This is a book I have be re-reading, along with a range of graphics titles, and recent dissertations from SigGraph. Ray tracing, is an exceptionally old notion; with hardware changes, to some extent real time can be done on conventional desktop and laptop GPU hardware. I have not seen a description of the RTX Core, which is accessible by the Optix API. Given that custom ASIC's are becoming more prevalent, it will be interesting to see where this will go in the future. Recommended. (and IIRC free from NVIDIA's website)
