I got to this one as Audible was promoting a bunch of titles for free in January. I enjoyed The Temp, a British comedy of the various exploits of a temp is who isn't particularly bright. The Temp, Warren, temps as a Chauffeur, a Lab Assistant, a Prison Warden, a Data Entry guy, a Flight Attendant and then finally joins a cult.
The stories are goofy and the performances are excellent what makes the whole thing very entertaining.
This is a wonderful funny series on the experiences of a temp as he goes on different assignments. He enjoys being a lab assistant takes until it takes on a whole new meaning. Other jobs include flight attendant, chauffeur, and joining a cult. Each edition lasts about 25 minutes just perfect for a funny break and a few laughs. The storyline flows smoothly and quickly smoothly with many laughs. I received this book for free from audible and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hilarious. I listened to this as an audible audiobook and the narrators have done an amazing job. There are six episodes and each adventure is entertaining, engaging. Just briliant
Some puns were good initially.. was very tired with the repetitive nature of story telling. which i felt was very lazy.. would not recommend this audio book.
Warren, a dumb guy, has a series of temp jobs, none of which are exactly as advertised. Despite the variety of jobs, the story is repetitive and there's no real plot. Mildly funny.
The protagonist is a less endearing version of the guy from Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. I've smiled once each episode but never laughed or chuckled. It's just not funny.
There is potential for some good jokes but never explored, like Chekov's Jokes that assumedly hit a cutting room floor somewhere.
The audio is of good quality at least and the actors have done well enough with the script. Warren, the main character, has an annoying voice that may be intentional.
Some people liked this though so maybe I'm missing something. Can't really complain because it was free so yeah, you might as well give it a go.
Scratch that. I wrote the review midway through but the last few episodes are worse. I'd say stop listening by episode 4.
Proper British radio comedy romp. Each episode the main character tries a new job and it goes ridiculously wrong - reminds me a little of Milton Jones' series
