I am not a mental health professional. The extent of my advice is a series of phrases I always give to my children when they are heading into exams or find themselves in a funk: “Get some fresh air and exercise – and some sun on your face. Eat some good protein and some fresh veggies. And get some sleep.” I think in today’s world, those actions fall under the term “self-care.” In fact, my advice plus another 150+ tips are found in this book! It is a great source of inspiration to encourage your college student to address the five main types of self-care – physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and professional. Be sure to check it out!

I received this book as a gift from a friend. I thought a lot of it was really nice! Some of the things covered in this book are things my therapist always reminds me to do and somehow having it in a hand held form made me care just a little bit more. Admittedly, I do think some of the things described in the book can be very out of reach for some people; especially college students that don't have a ton of money. However, this book is great for reminding others to take it easy in college and take everything one day at time.

Self-Care for College Students by Julia Dellitt was a fun book to read. Although it did have a story line, it provided me with many ideas and tips that I wouldn't have thought of as I get ready to begin my college years. A few that I found helpful were, "sign up for an intramural team," and "eat a meal at the table." The reason I chose these was because intramural activities are a good way to stay in shape and stay active, and eating at the table is a good way to stay in routine.

This book was a fun, and easy read. It was a good break from reading more challenging books. It provided me with many great tips on going about my college life and I feel much more prepared. College is going to be nerve-racking at first but I feel confident that I will be just fine now!

I really enjoyed this book, I would have to give it a 10/10. It was fun, and I didn't want to put it down. I kept wanting to read and learn more! I would recommend this book to anyone that wants a change, and some great life tips.

Recommend this quick read for all high school graduates and their parents. We often get too wrapped up with keeping up with the Jones' and forget about our basic self-care. There are tons of examples on how to support your physical, mental and emotional health. This would make a great graduation gift.
