Hookups weren’t for her.
Rachel knew that. She was a good girl—sigh—she’d always been a good girl.
Except when it came to him.
She’d met the him in question in a bar of all places and his lean strength, gorgeous face, and way-too-charming personality had combined to shatter her defenses. All of a sudden she’d been doing all of those “dangerous, bad girl” things her grandmother had once warned her of.
And just like her grandma had predicted, he’d vanished come morning.
No note. No exchanged numbers. She hadn’t even known his name.
Fine. Whatever. Rachel had chalked it up to a horrible—albeit, wholly pleasurable—mistake and moved on. She was the assistant to Heather O’Keith, a kick ass, take-no-prisoners CEO of a billion dollar corporation, she didn’t have time to sit around and worry over a man.
But then Heather had gotten her happily ever after by marrying equally successful business entrepreneur, Clay Steele, and Rachel discovered that she had to work in close, day-to-day contact with him.
Sebastian Henley. The man from the bar. The sexy, gorgeous, irresistible disappearing man from the bar.
USA Today bestselling author, Elise Faber, loves chocolate, Star Wars, and hockey (the order depending on the day and how well her team—the Sharks!—are playing). She and her husband also play as much hockey as they can squeeze into their schedules, so much so that their typical date night is spent on the ice. A very enjoyable read. It is a short story actually. Not novella category, but too short for full length novel. Sebastian is my type of hero. Alpha male with a healthy dose of insecurity and vulnerability. He is just perfect. How he navigates his attraction toward Rachel is cute and yet fun.
Rachel meanwhile is a stong heroine. After a very abusive relationship, she picks up her life back together. She have a strong support friends. Listening to their attraction unfold is a very entertaining.
Meeh. The epilogues of the previous books are always good and always make you curious for the next books, but then the next books never deliver and are kind of boring..
I hoped and expected it to be as short and sweet as the first one, but it clearly wasn’t. It was hard to connect to the story and the characters, and the way things progressed between the main characters felt unnatural and rushed.
This series is not something I would like to continue reading.
Spoiler alert!
Plot: The coincidentally meet again after having a one night stand a few weeks ago. He’s persistent on starting something with her but she’s trying to keep him away. She’s hiding from her soon to be ex husband who was abusive. Still, they end up together and at the very end the ex husband shows up and almost kills her. In some weird way, the ex is the one ending up dead by himself and she gets away with only a broken foot and a few bruises. They end up happily ever after.
Rules are meant to be followed or else hearts are bound to be broken. For Rachel those are words to live by. Life has not always been kind and love has bruised a lot more than her heart. Sebastian could be just the distraction she needs to heal her fragile soul. One night of unbridled pleasure leads to a disappointing morning after. Will the sting of the morning after, deter these wounded hearts from taking a chance on love? Bad Hookup goes beyond the sexy. Faber paints a tale of heartbreak that wraps around a heart. Spice is nice, but love is so much more.
Rachel has run away from her abusive past landed her self a great job and a great circle of friends. Meeting a hot guy in a bar she does something she would never dream of and takes him back to her hotel room, only to return from the shower after the best night of her life and find him gone. Sebastian (Bas) typical middle child syndrome thinking hes not good enough and cant live up to his siblings acomplishments, could kick himself when he has to rush out on the hot girl after he gets a work call and later realises he didnt get any of her details. Fast forward to Rachel boss Heathers wedding and who happens to be there but hot bar guy (Bas) who just happens to be Heathers husbands assistant. Great Characters in this book, Bas isnt the mega confident guy you may initially think, and has issues of not being good enough. Rachel after going through hell in her past isn't as weak as one may believe but is she ready to trust and fight for the life she wants. Rachel has a great group of funny, loyal wine drinking friends (similar to my own)who are there to help her when she doubts her decision making and Bas has a great family who aren't as blind to his feelings of being the odd child out as he thinks. Will they get their happy ever after or will Rachels ex suddenly lighting up her phone and on the war path spoil things ??? A great read, I really enjoyed this book
I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.
This is book 4 in the series and the series is still pretty fun and magical. It actually brings together two of the authors series so I actually stopped reading midway so I could read book 3 in this series and also the novella about Clay's brother who is seen in this story with his wife.
While this is book 4, and it can stand alone, you really should at least read book 3 as that really introduces all the players in this story.
Book 3 stars Clay Steele and Heather, a couple that ends up hitched in Vegas and they are business adversaries. They each have assistants and Heather's assistant is Rachel and Clay's is Sebastien. This story starts at Clay and Heather's wedding and the two form a friendship and a business relationship and romance because of their bosses.
In this story we really learn who Rachel is and she is smart and a fighter and she is married in this story. I am spoiling that because its a big deal to some and she has sex with Seb while married. But Rachel has the worst ex ever and she is just about to be divorced. So this story has so BIG drama relating to her ex and I am nots spoiling that.
This was a fun story with lots of drama and some wonderful and strong characters.
Elsie Faber has been an author on my radar for awhile, I just haven't had a chance to read any of her books, so when given an ARC copy of Bad Hookup I jumped right it. I am so happy that I did, I loved this book! This is Rachel and Sebastian's story and while very emotional(I cried in some scenes) it was a great read. Rachel is coming out of an abusive marriage and Sebastian is a guy she has a one night fling with, and as circumstances play out they are now connected because their bosses met and fell in love! While Rachel and Sebastian are building on their one night fling they are both dealing with inner turmoil. Rachel dealing with the scars left behind of her abusive husband and Sebastian dealing with his own self esteem, they are both so relate-able. Throw in the dialogue from Rachel's group of girlfriends and this book is a total winner! I swear reading the banter between all of the girls in group sounded like my own group of friends! The story was well paced and the characters well developed. I loved it! Now I have to go and read the rest of the books in the series!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again--I love discovering a new-to-me author that I totally connect with. When the style of writing, story line, and characters meet everything I'm looking for, I'm truly smitten.
I'll be honest, I was a little hesitant staring the Billionaire's Club series with the fourth book, but boy am I glad I did. Not only do I have to go back and start at the beginning now, but I'm hooked. Rachel and Sebastian's story was intense and full of chemistry and often times emotional. Who cared that it stemmed from a one-night fling. To me, that made me want them together even more! I love stories like that and in this case, I was hooked. Faber lured me in slowly and wouldn't let go. The story was meticulously written and I found I had a hard time putting it down.
Bad Hookup is truly worth the read and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The characters are addicting and their banter is off the charts. But don't think you can just read a couple chapters and come back later to read more. Oh no, this author will have you glued to the pages! Great story with all the feels!
Made it to chapter 7. DNF. I’m not sure how anyone would call this short because up to Chapter 7 it was dragging and I just wanted it to grab my interest more, be exciting, or alas just be over. Well this book was DOA for me. I couldn’t connect with any characters and the writer didn’t make me care to. Rachel has been in abusive situations and I felt nothing toward her. That’s so sad and on the writer. Based on other reviews I skimmed it seems the plot is pretty predictable. Snooze.
This was the first book in the series I read. I won’t be reading the rest of the series.
I thought I was getting a billionaire story. This was dude (assistant) adjacent learning from the billionaire. False advertising? Obvs I didn’t stick around to find out if Sebastian ever is a billionaire at some point.
Spoiler ?- Rachel is a cheater. She is technically still married when she has a one night stand with Sebastian. Albeit the husband is abusive physically and she has fled him and Iowa to be in California. Divorce is 20 some days from being finalized. So you make a judgement call on how you feel about that.
This was a fast paced office romance and definitely falls under the category of insta-love. If you are not a fan of overnight love fests I would definitely plan to skip over this book and well probably the series as a whole. Each book is a stand-alone so you can read in any order. For those of you with triggers, while this book is not graphic or dark by any means it does deal with some tough themes. As a whole it is a light-hearted fun read. While I definitely enjoyed the book and would recommend to those looking for a fun office romance, this book just was an every day read for me and really won't stand out in the crowd down the road with the sheer volume I personally read. With that being said, the Author and writing were both great, but based on day/mood this just didn't quite hit me the way I think the Author intended, but very well could do so for you and others. Definitely a 2 thumbs up if the blurb appeals to you, and the above warnings are non-issues.
I received an ARC copy an want to leave an honest review.
Rachel was absolutely endearing! After physical abuse from her father during the few months she had to see him to the mental abuse she received from her grandparents the rest. She thought she was escaping the abuse when she met and married Preston Johnston who turned out to be worse. When she finally gets the chance to escape the abuse she gets as far away as the can and starts a new life. Enter dreamy sweet caring Sebastian who has a one night stand with Rachel never exchanging names or numbers. Till their bosses fall for each other and get married. Rachel and Sebastian run into each other at the wedding and exchange some words. Rachel fights the feeling she has for Sebastian because of her past unsure if she can let a man into her life after what she experienced.
Elise Faber is a new to me Author and far exceeded any expectations I could have had! Can’t wait to read more of her work!
I know it’s a short story (under 200) but it was such a quick switch - they were “frenemies” minus the enemies and then all of a sudden she was jumping on him and he was calling her baby. I prefer some delayed gratification.
I also kind of wish we got more of him thinking about her before he met her because it seems like all of a sudden, after seeing her since the one night stand that he hasn’t stopped thinking about her but I’m not feeling complete authenticity.
The poem shit is so cringe.
Rachel doesn’t mention anything about Sebastian in her thoughts but then after their encounter in her office - where things turned from nasty to intimate, she talks to Bec about how he’s more than sex - but like where that did come from??? After a few kisses?
Some (or almost all) of their talk in the bedroom was so cringy I was debating whether this was a DNF.
That was an extremely sweet but heartbreaking short read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It breaks my heart to think that there are people out there who think they have the right to not only hurt but control another person, especially one who isn't mentally or physically strong. It was because of this that my heart broke for Rachel. I loved the support group she had, especially in Sebastian (Bas). Speaking of Bas, I loved him. He was sweet, kind, caring, and willing to do anything to make Rachel happy. He was perfect for her and fell into her life at the right moment. I'm so glad these two found each other. I think Rachel could have easily survived with Bas but I know she gave him the added strength that she needed to fight for herself. This was a great story and I'm glad I got a chance to read it. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Bad Hookup is a amazing read. If you have been following along with this series (not that you have to read in order..but you should) then you are at least familiar with Rachel as Heather's right hand girl. This is her time for her love. When bosses get married it is only right for their assistants to couple up too right? Little did Rachel and Sebastian know is this their second chance. Hooks up never goes as planned in the beginning. I love the chemistry between Sebastian and Rachel. They get each other so well. And once you learn of Rachel's past you get why she is the way she is. You feel for her. But it is amazing to watch Sebastian with her. The Billionaire's Club is an amazing series to pick up. There are some giggle's to be have, very fan yourself sexy moments and fun to watch each couple fall fast. I love Rachel and Sebastian's story. You need to pick this one up.
Rachel escaped her abusive ex husband.. Now she is ready for something fun in her life and a man when she meets Sebastian at a bar and takes him to her hotel she never expected her one night stand to end with him leaving and them not even exchanging names or numbers
Sebastian can't get her out of his head, the one woman who finally made him feel even if just for one night. With no name or number he can't find her to see if there could be more until his boss gets married. The woman of his dreams is none other than his boss's new bride's assistant and he finally has a name
Their love is growing but when her ex husband shows up will he put an end to Sebastian and Rachel?
Looking forward to reading the others in this series, this was my first read of Elise's
Wow. The amount that Rachel went through and kept away from the eye can be super hard. It was very eye opening and heart warming how the one night stand turned into so much more. What they endured and overcame. The years of abuse and escaping what would eventually kill her if she stayed. She brought herself up in her bootstraps and escaped that terrible life and remade who she was. They were hiding their love from their bosses but it became inevitable with how they were made for each other. Being soft caring and not pushing her past her comfort zone.
I thoroughly enjoyed this deeply emotional read. The story quickly captured my attention and it was easy for me to connect with the characters. I loved Rachel and Sebastian. They were so perfect for each other. Each character had their own issues and baggage, which is something I always like in a book. Beautiful, heart aching and heart melting, this was wonderful read. Of my own accord I am posting a candid review.
I loved this! Not only was it coming face to face with a hookup, but to do it in the office and attempt to hide it from both their bosses... so much fun! I love these characters. Even without reading the other Billionaire's Club books, they stand out as very clearly defined and well developed. I loved the awkward way this pair had to get over themselves quickly to properly do their work, but had more going on than just a prior hookup.
This is the first book in this series that I’ve read and I loved it! It was amazing! It was beautifully written with fantastic characters! I loved Sebastian and Rachel! They were perfect together! I loved the chemistry between them. It was a great story and I look forward to reading the rest of the series!
Even though I didn't feel like this could be read as a standalone story, I really enjoyed this book. I liked all of the characters and the storyline. Sebastian and Rachel's flirting was cute with all their texting and stuff. This book kept me interested and was sadly over before I was ready to say goodbye to Sebastian and Rachel.
Is it just me or does this book feel shorter and more rushed than the previous ones in the series? Still enjoyed it though, also enjoyed the callbacks to other characters from the series. A fun read that's well-written enough not to annoy you with bad pacing/grammar/dialogue as many in this genre do.
A difficult situation as brilliantly described as the beautifully budding relationship was. Thoroughly enjoyed, thoroughly recommended. This is my re-read of the entire series I have on kindle for the latest offering from Ms Faber. Onward ! Can manage another this evening !
Another failed one-night stand story :) Rachel and Sebastian have a hot one night of loving, but he's called away by an emergency and forgets to leave his number or take Rachel's. Some time later, when Rachel's boss, Heather, marries Sebastian's boss, Clay, the two meet again. And this is Sebastian's chance to win Rachel over.
I wish these books had a different title or cover, because the thing that keeps me coming back to this series is that they are so much more that what they appear to be! This one has some trigger warnings for domestic abuse but is a heartwarming story and the epilogue leads into the next one which sounds intriguing as well.
Billionaire Club #4 follows Rachel who works as an assistant to Heather O'Keith, while on one of the various business trips Rachel does something out of her norm. Rachel has a random hookup and now she find's this person happens to be Sebastion the assistant of her boss' new husband. With the honeymoon over she will now be working with Sebastion, what drama will follow in this short romance.
Being in a violent relationship always makes it hard to trust but kind people who are there for you helps. Rachel has a truly bad childhood coupled with a mentally sick husband whose idea of fun is torturing her. So glad for Sebastian
