I need to save the tiger shifter before it’s too late-- but I have my own fires to jump through.
Every burn on his paws, every poke and prod from his cruel masters, I feel as if it were my own. I also feel his anger and his thirst for blood. He’s even more of a predator than Hunter or Razvan. There’s a danger about this tiger shifter I’ve never experienced before.
But the road leading to his rescue takes a detour to my past. I’ve thought about my siblings every day since I walked away from that place, and the monsters I left them with. They need to know I haven’t abandoned them, that I’m doing everything I can to get them out. Even if it means facing her.
If it weren’t for the three amazing men in my life, I wouldn’t have a single shred of hope of facing either of these obstacles. I can only hope their love is enough to get me through it all.
Step right up. The ride’s not over yet.
Jump through Fire is the fourth installment in the Harem of Freaks series, which should be read in order. Contains violence, M/M, and M/F sexual content.
Every book in this series seems to crank the spice up farther and farther and this book is no exception. Finally got some MM action and we have met who I am pretty sure is going to eventually be her fourth.
As usual, we ended on a cliffhanger and this was a pretty big one too. So I'm excited about book 5. And with the ending of this book, I'm more than halfway through the series. Finishing each book is bittersweet as all good books are. Getting more of the story while at the same time knowing we are getting closer to the end.
Jump through Fire is the fourth book within the Harem of Freaks series.
We have finally met the tiger - aka the new addition to the harem. Which means there's so much dumb drama happening within the harem. I don't get it. Why are they all annoying me so much? Other than that, Melody's powers definitely intrigue me because of the visions and dreams she's getting. It's the only thing I like about her because the giggling and immaturity is annoying me.
I'm also really into Hunter and Raz right now. If the book was only about them, I probably would have been super happy. Well, happier at least. At least the chemistry between everyone is good and somehow getting me through these books.
While the cheese level was off the charts this time and Melody continued to have little fits, quite a lot of plot and development takes place throughout the book. Melody’s powers have only continued to get stronger. She’s been having visions and dreams as if she’s in someone else mind. Of course the do-gooder in her won’t leave a single shifter in cruel hands no matter the personal cost so off they go on another stealth mission. As they’re traveling cross country they make a few stops along the way. One stop on the road is in Alabama to the trailer park she ran from only one month ago. When she says she had a bad home life, she ain’t lying. Her mother is vile and disgusting. No kids, Melody’s siblings, should be let near that woman let alone have to live with her. It does explain a lot of Melody’s immaturity and need for love/attention. Once leaving she finally found something that was hers and now if she’ll only stop acting like a baby, when there are actual children around I’ll be happy and the guys might stick around. This wasn’t a bad end but I’m still ready to dive in to see what they’ll get up to next or who they may save. One thing I noticed quite often while reading was how conveniently placed Hunters kids are within the story. Once they begin traveling on the road it was hard to track where the children were and they seemed to only come out sporadically when in reality they’d be underfoot for most of their travels. Just something minor that bugged me.
Meh... Another lackluster installment to be honest. Book 1 is probably the best in this series and again things move a bit too quicky for my taste and the resolution of the intrigue/issues are very convenient. I'm disappointed.
Connor is definitely my favorite and this story didn't had to be reverse harem, I like the way things move between them in the first book and I was satisfied with that. I still feel like the shifters/paranormal aspect of this book doesn't make sense in this type of setting, it feels like two different vibe/genre that don't match together. Very strange.
The heat, the drama and the feels are turning up! Mel and her guys have to face the ghosts of their pasts, and new challenges continue to loom in front of them. I’m looking forward to the next book, because indeed, managing 4 men, 2 pups, and a plethora of challenges is like walking a tightrope.
Mel is a very mature 18 yr old, But every once in awhile, her age is definitely noticed. Running away at the hospital like that…. She did get some pretty good benefits after tho! 😉😉 Hunter and Raz are officially in the “pack.” Conor eventually gets the stick out of his butt and listens to his woman.
Now they are in Georgia - trying to make more money and possibly save more shifters. While their individual relationships seem to be doing great, do they have what it takes to make it together? Will Hunter’s past come back and judge him? And Arjun. What is the deal here? I can’t actually tell if he’ll be in this harem or not? Can’t wait to find out.
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 4/5 *Romance 2/5 *First person POV *Quick Read *MM in this one. *MMFM Romance, so far.
4.5 stars. Things are getting interesting, y’all. I love where their relationships are going. It’s really satisfying to see them grow together and get more entangled around each other’s lives.
I honestly have no clue where they’ll be going from here, but I’m excited to see. And that cliffhanger. Im really hoping things go well with that. I have a sort of bad feeling about it and I’m just hoping I’m wrong honestly.
I guess we’ll see. I like how fast these books are moving and how short they are. They’re very easy to binge how I like to do.
3.5 ⭐⭐⭐ "Jump Through Fire" by Crystal Ash shows improvement in its plot compared to previous books in the series. The story has become more engaging, offering a better overall experience. However, it's still burdened with unnecessary angst that can be a bit tiresome. While not without its flaws, it's a step in the right direction for the series, earning it a 3.5-star rating.
Book 4 of the series and it just might be my favorite so far. I've definitely grown attached to this little family of misfits. Love them all.
Spoilerish thoughts ahead...

Love the chemistry between Mel and the guys, and I love that they've actually become a family. They all care for each other in different ways and accept and love each other. Absolutely love the relationship between Raz and Hunter. I love that there's some kind of queer representation in this series. The cast of characters is quite diverse, especially now with the addition of Arjun. He's an interesting new character and I look forward to knowing more about him. I'm also looking forward to meeting Hunter's pack, to see what happens with Connor and I can't wait till Mel develops her Shaman skills even more. This is a great series so far and I'm hooked.

And 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 for the person of color added to the story. I was getting a little concerned. Just a little tho. Each book in this series adds another obstacle. Another tragedy. And another damn cliffhanger. Ready for the next book in the series.
I stumbled on books 1-3 on Scribd (I loved Crystal's Steel Demons MC audiobooks so much, I thought why not try out the circus from her too haha) and I really enjoyed them. I hope one day the rest can be on audio too but I couldn't wait and needed to know how the rest of the story went! We get so many rollercoaster moments in this book, it kept me anxious and wanting to read on because I needed them to get to a happy place, even if for a couple pages haha. I loved seeing Raz grow in this book and I was happy to see him and Hunter make steps in their budding romance as well (sorry for any spoilers, you would have known if you read book 3 beforehand anyway haha). I was happy to things work out for Connor after the ordeal he has been dealing with. I love Hunter's kids so much, so freaking cute and a little levity in the story when there are a lot of tough subjects.
I am interested to see what happens after the ending of JTF because of their newest member (loved Melody's POVs in regards to her shaman powers) and the shocker at the end regarding Hunter. I was happy to see Hunter was finally back on track but I don't think that will last long with the latest development. This group can never catch a break, can they?!!? I hope we get to see more circus acts/scenes because it was nice to get some in this one (with the rescue attempt and ensuing chaos).
I am downloading Book 5 right after this, need to see how Melody will help her family, what will Hunter do now that he has a surprise that will shake up his life and his kids, and how will Connor do at the center and getting his life back!?! Oh and where does Raz fit in all of this? I loved seeing his vulnerability along with his sexy bad boy dragon act haha. And who doesn't love his circus skills with fire and knives!?!
I am now fascinated with sword swallowing... not the dirty kind either
This book was amazing. This series just keeps getting better and better and I am so happy it was suggested to me! The balancing act with all the relationships is still a big and interesting part of this story which I think is important to include. I love reading how Connor is finally getting the help he needs and deserves for what he did while serving in the Marines.
The developing MM relationship with Raz and Hunter is super hot to read! I have seriously been obsessed with researching sword swallowing, and I’m not talking about fellatio. 😉☺️ That whole concept is freaking awesome and I loved that it is included in this book. I can only imagine how Raz can put his sword swallowing tricks to use when him and Hunter are together again 😍🤩
The whole shaman concept is still a major part of the story but I don’t feel like it overshadows the importance of this new family that is being built between all of them. I am loving how the author has created this world and story. Most books focus on the paranormal/supernatural aspect of the characters which then has relationships that either just follow suit naturally or feels forced because of the supernatural aspect... this book is mostly focused on the relationships and the fact that Mel is a shaman almost feels like it just takes a backseat most of the time because no one seems to care as long as they are all together and happy.
I am in love with this series and I can’t wait to read the next one but then again I know I am getting closer to the final book 😩
It gets even more intense in this one! More personal drama for a lot of characters. That was fun. It was the first RH book I read where MM was so detailed. I kind of felt a little awkward, to be absolutely honest. As a bisexual woman, I'm all for all kinds of adult consentual relationship. Although, I'm not a man and I cannot put myself in a man's shoes for some reason (not like with FMC). It's something in my head, my own personal problem. That's why I only read books with female protagonists and don't really like multiple POVs. I did an exception for this series because carnivals! Anyway, that created the effect like I accidentally walked in a wrong room in the middle of you-know-what and just STAYED there, lol. Very awkward. But I'm happy they are together, don't get me wrong. I've nothing against MM in the books I read. I do have something against typos though. I encounter them more and more with each book. Also, too many POVs now. I'm sorry. But I'm getting a whiplash every time it's changing. Only because of those two things, I give it three stars.
The fourth book in this series is a little different (still amazing). We see the circus in it, but it’s not quite the key setting that we’ve seen in the other books. We also meet another shifter, and I can’t decide if he’s going to be in the “family” or not. I think so, but he’s the first to be introduced who isn’t head over heels for Mel, and it creates an interesting and fresh dynamic to the book. We also start to see the group develop as a “family,” rather than just individuals who are all interested in Mel. Because of this, we get to see a lot more of the guys’ points of view in this story, and I really enjoyed it, as it gives a much more complete picture of the group dynamic. I basically finished this book in one sitting on the weekend that it came out, so now I have to wait until book 5 comes out to see what happens next, and it may kill me.
It definitely enjoyed the world the author created and how each one of the characters in the harem had different personalities and their own insecurities and such. Personally I thought the 6 books could be condensed down to 3, but whatever, more money for the author.
It kept reminding you that the main character was 18, but I think it kept reminding you of this because none of these characters seemed like the age they were (18-23ish). I don’t know if the author wanted the characters to be younger for a New Adult type of age group or what, but they all seemed too mature to be in that age range. Which I’m totally cool with because I ignore that it kept saying she was 18 and just read like she was mid 20’s or so.
Drama. Smut. Imperfect characters. Bisexual relationships. Overall pretty fun set of books.
My favourite of the series so far! So many things to love about this book - all of the characters (our FMC, 4 guys, and 2 children), character personality growth, relationship development, super steamy scenes, and the compassion of secondary characters showing that not everyone is out for themselves.
We have some amazing moments where we witness the characters going outside their comfort zones. I love the addition of Arjun, a shifter who is a little feral from the amount of time she spent being his animal. But it only makes his human moments more hilarious. We also have Hunter and Razvan developing, with some MM moments during group steamy scenes.
I have to admit, I absolutely hated the ending... only because I now have to actually wait for book #5 - Tightrope!
It just keeps getting better! Each new addition to this series adds more love, excitement and spice to the lives of this misfit group. And I’m so here for it.
This book was hard. Mainly because of new feelings arising and Melody revisiting her family home. This book was a small glimpse into the life she had prior to chasing the carnival scene.
The addition of Arjun definitely brought the comic relief that was needed. He’s cheeky and I can’t help but love him and want to know more about him. I know he’s emotionally wounded but I can’t wait to see more of his character arc.
This series has been so hard to put down and I’m excited to continue it. Based on the blurb for the next book, I’m going to have to buckle up for some heartache but I know Crystal will make it right in the end.
This series just keeps getting better! The story in each book is always unique and fun with a little danger thrown in, and the series as a whole continues to progress nicely leaving the reader wondering what will come next.
There was a good deal of character development in this book, including the addition of a new character. We only get tidbits about this new guy, but already he's shaking things up. The development of Raz, Hunter, and Connor were my favorite in this book. Their characters are really fleshing out, and their relationships together and with Mel are developing nicely.
Jump through Fire is absolutely amazing. I love the latest addition of the Harem of Freaks series!
I love the progression on the story with Melody and her men. Melody continues to grow, determine to rescue Shifters, especially a stubborn Tiger and to help Conner heal. The M/M scene is hot!!! I love the chemistry and the complexity of the characters. The depth and how the characters play off each other is fantastic! What a fantastic job, Crystal has done!
Okay, so, this one is weird. There's a lot that doesn't quite make sense, not in the storyline or reality. Some is quite hard to follow, and is not memorable. In the romance aspect, I loved how Mel's bond with the guys is growing stronger, and they are starting to give in, rather than argue they aren't worthy of her. I enjoyed meeting the tiger, even though he's a whiner. He complains a lot and barely has a legit conversation with Mel until the end. All in all, the book is good, but will leave you with a lot of questions.
Paranormal. Rh. 5 guys. 4 Shifters. 1 Hot Disabled Vet. Shaman heroine. This time they are headed to a town in GA for Connor's prosthetic appointment and keeping an eye out for the tiger in Mel's visions. This one has some M/M going one too! I'm liking the tension that going on with the story line. Still loving Mel and the guys. I can't wait what's in store with the next one.
This may not be for all since theres some MM and MfMM action but if it's for you well grab your hats! You're in for a wild ride in this book. Nothing bad to say from the next in the series. Not long enough maybe! The story picks right up from the last book and keeps on with it. I didnt put it down just so you know. Now a tiger is added to the mix of shifters and humans. And the chemistry between them all is scorching hot. 2 thumbs up!
Mel’s story (along with her men) continues. As more is learned about what being a shaman entails, and new additions and developments happens to the group, how will all the issues be solved? This book ends in a cliffhanger, and appears to be building up to see how Mel will be able to make a difference for shifters everywhere and also help her siblings escape the horrible life that she once suffered through.
Okay, so we got some m/m scenes between two of the guys and I like the turn this has taken. Their bond is tentative but so sweet and I'm happy that they're all happy.
We added another guy to the mix and he's pissing Mel off lol. They're still figuring it all out, but I think they have good chemistry so it's only a matter of time.
There was a surprise that I'm not loving. Did we really need to through that in the mix? It's only been like a month or two max.
Things are heating up, not only with melody and her men but even her men are getting in on the action with each other so if your ok with some M/M in a harem then your in for a treat.
Not sure if this cliffhanger is gonna lead to good news or bad news for one of Melody’s men.
Wasn’t sure how I felt about melody being with more than one guy, and she’s still only a baby at 18 years old. Connor was it for me but I can’t help the others.
Wowzers. My only complaint? There were no more pages. Mel and her guys continue their journey as she learns more about being a shaman and surprises abound. I am loving the dynamics between the characters and the glimpses into Circus life. As well as the bonding going on in their 'family'. I am excited for the next book in the series.
Yes again another fantastic read by this author. Crystal Ash has not disappointed yet on any of her books. Hot men, paranormal, and steam. What more can I ask for. Except maybe the next book. This is by far my favorite book. Well my favorite series as well. Author knows how to weave the story and make you believe your part of it. Absolutely loving series.
The series is progressing along well. I love Mel and her interactions with the most of the men. I am not sure how I feel about the tiger yet. His attitude is jarring, but hopefully things will even out in the end.
Roo and and Rina are so adorable. I love their enthusiasm. Crystal did really well on their characterization .
I just started this and it’s over already. I’m glad these are a completed series or I might be in trouble with how quickly I’m getting through them. I’m really enjoying this story. This particular book has a daring rescue and a new place to call their own for the time being.
Melody and the gang are off to get the help that Connor needs but along the way someone needs rescuing. Arjun is a tiger shifter that is abused while in a carnival. They are quite a family. Hunter hears something he never thought he would, other wolves, specifically his brothers. TBC
