Oh So He Cheated, Cheated by Genesis is breathtaking, fresh and one of the best African American Urban Fiction novels out. And it's well worth reading. In this unputdownable book you’ll take an unforgettable ride with Genesis that's signed under Na'Kia Presents. Her writing is very clever, and this story is great. **Warning** This is not your typical Urban romance, dope boy, thug love, or kingpin savage book.
Heart pounding.
Drama filled.
Love story
Women's fiction. “To my surprise, the wedding I naively attended turned out to be the most heartbreaking reality check I’ve ever had. Ironically, my boyfriend was the groom, but I wasn’t the bride. Not only had he been playing me, but he took infidelity to a whole new level by marrying my cousin and it crushed my soul. Oh yes, he cheated, cheated.”
Dr. Koi Montgomery was played by a cold-hearted man she had given her all to. She was a fool in love and had gotten used in the worst way. Adair was her everything, but in the end he wasn’t worth the heartache he’d put her through. Ultimately, the love she gave was filled with hopes and dreams that would be crushed by the two people she trusted the most.
Adair was the epitome of a faithless, unadulterated, cocky man that didn’t deserve none of Koi’s time or affection. He abused her love, and she gullably let him. He took advantage of their relationship without a care in the world. Once a person shows you who they are, believe them the first time. Koi’s mistake was not walking away before it was too late.
What doesn’t break Koi makes her stronger and once the pain subsides, love may still be in the horizon of someone she never expected it to come from. What happens when she finally moves on, and goes after everything she deserves? Will love be kind to her this time around, or will she find herself caught up once again in a loveless relationship?
This could've been good, it ended up being just okay.
The main problem was that the prologue started off strong, drama on high, and then it goes back in time to three years ago. At that point I really didn't care about what happened before because we already know he's a jerk and who he cheated with, I wanted to see the after.
And unfortunately, that before didn't interest me enough to keep going to see the after so I quit halfway through.
But the writing is good, I just wish the story either started from the cheating moment onwards, or showed the cheating moment at the end to keep the readers in suspense as to what could've happened and to keep them guessing who would betray Koi.
Well written story as this book held my attention throughout. Enjoyed the medical aspect. The characters were realistic with good and evil components. Bri was such an unlikable character with the stunt she pulled. I was happy for the couple who made it. Looking forward to reading more from this author
I don’t even know where to begin with this book. I need a drink after reading this. Adair didn’t suffer as much as I thought he should have. What he did was foul in all ways. I won’t say Bree was innocent because she was just as foul as him, but she didn’t deserve what ended up happening to her. Now Bryson was one character that I loved. Her truly loved Koi! Those two were made for each other and had a great relationship and friendship. Adair messing up definitely placed Koi where she needed to be!
Man what can I say... Straight out the gate from the prologue, there was nothing but drama and heartache... I mean this book had me all the way in my feelings and talking all loud to this book and these characters... I was like man be careful for those that say they love you... They will be the ones to hurt you the worst... I loved Koi... She was young yet very smart with a good head on her shoulder with a big heart... She is a pediatric surgeon, and one of the beat there is... She was determined to help save children's lives... So she spent so much time at the hospital, that she had no time for a personal life... But she was okay with that because she had her cousin Bree and her best friend who's is also a surgeon name Bryson... So she felt she was good... Then one day with her doing a favor for her brother Kevin her life quickly changed before her eyes... And this is where her 3 year rollercoaster started.... And along the way she found out that those closest to her would betray her a hurt her in the worst way... Also she started learning a lot about herself... And making big moves career wise... Then we have Adair... I mean he was very handsome and super smooth with the ladies... He is from Atlanta and came to Dalas to try and get away from his home life and some other things... He was a barber and worked in Kevin's barber shop... One day he laid eyes on this beautiful woman named Koi... He just had to shoot his shot... She let be known that she does not have the time for any type of relationship... Yet Adair was determined to have her... But while pursuing her... He was still out here doing his thing... Once him and Koi made things official... He went on and on with how he loves her and has never felt this way about a woman before... He also did all this talking about him being a changed man... YET... Every moment he got the chance... He went out and was sleeping with everyone... The worst part was that he would actually leave his bed with Koi to go do this.. But the first time that Koi found out... She shut it down... But Adair was not having that... He wanted to be with Koi while he was doing his own thing... He pursued her hard and tried to prove a point that he really wants to be with her... Ince he got her back where he wanted her... Boom he was back at it again... but he really had no limits to who he was dealing with... Then we have Bree... She is the cousin and the closest to Koi... she is a known hoe... Yet for some reason she had her eyes on one person... And that was Koi's man... I think she was really jealous of her own cousin... I mean she was doing everything she could to hurt her cousin... But in her ear feeding her all types of bull... Smiling all in her cousins face, while stabbing her in the back as much as she can... Man with cousins like this, who needs family... Then there is Bryson, He is the best friend to Koi... They work together... Brysom is out here being a man whore... But he is an amazing friend... Koi was working really hard and helping to support Adair's dream and business of owning his own barber shop... He knew that Koi was a doctor and has long hours... I mean she let him know this when they meet... Yet he still wanted to be with her... But he was constantly complaining about her always being at work... and gave her the guilt trip... While Adair and Koi were working on getting their relationship together... Here comes Bree begging Koi for a place to stay... All they while in the back of her mind she had an agenda... Some moments I felt like Koi was being so naive... It made me so mad... I wanted her to open her eyes... I also hated that she was doing all that she could to prove that she really loved Adair and wanted to be with him... Only for him to tell her that it wasn't enough... He should have left her alone when she walked away the first time... There was no need for him to keep dragging her along... Just to shatter her world... And completely break her.. Ugh he was so selfish... I was so glad that she had an amazing man like Bryson in her corner... I always felt like they should be together... But I guess like they say... Sometimes when you are on a rollercoaster... You can never really see what is right in fron of you... Oh how I love Karma in this book... Adair and Bree were very selfish... And thought they had it all figured out... But Bree for what she wanted and what she did to her cousin definitely came back to bite her in the butt... Also Adair had people telling him he was making the wrong decision... But he got what he wantd... And only found out how wrong that decision was when it was to late... And because of him making these shady moves... Just cost him everything... All the while Koi was finally able to find the happiness that she deserved... I was so happy to see the turn of events and how it all played out... Now for me to calm down because this book had me heated... Now to check out what is next on the agenda for this author...
So where should I start? Maybe I should start how this story had me all up in my feelings, or maybe how I felt as if I was Koi and I was going thru all that she was going thru? WOW is an understatement to this story. It deserve at least a 10 stars... The characters, man they were the bomb... Koi was by far my favorite heroine in all of the books I have read this year. She is the epitome of a strong black, independent woman, yet loving, soft, lovable, straight, sincere, loyal, friends and man a working strong black woman. Adair, well he deserved everything and anything that came rushing down on him and am so glad he got out of the picture. He truly did not deserve to be amount civilized, grown up, strong people. Bryson, well this was probably the only downside of the story (not enough to not score the highest stars possible), but still a downside. We need to have had a little bit more experience with Bryson. What does he look like? Where are his parents? Family members? How did he meet Koi, and how much he loved her. Bryson seemed to be cute, compassionate, strong and a good man. Bree, just like Adair, took too long to no longer be part of Koi's life. As everyone knows "karma is a bi##h" and she will come ten times better and stronger... She deserved envy thing that came to her.. That said, this is at the top of my favorites reads so far of 2019!!!!
Thus book drew me in from the beginning and had me captivated all tge way through to the end. Koi was such a sweet person and didn't deserve the hand that was Adair and Bree dealt to her. I Bryson was always a good friend to Koi and was there to help her pick up her broken pieces and help put Koi back together. I loved how Kevin and Kehlani was a rider for Koi and was ready to throw down with Adair and Bree who didn't enjoy smelling the roses for to long after they were married. I'm glad that you Anthony and Carmen didn't let Adair and Bree's mess get in the way of their friendships with Koi, Bryson, and Kevin. This was truly a page turner that i didn't want to end.
I gave this I give this author for start because of the grammatical errors. The storyline was well-developed and flowed. Koi is a well educated woman and career-oriented who meets Adair , a man that she falls in love with. Adair is about self gratification and Koi is about consideration , motivation and determination. Koi'ds cousin Bree who is in lust and love with a man that she's willing to sacrifice family and friendship. Bree is willing to trump loyalty, family and friendship for what she believes is love; however, does not like dishonesty and disloyalty. To sum this all up, keep your enemies close , but your family and friends closer, because those are the ones you have to watch the most.
This was was a story of be careful what you wish for. Bree want Adria so bad that she was willing to do anything to get him. She turn back on her best friend and family. She has no moral and in the end it cause everything even her life. He was just as bad if not worst be cause he found out the were cousin he should have said something then it was no way she was supposed have move in with them. What he did when he home to visit showed he was a dog. He thought the grass was greener on the other side. They both got What They deserved. They could even tell her they getting married. The best thing they did was push to someone who really and deserved her.
I really enjoyed this book what can I say about this book hmm well AD was a B.A.N and Bree a trifling skank how can y’all both continue to do My girl wrong AD how do you take her to meet your family and take her back to the hotel only to leave her there only to smash your ex. AD you then thought the grass was greener on the other side with Bree so you went and married her and you found out that it wasn’t that was good for you. Koi girl I was so happy you and Bryce hooked up because he treated you like the Queen that you are. AD next time don’t listen to skank. I recommend this book to all avid readers.
Kudos for this drama filled stand-alone. The storyline was great and came with a karma punch at the end. Koi suffered the ultimate betrayal, but I loved that she moved on instead of considering taking back a cheating, selfish, manipulative, insecure 'man'. He was holding her back anyway, and while I don't have an issue with white collar/blue collar relationships, Adair was just too demanding and immature, or at least it was his excuse to cheat. I couldn't rate 5 stars due to editing and one thing that really irked me was children (although grown), cursing in conversations with their parents; when did this become the norm?
I saw this book several times when I was looking for something new to read but would always look past it. But I decided to read it and I’m glad I did. It’s amazing how koi overcame betrayal and hurt that Adair and her cousin Bree caused her. I loved that even though they did what they did she remained strong. I didn’t see her and Bryson being together because of their friendship. But he made it known to her that he always wanted her and that he was waiting for her. I am glad she finally found the happiness she deserved with Bryson. They say karma is a b*** and it showed up and showed out on Adair and Bree at the end.
I don’t leave reviews often because I’m too busy trying to get to the next read but this one here has left me speechless. My first read from this author and hands down, baby girl did her thing! Adair is a whole itch with a capital B. I just could not understand his way of thinking that caused him to do as he did. I am truly at a loss for words. I will say being immature and in a dire need of growth to admit to mother issues causes major relationship problems. Bree. OMGosh! Mama always said karma comes around 10 fold and you won’t get it how you dished it. I was very disappointed in her character. Koi. A blessing or a lesson.
Man this was my first time reading this author, and I tell you this book was so good,I was up until five am reading after getting getting off of a ten hour shift at 3:30am. The storyline just flowed and held my attention until the end, characters just clicked, the action was unbelievable, and the drama just brought that 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, head on. Love is hard and everything that glitters ain't good for you and what's that old saying you lose them how you get them, what goes around comes around.Loved that ending.
Good read. Koi was an educated woman that worked hard at her job. Koi met Adair a she felt in love with him. Adair was a decent guy but went about things the wrong way. He should have told Koi that he messed around with her cousin before getting into a relationship with her. Bree was Koi’s cousin and best friend. Bree was a hot mess when it came to loyalty. She should have told Koi that she slept with Adair. Bree was willing to mess up her relationship with family and friends over a dude. Karma is real.
Too many inconsistencies, was I the only person who realized the author could not keep up with the story. In the beginning of the book the little sister name was Kamani then by chapter 4 it was Kehlani. Kevin twin that died was originally a boy then later it was a girl who died and inspired Koi to become a doctor. Oh and the ring Adair was going to give Koi went from a 5ct to 4ct before he gave it to Bree. The story was okay but I kept going back and forth trying to figure out why the author kept changing things..really frustrating for me.
This book keep me on ten for most of the book. Adair was a piece of work and Bree was a broken little girl looking for validation the wrong way. She would find out the hard way what true love was. Koi deserved the world for what she survived and how she didn’t allow it to change her humanity.
This was my first book by this author. The title and synopsis were intriguing. There are some errors but nothing too terrible. I would read another story because her storytelling was very good.
I was rooting for Adair and Koi but that nasty Bree just had to have him so she got everything that she deserved. Adair was a selfish person, Koi loved him to death and the way he treated her it's good that he got everything he didn't want and that's a lazy, trifling Bree. I feel so sorry for Ari because Adair act like he doesn't want anything to do with her now. Koi and Bryson was destined to be together so I'm glad they had their happy ever after..***************** Congratulations Genesis this was a very good read.
This book is truly an amazing story!! It's a full length standalone but I want more. The pain, love regret and deceit was all up in this book. Adair, is not who I thought he'd turn out to be. Bree is exactly what I was expecting her to be, she just took it a little further than expected. Bryson was the epitome of a true friend/lover. There is so much to say to describe this book but you'll just have to read it. There should be a follow up on little Ariana. Very good read.
🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️I was so confused! The book was okay. There were so many errors. A patient was coating? I’m sure she meant coding! The author didn’t remember how old she said her characters were from one chapter to the next. She was 27 one chapter then 28 in the next. The twin that died was a brother in one chapter then a sister in next. Her and Kev was a year apart in one chapter but 3 years apart in another one. The sister name was Kehlani one, then kamani the next. Bless it lord!! Take notes if you have to.
If you're in the mood for man hating, pick up this book. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed hating a character so much. Ok, so the terminology, phraseology and I'd say local dialect isn't what you may be used to... but it's amazing once you click with it. I devoured every confrontational moment, hated Adair with a passion and felt full of love for Koi's family.
If you're wondering why I left off 1 star, it was the biro, sanitizer and tracheostomy.... eye rolling moment!
On the whole, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will look out for more from this author.
Karma showed up and showed out. Koi is a good girl with a great heart. Adair thought he had her wrapped around his finger but she had something for him. A one way ticket for a better life. Bree was wrong and she soon found out that it wasn't worth it. Her and Adair was grimey and i didn't like neither one of them. Bryson was so good to Koi he was smart,hard-working and he was all she needed.
I really liked Koi in thid story she had a good heart. Bryson was in love with her the whole time but was waiting on the sidelines. Adair was a fool how you have something good and let of go?! Bree was wrong on so many levels first mistake was not telling her cousin she was sleeping with him first....then it all went down hill from there. Bree and Adair got there karma and it was bad. Great story!
My heart immediately went out for Koi. It was torture going back and reading the beginning of her and Adair knowing how they ended. I was just anxious to see her shine and him regret his actions. I love the love story with her and Bryson. Bree was truly dealt a stiff hand of karma and Adair was a dog, dog through and through! I love the creativity in how the story was arranged and presented.
I’ve read a lot of books, i mean ALOT since i was about 11, reading Donald Goines & Iceberg Slim books, and i can honestly say this is 1 of the best stories I’ve read in a long time. The Authors i have in my collection are bomb asf! I have not read a bad book in a long time. I can’t even pinpoint a certain part about this story that i liked best, the whole book was great from beginning to end! Great job!!!
Adair and Bree could've of went about things differently. Deep down Koi knew Adair was cheating but didn't want to acknowledge it. I feel bad for what happened to Bree but maybe it was her karma. I'm glad Koi finally realized that the love of her life was there the whole time. Bryson was not only patient but a great friend. I'm glad everything worked out for them.
This storyline was really good. Koi was such a good person and she went through hell with Adair in order to realize her true love for Bryson. It was truly messed up that Adair was messing with her cousin and the way that she found out was heartbreaking. It’s sad the Bree died and Adair’s behind was still living, but I’m sure karma will catch up with him. Good book.
In the words of Lyfe Jennings "Never miss a good thing until it's gone". Trurer words have never been spoken. You don't miss ya well until it runs dry. I am so glad that Koi found true happiness. I would've forgiven them only cause it would've helped me. Never would I forget though. Bree didn't realize that the same way she got him was gonna be the same way she lost him!!!!!
I couldn’t believe that opening. Go to a wedding and it’s your cousin and your boyfriends wedding. What in the world. I’m all for helping family, but staying under the same roof as your man who has already cheated on you, was bound to end in disaster. Was sorry to hear about her cousin. Glad she forgave her. Nothing like guilt after a person is no longer here.
Gave you 2 stars because you started the book off with the good part then had the nerves to say 3 years prior. I hate when authors do that. Like I immediately wanna know what went down after that not what went down before... That made me skip through most of the book well nearly the whole book. Wasn’t tryna read nothing until that part came up. That turned me off to even read the book fully and I’m still blew because of it lol
