VIRGINIA
I had big plans for my life once, but nothing was turning out like I thought it would. One day I looked in the mirror and the strong, creative, feisty girl of my childhood wasn’t smiling back at me anymore. In my perfect world… I would be selling gourmet donuts, making art, be married to my high school sweetheart, and live in my dream house….

My aunt must’ve known something that I didn’t, because when she left me her cottage on Sweetwater Island, a tiny spark lit inside me. But the old Victorian house has been sitting vacant for so long, the idea of living there is a pipe dream. What would it take to restore the summer cottage of my childhood to its former glory?

My sister thinks it's crazy, but... Could this be a second chance at the life I always dreamed of?

TRISTAN
From the moment she peeked her head around the corner of that weather-worn Victorian cottage, I knew there was something special about her. Then I realized that she was going to be one of those clients that thought being involved in the renovation project was helpful…when really, she was just going to get in the way.

But why did she have to end up being so beautiful, and so…likeable? No, this is a job. Besides, love isn’t in the cards for me anymore. People with dark secrets like mine don’t deserve a chance at true happiness.

Yet every time she comes around I can’t help but wonder… What if I'm still salvageable like this old seaside cottage?

it is really hard to live a life in a modern, broken world, follow your faith, your career and romance dreams - and to put those things together sometimes after earlier efforts may not have gone quite as dreamed.

this is an amazing collection of real people living daily lives and struggles with siblings and parents, job and addictions, balancing lives and loves.

Stories that do not just quote spirtual-ish pablum - instead, that encourage mindful, considerate relations - and connect them to faith and faith in action -- and somehow not be preachy.

a great and lively bunch of reads - ones that make it seem like there might be a chance for real people to have real relationships - even in a broken world - even if those relationships change to become important friendships, and not the roles you might have dreamed .

this is a good series for dreaming and believing - and seeing others determined to survive and try to thrive, despite their fictional life challenges.

Sweetwater Island Ferry Trilogy:
For Love ... and Donuts #1 - I read the second book first and I enjoyed this one more. The well thought out storylines just felt similar to slipping on a pair of comfy, cozy slippers and sharing a cup of tea. I liked the characters; they were so realistic and human, and worked so well together: Virginia , Tristan and Sam were perfect. Of course, the story needed Jason for to all end well. I found the cottage and the island to be important characters in their own right. This fast flowing, easy to read story was entertaining and enjoyable. I loved that the author gave enough details without doing the daily, boring grind some authors do; writing about every unimportant detail instead of letting time past and writing about the important parts. An enjoyable, clean, happy read. I contacted the author to review her books and received this through Booksprout. 4*

To Love ... and Renovate #2 - This story takes place six months after Donuts ends. I didn't get to read the first book of this series, which I think would have made this book more meaningful to me. Well written and easy to read with likable characters and a plot full of happenings. Of course, there's wedding details still to be completed, working at their jobs and trying to wait for the wedding night, why wouldn't there be drama? But there was fun and laughter, too. A good balance throughout the book. I liked Virginia's calm approach to the wedding preparations. Oh, don't forget the elephant in the pink tutu - the renovations. I appreciate this being a clean story, which only needed minor editing. I found this book on Booksprout.co. 4* Update: I reread this after reading Donuts and I liked the story better. I recommend these three in order written since they are about Virginia, Tristan and Sam.

With Love ... and Reality TV #3 - This story takes place four months after Renovate ends. I don't really care too much for Hollywood and TV, but this was a local station with a surprise character and a surprise deal. An entertaining, sweet read with plenty of romance and problems for everybody. The storylines were interesting; the characters multi-faceted and there's plenty of emotions running the gamut. I just wish Ms. Mayes would edit her books, the errors do distract from the story. 4*
Sweetwater Island Ferry Trilogy end.

Unexpected Events - This is a quickly read, sweet romance between old friends. The characters are believable without any stupid dialog or actions. The storyline is interesting. A nice story for relaxing with a cuppa. I contacted the author to review her books and received this through Booksprout. 4*

So enjoyable to watch as lives change!

This series is inspiring! It begins with Virginia living a life she deems "Good enough", but when she realizes that isn't really what she had hoped it to be and she takes steps to expand, a wonderful story really begins. She ends a relationship that always requires she put her hopes and dreams on hold while she does everything she can to keep her boyfriend happy. She moves away and providentially meets a man, Tristan, who really sees her and who is excited to grow along with her. They find that one of Virginia's many talents is a perfect fit for Tristan's contracting business. Together, their ideas create something greater than either could achieve alone as they flip historical wrecks and give them new life. Their friends and family are inspired by their amazing relationship to seek their own chance to find relationships and jobs as fulfilling as that of Virginia and Tristan. Much credit is given to being honest with oneself and with others to find the right place in one's life, to achieve the fit we all seek. Don't mistake the message as a course in fulfillment though; it's a most enjoyable story filled with both likeable and less likeable, but always believable people.

For Love...and Donuts is a great, clean romance. It is a wonderful tale of how Virginia grows as she starts to listen to her heart and puts God back into her life. This story has well developed characters with stand out personalities, a Seattle island as a backdrop and a great story line. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet escape.
To Love...and Renovate is a wonderful, clean romance about family issues and other stresses as the couple continue to work and try to finish the planning 3 weeks before their wedding. The characters are well drawn and very likable but each the secrets and family issues are causing problems. Great story. Plan to read this in one sitting.

Sweet and Clean Island Romance
This sweet and clean trilogy is set on an island in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle. The series contains no faith elements. The plot follows a young woman and her sister trying to follow their dreams. They find themselves making choices and surprising themselves as they grow into their adult lives. All three books have their own messages. Each stands alone well, but I think they would be more enjoyable when read in order. I received this set for free and this is my honest opinion.

A great clean romantic trilogy with mystery, intrigue and great twists! Three great books that I can read around my grandkids without having to worry about them seeing my screen! This series has great normal characters that we can relate to and is well written. It will keep you reading until the end and wanting more. I don't know if she is going to expand this series or do trilogies on some of the other characters. I can't wait for the next book!

A book set of 3 books, it describes how Virginia and Tristan meet, fall in love, overcome some problems, marry and the start of married life.
Nothing special in a way, but heart-warming and fairly realistic with typical ups and downs of a relationship. On the side some family members and their lives are also described.
A good and interesting read, entertaining and quite funny at times. Having all 3 books together makes the story of Tristan and Virginia complete.

Heartwarming, uplifting, feel good trilogy set in Pacific Northwest near Seattle. Virginia and her sister work to make their dreams a reality. She inherits a house that's falling apart and hires a man named Tristan to help fix it up to sell.

I loved her writing, great relatable characters, and very entertaining! I just read a book that was so full of drama and and angst, this was a breath of fresh air! I look forward to reading more from her!

This is a set of three very sweet books. The plot is believable, the characters are believable and very easy to relate to. These are written in a very down to earth manner that most people can easily relate to and yet still feel as if they are getting away from any stress in their own daily life. I loved these stories and I was hooked from the beginning and like Samantha I didn't like Jason so when he forced her to renovate her aunt's cottage even though she wanted to keep it and then she met Tristan, I was so happy. To see their love blossom through these are books was awesome inspiring and I just wish I could find someone like Tristan.

A beautiful, well written trilogy.

A story about life, circumstances, choices, struggle, uncertainties, second chances, love, dreams and so much more. Whoever said that life was easy has never enjoyed the roller coaster ride called life.

The funny part is that I read the 3rd titled earlier and could not get into the story, yet when I read it as a part of this trilogy it not only made sense it also brought closure to many questions.

My heart has just been touched by a rainbow. Sophie Mays turns heartbreak into sunshine with a creativity that inspires and entertains. The Sweetwater Island Ferry Collection takes two of my favorite pastimes, romance and home improvement shows, sprinkles a handful of wisdom and an abundance of heart in order to design an unforgettable finished product. Color Me addicted, because I'm hooked.

What a fun series!

Clean, with some really loveable characters, great dialogue, and even a bit of snarkiness to keep it realistic. If you're looking for an uplifting series that makes you smile and even laugh at times, this is it. Sweet, but not sappy. I'll probably want to read this again.

And entertaining and introspective look a the to maintain characters, how they interact with family, coworkers and others as their lives weave life-path changes. The unmistakable and ever evolving message - aways seek ways to have one's communication be open and honest.

I've fallen in love!!

I've fallen in love with this series! Watching Virginia get out of a bad relationship with Jason and falling in love with Tristan as he takes the task of remodeling her inherited beach house is wonderful! We are introduced to their siblings, Adam and Sam, along with Ross. A great ending with a twist you won't see coming will keep you reading into the night!

Pleasant romances in a lovely setting.

The characters are well written as is the descriptions of the island. I had a problem with the ideas of how the women should be manipulating and changing their boyfriends. The relationships felt unrealistic and saccharine.
