An unusual arcade game controls the fate of mankind; a priest unknowingly calls more into the world than he bargained for; a biker becomes a human switchblade; a man with an odd fetish meets his match; a legendary talk show host and famous general team up in an alternate realm where TV is the mandated religion.
Mythical creatures strive for survival as a struggling strip club features a most bizarre act; an infamous punk singer capitalizes on his body horror while a family become slaves to a malevolent household fixture. And why is that woman on the train dressed like it's the 1930s? Hopefully she won't catch that nasty East Nile Virus.
In Nick Cato's world, few things are what they seem, and everything is always slightly askew.
Welcome to The Satanic Rites of Sasquatch and Other Weird Stories.
Holy hamster sex, batman, and mayhem, madness and mysterious monsters galore!
Nick Cato lets it all hang out in this collection of compellingly ludicrous and grotesque short stories. Within these pages, we find ourselves partying inside the walls of a hexed musician's ever-expanding penis; drumming alongside a vacationing family man who's trying to save humanity from the end of the world; gunning down a tobacco field's worth of toilet zombie teens; and cringing along with the last surviving man of a group of bigfoot adventurers when a run-in with the giant beasts goes badly.
The stories, which appear to have been previously published elsewhere and many of which have strange sexual themes throughout, work incredibly well with one another. Cato knows just how far to stretch things, sprinkling just enough body horror into these absurdly bizarre situations to make our heads spin but keep our eyes firmly stationed in our sockets!
If you’re into the weird and strange, then you’re a lot like myself and will enjoy this book immensely. Nick has crafted some finely tuned bizarre tales in this page turner. If you’ve never read anything by Nick Cato, you’re truly missing out!
I LOVE weird stories!! This book is as weird as weird could be!! I LOVED it and I wanted MORE. Nick Cato is such a special writer. He is in my top 5 favorite author list. You would have to read it a couple times to get the gist of the story. But well worth it. I cannot describe the book but well worth the read if you want to try something new. I cannot wait to read more of his books!! Its exciting !!!!!
I received a free copy of the book and is voluntarily writing a review
These short stories were supposed to be weird, dark humour, but just turned out to be a bit try-hard and at times, misogynistic. I had to skip a couple because they were so abstract they just didn’t make sense, like a kid trying to describe a dream.
This book has an audience, but that audience is definitely not me. I can imagine a few years ago, my younger brother and his friends, who were massively into HP Lovecraft, violent movies and heavy metal, would have loved this.
But a short story collection where two of the stories feature killer toilets is never going to be my thing.
