Trace Black hasn’t forgotten the tragic death of his parents and birth pack. His only focus since then was looking after his twin brother, Casey. Now that Casey has found his fated mate and started a family of his own, Trace has given everyone the cold shoulders, preferring the comfort of solitude. But one alpha who rescued him from being attacked by beta wolves changed everything for Trace, as he once again faces the monster who killed his family. Unfortunately, that same monster is also his fated mate.

A decision made in the heat of anger and vengeance changed Antonio de la Llama’s life, and not for the better. Now an alpha jaguar shifter and fire mage, Antonio spent the next four-hundred years unable to control the evil that burned within himself, thus granting him the name, Diablo. But one encounter with his fated Omega and Diablo has found more reason than ever to prove to Trace that he’s not the same monster who killed his family. That the strength which comes with love is greater than anger. But can Trace put his own anger for the alpha in the past?

An alpha who’s trapped in the flames of hell, and the omega who’s destined to set him free. Can these two troubled souls who’re still trapped by their past learn to let go, so they can face the future together? Will Trace be able to forgive the alpha who stole everything from him, and will Diablo find a new kind of strength worth holding onto?

JM Wolf never thought he would one day say that he's a published M/M romance author. Having a poet for a mother and a sister to once ran a blog, it was only a matter of time before JM discovered his writing genes. In the beginning, his sole purpose in life was to be a singer/songwriter. Writing lyrics was the first step putting his thoughts onto paper. Even while singing, JM always found time to dabble with writing little short stories but never thought too much about it.

Once he reached adulthood, his music dreams left him, but not the feel of writing down what was in his mind. However, that didn't mean music no longer played a part in JM's life. His debut book The Black Feather was inspired by one of his favorite songs. Whether lyrics or love stories, you will always find JM's heart and soul in every word on paper.

JM Wolf lives in Chesapeake, VA with his husband and in-laws. When he's not writing, you could always find reading a good book, spending time with the love of his life, or jamming out to music. He didn't pick the world of literature; the literary world picked him.

4.5 stars, rounded up.

I am completely loving this series and this world that JM Wolf has created, with shifters of all sorts, magic, mpreg, fated mates, a big bad and overall plot line that I feel like is developing very nicely, and a great group of characters that make up a wonderful family and pack.

I would recommend reading the first book in this series before this, since even though this does overlap some of the same events and there are explanations, I think you'd better understand who's who and what's going if you read Frostbite first. (And that was a fun, sexy book too, so why wouldn't you want to read it?!)

Diablo is a jaguar shifter with fire magic. He's live a long, lonely life until he discovers his fated mate - Trace, who we met in the last story. Tracey has been looking out for his twin since his family pack were killed when they were kids. Little does he expect to find out that his fated mate is the very same person responsible for the death of his family. Along the way, we get to see returning characters, get introduced to new ones, and learn a little bit more about the Gifted Ones as well as Tobias' past and what that might mean for his mating with Bruno and Tim (OMG I want their story NOW!)

I really enjoyed this, it had a TON of action and was fast-paced, while still giving great moments for romance, sexy times, some humor, interaction between the pack mates, and advancing the overall plot. Sometimes I felt things moved a bit too quickly as far as the overall period of time between some things, but not a big determent at all!

Like I said, I really can't wait for the story between Tobias, Bruno, and Timothy, and I hope Remy gets a story, too! Can't wait to see where JM goes with this series.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

There's a lot to like about this series and its second book. I quite like that you are thrown straight into the story without preamble, something to be aware of if you read this without reading Frostbite first (that's totally a shout-out to read Frostbite first btw). There is a constant flow of action and the story keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. There's also a great cast of secondary characters, most of whom you will (or should) be familiar with from book one. I'm enjoying the world building going on.

I liked the underlying message that whilst fated mates are important, ultimately love is what you need to be saved. Diablo & Trace's relationship may also be that of Alpha/Omega but I quite liked that it's really Trace that holds the true power in their relationship.

There are a few small proofreading opportunities in the first edition that I have no doubt JM will edit out, but they're not too distracting and are minimal.

"Fire is more than destruction. It's light, and warmth. It's the start of a new day."

This was amazing and perfect..i loved seeing the issues and the lack of trust that turns into something completely different. Diablo was amazing...finding out what was wrong and why it was perfect...his mate was his perfect match..they didnt make sense and yet made total.sense. i love this series and cannot wait to see more to come!!..i will buy this is paperback soon to add to my collection!

The absolute absurdity of this badly-written book can be summed up with this quote: "Why did my parents’ murderer have to be so goddamn sexy?"

We met the legend of Diablo in book one, Frostbite, but you don’t need to have read THAT book for this one to make sense. It would benefit you to, though. You need to know about this pack and how it works and how they look after their own.

Years ago, Antonio, a jaguar shifter and mage, made an angry decision, and it cost him. Now unable to channel his anger into anything other than fire, he is the legend Diablo, a far more dangerous one than Frostbite would ever be. But a single glance all those years ago also cost him. It cost him the price of his soul, because a gaze into the eyes of a child made Diablo see, SEE what he has become and how he does NOT want to be. That child was Trace, a wolf shifter, and Diablo had just slaughtered his whole village. Trace and his brother Casey managed to escape. But now, their past has come back, not as the devil, but as an angel who keeps saving Trace, who Trace now knows as his mate. Can the pack accept Antonio, even if Trace will have him? Can Antonio keep his anger at bay, or will he be consumed by his own flames?

I love a bad boy turned good, I really do, and Antonio is the epitome of the bad boy turned good! I loved this one!

A far DARKER read than Frostbite, this one. Here’s why. While Frostbite KNEW what he was doing when he killed, he did it in self-defence. Diablo, however, does NOT know why he did what he did. He blacks out, coming to only when his fire has died out, and his anger gone. He doesn’t remember killing all those people, and the poor cat carries a LOT of souls on his shoulders that he has no recollection of.

But he’s trying, he really is. Not only for Trace, but for him own soul. He does not want to be like this anymore, he wants to be free of the all consuming rage, and fire that has been his life for four hundred years. Forces are working against him though, and it takes a visit from a psychic, Remy, to dig deep into Antonio’s mind, and for TRACE to visit deep into Antonio’s mind, for Antonio to finally be free.

There is a lot of other stuff happening here too. Cyrus has his baby. A friend from Cyrus’ past causes . . problems . . (for want of a better word!) for Tobias and Bruno, the pack Beta. Those two have their work cut out for them with Tim, they really do. Their 3 way book is next. We also get just what Tobias is, and what that means for the pack, for Tim and his child and any future children there might be with Tobias. Typing this up, I’m also questioning who might be paired with Remy now he’s decided to stay with the pack. Todd also gets a book. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Maybe I’m putting two and two together and getting five, but who cares!

Will there be an earth and air type mage/shifter? I dunno, don’t really mind who or what comes next, but I WILL be reading them!

Diablo is the second in this amazing shifter series. In this installment, Trace Black is faced with a fate that nobody saw coming. After watching his brother Casey find his mate and become a father, Trace is finally able to be independent. No longer feeling like he is responsible for his twin, he is looking forward to a simple life. When Antonio walks into the tattoo shop where he works, his “simple” life becomes way more complicated. Antonio has some secrets. The biggest one has the capability to destroy not only the fragile future with his new mate, but everything that his mate holds dear.

JM Wolf has created an amazing world where shifters and magic are an integral part of their lives. His characters are engaging and relatable. Wolf is willing to put those characters through crazy difficult decisions and life altering situations just to keep us on the edge of our seats. And boy can he write a sex scene. Diablo wasn’t the only one on fire during this book! This book definitely needs the reader to have read the first in the series, Frostbite. But with the fun and intrigue JM has put into this, why wouldn’t you want to? Can’t wait to see what happens to this growing pack next!

This was a very action packed, romantic ride! This is the author's best work. He keeps getting better and better. Antonio otherwise known as Diablo, had such a complicated existence. Anyone who heard his name feared him thinking he was a monster. But he is so much more. His heart is pure. Once he hears his fated mates' wolfsong and follows it, his life changes in so many ways. Trace is an independent omega who spent his life taking care of his twin after they lose their parents to the fire of Diablo's wrath. When he first meets Antonio, the spark between them is immediate. There are so many little things that I loved about this story like sexy dancing and angry passion. Diablo and Trace have so many obstacles to face before they can reach their happily ever after. Everything was told in such a smooth but adrenaline pumping action. I absolutely loved the inevitable showdown between Frostbite and Diablo who are two halves of the same coin. There are many other surprises that had me loving the story and feeling very impatient to read the next book in the series! From the moment I read the first page, I didn't put it down until I read the last page. This book hangover has me starting from the beginning again and jump back on this thrill ride!

This is the second book I have read in this series and I have to say with each story JM Is becoming a stronger story teller, shifter books in my opinion have become less about the magic of the shifter the story of the shifter and more humanized, I didn’t like it that is just me. JM has added a new dynamic and I’m happy to see it.
I felt the shifter and mpreg books needed to be taken back to the shifter and pack dynamics and talk about the history behind, the sex is hot in these books, I believe the sex should be as it is because these are animals with a deep-rooted magic that make them people too.
I loved reading about Trace’s back history his twin, the Hawk shifter was a good add, the psychic I hope he gets a story.
I thoroughly recommend this book for all pnr readers. If I hashtagged bottom babies the review would be thrown out, so I won’t. But I loved the whole story the history behind Diablo the final fight for his life, the story with Frostbite the whole lot. Looking forward to the next installment.

This series is crazy good!!!

To say I was eager to read this book is an understatement. There were just enough hints in Frostbite to suck me into Trace and Diablo's story. You could just tell that it would take you on a wild ride. I mean, how do you justify falling in love with the monster who killed your family? Even if he's your fated mate?

JM Wolf wrote their story beautifully. I loved how it followed along the lines of Frostbite with each of them dreaming of their mates and seeking them out. And I love how the pack is such an integral part of the story. I'm so glad the author retold some of the events from Frostbite from Trace and Diablo's perspective, especially the attack on Trace at the tattoo shop.

The chemistry between Trace and Diablo burned hot and as much as I wanted to see them in bed, I also liked seeing them getting to know each other. There were some really sweet moments, especially when they were trying to protect each other. I loved Trace's commitment to helping Diablo fight the monster inside him. It was almost funny watching Diablo try to push Trace away for his own good. He had no chance. Trace wasn't leaving him.

God, I really loved these guys, but they could be frustrating as heck too. Diablo needed to stop running away to protect his mate and Trace needed to step up and talk to his twin. But that wouldn't make for a good story, now would it? And this was a really good story.

The action scenes were just as intense and fun to read as in Frostbite. I can't wait to see what Mr. Wolf has in store for us next.

Diablo finds his beacon

To say that Trace and Antonio have relationship issues is an understatement of epic proportions. Things are really heating up for the Wichita pack in this second installment in the Gifted Ones series. This book takes place simultaneously with and in the aftermath of book one so it should be read first. I went in to this wondering how the author would make Diablo a good guy and damned if I didn't start feeling sorry for the sexy pyromaniac (well done Wolfie💜). The mystery of the attack on the pack deepens as more information is unearthed but there is still so much more to suss out, I can't wait. I absolutely loved seeing the rest of the pack and there are new characters whose stories I can't wait to read.

Diablo by JM Wolf is the second book in The Gifted Ones series. It tells the story of Diablo and Trace. And it is AMAZING!!!!

Trace and Antonio (Diablo) are such great characters. Their interactions are hot, and not just because of Diablo's fire. Fate is a strange thing and these two characters are a great example of that with their enemies to fated mates type of love story. I look forward to seeing how the evolve during the series, along with all the other characters.

This series is fantastic... it sucks you in and holds you captive with well told stories and characters that you fall in deep love with. There is drama, action, comedy, sweet moments, hot steamy sexytimes and the most adorable babies. Definitely a satisfying read.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Decent second book in a promising series.

This story was fast paced with lots of drama. I enjoyed both Trace and Antonio, I really felt for the latter, as he desperately fought against his curse, and be what he felt was worthy for Trace. For awhile, it seemed that it would be to no avail, it's quite an emotional story, and totally sad in places. However, it's obvious that Trace and Antonio are meant for one another, but the have a lot to overcome before they get their HEA.

I enjoyed seeing both MCs grow and develop as the book progressed, and thought that the author did a good job of incorporating characters from the first book into this one. It was nice to visit with them again. Good world building and a decent storyline, look forward to the next book. Recommended especially if you like shifter books.

I’ve been looking forward to reading this book and the author didn’t disappoint. This was an action packed yet seriously intense read that literally had me biting my finger nails.

Trace finally meets his fated mate but everything spirals downhill when he discovers the other name Antonio goes by. Can he overcome his past and save his future or will he allow his anger to destroy his chance at happiness?

Trace and Antonio’s dancing together was seductive and erotic. Their bond was captured beautifully; it shined despite the darkness shadowing them.

Cyrus was a fantastic addition in the pack and I enjoyed his interactions with his pack members.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and eagerly look forward to read Tim’s story.

Diablo is well written with tremendous character growth, I love the fact that one's inner demons can cause so much pain and destruction. JM Wolf really knows how to capture an audience with his writing, I didnt want to put the book down because I wanted to know what happened next. The flow of the book was great, it kept my attention the entire time I was reading it and it was more than I expected too. This book gives a great example of how one person can lose control and cause so much pain and tragedy. Something I've come to understand personally, JM did a magnificent job capturing that experience and using it to make a great character. My advice, read Diablo it's well worth the read and spending money on.

The Gifted Series continues in this second book written by J.M. Wolf, to call this book great would be an understatement! I thoroughly enjoyed Trace and Diablo in their story! What an adventure it was! It wasn't a cookie cutter story, it was messy and unique. Everything that is great in literature!
The characters were relatable enough that you will laugh right along with them and their witty banter! The flow was smooth and the heat, well it gets steamy! I can not rave about this book enough! It was a great read and I look forward to reading more by J.M. Wolf soon! I

There’s so much I want to say about this book but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. I was very excited to get this book into my hands and I was not disappointed. I will say that this was a great book and the perfect installment in the series to follow Frostbite. I loved the characters and fell for Antonio (Diablo) and Trace immediately. This is a good one if you like drama and angst. The story was so engaging and you could really tell just how much emotion that the author put into his story and characters. The world JM Wolf created in Frostbite continued flawlessly in Diablo and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Diablo is the second book to The Gifted Ones series,
This book is AMAZING, I couldn’t put it down. since reading Frostbite I wonder how this 2nd book was going to be and the author didn’t disappoint, Antonio (Diablo) and Trace didn’t had a good start and years of hate didn’t make the situation any
easier for them, but Love the plot and twist of the story, love how everything came together, this book made me sad, happy, mad and happy again lol I don’t want to give away anything because I want you to enjoy it, I recommend this book but read Frostbite first, duh lol

I have to say I absolutely loved this book and if I could give it 10 stars I would. There were twists and turns, ones that you wouldn’t have expected whatsoever. I loved Frostbite and Diablo was just as good and I cannot wait for Lycan to come out! I am in love with this series and if you haven’t read it yet I suggest starting with Frostbite and not stopping! I guarantee you will fall in love with this series and all of the amazing characters along with it!

Loved

This book was a highly anticipated sequel for me. I harassed the author in his Facebook group to stop teasing his followers with teasers and just release the damn book. I apologize. I’m so glad he took his time with this story because Diablos story was a difficult one. There were so many intricacies in his life relating to his own past and how that past was intertwined with Traces. I love how the author built in Diablos history and how with Traces love and belief in him and their love, he was able to conquer his demons. Anxiously awaiting book 3 🙂

A fantastic continuation!

I was looking forward to more of this universe, and the author delivered! Please note that you should definitely go back and read the first book. This book will make much more sense with that context, as it clearly expects you to know the characters well enough that it doesn’t spend much time in developing character for anyone other than the two main characters. Still, this was great! A fun read, plenty of twists and turns, and I was sucked in by the unconventional relationship. I will read the next one

A Real City

Thanks for a wonderful series . The holy city mention made look up the name of the city and bingo it’s real !!! Knowing this the gave the story grounding for me. I could imagine The physical descriptions of the openness of fields and streams around pact lands vivid. I don’t recall how much land the pact actually owned. The story had everything. The start and stumbles of new love, mystery, shifters, magic, and babies!!! Just perfect. A good read while the Nation is in lockdown. Looking forward to book three.

This is a new author to me and I will definitely be reading more from him!! This story has it all- action, humor, sexy-time, tears and finally love. The two MCs balanced each other out. Antonio (Diablo) is an alpha jaguar shifter and fire mage Antonio was ruled by the evil in him until he meets his fated mate. Trace is an Omega that balances Antonio’s fire mage, but will Trace be able to forgive Antonio for what happened to his family? This story is a real page turner and I was captivated from the beginning. I can’t wait for the next installment of this series. I highly recommend this book!

This was an action packed love story about fated mates, Antonio and Trace. The author did a phenomenal job writing this book. There was humor, action, but what shocked me the most is how often the author got me crying. Literally boohooing at parts. Honestly, I loved the relationship between Trace and Antonio. It truly will make your heart melt.

If you’re looking for a low angst, low drama, shifter, mpreg, love story, then this book is for you.

Diablo the second book in The Gifted Ones Series and I would recommend that you read Frostbite (abook 1) before starting this one. I couldn’t put this action-packed Romance down. It has a fantastic storyline that keeps you guessing and strong characters. I can’t get enough of these shifters. JM has done an outstanding job with this series and I cannot wait for more.🖤 I loved Trace and Diablo’s story and highly recommend this series!

*WARNING* contains explicit adult m/m sexual situations
I liked this one better than book one and I liked that one too! Diablo was referred to a lot in the first and he was made out to be an evil killing machine. I was so glad to hear his story. The fight of good vs. evil, Dr. Jekyll vs. Mr. Hyde and it's battleground was my favorite part of the book. This book has references of characters from book one, but can be read as a stand a lone. I'll be watching for book 3.

This book is an absolute masterpiece, my only heartbreak is i couldnt get it in paperback. The story is well thought through and you can feel the pain and struggles between the characters as they work through their relationship. I like that it while being part of the shifter mm genre it wasnt overtaken by that and it was a really intresting read that ive picked up at least 4 times over and over since i bought it. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Wow. 🙌🏼 I loved this book. I was nervous going in, thinking “How can this work?!” But, it does work. So beautifully. Another home run for JM Wolf!

*Also, one of my favorite parts…?
“There was so much that happened after, that it should’ve been written in a novel.” I definitely cracked up at that cheeky line. 😂
