The whole series was written with a different level of emotion, thought and attention to detail! I have always been a fan of Ashley and JaQuavious and this book right here proves why Ashley is one of the best authors that EVER did it!! I HOWEVER I do not appreciate the way she has my heart beating and lungs short of oxygen, part 5 is my breathing treatment...please hurry I'm fading!
This book was good....,but I thought it would be the last😥
I so love Ethic and Alani story. After all Ethic is were it all bloomed and begin :) but at this point ,I've had enough of Ethic and Alani back and fourth! I DESPERATELY need to read All about Messiah and Mo.i know all books can't have happy endings..... but I need them to be together lol and I have no idea how the author would lead us too that . (1) I'm disappointed in Mo's actions 🤔 don't no man want a weak women .they may feel pitty after her dangerous actions. But how would he ever feel comfortable about the negatives in there relationship if he know her ability to just end it all 😣 I don't want to give the book away but jeez! I hope she don't loose her "gift" either:( I'm suprised how messiah acted when she confronted him at blu house! I mean I know he wanted to push her away but DAMN lol please I don't ask for much lol but PLEASE redeem this relationship lol I don't know how you would do it smh but i desperately need them ALL 3 to be together lol Also. I'm ready for Ari to give that man a chance jeez! I hope Ethic can accept there love ,like he want them to accept his. Please let this be the last installment. I kind of wish I would have waited to it was completely done. But I hope 5 is on the way...... like NOW
Sweet baby Jesus when will this emotional rollercoaster end? Not that I'm really ready for it to end but jeez!
What I love about this storyline is how it continues to pick up right where the last book left off. The pain, passion, love, hurt, deceit is almost always picked up on immediately. Each character has been given a mirror this go round and forced to see themselves without the blinders on. To see the world without being in tunnel vision and baby I am not mad about it! This time my heart went out to Morgan as she was the one who was forced to see the world differently. In the first 3 books she was a spoiled little brat but in this one you can see the woman, the butterfly blossoming out of her cocoon and its passionate. And I am not mad about it! Ethic is another one who has blossomed this go round and it only made me love him more! I promise I was not ready for this series. I just wanted more of Ezra Okafor and Ashley Antoinette has delivered and more!!! I will say this... This series can only get better cuz everybody has already hit the lowest they can go. I'm ready to see these butterflies fly and be free to love not only themselves but each other
Morgan Morgan Morgan 🤦🏽♀️I knew Messiah was going to hurt her but I didn’t see that kinda betrayal coming. Me, I would’ve told his ass I was pregnant after I left planned parenthood because NO SIR!!
I love how Alani and Ethic are evolving. She annoyed me a little less in this one.
Why in the hell Bella starting to have a crush on a hood nigga?. Why all these women falling for bad boys? Wheeeww I do understand though.
Well obviously I know Morgan won’t die because butterfly is about her 👀 but her ass didn’t have that to do trying to kill urself over a man. I know Raven rolling over in her grave. I need a Ethic support group atp

soooo.. where do I start? My emotions are all over the place with all these connections and such. I'm soooooooooooooooooo happy that Ethic and Alani are working toward that happily ever after, FOREVER! I'm hurt that Messiah hurt Ethic like that. . .he considered him family. I feel like he still does from the interaction with Messiah's dad. But damn Ssiah, how could you betray them like that? I really wanted to jump in this book and kick your a** myself because how could you do Morgan like that? You promised her, you broke her, you... but you were broken too. I feel so sorry for you though. I hope you can be let free. Now Morgan... my girl was turned into a hard core GANGSTA DYHM?!! Like girl I was just at your 7th birthday party now we here? sshheeeshhh okkkkuurrrr. But that ending, I'm soooooo speechless and heartbroken .. like I know all books can't have happy endings but got damn mannnnnn
I am so happy for Ethic & Alani. It’s a journey, but we’re getting there. Morgan had Messiah begging on his knees I can’t believe she had that man like that😭 and can we talk about how gangsta Morgan was in this book? I can’t believe she is like this now, I knew her when she was such an innocent child, it’s crazy. 😂 i can’t believe the secret Messiah was holding on to for so long, I was not expecting that! Dammit this series has me in a ridiculous chokehold. This one was really emotional for me too, particularly Ethic & Messiah’s last conversation. I have so much more empathy towards Messiah now, knowing what he went through.. ugh what does book 5 have in store? I am stressed
I mean I can’t get enough but I need it to be over because the chokehold this book has on me isn’t healthy 😂 It ended so sadly and beautifully at the same time. The writing just grasps you and the author has a way of truly making you feel all sorts of emotions by the descriptiveness of each character and their feelings.
The truth came out, at least part of it: Messiah is Mizan's brother, and he was sent to get revenge on Ethic for killing Mizan. Bookie, who was locked up with Noah and recommended Messiah to Noah for when Noah was getting out and was gonna need a shooter on his team, is apparently a fucking pedophile. Messiah is terrified of him. He used to hit him and lock him in closets, and it hasn't yet been confirmed, but I think he molested his son. Mizan may have molested him too. He was talking to his bitch of a sister, Wozi about how Mizan was different with him. Different how?
When Bookie and Wozi realized Messiah was pulling out because of his love for Morgan AND his respect and loyalty for Ethic, they threatened to hurt Morgan. He couldn't keep the secret, he didn't want to risk her safety, so he pulled a gun on Ethic, but he couldn't shoot. If he could, he would have done it. He knows how Ethic gets down. He wanted Ethic to kill him. That's my theory anyway. Because there was no way he thought Ethic would hesitate. The only reason Messiah wasn't dead was because Alani and the kids pulled up to the house while Ethic had the gun to him. And he was looking Ethic straight in the eye, just like he taught him to, with tears streaming. He so conflicted. I think it would have been harder than he assumed to pull the trigger on Ethic anyway, but receiving love from Morgan softened him.
Ethic made him drive to a spot that I'm guessing is like Leekin Park (pronounced Lincoln Park for some strange reason if you're from Baltimore), and when they got there, Messiah just spilled his guts. He told Ethic that he caught his father getting head from a little boy he went to school with, and that he told him "you're next". Messiah was scared of his father. Terrified. He left, and Mizan looked out for him, but Ethic was the one who really raised him, taught him everything he knew, and made sure he ate, literally and figuratively. But the fear of his father and the fear for Morgan's safety had him contemplating going through with the murder plot. Ethic didn't kill him. He pulled him in and hugged him and Messiah broke down. Messiah never said it, but Ethic suspected that Messiah had been molested by his father. That, and the fact that the nigga tried to have him killed, is why he took his ass to the hospital where Bookie was (don't know why he was there), and killed his ass!
Ethic told Messiah to stay away from Morgan and stay out of Flint or he would kill him.
Prior to this, Morgan thought Wozi was Messiah's baby's mother that he had been hiding. She was ready to leave him for being dishonest. And he preferred her to think what she thought vs what the truth was. But when he went to Ethic's house thinking he could kill him, he didn't know Morgan was there. He assumed she was at her place off campus. She saw Ethic with his gun to Messiah and he confessed that Mizan was his brother. After that, after Ethic let him live, he cut her off and made her believe he didn't give a fuck about her and that he was planning all along to kill her too. Isa told her that was a lie. Morgan was so hurt she tried to fucking kill herself with carbon monoxide poisoning. Now she in the hospital in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber with possible brain damage from the lack of oxygen. Oh...and she fucking pregnant.
I don't know why, but I kinda hope she lose the baby. I don't know why exactly. But that secret bout to be out the bag. I got a feeling Ethic is going to reach out to Messiah. Despite everything that came out, I think Ethic knows he loves Morgan.

I love the character Ethic, I love the idea of an Ethic and everything he represents as far as manhood minus the murder but life in the streets....... I read the entire series starting with Moth to a Flame in less than a month. By the end of book 4, I was tired of the misery, books 2 and 3 were especially depressing. Tired of Alani, she is corny and draining. I don't know if Alani is suppose to represent the regular, none instagram model, everyday working woman cause I would hope not. I would hope most women are not that corny or unstable. I just wish the series had been more escapism and far less dreadfulness. The thoroughness that was Ethic in Moth, Prada and the first installment had me looking forward to his story only to feel let down by what has transpired thus far. I know life ain't all sunshine and rainbows and neither is love but I was hoping Ethic's story was epic because his character is.
Notes 📝 I love the relationship between Alani & Ethic chile but I need them to be done with the second guessing lol 😂 Bella is growing up & I’m a little concerned but also excited for my girl , also can we give props to the songs they mention in all these books , like at the end playing Forever Don’t last by my girl Jazmine Sullivan. I felt for Morgan but I had definitely guessed that big reveal from the beginning when they alluded to him having secrets , I love Morgan’s character growth because she came a long way ! The end hurt me but I have hope for her, on to book 5 💕
I am so speechless! this book had such a crazy twist. I was really mad at Messiah.. Morgan is drunk off of him and I don’t understand why she went out so sad :( Whew this book took me down through there
It has been a long time since I have read a series that has captivated my attention like the Ethic series. There are so many twists and turns, and I never see them coming. I love how the author weaves in new plots that tie all the way back to Moth to a Flame. Can't wait to start Ethic 5.
“If the man who raised you was heartless. If he loved you wrong, it’s inevitable for you to love incorrectly.”
We all make mistakes. It’s what you learn from those mistakes to be a better person.
It’s a shame that Morgan feels having a baby will give her the permanent love that she has been missing since her dad’s death.
“Blood ain’t always family. Sometimes, family is the people who choose you.”
Ethic is to die for!!!
It’s amazing that Ethic is able to make Alani feel again.
“Date her. Remove sex from the equation and get into her mind. Her heart. See if the connection is as potent with some restraint.”
I love that Alani is a God fearing woman and not afraid to go to God when needed.
“A woman’s first love determines how she loves for the rest of her life.”
I hate that Alani felt that she had to compete with the other women that she had seen Ethic with that she couldn’t just accept that he loved her for her simpleness.
I Love that Ethic loves simple. He loves Alani for who she is.
A real man and or woman will love your kids.
Do men dig a new hole everytime they hurt women???
I Hate that Morgan is so weak and willing to take her own life over Messiah.
People do not understand it doesn’t matter you don’t have to birth a child to love them all the same.
Bella is a strong young lady and one of God’s angels on earth.
Ethic, the series has more than just The Ethic Effect. It has The Messiah Effect, The Alani Effect and The Morgan Effect. Ethic 4 is emotionally draining but yet you can’t tear away from reading because even the lows produce the greatest highs. Messiah’s dilemma is gut wrenching and though you want to loathe him, you realize that it’s impossible because he draws you in further. Ethic and Alani’s love is simply otherworldly. To breathe in the essence of their love through these pages is both a pure gift and utter punishment wrapped in one. Ethic 4 plays tug-o-war with our heartstrings in ways you can’t fathom. One thing is for sure, these characters will resonate in our soul long after the ink stops spilling their story.
Wow! I hope that Messiah and Morgan will release all the hurt from lies and really take a chance to learn one another all over again especially since things are being added into their lives that neither one of them are aware of. Ethic and Alani Lord I wish they would get their mess together. This back and forth is really starting to frustrate me. The least little thing will set them off causing their relationship to bounce back and forth. I'm so happy Bella and Eazy are easiest to get along with in this story. Bella is really becoming herself, finding her own way despite her sneakiness. Eazy is really growing into his own skin.
Every emotion will surface and have you side eyeing your man. I can relate to every female character in this series. A love story that captures humans imperfections so beautifully. Your perspectives will be challenged, altered and questioned by the superb writer (Ashley). I have so many questions, not just about the books but about the mind behind the hand that pressed the keys on the keyboard that produced such art.
