This story revolves around a professional mercenary-assassin with a 100% success rate taking on a contract to rescue a child who had been abducted from a top secret lab. Apparently this child was created and grown in a test tube and now being used for military and scientific advancements as he has an off chart super genius level intelligence.

Finding the child on a exclusive married/family only location, Zak'hoth Alfans contacts Terramates, a mail order bride agency to obtain a temporary 'bride' for his mission as single or engaged males are not permitted to set foot on Haven.

* *

A whimsical SciFi tale that has no real basis on reality. May appeal to readers who look for a fairy tale sort of story that has a few suspense elements to spice things up without any dark themed scenes to it.

Forever Mate: A Science Fiction Alien RomanceKindle Edition
by Lisa Lace
I received an eARC from the author and am choosing to leave an honest and fair review.

Curling up under a blanket with a venti White Chocolate Mocha and a Lisa Lace book on a cold, wet Oregon winter day is a true treat! Forever Mate really falls into the category.

I enjoy the TerraMates series. And this book was no exception. However I was a tad confused. All of the other books, starting with Water World Warrior, all take place in the future. FM takes place in what appears to be modern day Portland (note to all: Native Portlanders don't know what a rain coat is!) because there are a number of modern references.

Barring that confusion, I love our villain, Zak. He reminds me a bit of the Sentella's Nyk, both being assassins with a heart. A heart he never expected to give away to his Forever Mate as he was well past the age when most of his people find the other halves for themselves. He is more interested in making enough credits to retire. He is met with a contract that would do just that and include a marriage to a high ranking female. His goal? Find and return a genetically engineered child genius. In order to do this, he needs a temporary wife. This is where our TerraMates crew comes in. They match him with Oregon preschool teacher, Holly. The female that is his other half, his Forever Mate.

I loved Holly, because I truly identified with her! I was a nanny, a preschool teacher and a kindergarten teacher in Portland and Clackamas, Oregon! That is until I decided that while I loved the children, I hated the parents! I also found my Forever Mate while I taught and remain married to him 28 years later!

This story has it all – love, passion, femme fatales, a cult seeking a 1950's existence, and child in jeopardy.

Ms. Lace's writing in this field is unmatched. She is able to draw all these threads together deftly with passion and fun. Her characters are fleshed out and almost 4th dimensional. The few love scenes are sexy without dipping into overdone. Erotic without being hilarious. The villains are great. Fight scenes are exciting.

A HEA, a love for the ages and a hero with a dark side finding his light in his destined mate.

Zak is good at what he does and what he does is kill people for money. He has made a good living at it and, at least initially, he was confident in taking out the bad guys but as the years have passed he has let the lines get blurred and has not listened to his instinct that not everything his bosses tell him is legit. When he gets hired to recover a kidnapped child the payoff is too good to pass up, the only thing is they are holed up in a placed called the Haven where only married men are able to get in. He then arranges to marry a human, intending for it to be a marriage of convenience only as he has pledged to marry the daughter of a very important man on his home world. A major spanner gets thrown in the works when Holly walks down the aisle it turns out she is his forever mate, something he had always wanted but given up hope of ever finding. What follows is a feat of brilliant writing with characters (including a way too human, snarky AI) that are well-crafted with huge personalities. The Haven is definitely not all its cracked up to be, it definitely had a kind of Stepford'y vibe to it where everything was a little too structured, a little too perfect and it hides a dark and sleazy underbelly. Can Holly convince Zak that killing isn't always the answer or will he be proved right and the people she thinks she can trust are the true bad guys and can they build a future together with his past being what it is? The story kept me engaged from start to finish and didn't want the book to end.

Zak is the government’s top assassin on his home planet. Nilma, his only friend and the artificial intelligence operating system of his G-8 starship, lands the ship for him so that he can report in with the target’s severed head in a canister as proof of termination. As he walked to headquarters, he reflects that at 35 annums old, he has still not found his forever mate and believes it is too late for him now. All his friends already have families. But his job keeps him away from his home planet for long periods, so he has little chance to look for his mate.

When Zak is given an assignment to recover a genetically engineered child prodigy who has been kidnapped to be used for evil, he needs a temporary fake wife to allow him access to complete his assignment and enter the area where Nyk has been taken. Holly and Zak are a good match for each other – especially since his fake wife, a human from Earth, turns out to be the forever mate he has longed for! Will their marriage be impossible with the dark past he can’t hide? Can she forgive the false pretenses for their matchmaking? Will Zak be able to give her up now that he’s found her?

With great characters and a really good story line, I thoroughly enjoyed this one! This author has a great writing style that is easy to read and get immersed in. You won’t want to miss this one!

What wasn't there to love about this book. It has it all. Romance, action, adventure, and aliens! As it's part of a on going series. I haven't been disappointed yet with a Lisa Lace book. The day that I am I will cry.

Zak is a well known intergalactic alien assassin of his planet. He goes in and comes back out victorious every time. He's rich and is on the look out for his forever mate. Only he hasn't found her yet. And time is running out. With this new mission about to start. All he can think about is retiring rich and a bride he in all honestly doesn't want. He thought he was setting up for his next mission and a throw away bride just to get the job done. But she turned out to be so much more than what he thought she would be him.

Holly is a teacher for kiddos and she loves them all dearly. But her main dream is finding a good husband, settling down and having a family of her own. She is hopeful with this match that all will work out.

I liked it. This has a very good plot. Assassin from Il'im with an assignment to find and return a kidnapped child prodigy. He needs a temporary fake wife. But his fake wife from earth turns out to be his forever mate. The H/h characters are great. They have spunk, are moral and have a conscience. There were so many villains after the prodigal child. They wanted to control his intelligence for nefarious reasons. All evil. There was one villain that surprised me towards the end. The child himself has never had a normal childhood. I felt sad for that. But our hero Zak and our heroine Holly helps the child Nys to recognize his true freedom to be a child. That was a real feel good moment. An overall good story. I enjoyed reading it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

TerraMates are such fun books and this book was one of my favorites. Poor Zak's life will never be the same when his attempt to use a TerraMate then dump her turns out to be his ForeverMate! Understandably, Holly is upset when she hears the part that Zak was only marrying her for the job.

There is a lot of action and a few surprises along the way that keeps this book from being predictable!

I loved that Holly won't let Zak keep doing his assassin jobs and loved their HEA and surprise from the doctor! Although, I was kind of disappointed that after rescuing Nys, they dropped him off at a group home. How do they know he will be safe from others searching for him and being in a group home does not sound like a "normal" childhood experience.

💢Fabulous I always love TerraMates it based on the same in every book then WATCH OUT. I want a Alien.

🔹️Holly Flex is a wenty-eight years old human preschool teacher, from Portland, Oregon. Being 3all alone was heart breaking after her parents died so last week she applied at TerraMates.

🔹️Zak’hoth Alfans aka: Zak is an Alien Assassin, with dark blue skin, midnight blue hair and golden eye. He was born on the Planet Il’im. On the highest paying mission of his life time but he runs into problems after problem. Now he's really screwed having to sign his life away only to find another that he's been searching for a lifetime.

Forever Mate by Lisa Lace
Zak home planet is IL'im and he is an assassin. His next mission is to save a 7-year boy and get 5 million credits plus he will get married. Right now he needs a fake bride to get into The Haven. Holly Flex is 28 and works with young children. She wants her own family and signs up with a matchmaker. Within a week Holly was walking down the aisle. Zak had found his forever mate. I loved this story, so well wrote. This book is full of twist and turns. This is one of my favorite stories. This is one story I think if you like big men and sweet woman this book is a must. I received an advanced reader copy and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.

I liked the forever mates concepts. It was what drew me to get the book. The story is about Zak, an alien assassin, who unexpectedly meets his forever mate in a human, Holly. Unfortunately their meeting is riddled with complications because he wasn't expecting to meet his forever mate while out on a mission. Things quickly escalate and before Zak knows it, he is worried sick that he may be jeopardizing Holly's safety. To top it all off he has to handle a very regretful situation back on his home planet that may or may not involve wedding planning. Holly brings a much needed balance to Zak's life and soon enough he is making concessions to make Holly happy. This was a fun and fast read with a wonderful happy ending.

This is another fantastic read in the TerraMates reads.
This one is completely deferent from the others .
This one seems to be set in our time and not in the future.
Zak is an Assassin who is hired to get Nyk back and kill the two
people who kidnap him. Zak finds out he will need to be married
to get on the station where Nyk has been taken to . He got in control
with TerraMates to find a wife so he can get his job done.
That is how Holly gets involved and ends up married to Zak.
If you like books with plenty of action and romance and characters
that seem to come alive on the pages than this is definitely one you
are going to love.

An other amazing alien romance 💛

This story had me laughing about few times with Nilma A.I who spends most of the time in Zak's G8 starship. As for Zak himself is a trained assassin and home planet Il'im . As a Imma race his culture usually mate as forever mates.
Happy home planet is Earth and works with children in a kinder garden. But want to marry an alien and Zak needs a partner for a job recovering a child and kill 2 people that have abducted the child. I really loved this story ☺ and can't wait to read some more alien romance stories 💛 thanks for writing these amazing stories Lisa xx

Another wonderfully unique alien love story from Lisa Lace. I don't know how she does it, but every time I read one of her stories I am pleasantly surprised how it never "reminds" me of another story. This is a lovely happily ever after story for two characters who really do deserve one. I love how this story felt like a full length book and not a novella that so many seem to be. You don't feel cheated in the least when reading. I recommend this book for those of you who love a good alien true love story. You won't be disappointed!

If you love a good alien s/f story, then don't miss this one, it's part of the Terramates series but can be read as a standalone.
Human teacher, Holly gets accepted by Zak as his wife but h only needs a temporary one for the mission he's on. But this assassin is shocked when he realizes she is his Forever Mate. This couple go one a wild intergalactic ride to find a kidnapped child as well as navigating their blossoming romance.

This story is packed with plenty of action and drama, really entertaining.

Wonderful romance

This is the first book I have read by Lisa Mace and I quite enjoyed it.
I've read a few alien/humam romances however none have impressed me as much as this book.
The story is very descriptive that you can just imagine what the other planets look like as well as all the characters.
Even though Zak is a hired assassin, he is kind to Holly even when he is acting as if she is just assisting him in his mission.
I look forward to reading more of her books.
Opinions are my own and unbiased in this review.
I borrowed this book through KU.

I was sent this book in exchange of a fair review.

Lisa never lets me down. Another great book.

This story is about an assassin who on his way to his next mission he finds sokething he never thought would: his forever mate. Zak is a very interesting character. He is the best in his line of work; smart, coldhearted when he needs to be. Holly is a pre school teacher all alone in the world. She wishes for her happy ending with Zak and get more than she could imagine.

Thank you lisa once again for another masterpiece!

Save a prodigy

Zack is an alien assassin who has ordered to recover a kidnapped prodigy on a perfect family planet. His AI signs him up for an earth mail order bride Holly, who just happy be his forever mate. Zack married Holly but has to tell her he is engaged to his bosses daughter on his home planet. Holly agrees to save the child and of course it's a happy enduring multivariate and turns. I would love to hear about this couple again. Hint!

Fun, sexy and fast-paced

These characters are refreshingly real. The book has a fast-paced storyline that is easy to read and holds your attention. I enjoyed reading about Zak and Holly's romance and their adventures. The story was well written while keeping an element of realism which I appreciated. The heat between Zak and Holly can definitely be felt. You will truly enjoy curling up with this book for a few hours!

If I could rate this 0 stars then I would

The writing is choppy, I got zero feelings for the H and h, too bad though if it could be reworked with more feeling then it would be a good book, the sex scenes were incredibly boring, there was no feeling there, I'm very disappointed in this book, I wanted to read it cover to cover, but I just couldn't, I started reading another book and finally bit the bullet and finished this.. don't waste your money on this book 👎

the AI was the most interesting character. My problem with the story is the main male character. He is supposed to be this uber assassin but he makes stupid choices and gets taken down by an unarmed chubby person. It was basically bubblegum up to the point and I like bubblegum but this really made it hard to finish. Even the ending was unfufilling - we all know what happens in orphanages. Never a happy ending. These two things made this a 2 star read for me.

It was a great book!
Zak needs a fake wife in order to complete his mission.
Holly had high hopes for this marriage.
Now, Zak has to make a choice.

I read this thru KU. The subject was intriguing but the follow-through was totally lacking. The author spent the entire 54% I read telling me all about this or that. I stuck it out as long as I could, hoping it would get better but it never did. The author failed to show me her tale. That made it awful and cringey to read.

This book was just OK for me

To me, the bones of this book were contemporary....take away the appearance of the aliens and space travel and this book is just like so many others. For sci-fi, I like to see more cultural differences btwn the aliens/humans and more alpha behavior from the H. There just wasnt enough of that for me in this book. Otherwise the story was OK.
