Adulting is rough.

No one understands that more than Leah Ives--a fresh college grad who spent the last several years studying, working hard, and counting pennies. So what did all that hustle earn her? A dismal day job, debt up to her eyeballs, and a Bachelor's degree in fetching coffee.

Leah needs a getaway.
And luckily, she's taking one.

After years of planning, Leah finally saves enough for her dream cruise in the Bahamas. Her bags are packed, and she's ready to board that ship and sail off on a trip of a lifetime. Except all that organizing doesn't prepare Leah for Mallory Miller, her bitter ex-girlfriend who threatens to capsize her entire Caribbean vacation.

I've been a hopeless romantic since I was a kid--shout out to Princess Jasmine. Even before I could read, I would make up my own stories about girls loving girls secretly in my bedroom, and tell them to my childhood pets (cats make the best betas).

My passion for happy endings is even stronger now. I love writing them, and I REALLY love reading them. For me, there's nothing better than curling up on the couch with a fresh cup of coffee and my cats, and falling in love with a really great romance book.

After reading Running the Tides and adding it to my all times favorite books list I had high hopes for this novella with its interesting blurb. I'm sorry to say this book is nowhere near as good as that one and there are two main reasons for that.

The first one is because of the length of the book. The author in my opinion spent too much time on describing the various locations. Yes, I know the Bahama's is beautiful but during some moments the book felt more like a travel guide. I wish that time and space was spent on building the chemistry between Leah and Mallory which was lacking throughout the majority of the book.

The second issue is a little more complicated. It's Leah. She really isn't a very likable person.. at all. It seems the only times this woman uses her words to communicate is to lash out while playing the victim. If that wasn't enough Mallory, though a lot more likable, did a great impression of a doormat in this relatively short read.

Though the author seems to have a knack for writing steamy scenes, it wasn't enough to save this story and its less than likable characters. It does get points for having a non binary secondary character though. Read this one at your own risk kids. This ends in a 2,75* rating.

It was a cute story.

The reasoning for the initial break up was pretty dramatic though... ghosting the one you love like that seems harsh AF.

Exhilarating !

This book was refreshing in as the situation the characters found themselves in. I thought it was going to be cliche but the story being well written avoided that. I loved the chemistry between Mallory and Leah. No matter how life goes on there is always a chance that you need to take when the opportunity comes. Love is one of those times and when it crosses your path, you must follow it. Loved this story and loving this writer.

Shipped: A Romantic Novella was a great read!

I genuinely enjoyed the fact that the majority of the story took place on a cruise ship. I love cruises and have taken over 30 cruises with my wife.
I would recommend this book to anyone that would enjoy a love story like this one.

A sweet story. I had a bit of an issue accepting how they came back into each other’s lives, but once they were back together, the joys and the tensions all felt believable, so it wasn’t a major effect on my enjoyment.

(One technical note: This review is for Shipped. For some reason, Goodreads currently lists it as an edition of a totally separate book by the same author.)

🔥🌈 FRUSTRATING 🌈🔥

Why do they say such emotional things about the person there distancing themselves from . And yet profess to the audience how much they want to enrapture there selves with that person there distancing themselves from ?
That is just plain childish !
And this Leah is so f-ed up in her head especially after they had cleared up the major issue . Seriously women is messed up !

With the cold weather enveloping Arizona, who thought it would snow in Arizona, I thought I would escape with a little reading. Shipped by Amanda Kayhart is the perfect escape into a tropical beach vacation.
Shipped is a novella that focuses on Lucy’s cruise to the Caribbean. Lucy’s vacation starts with a catastrophe. Somehow the cruise line double booked her room. They ended up moving her into a suite with another woman. The shock truly comes when Lucy finds out her roommate is no one other than her ex-girlfriend Mallory who she ghosted shortly before she started college.

Malloy and Lucy were uncertain how to approach their new living arrangement and ended up walking on eggshells around each other for the first part of their stay. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book. It kept me wondering if they would ever be able to get over their past. One of my favorite scenes in the book was when Lucy and Malloy spent their final day on the beach.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was the inclusion of a gender non-conforming character. It is not often that you see trans character in books and I was pleasantly surprised by Devon’s character. I would love to see more books with trans characters.

There was only one thing that I thought detracted from the book. I felt that it could have used an epilog. It seemed like there could have been a more in-depth ending.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good second chance romance or to anyone who likes new adult romances.

I liked it

This was a sweet story. I liked both Mallory and Leah but there were moments when I wanted to shake Leah hard and tell her to get out of her own way. She needed to wake up and be grateful that Mallory obviously loved her and she needed to just believe in them both. But overall an enjoyable story.

Second Chance Romance

This was a nice second chance romance about high school sweethearts who reunite after five years apart. The story takes place on a cruise ship where Leah and Malloy meet again while being forced to share a cabin. The story and settings of the cruise ship and the Caribbean are interesting.
