So I really was not expecting to love this as much as I did but damn. This felt like a warm, bittersweet hug from one of my favorite romance series out there. It was everything I didn't even know I needed. Reading the story of Vera and Charlie, knowing what would become of them, made their beginning that much more tender. I loved every minute of it, no matter how messy. Now I am left feeling sad because, well.. you know :/ I also have to say that I really love the way this was told with multiple couples' pov tied in throughout. It was like a reunion that I can pretend I was invited to. Anyways, as you can probably tell, I am extremely soft after reading this ♡
Perhaps it's finally time to do a reread the whole Aces series while waiting for the next installment its spinoff...
It was just excepted that he would cheat. With the mention of Poet of all people saying that’s what he grew up with. Their history explained how accepting a club whores child as her own worked though.

Love love love it! My only complaint is that these books don't come closer together. A tragic love story that ends with Charlie and Vera together forever in life and death.
Vera’s story in the present is relayed through the memory of what she had shared with them. I found these chapters to have too much going on in them to feel any traction in the story.
When chapters flasbacked to the past it was much easier to connect with the characters.
The ending concluded the story of how Vera and Charlie became a couple but I was left wondering about the drama that was unfolding in the chapters told in the present tense.
Craving Vera is a short Novella in The Aces MC series, switching between the past and the present and told from other people’s perspectives.
This is the story of Vera and Slider, also known as Charlie, and their relationship. While the book also talks about things that are current in the story, the main focus is on the way that Vera and Charlie met as well as the ups and downs on their relationship. This was more of a three and a half for me rounded up to four. I really disliked Charlie for most of the story, and he never really redeemed himself. I liked Vera and the glimpse into her life before meeting Charlie and after. I would have preferred the story be told from their point of view and not the way it was supposed to be told second hand, with the current stuff kind of detracting from their story. This isn’t my favorite story
I loved Vera and Slider when they appeared throughout the series. They were the King and Queen of the Aces' MC when they were around and it was so sad what happened to them. But this novella is about how they met and fell in love with each other. Vera was a seventeen year old girl when she met Charlie a.k.a. Slider and she thought they were in love and would be together forever. But she learned early the type of man he was. Some pretty tragic things happened to Vera that turned her into the strong, no-nonsense woman she was. Their story was a good one but I felt like there should have been more, what happens when they went back to Oregon, how life was between them in the beginning and some sex scenes, I mean come on! I didn't like what was happening in the present around the club, it took away from the story that was being told. Yes Vera and Slider was important to everyone in the club but their drama and how they felt took away from the story. But overall it was a good novella and I will always miss Vera and Slider.
This is the story of Vera and Slider. It’s NOT a standalone. Vera and Slider were the king and queen of the MC back in the day. This is not that story, however. This story is how Slider and Vera got together and began their life together. Warning: more triggers than an NRA swap meet, including Some of these are pretty heavy, so you might want to think twice before you look under the spoiler alert. The course of true love never did run smooth… Meanwhile, in the present day, all the loved-up couples are recuperating from Thanksgiving at the clubhouse, This wasn’t a comfortable read, at least not the part that took place in the past. But it was very good. And the present-day plot line was just plain fun

I have to be honest. I didn't really like this book. It was nothing like I expected. I figured it would be Charlie/Slider and Vera's story but there wasn't much of that and what there was, was being told by someone else. Most of the time you couldn't even tell who was talking. There are so many young people now but it doesn't say who's kids are who's and there were so many questions left unanswered. How old was Amy and Poet in this book? What happened to Grandma Rose. How and when did Charlie and Vera die? What kind of illness did Poet have? How many of the Aces were there left in the MC. I do know that Dragon was now the President but that's it. Was Poet still the VP? I would have loved to have had a run down of all the couples and their kids and who of those kids were now together. I know that Cam and Trix were together. And what's going on with Cecelia? Did she go off to college? Where did she go and why? I honestly cannot recommend this book. You'd be better off stopping at Book#4 Poet and Amy's story. Oh and what happened to Nix? Where was he?
Slider/Charlie and Vera had a rough start to there relationship. She thought their hooking up was love while he was just fooling around. When she walks in on him with who she thought was his sister her heart is broken. She never gets to tell him her secret and when he finds out its to late to do anything. Vera's dad is the pastor but he doesn't practice what he preaches. If things aren't the way he expects he knocks them around. When Charlie finds him beating Vera he steps in and gives her dad a piece of what he was dishing out. I did like getting a little glimpse of each of the couples from the other books, but very intrigued what is going on with Cecelia. A short fast read of how they met and got to where they were after all they had been through.
of course another great story of vera and charlie they went thru so much vera especially her father was a piece of work and a pastor at that...she had a summer fling with charlie and got pregnant her gran took her for an abortion he was a butcher her father beat her up and charlie took her to oregon they were so in love with each other..her gran got really sick they went back her mother wanted her to go home (father died) and they had phony marriage license so her mom could not force her to stay.....this book was a novella which are always too short reading but will continue now with the childrens stories can't wait.....
I'm a little on the wall with this one, which has not been the case at all with any other book I've read by this author. While I loved learning more about Vera and Charlie's early days, I was left feeling like the story ended too abruptly. I really loved the chapters with the rest of the crew, although it's been so long since I read some of their books that I had a hard time remembering some of them (I started the Aces MC series back in 2014). I may have to go back and reread the series one of these days, especially Vera and Charlie's story.
I was looking forward to this story because I thought it was going to be about Charlie/Slider and Here's story. It left a lot out. N I thing about the other women or Farah's mom. It aS written in the someone telling it point of view. I was expecting it to be to!d ?like the other Aces books was. Also, it didn't even say how they died or what medical condition Post aS suffering from. I'm very disappointed in this book. You can skip this book and reAlly won't be missing much. Sure hope the next generation books are better than this one.
If I could give this novella more than 5 stars, I would gladly do so. What a heart warming reunion with characters that feel like the family I always wanted to have. I know all of them so well and the way this story was written is absolutely brilliant. Looking forward for more to come about the Aces and the strong women who love them. Thank you Nicole for sharing this world with us.
I 'm glad we got the glimpse into the sad beginning of Vera and Slider. They have been a major part of the entire series. It was a sad but moving recap of how they got together back in the day. It was also good to catch up with all of the families and made me feel old when I realized that the characters from the first book, Craving Constellations, are now grandparents. What a great series, one that I re-read when I'm in a slump.
I thought it was an awesome read, loved catching up with past people and hearing Vera's story, would have liked to read/hear more about their relationship, especially why she stayed after everything, but still a good read especially if you like this series
If I could live in the Aces world I would. The men love thier women and the women are all so bloody strong. Apparently they all learned it from Vera and Charlie. I'm going to need to reread this series someday.
I enjoyed this novella. It's great to know the beginning of Slider and Vera's story, we all know the ending 😢. I'm also hoping this novella was giving us the start of stories for Rose and Ceecee. It's always nice spending time with the Aces. ☺
This book could have been so much more. I feel it lacked substance, there was really no story line at all. It just jumped all over the place. I’m a Nicole fan but this book fell far from the mark. Terribly disappointed ☹️
I’m glad you brought back the characters from the first series and gave them some depth and their own story would have liked it longer ....although it’s mentioned Charlie was a womanizer I would have liked more Vera mindset.
It lost a star because the story kept flipping between Vera's story and the present. There really was no need and it detracted from her story. I don't think it should have been told from someone else's point of view as it would have made a fuller story.
I’m so happy we got this story! I always wondered how Slider and Vera hooked up. I can not wait for the next installment to this series. I’m hoping for Rose 🌹!
I loved when I was in Vera and Slider's story, then it would jump to present and it would totally throw me out of the story. This was so disruptive, I can't even finish it right now.
