It has been my pleasure and my privilege to hear Anne Casey read live many times, and I highly recommend it in addition to reading her beautiful collection. It's a must-read for all Irish Australians - of course, it's accessible to any poetry lover of any background, but I'm sure (having heard her introduce poems) that there were some cultural references and signposts that went a little over my head. But either way, it is alternately charming and devastating, a breathtaking examination of grief, motherhood, and world events.
A few favourites: "Open Letter I: Dear Father", "If You Say So", "What Hope?", "No One Will Hear", and (of course) "Crepuscular Stirrings".
