Christine and Nate are soul mates. Best friends. Made for each other. There is just one problem. He is about to become a duke and she is the daughter of the village baker. How they feel about each other does not matter. Their friendship does not matter. That they want to be together does not matter. Society rules dictate that the son of the Duke of Goldingshire wed a young woman of his own station. The daughter of a baker will never be his wife. Though they think they have kept their secret from their parents, their friendship is no secret at all. In an effort to keep these two apart and ensure a proper marriage for his son, the duke develops a plan. Nate feels there is no option but to comply with his father's demands. Christine can do nothing but carry on in the family business. And long for Nate's return, of course. Will time and distance dim their love for each other? Will they have changed too much to resume their friendship when they see each other again? Follow this sweet and unlikely couple as they break through the boundaries they do not agree with.
The story line is plausible and grabs your attention. It is well written and a page turner. I started this book in the late evening and couldn't bare to not finish it before I went to bed! Well after midnight!
Imagine being in love with someone who is socially above you; say a prince. How can it end in marriage when you are a commoner? This is a situation like Prince Harry and Meghan.
Just plan to spend a quiet 2 to 3 hours living in the world of Lord and baker! Clean and catchy for all ages. Love it, even reread it!
