An experiment gone wrong. A young man thrust across space. A desert planet ruled by human slavers, who trade in the most precious commodity in the galaxy: women.
22-year-old Xander Cross, a lonely physics engineer, has spent most of his life on the sidelines. But when a particle collider malfunctions, transporting him and his best friend, Rachel, to a desert planet, where she’s quickly captured by a group of slavers, it’s up to him to save the day. Yet, even with the help of four of Dardekum’s most powerful Purifiers, women who are as deadly as they are gorgeous, it’ll be almost impossible to get Rachel back from the planet’s cruelest slaver. Will he be able to save her in time?
“Slaves of Dardekum” is a red-hot harem book for men. If you like science fiction, beautiful women, and cannibalistic mutants who bleed green blood, then you’ll love reading this book. Buy “Slaves of Dardekum” now to start the fun!
Xander and Rachel are messing around in a particle accelerator when it explodes, sending them to another planet. Rachel gets captured and this is the beginning of the story.
Xander ends up meeting a couple of zealot fundamentalists that say they will help him. Of course, they are hot as hell chicks. One of them looks like she eats cocks for breakfast with extra cream, and Xander is obviously all over her. All is well and good up to this point. Now, this book is written in first person, which means that the reader knows only as much as the protagonist. And comes a part where it's obvious to everyone, reader and side characters, that Xander is going to get the pointy end, but he acts like he had no clue. That's when things started derailing.
The deal breaker was around the tournament part. So, to save Rachel, Xander has to go to a certain place in a week. The absolute slut that's with him at the time says there's only one way (TM): to convert to isla- I mean, to become a purifier. Nevermind that he could just walk there. Now, here comes the real good part: to be accepted into their stupid cult, he has to pass a trial! And it consists of senseless killings, talk about religion of peace that protects the people! So, everyone that wants to join has to go into a tournament and kill the other guy. Most people that join are the ones that are too poor to afford food, including women and seniors. It's only our protagonist's luck that pairs him with a senseless killing machine; we wouldn't want him feeling conflicted about killing some half-starved girl now, would we? For all that is reasonable, he should have died on that fight. He took quite a beating. But, of course, just when Mr Killing-Machine is about to off him, he has an epiphany: "I can't die here. I am smarter than he!", which, obviously, makes all the difference in a fist fight, making him land a lucky hit and win the fight. Of course he spares the complete sociopath, he too has a family, after all! This tournament wouldn't have been such an issue for me if not for the absolute cognitive dissonance it presents: Xander is acting like all of this is perfectly OK, and not the madness that it is. I'd accept it better if he had decided to embrace the madness as the only way to save the girl, but no, everything that is happening is perfectly rational and it's all just fine.
I stopped caring about the book at this point and started skimming. I didn't see anything worthwhile happening further on, so I dropped it.
This novel was well written but mister noble and his male fantasies don't click with me. For the reason that the MC profess to love the captured love interest but begin to fuck anything feminine around him. It broke immersion, and I don't think I will read something written by him again.
Had a friend not mentioned Slaves of Dardekum: The Lightbringer, Book 1 by Jake Noble (thanks Iori) I never would have touched it. I admit that I started reading the book holding my nose expecting a great big turkey.
With an MC named Xander Cross I was expecting Slaves of Dardekum: The Lightbringer, Book 1 to be a xXx Xander Cage rip off. I was pleasantly surprised that despite a cringe-worthy title Slaves of Dardekum: The Lightbringer, Book 1 is a good book.
I enjoy well-written urban fantasy. I like how the MC is just a regular nerdy guy. No superpowers or magic is given to the MC by his appearance on Dardekum. The MC does not suddenly become all powerful crushing his enemies, seeing them driven before him and hearing the lamentation of their women.
Obviously the first book in a planned series Slaves of Dardekum: The Lightbringer, Book 1 gives enough tidbits and hints developing a rich unique world. I didn’t have to hit the “I Believe” button too hard reading Slaves of Dardekum: The Lightbringer, Book 1. I appreciated weapons malfunctions, bikes breaking down and nothing is perfect on Dardekum.
I like how Dardekum is obviously the nasty butt hole of the universe, but Noble does a good job balancing world building and character development. Noble does a great job keeping the action flowing while giving enough background and world building.
I was surprised that sex occurs much later in the book. I was expecting a book with ‘slave’ in the title to be something akin to the Gor novels by John Norman. I was expecting the MC to be hip deep in young nubile slave women by the third page. Sex is not safe and slightly less than vanilla. I guess the people of Dardekum and the MC like fragrant partners as the lack of bathing requires a strong stomach for oral sex especially anallingus.
I like Nobles’ writing style, although he could use a slightly better editor and proofreader. Perhaps putting an ARC out or asking for dedicated readers would help the author to eliminate most of the errors in the text.
I am looking forward to the second Lightbringer novel. I hope that Nobles has not expended his good ideas producing a turkey of a second book.
I was intrigued by the first chapter and somehow kept reading. The world is... similar in tone to a warhammer novel and brutal enough to keep it entertaining. I felt like it had good pace and decent plot twists. There is a bit of plot armor, and I think that is where I felt this dropped a little. Overall, a decent read. Short but entertaining.
I’m rounding up to 4 stars I would give it 3 1/2 stars. Over all it’s a really good first novel. The good parts - the main character is believable. No suspension of belief is required; the main character stays a normal human. The set up for the future plot intrigues me. The bad parts - the sex. It’s along the lines of male adolescent wish fulfillment fantasy sex.
I had such high hopes when I started. And with each encounter, I was hoping the book would take the leap to the next level. But I was disappointed again and again. The MC is utterly incompetent. It's shocking that he doesn't die on the first encounter. And shocking that he doesn't kill everyone that tries to help him.
I really enjoyed this book, great premise, good action and a great hook at the end that leaves me excited for the second book. Think its the authors first book on amazon so hopefully he writes many more.
Intriguing premise followed by some good story telling-while at the beginning the story jumps a little to quickly as the tale goes on it comes together nicely. Looking forward to next installment to see the author continue to grow.
A poly sex partner fantasy book that isn't a harem, the hero is a bit lost, missing obvious intentions. I normally dislike prophesy books which this book has but not too much. Enjoy.
So depressing. If you like sad action books, this one is written well. However, the world is poor, the people are awful, and awful things happen repeatedly. This is not a happy book.
This is a 2nd edition novel and the author has done quite well at fixing the errors in the 1st edition. The story was unique and I enjoyed it as well, though I kept having visions of Fermi Lab. The epilogue was quite nice as well.
I like the fact that even though the mc is nerdy at first,he becomes his own man.And of course all the sexy ladies everyone of them.Cant wait for book two
