It's hard when you have to share everything with your baby brother. Tofta doesn't want to at all. So when an iceberg drifts past her window, she decides that it's her iceberg and she's not going to share it with anyone. But when five hundred playful penguins turn up, Tofta finds that sharing can be great fun, too. A brand new edition of this funny, atmospheric story about learning to share by author/illustrator of the award-winning HOW TO HIDE A LION.
Helen Stephens is the illustrator of a number of books for children. She is best known for her How to Hide a Lion series, which was adapted for the stage by the Polka Theatre. She has illustrated stories for some of her favorite authors, including Roger McGough, Michael Morpurgo, Sophie Hannah, Holly Webb, and Cecile Aubry. Helen Stephens lives on the windy coast of Northumberland, England, with her family.
I loved this book. A perfect story for children who have recently become older siblings, the MC is fed up with sharing her things with the baby and climbs out of her window onto an iceberg all her own. When she's interrupted by a penguin, she is cross to begin with but eventually they become friends, playing together until she decides she misses home. Her new friends help her back and she is very pleased to see her baby brother/sister again.
