a mystery on Amanda’s tablet, suggests that they solve Mark’s murder. Max can eavesdrop while Amanda talks to suspects and digs for clues. Amanda is worried that one of her fellow shop owners is the killer, so she reluctantly agrees to Max’s plan. Amanda just hopes she will not end up the killer’s next victim and join Max inhabiting the Shops on Main for the next hundred or so years.

Designs on Murder is an entertaining cozy mystery. Amanda Tucker and Max Englebright are delightful characters. I like that Amanda has decided to pursue her dreams by opening a unique dress shop. Amanda dreams up and executes beautiful clothes for her clients. She also has the business degree which will aid her in running a successful business. Max is a feisty woman who died too early. She fell down the stairs when Shops on Main was a home and broke her neck. Max is energetic and uses colorful slang from the 1920s. Dave is a kind, thoughtful man who is an exceptional woodworker. He makes Amanda a bookshelf that I envy. It is sweet how supportive he is of Amanda and how he helps her financially as well as with the staging of the shop. The story includes the shop owners who inlude Janice (jewelry designer) Connie (Delightful Home), Ford (Antiquated Editions) and Ella & Frank Peterson (design stationery and cards). There is also the landlady, Mrs. Meacham along with her husband, George and son, Brett. They are a unique bunch of characters. The murder mystery was appealing, and I liked how the clues were provided. I thought it was cleverly done. There are charming cozy moments that include talking clothes design, meal times and staging the shop. The author’s conversational writing style is appealing, and the story had a nice steady pace. There is humor in the story thanks to Max (she is quite a character) that had me laughing. Designs on Murder is a diverting cozy mystery that I found a pleasure to read. I look forward to the next A Ghostly `Fashionista Mystery.

Great New Paranormal Cozy!

For a first in a new series, this book grabbed me from the beginning! I enjoy reading paranormal cozy mysteries quite often. This one honestly held my interest from the beginning until the end.

A recent college graduate, Amanda Tucker has been living in her parent’s home since they had moved to Florida two years ago. After another job interview, that she really wasn’t interested in, she wanders into a fabulous old building to check it out. As soon as she enters, she meets Max (Maxine). Max questions her about the interview, and asks Amanda what her dream job really was. Amanda tells her she loves fashion design! Amanda and Max hit it off from the moment they meet. With Max’s encouragement she decides to follow her dream, and sign the lease!

Although the other shop keepers would come by to welcome her, no one seemed to realize Max was there. Later, Max discloses she is a ghost. A fashionable ghost at that. When one of the owners in a shop upstairs is murdered, she and Max agree to find out who the murderer is! Along with help from her Grandfather and a new “interest” in her life, Amanda and Max are off to a great start finding clues to aid in their investigation.

This book has all the abundance of what a great paranormal cozy mystery should contain. There are many humous moments as well as the suspense we crave toward the end of the book! Max is a peach! We could all use a friend like her. Be sure to read the Author’s Notes at the end. I loved the 1920’s history she shared in regards to events and fashion. In my opinion, an easy five stars for this book! I received a free copy of this book. My thoughts/opinions are my own.

The beginning of a new paranormal cozy series that was a lot of fun. I haven't read many paranormals, but I added this one to my TBR short list for Halloween. I enjoyed the mystery and the characters, including Max the ghost. I'll be continuing with the series!

“Designs on Murder” earns 4/5 Flapper Frills…Clever & Entertaining!

I am a fan of Gayle Leeson’s (aka Gayle Trent) Down South Café Mystery, so I was eager to read her new series, A Ghostly Fashionista Mystery. As with her other series, she pens a clever mystery with fun-to-follow characters, but this time she's added a bit of the paranormal….just the right amount for my tastes.

Gayle introduces Amanda Tucker, a delightful young woman who is setting up her own retro-style fashion design studio in an old renovated building, Shops on Main, along with other small businesses: jewelry, web design, antique books, stationary, fragrances, and more. But, she's surprised to find that the old mansion comes with its own ghost, and Amanda has the inherited “gift” to see her as plain as any more corporeal body. Maxine “Max” Englebright had passed in 1930, the victim of an accidental fall down the stairs of this same building in which she is essentially trapped. Having spurred Amanda on to take a chance on her dream, she's ecstatic that she has a new friend. But it's the dead body of one of the other small business owners that seems more disturbing. The murder mystery is compelling with twists, turns, ghostly assistance with limitations, and a satisfying conclusion with just the right amount of peril.

This first book isn't complicated, but a very entertaining read with vivid descriptions and fun banter in a first-person narrative. Usually these firsts spend time getting through the introductions of all the characters and their connections, but here it wasn't confusing to follow who is who and how they are related. I greatly enjoyed the BFF nature of the relationship between Amanda and Max, along with a fascinating connection, and the dynamics between Amanda and her “favorite person” Grandpa Dave and the budding romantic with Jason Logan, another small business owner. All of this has made me a more eager fan!

This delightful new series by Gayle Leeson combines the paranormal world with Max, a ghost from the 1920s; fashion through Amanda's designs; a touch of romance, and a murder that throws everything together despite the wishes of the characters.  If nothing else, you will want to read the story for Max and her quirky phrases, which weren't quirky for her time period, as they will give you a chuckle.

The cast of characters is not large and the author does a great job of pushing several characters to the forefront as potential suspects. While these characters may not have committed the act, they are not totally innocent as there are several other sub-stories that tie everything together.  As I was reading the book I kept coming back to one character that just seemed suspicious for some reason.  Turns out I pinned it on the right character!  And there is some resolution tied to other characters that seemed shady.

You will probably fall in love with Grandpa Dave.  He is the sort of family member everyone should have because he looks out for Amanda and supports her hopes and dreams, unlike her mother.  We only get a small glimpse of her mother but let me tell you she is a piece of work!  Thankfully her father is down to earth and helps manage her mother's outbursts.

There is the start of a romance between Amanda and Jason.  Jason is a new tenant to the building where Amanda has just opened her shop, so they are getting to know everyone together.  They also have complimentary businesses - she designs clothing and he is a photographer.  I like that they take their relationship slowly and aren't rushing into anything too crazy too soon.

When you read this book (notice I didn't say "if"!) you will want to read the author's notes because she provides detail for Max's actions and reactions based on when she lived in the 20s.  I appreciated the research she did for this book and I am sure you will too.

I was surprised that I liked this book :) The murder was there but the Amanda Tucker, the main character, was not the typical know it all nosy sleuth. She’s a newly graduated fashion student opening a fashion design shop with a loan from her very supportive grandfather. The store is being haunted by Maxine, who is a fashionista from the 1930’s and does help Amanda with some of her design ideas. The day she moves into the building, a tenant who is about to move out is murdered and Amanda and Max suspects that one of the other shop keepers may be the murderer.

This is a fun story with most of the fun centered around Max. Max encourages Amanda to investigate, and also to date another tenant (Jason). Through her interactions with Max, Amanda is both flustered and confident in her interactions with others. Amanda’s grandfather is also able to see Max and seems to have a wee bit of a crush. He also helps Amanda look into the murder. While the mystery is present, a lot of the book does also center on Amanda building her business, the tenants of the building, and the relationships being built

This was the first time I had read one of Gayle's books and I thoroughly enjoyed it "A Ghostly Fashionista Mystery" series is off to a great start. This series also has a nice hint of the paranormal with the ghost of Max. This book had me hooked from the beginning and I finished in a couple nights.

The mystery was well written and carries through the entire story. There were a couple of twists and turns that I didn't see coming but I did guess the killer halfway through. The author brought all the characters to life for me and I really love a book that makes me feel like I can see everything in my minds eye. I enjoyed the relationship between Amanda and her Grandpa Dave and even the blossoming romance between Amanda and Jason.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this charming series, and I highly recommend this series to all my cozy mystery loving friends.

I was so disappointed in this book, especially after seeing all the high ratings that it had gotten. I didn’t care for the main character, Amanda. But I did like the ghost, Max. Found the story boring. And it just did not hold my attention.
Also, I had read this on my Kindle. And it was very frustrating because the paragraphs ran into each other. It was hard to determine which character was talking with the way it was written.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Great Escapes Book Tours. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Fashion, Murder, and a Ghost, Oh, My!
Designs on Murder by Gayle Leeson is fantastic. I absolutely adored everything! I was so gone after “the elephant’s eyebrows.” The characters are smart, witty and so funny. The setting is perfect, from the small town atmosphere to the diners, and the Shops On Main.
The Characters
Amanda Tucker
Amanda is so talented, with her designing gown to fit the individual, sewing and creating the finished dresses. She is smart with her degrees and actual use of them. Amanda has that modest beauty, grace, and Southern charm. Oh, her manners. She is just marvelous. Did I mention that she can see ghosts? Well, Amanda has that gift of sight. She is such a wonderfully positive character.

Amanda’s one flaw would be self-confidence. I feel part of that has to do with her mother. But the men in her family make up for that.
Maxine “Max” Englebright
Max is just so pure; she has such sophistication and grace. Yet, she is also a little snarky, and oh, her expressions are to die for. Max seems so tough and worldly, but she has a heart of gold. Amanda is teaching Max how to use technology, but in turn, she is giving Amanda the courage to make her design business shine.

Max’s flaw would be that she is a ghost and can’t leave the house.

I would consider Amanda and Max to both be the sleuths in this mystery as they are both of the curious nature. Max a bit more, but she can’t go around asking questions now can she? I feel like these two will be the best of friends, Amanda since she likes her fashions from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s and Max who is one of the original fighters for women’s rights in the 20s.
Dave Tucker
I felt like he has to be mentioned. Dave also is known as “Grandpa” to Amanda and “Silver Fox” to Max, is such a gracious and loving man. He takes care of his granddaughter, with love and encouragement. Dave cooks, make bookshelves, but most importantly he is there to spend time with Amanda and now Max. Oh, and Dave also has the sight as his grandmother did. So, that trait must skip a generation.
Mystery
The mystery is well plotted with a few red herrings here and there. I enjoyed the dynamics of the recent murder, and the explanation of Max’s death is combined with a little history thrown in was well done.
5 Stars for Designs on Murder by Gayle Leeson
My rating for Designs on Murder by Gayle Leeson is five stars. This story is so wonderfully written and filled with humor, drama, mystery, history, and fashions. I think its lovely and recommend it all the cozy mystery and ghost lovers out there.

Wow, just WOW! Gayle Leeson has written a book that is the total Cat's Pyjamas! Murder, Ghosts and Fashion ... oh MY!

I wish I had the spirit of either Amanda or Max, Amanda (with prompting from Max) has decided that corporate life isn't for her and with the backing of her beloved Grandfather Dave (who also loaned her the down payment), she has leased a shop in an old house (there are half a dozen units as well as the general office), she has decided to go for it and set up a bespoke fashion shop, with the emphasis on Vintage Styling (and this is where Max comes in, as she died in 1930!), the week before she opens, whilst setting the shop up, one of the other tenants is murdered.  Now with a hunky photographer, a ghostly sidekick and her up for anything Grandfather, Amanda needs to find out what has happened before she joins Max on the other side!

I thought this book was a really fun ride.

As soon as Amanda made the decision to start Designs on You, a fashion design studio, she ran into a lady named Max. Max was cool, quirky and... a ghost, a flapper from the 1930’s. Amanda had been able to see Max as soon as she walked into the building. It was an odd phenomena since Max hadn’t spoken to anyone since she died. Shops on Main, where Amanda opened her business, used to be a Victorian house. She had fallen down the stairs on her way to a date and died instantly.

Not long after she began her business, a man who owned a graphic design business in the building and was getting ready to close it, was found murdered. This put Amanda on edge and made Max want to find out who the killer was. Max was a real go-getter. In her time, she was on the cutting edge of society. She was the first to bob her hair and was an advocate for women’s rights.

Amanda told her Grandpa Dave about Max and when he came to the shop one day, he could see her too!

Max’s meddling had put Amanda in danger more than once during the course of the book. Everyone is a suspect and it is hard to figure out who might have wanted the graphic artist dead. Like I said above, it was just fun, a real joy to read. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Definitely check this one out.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

I’m a sucker for books based in historical locations and places I have lived in. With an influx of new cozy series choices out there right now, I was looking for a few new options. When I saw this book based in Abingdon, Virginia adding it to my reading list was an easy decision. And I’m glad that I did.

When Amanda Tucker finally follows her passion and opens her own fashion design shop in an old building, she’s not only excited about striking out on her own, she’s excited to find that her lease comes with a resident ghost who died in the property back when it was her family home. But that’s not the only dead resident in the building when one of the other business owners is shot and killed his office.

When grandpa Dave comes to visit Amanda’s shop, it turns out he too can see Max, the resident ghost. Soon the three of them are trying to find out who the murderer is and seem to stumble upon something else sinister going on in the shops. But will Amanda be joining Max, or will the three of them solve the murder before they strike again?

The mystery was well planned out and had a few red herrings to keep you guessing. But when you get the piece of information that helps make things click a bit more, you realize just how brilliantly it was laid out. I am looking forward to seeing how this series builds from here.

A fun new "ghost" of a series!

Being a fan of books that feature ghosts as a part of a crime solving team, Designs on Murder was a fun read!

When Amanda opens a custom made dress shop, in a historic building, she finds along with her fellow business owners, a lively ghost named Maxine "Max" resides in the building. While trying to solve the murder of a previous tenant, Amanda delves into the mystery of Max's death.

I enjoyed the supporting characters - Amanda"s supportive Grandpa Dave, her feisty feline Jazzy, Jason the handsome photographer, Connie - a home designer, Ford - a rare book collector, Janice - a jewelry shop owner, Frank & Ella- owners of a paper shop and Mrs. Meacham, her landlord all kept me guessing as to "whodunit".

Max, the resident ghost, was a fun and important part of the book. I loved the character's witty dialogue, fashion (her 1920's/30's fashion fits perfectly with Amanda's vintage designs) and determination to help Amanda solve the murder. I also loved the description of the fashions that Amanda created...they were magical!

I'm looking forward to the next book!

Amanda Tucker takes the big leap to open a clothing design studio in a quaint old house alongside a handful of specialty shops. With the desirable location, she inherits a sassy ghost who proves a capable sleuthing partner when another tenant is murdered. Amanda focuses on launching her new business while she and her loving, supportive grandfather try to discover the identity of the murderer. But if it’s another one of the tenants, is she in danger?

As a vintage clothing enthusiast and collector, I was drawn by Amanda’s determination to open her store catering to vintage designs. Max, the ghost who died in the house in 1930, also provided a delightful, fun spark with her witty phrases and interest in pop culture. Not to mention her ability to investigate “behind the scenes” of the murder. There’s the sweet beginning of a romance with another young renter in the building, and Amanda also has an endearing, close relationship with her grandfather, Dave.

Cozy mystery lovers who appreciate flourishes of fashion, ghostly helpers, and adorable cat companions definitely will enjoy the story. As the beginning of a series, the added bonus is there’s bound to be a heightened level of mystery, romance, and fashion in every book.

I loved this first in the series. Amanda decides to open design studio in a huge old building that holds other shop owners. When she is realizes that her new friend is a ghost from the 1930's and a dead body is found, you know that this is going to be an interesting read.
I loved the characters in this story, they are diverse and mostly likable. The mystery has plenty of twists to it and you don't know who to trust or believe. I loved Max the ghost, she's spunky and fun. I also love the relationship Amanda has with her grandfather. This story grabbed me from the first page and kept things moving.
I will continue on with this series. I also enjoyed the notes is the back of some historical facts that were in the story.

A very cute cozy!
Amanda Tucker opens her custom clothing design shop.
A cute area of older shops and in a historic building with a ghost on the property.
Max Englebright, the ghost, died in the 20's died on the property.
Another shop owner in the building is shot and killed in his office upstairs.
Amanda and Max are on the case!
Luckily, Max can spy on others without them knowing she is there which comes in handy when trying to figure out who the guilty party is.
Great characters, like the handsome photographer upstairs and Grandpa Dave always on Amanda's side. Fun and sassy. Enjoyable cozy!
Will look forward to any others in the series.

What a fun thrilling read. I truly enjoyed every single minute I read this book. Like seriously, who wouldn't want to have a fabulous ghost as a friend? Me!!

Plus Max the ghost knew fashion, could read books on a tablet, walk through walls, was hilarious and was the next Agatha Christie solving crimes. The best name calling I have ever heard "pillowcase" & "elephant eyebrows" were truly the funniest thing I read in this book. The plot was head on with the story. The characters were so fantastic. All the characters were so suspicious after the murder was committed. It was a great book of who done it? I loved Amanda. She is very spontaneous, smart and talented. Her relationship with her grandfather was so lovely. My favorite character is Max who truly made this book one of the best series that all fashionistas like me need to read and enjoy. I cannot wait for the next book to hit the shelves.

A super fun intro a new cozy series! I really loved this mystery, from the setting, to the fact that Amanda is setting up a new clothing boutique to the mystery to her new friend Max-who's a ghost! A charming cozy and I can't wait for the next installment!

I loved this book. I like the ghost who is woman that died in the 1920's so uses all that slang. There is humor and the mystery is there but is never pushed. Can't wait to read the next in the series. The book was a quick easy read.

I loved it! The author did an excellent job of combining eras; now and Max's time. Max is a ghost, but the author didn't overdo this character. She made Max funny, cheeky and likeable. I think she was my favorite character in the book. And there were some great characters to choose from. The main character solves the murder in the shops where her new saloon is opening with the help of her cat, grandfather and the photographer up stairs. Romance is heating up, too. I've already downloaded the next book in the series, and I think you will really enjoy this one. I highly recommend this book.

Great book

This was a great mystery. I love that the main character designs clothing. I love that she has a pet and can talk to ghosts. I am excited to read the next novel in this series. I definitely recommend reading this novel.
