Well, yeah, this was such a good thriller! So dark and so twisted!
Being a huge fan of thriller and mystery books I had to pick this one up and read it and I wasn't disappointed. I think the plot is very good, the action is fabulous, even the characters blend perfectly in the action.
All the right pieces in the right places!
Be careful though! The book is also huge in controlling alpha males and abused women in relationships. Even though the book is more focused on the escape of the woman and the child.

3.5 Stars for J.M. Winchester's first thriller, All the Lovely Pieces

Drew is on the run from her psychotic, abusive husband, Adam. The world thinks she is a murderer and a kidnapper but there is nothing she wouldn't do to keep her son, Michael, safe and away from Adam. Having suffered mental, physical and psychological abuse Drew is desperately trying to keep one step ahead of Adam while building some semblance of a normal life for herself and Michael. But she knows the only way she can ever truly be safe, is by exposing Adam.

I had high hopes for this thriller. A mother on the run, doing whatever it takes to protect her child. A sadistic and ruthless husband who deftly hides his darkness from the world. I love a sexy and terrifying antagonist. Unfortunately, I felt that the character development here wasn't complete. Adam had so much potential - I would have enjoyed seeing more from his point of view and seeing what made him tick. It felt like we only scratched the surface of his story.

Although the story was told from multiple POVs, the strongest was definitely Drew's. I wish I had come to like her more but I was never fully invested. Michael's chapters were short and thoroughly chilling and creepy. I enjoyed the insinuation of a bad seed via genetics despite Drew's efforts to keep the truth from him. Overall, the story was twisty but unfortunately felt a bit rushed, surface level and predictable where it mattered.

Thank you J.M. Winchester, Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an arc of this book.

If you try to drown your sorrows......they eventually learn how to swim.

Drew is on the run. Period.

She and her nine year old son, Michael, have lived in the dark shadows since almost the day of his birth. But this time they've come upon a small town in Missouri with a highly ironic name. Liberty. Drew hasn't felt one iota of release since they left Seattle on that fateful day.

Adam was suppose to be a haven of strength for Drew when she first met him through her father. He recognized her art talent that day when she brought in her portfolio. Her prints were to be displayed at the Herman Gallery. Adam had a very persuasive personality as the CEO of C2 Technologies. Before Drew knew it, she and Adam were married and Drew was expecting their first child.

But what Drew wasn't expecting was the drastic change in Adam. Possessive to the point of cruel, Adam hardly allowed Drew out of his sight after Michael was born. As readers, we will take a front seat witnessing Adam's over-the-top behavior. In a sheer moment of good fortune, Drew and Michael escape from the gated house. But Drew will leave behind drifting and uncertain memories of what occured in the last moments in that nursery......and the blood that stained the carpet.

J.M. Winchester sweeps Drew and her son from one harrowing situation to the next. She and Michael have lived in dives and changed their identities. They've managed to stay ahead of their past. But it's here in Liberty that Drew begins to let her guard down inch by inch inviting phantoms from the past. Phantoms that don't have Drew's best interest in mind.

All the Lovely Pieces is relayed through the voices of Drew, Michael, and Catherine (Who will be revealed as you set foot in this one). Winchester does a fine job of carving out the intensity and the fear residing in the character of Drew. Because her strings are so taut, Drew will have a tendency to be sharp-edged at times and almost off-putting. But we'll give our girl a break as the twists and the turns of the story start to surface. Sleeping with a box cutter under your pillow makes for some pretty sliced up nightmares come morning.

I received a copy of All the Lovely Pieces through NetGalley for an honest review. My thanks to J.M. Winchester and to Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity.

All the Lovely Pieces is the debut psychological thriller written under the name J.M. Winchester. I’ve known J.M.’s work as Jennifer Snow for some time. She writes sweet contemporary romance. I have to admit I wasn’t prepared for this. I knew it would be different from what I’d grown used to but Wow! This is one of those mess with your mind, keep you up at night books. I finished it at about 11:30 last night and could not go to sleep afterwards. I think I need to read something all warm and fuzzy now.

scared woman in darkened room

Drew Baker and her ten year old son have been living life on the run for ten years. They never stay in one place long and Drew is always on guard, always looking over her shoulder. She never allows herself to get acquainted with other people, always keeping themselves separate. Now Drew has come to Liberty, Missouri. There is someone here that might have some answers, someone to help her find that information that could save them. Because she’s tired of running. Her son wants a normal life, friends, holidays. Things most children take for granted.

bag of money

To say Drew had been in an abusive marriage would be an understatement. Because it was so much worse than that. She had gotten to the point where she wasn’t sure what to believe, the things her husband told her, or her own mind. But, she got out. Only now, parts of her memory are confused with what happened that last night. She can’t put it all together.

pregnant woman silhouette

In Liberty, she finds herself becoming friendly with one of the women there. It would be her very first real friend. And there is a man who has expressed interest in her. But she’s damaged. And she can’t risk a personal relationship. She knows she can’t stay. That it’s only a matter of time until she and Michael have to run again. As soon as she gets the information she needs.

nervous gif

This book completely messed with my mind. I had no idea what the heck to think most of the time. I know I gasped out loud more than once. And there was no way I was going to be able to put the book down last night without finishing it. If you think you’ve seen evil, you’re mistaken. Because you haven’t. Until you meet Drew’s husband. He is the true definition of the word.

broody man in a suit

This is fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page until the last. Drew is the true definition of a protective mother. Because she will do whatever she has to do to protect her child. I can’t wait to see what J.M. Winchester comes up with next.

This is a dark and twisted psychological thriller about a woman, Drew Baker and her son on the run from an abusive, controlling husband. And what a monster he is. Adam Crenshaw, rich and powerful, the CEO of a tech company he worked his charm on Drew until she fell in love with him and married him. But after the wedding he started controlling her movements, what she wore, who she saw and when she became pregnant made her give up her fledgling career as an artist. After the baby arrived, he hired a nanny and kept her away from the child until finally one night she escaped with her son, but left a trail of blood behind in the nursery and is scared she will be arrested if found. ince then she's changed her name and had to keep one step ahead of him, moving from one town to another whenever she thinks they've been found. She knows it's Michael Adam wants to get back and she'll do whatever she can to keep him hidden.

Now Drew and nine year old Michael have arrived in a small town of Liberty, Missouri where for the first time they feel welcome in a community and make friends. Michael is sick of constantly changing schools and begs to stay in the first one he's ever enjoyed, but Drew knows they may have to run again when Adam hunts them down. But she has an ace up her sleeve and has a reason for picking this town that she hopes will help her escape Adam forever.

There seem to be a lot of thrillers being published at the moment centred around women in abusive relationships with controlling men but this one is more focused on the woman and child who escaped rather than the relationship itself. The plot unfolds in three voices, those of Drew and Michael as well as a damaged woman called Catherine who is currently under Adam's spell. A dark and twisty tale, the author keeps the tension ramped up high, right up to the dramatic ending. 4.5★

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher Thomas and Mercer for an advance copy to read.

“All the lovely pieces fall to the floor . . .”

The first thriller for J.M. Winchester. It’s hard to believe her usual genre is romance. It really was time to let out that dark and twisted alter ego. Fabulous job...can’t wait to read more!

Winchester takes her time, as she slowly reveals each main character’s connection in this crazy and intricate storyline. The mysterious Catherine was an elusive puzzle piece that she dangled for quite some time, before finally revealing her spot.

Drew and her son are hiding from her abusive husband, Adam. Not just your “typical” abusive husband. This creep is vile, depraved and he’s a very powerful, successful billionaire. He’s not someone who is easy to leave behind and erase from your life.

They have been on the run since Michael was a baby. They never stay in the same town very long, they don’t form friendships and they don’t talk about their past. But Drew picked Liberty, Missouri for a reason. She’s tired of running, and she believes someone here can help her.

“I’m not judging. I’m jealous. No one’s skeletons are as fucked up as mine.”

J.M. Winchester wrote this thriller like a pro and I’m ready for her next book!

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer and J.M. Winchester, for this ARC, in exchange for my honest review!

Drew Baker and her son, Michael, have been running for nine very long years ..always looking over her shoulder for the abusive man she knows will find her and kill her.

She married a billionaire and he promised to love and honor. Nothing was said about being locked in a room while entertaining the 'nanny' in their bedroom or having to deal with non-stop mental, physical, sexual abuse.

When one beating was enough to land her in a hospital, no one believed that her well-known husband had done this to her. At the first opportunity, she grabbed her son and ran.

All she remembers of the night she ran was a man shot dead and a woman with her throat cut. What really happened that night?

This is an excellent psychological thriller, well written. Drew's desperation and terrifying need to save her child is palpable. Her husband is one of the most heinous characters I've ever seen.

The story is told from several perspectives ... Drew herself, past and present ... her son, Michael, 10 years old and perplexed by life with his mother ... and a woman named Catherine who plays a pivotal part of the plot.

Many thanks to the author / Thomas & Mercer / Netgalley for the digital copy of this chilling psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

The blurb for this book states that ‘J.M.Winchester is the alter ego of an author who usually writes ‘happy ever after’s but her fascination with the workings of an evil mind compelled her to write this book’
Her fascination paid off 😵 as she has indeed created quite a scary, evil psychological thriller
Based around domestic abuse, parts of the book do have fairly vivid and disturbing descriptions of this, with an added throw in of ‘Oedipus complex’ and ‘Nanny fixation’ it makes for a very dark read....
Drew is on the run, and has been for 9 years, with her son Michael, she ia running from her evil husband Adam, billionaire, psychopath and violent bully, she never settles, she can never feel free, she can never let her guard down
Until she does....in a small town called Liberty, that she has chosen for a reason, a reason that could just help to put an end to her hell on earth existence once and for all
Drew needs to be careful who she trusts though and where she looks for this help, seeking help can equate to danger....
An unexpected and unsettling ending(s) finish this taught, claustrophobic tale that deals with hard hitting issues
Character wise, Adam the husband is atrocious, vile and plain evil, Drew is understandably anxiety and angst ridden and Michael, well Michael has 2 sides
Well written with the fear palpable and little wasted words it makes for a grimly enjoyable story with sides very quickly taken and kept to throughout the whole book
The author will I think carry on with further forays into this genre!

Holy Hades! This was one heck of a mind trip! I’m not sure there is any coming back from this crazy, insane, twisted journey this author just took me on.

description

How do you even begin to review a book that has literally held you on the edge of your seat for HOURS, all while feeling like you’ve been shaken repeatedly, given a slight reprieve, only to be yanked up and tossed again?

description

From the very first page, every word draws a clear and precise picture of uncertainty, fear, and terror as we follow the story of a woman running from her abusive husband. Using one brush stroke at a time, this author paints a picture so horrendous it’s inconceivable. And yet, the story is never unbelievable. It is in fact, very believable, which only adds another layer of horror to an already intensely suspenseful book.

description

I was never sure how much of what the heroine was experiencing was truth, normal fear anyone might feel, a wild imagination, or paranoia born of insanity. Whichever way, there is never a doubt that she believes she has reason to fear and the suspense only builds higher and higher due to being inside her every thought. Her mind at times emotionally exhausted me due to her concerns but more often than not, frightened me because of what might really be in the dark.

”I feel for the blade under my pillow, hoping it someday won’t be used as a weapon against me. Having it there terrifies me. Being without it isn’t an option.”

There are so many frightening moments inside this heroines mind, but to be honest after the 3% mark, I was so consumed by this story that I was unable to pull myself out long enough to highlight the truly horrific thoughts. I’m telling you, this book is going to suck you in and everything around you will come to a screeching halt.

Be sure you go into this one blind. Stay away from reviews that are going to give details of the story you’re about to dive into. You should also be prepared for an all-nighter if you start this one later in the day and above all, have a support system ready for when you’ve completed it. You’re going to need it.

All the Lovely Pieces had enormous potential. The story was fairly dark and mildly twisty, but unfortunately, didn't really push any boundaries. It's as though the author, J.M. Winchester wanted this to be super violent and gritty--perhaps she was inspired by authors such as Karin Slaughter or Jennifer Hillier...but seemed unable to force herself into that head space. Details, important ones, were glossed over and left open to interpretation, and there were big gaps in the timeline which really affected the story's flow. As I was reading, I kept thinking to myself, "No, don't go in that direction...this other direction would make it so much more provocative!"

With the exception of Drew, the characters weren't fleshed out at all, which ultimately dimmed the story's shine more. Told from three points of view, those of Drew, Catherine, and Michael, Winchester should have gone so much deeper during Michael's chapters. This is, after all, a child whose entire life had been spent running, and who had no idea why. Further, he's the child of a psychopath...is psychopathy an inherited trait? His contributions could have been fascinating, but instead, were generic and dull. Catherine, too, seemed very cardboard cut-out. Additionally, this novel could have benefited a great deal just by including Adam's, our antagonist, perspective. And Dr. Collins, Drew's therapist, played an odd--and not terribly plausible--part in the story. Finally, I was so disappointed in Drew and Parker's romance. A battered woman, hiding and on the run for the better part of a decade, found love again...it could have been such a compelling side story, but instead, was once again painted over with broad strokes, which, unfortunately, made it seem more like insta-love.

My final thoughts:
This truly had the potential to be a dark, creepy, engrossing read. It just needed more detail and grit. Still worth reading, I believe.

**Thanks, as always, to the publisher for my free digital copy of this novel.

My main issues with this book were all character related. Honestly, I didn't feel any connection to any of them...even Drew, the wife and mother who is on the run from her psychopath and abusive husband Adam for many years, failed to incite any sympathy. Also, I kept wondering why did Adam specifically pick Drew for his twisted 'experiment' which all began by him chauffeuring her from the airport as part of their first meeting (considering he is the billionaire tycoon for whom Drew's father works)?

It's terrifying that people like Adam exist...terrifying!

Great book! Drew and her son Micheal have been running since Michael was born. For 9 years Drew has been running from her husband Adam. Adam is a very powerful abusive man. Drew must keep moving to stay alive and safe with Michael. Then they move into a small town and everything changes.

All The Lovely Pieces by J.M. Winchester is a suspenseful, thrilling novel. For nine years, Drew has been running away from her cruel husband Adam. She finally settles down with her son Michael in a small town, hoping that Adam won't find them there by finding proof of who her husband truly is. While she is running from her husband, she is also running from the police. She knows that she committed a crime on the night she ran away but she only has vague memories of what really happened. When her worst nightmare comes to life, Drew must do everything and anything she can to save her son.

All The Lovely Pieces was fast-paced, thrilling and full of heart racing moments. While there were certain aspects of the plot that reminded me of other thrillers that I have read, I thought that Winchester differentiated her story with an interesting take on the Oedipus complex. I enjoyed that Winchester moved so seamlessly between different character perspectives and the ending was unexpected and shocking. Drew had moments in which she seemed a bit extreme, but at the same time, it was clear that she was willing to do anything to protect her child.

Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Decent Read

"There are pictures of kids on milk cartons. Mom says it’s because they’re missing . . . I wonder if they’re eating cereal somewhere, staring at their own faces."

I enjoyed this novel, but not quite as much as I thought I would. A ruthless mother on the run to keep her son safe and hidden; A twisted and sadistic manipulator of a husband/father; A son who shares those evil genes. It was the perfect mashup, blocks for a great thriller. But it wasn't. More could--should have been told from the son's perspective. I wanted to truly teeter on whether or not he was like his father. I wanted more from his father, A total sicko. Dr. Collins should have been more fleshed out--a lot of opportunity for crazy therapist in crisis there. I would have liked less drama from Drew. In a suspenseful thriller, only emotion that forwards the twists and turns is needed. Instead the story was bogged down a bit her and her repetitive monologue.

A decent read, all in all.

2.5 or 3 stars. Undecided, may change in the future. | Blog | Twitter | Instagram | Review can be found here at Booked J.

As always, a copy of this book was provided by the publisher or author in exchange for my honest review. This does not effect my opinion in any way.

As always, as with most thrillers, please check into any trigger warnings before reading. This does include some heavy and dark matters that will be triggering for some readers.

This wasn't necessarily a bad book, but it wasn't my cup of tea in the end. In the beginning, All the Lovely Pieces has all the makings of an unforgettable thriller. It's packed tightly with so many intense qualities and is fast to mess with your mind. However, I felt that there were times where the story lost its own steam and stumbled bit by bit.

At its core, All the Lovely Pieces is about escaping the past and what memories lurk beneath the surface. Nothing is fully certain and the unreliable qualities is what made the novel intriguing in novel's good. You can feel the fear bubbling beneath the surface in the narration and it sets the tone well enough. Winchester has this great prose that toys with readers and is very psychological, which will surely make this a hit.

This novel is a thriller, indeed, but it is also about life and wishing for a sense of normalcy. I really liked the grittiness we get to see throughout the novel. Winchester provides us with characters that are complex and some eternally evil. In all its faults, the characters are ultimately what saves the day and kept me from DNF the story as a whole.

I think that most of my issues with it tied into my mood, I may be burning myself out on the genre, and the narration. Like many thrillers, All the Lovely Pieces takes readers into the minds of several characters.

Typically, I enjoy novels that are told in rotating POV. I love seeing how each character processes things and what each character represents to the central mysteries. In the case of All the Lovely Pieces I found myself struggling with it at times. By the end, it seemed to be more and more relevant to the plot, as different revelations come to light and I eventually adjusted to it.

However, a good chunk of this novel the narration irked me.

While I enjoyed parts of this novel, it was, unfortunately, not wholly for me. I still recommend it to fans of the genre looking for a twisty ride to curve into.

THIS WAS SO INCREDIBLE!!!

This book had me hooked from the very first chapter! It did such an amazing job of keeping the reader interested and curious. I also absolute loved the storyline of this thriller! I really loved seeing the story told in the perspectives of both Drew, Michael, and Catherine, it was really interesting! I also really loved getting chapters that went back to the past to see how the story unfolded.

Now this story was definitely heartbreaking. It was so sad to read about what had happened to Drew, as well as Catherine and Isabella. I also found Catherine’s chapters really interesting to read. I liked seeing her journey through finding the truth about Adam and how she fit into it all.

Overall, All the Lovely Pieces was a definite 5 star read for me! I did like the ending as well, and Michael’s last line his his last chapter honestly had me shook! I really need to know how he end up when he’s grown up!!!!

All the Lovely Pieces started with a bang, diving right into Drew's complicated world as she settles in a new town and enrols her son, Michael, into an elementary school. She and Micheal, unbeknownst to him, have been on the run from his multi-billionaire father since he was an infant. They never really stay in a place for too long in fear they'll get caught- either by her ex-husband or the police for crimes she committed- until now. Michael is a growing boy and he craves stability and long-term friends. What can go wrong, right?

I was instantly hooked after reading the first page and eager for more until the intensity suddenly faded. The characters became unlikeable. Michael's character- or lack thereof- was the worst for this as he became a bratty shell to propel the story, not a well-rounded, convincing person. Even the way he "spoke" was flat and carried little meaning. Same with Catherine, actually- it seems the only character that was semi-real was Drew, which is why I wish that Drew had been the only narrator. Each time it went to Catherine's POV or- even worse- Michael's, I wanted to skip the chapter. Not to say that Drew is perfect, because she isn't. Tell me: if you're on the run, why wouldn't you change your own name? Why stay with "Drew"?

The romance was underdeveloped and rushed. You need to suspend your belief a bit to tolerate the Adam (aka my least favourite) portion of the book, and some scenarios- especially nearing the end- were so ridiculously unbelievable.

Overall, it's a quick read with a gorgeous cover that'll keep you interested. While it wasn't my absolute favourite, it definitely wasn't bad by any means and I can see where the 4- and 5- star reviews are coming from! It's definitely engaging.

Huge thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for providing me with a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review!

A Killer Twisty Audiobook #AlltheLovelyPieces by #JMWinchester narrated by Sarah Mollo-Christensen, Carly Robins, and Michael Crouch 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Gripping! I listened in one day and could not put it down.

The audiobook was an exceptional and superb introduction into the darker side of Gaslighting. For fans of “What Lies Beneath,” “You,” Ruth Ware’s “The Turn of the Key,” and Rachel Caine’s “Still House Lake Series.”

J.M. Winchester is the dark alter ego of an author who usually writes Happily Ever Afters. Her fascination with the workings of an evil mind compelled her to start writing psychological thrillers and All The Lovely Pieces is her debut novel in this genre. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Highly recommend! Spine-chilling. 😜 Who will win: Adam, The Nanny, or Drew?

Isn't curling up with a brilliant thriller the perfect way to spend your weekend? I'm a sucker for dark and twisted thrillers, and All the Lovely Pieces was right up my alley. Twisty and gripping, I finished this book in about 5 hour - a very rare event because apart from reading I also love sleeping! This book didn't let me and that just goes to say how brilliant this one is.

Drew Baker and her son Michael have been on the run for 9 long years after escaping from her brutal cruel husband Adam. Focused on protecting her ten-year-old son, Drew reluctantly settles into a small town, eager to find proof of her husband’s true nature so she can stop looking over her shoulder.
But Drew is also on the run from her own terrible crimes—ones that mean prison and separation from her son should the police catch up to her before her husband does. If only she could remember that night and what really transpired…
Without warning, the unthinkable happens, and Drew is plunged into the most nightmarish situation a woman and mother could imagine. Desperate to save her child, Drew takes matters into her own hands, proving that anyone is capable of darkness, and nowhere is safe for those who fear themselves.

Some stories stay with you forever and this is one of those. I can't say much without giving the plot away, but its one helluva brilliant book you'll find very difficult to put down. The story is told from 3 POV's - Drew, Michael, and Catherine. The book is paced well as the mystery unfolds itself. As each twist unveiled, I found myself more and more drawn to the characters of Drew and Michael. The plot and characters both are brilliant. Drew's character is portrayed very very well. If this book is J.M. Winchester's debut in the psychological thrillers genre, I cant wait to see what the next one is like!

Thank You, NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer & J.M. Winchester for an arc!

P.S.: I only have one question - What happened to Shadow?

*thank you to Netgalley, J.M. Winchester and Thomas & Mercer for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

2 stars.

This wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. I felt there was far too much focus on 'romance' (if that's what it's classed as.) So I took a star off for that reason. I also didn't like how some chapters seemed to jump ahead by so much time. It kinda made it feel like chunks were missing. I also didn't like the characters that much. What I did like though was having Michael, the son, have a voice and be one of the narrators in this story. I also did like the story overall for the most part. While I wouldn't recommend this, I do understand that others have really enjoyed this so for that reason I'd recommend listening to your own voice and give it a go if it sounds like something you would enjoy, but from me, this was a miss.

It was an okay read. There were a couple things that I found unrealistic. I don't care how rich you are, when you tell several hospital personal that your being physically hurt at home by a domestic partner, they listen. I know it's just a book, but real women are reading this and might believe they can't get help.

Another problem was I didn't believe the love between Drew and Parker. There wasn't a moment where I felt anything for them as a couple. And when he threatened to call the police on her instead of listening to her, I was done with him.

Lastly, she was acquitted of the murders but sentenced to 3 yrs for using forged papers. Hogwash. No jury would do that once they already ruled her not guilty of murdering the man she was running for her life from.

I loved this thriller and was hooked from the beginning. The author did a great job setting everything up, showing the fear the main character Drew was feeling. Not only did Drew fear her husband but she also did something the night she fled but has no memory of what she did. While running & trying to protect her son she was also trying to remember what she did. This book kept me on the edge of my seat.

Great book! I really enjoyed it. I really love domestic suspense and that’s what this book reminded me of. The story takes place with Drew Baker on the run from her husband along with her son Michael ..there was something for everyone. Suspense, intrigue, twists and so much more. I really enjoyed the pace of this story and it did not disappoint. The character development was very good. I look forward to reading more from this author. Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book for. My honest opinion. 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Netgalley

3.5 🌟🌟🌟⭐

Many abused women don't leave for themselves but run for their children. I learned about a new mental disorder reading this book. The rating would've been better but I feel there were several threads that never got tied up. As well as some things I had questions about that weren't addressed.
Overall I enjoyed reading this and have already told a few people about it and recommended it to others.

This audiobook was fantastic!! A thriller at its finest!! I am not familiar with this author, but if they have written more books, I definitely want to read them! This story kept me at the edge of my seat figuratively biting my nails! The suspense was taut, and the story and the characters were captivating! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book!! It's severely disturbing how people can treat others. Especially people you claim to love, and then you turn evil against them. I know not all men are as bad as the one in this story, but even still, I'm glad I'm gay because I'm far more trusting of women, lol! Although I know there are a lot of women who can be evil and twisted as well. I couldn't imagine ever causing harm to someone else. This book had a lot of messed up things in it, and it just made for one heck of an entertaining story!! Highly recommend!
