This is the third book in the Magic & Mystery series and it is held my interest as much as the first two if not more . Zoe has been missing her grandma and brings her Elle to Moon Grove after the Council expressly forbids it due to the timing of the Blood Moon. Zoe realizes too late why the Council told her to wait, then Elle gets mixed up in arson and murder. Zoe must swallow her pride and admit her mistakes and then figure out who wanted to kill yet another Council member. Yes sadly this time it is someone that Zoe cares for so even more of a reason for her to find out whose behind it. Along the way we also learn more about Elle and Zoe's parents.

I was so absorbed in what was happening in Moon Grove that the day disappeared without me realizing it. The story is strong, moves at a good pace and iT kept me guessing till the end and I can't wait for book 4 Heists and Homicides to come out and transport me back to Moon Grove. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a hood cozy mystery with a little paranormal thrown in.

Great new addition to the series. Fast easy to read in a day.

Just sad that bad things happen to people that Zoe likes. Book is great example of how people are not what they seem at times.

You go Grandma Elle!!! Welcome to Moon Grove.

Aside:
I had told the author that I did not care for the story of Luna's curse. As I read more and think about it; I have to say that I might have been wrong. I can see that behavior in Luna now and what would happen if that curse were reversed. Not seeing the Growth. My apologies!!! You might have to sign up for her newsletter to get it.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC copy.

*spoilers* Great story...fun with a little sad thrown in when 2 members of the community are murdered. Zoe is really thrown into it all when she sneaks Grandma Elle into town and things burst into flames...literally! This was my first book of the series, but I had no problem getting into the story. I’ll be reading the first two books ASAP!

Zoe Clarke, having been in Moon Grove for a little over a month now, had a big favor to ask the Council. Since she had to leave her family behind, with only paranormals being allowed to be here, she wanted to know if they would allow her to invite her Grandma Elle to visit. The room got very quiet; then several people she had helped spoke up on her behalf. Still, Heath Highmore, the Head Warlock, felt it wasn’t a good time for visitors. Things were much too unsettled. Of the 12 members, 10 voted against her grandmother’s visit. Unfortunately when Zoe called Gram to tell her, she couldn’t and instead lied and said she could come.

When Zoe got to work the next day, her boss told her the Council had a big announcement. Since that was Zoe’s beat, she left to report on the big news. The meeting started and Heath Highmore stated that tonight the Blood Moon would rise and present unknown challenges to the residents. He introduced a gifted witch seer to tell them what might be coming – and she predicted a death! As a precaution, the Council set a curfew for that evening – precisely when Zoe was to sneak Grandma Elle into town! Regardless, she would need to be out that night in the ominous, eerie light of that blood red moon. Grandma Elle needed her – and what if she couldn’t get through the magic gate?

As Zoe and Gram stood by the gate, Circe angrily approached and zapped them to her home. She was furious that Zoe had disobeyed and put her Grandma in danger. Gram would stay with Circe and she zapped Zoe back to her home. The next evening, as she went to visit Gram, she saw a green glow. Rounding the corner, Circe’s house on fire, green flames everywhere!

Gram croaked out her name from the bushes next to the house. Zoe went toward her, stepping on a gold top of a vial which she put in her pocket so no one else would trip. Gram had crawled across the floor to the door to escape. Circe had been in the kitchen. Firefighters arrived but their efforts with water and sand did nothing to douse the fire. The chief went inside under a magical spell and came out with Circe’s body. One of Zoe’s few friends was dead. Someone was setting Zoe up and her life was in danger – could she find the murderer or would this be the end for her too?

I love this series! The story line will definitely hold the reader’s attention as it races along in this exciting tale! We meet familiar characters and some new ones, and the mystery keeps things hopping in Moon Grove! Grab your copy and join the hunt for the murderer!

A better mystery, and I still like many of the characters. But really, what was she thinking? This happens early so I don’t think a spoiler: go against council when they implied it was dangerous at the moment? When there was no place for her grandmother to stay? When she would be busy at work and not able to spend time with her? When she wasn’t sure her grandmother would be able to get through the gates? And would she actually lie to her grandmother? And why did some on council vote in favour? This act of defiant entitlement might be a bit in character, but even so I found it hard to accept.

From there the story proceeds moderately well and is imminently readable despite editing errors (some proofreading errors like missing periods, mis-ascribed speaker, misuse of “adjourn”, and overuse of “and everyone laughed” in one scene). Zoe is out of control at times and somewhat arrogantly flippant about her odd working style. At least she comes across as slightly capable at her job this time.

What is the responsibility of council? Seems if they are responsible for everything they are shown doing they’d be swamped or the town has negligible crime. I can accept that very few people come in from outside, so they could be involved in every case.

Yet more villain stopping what they are doing to pontificate. Weak choice.

And again, she chooses to use her powers, or not use them, not by some consistent moral code, but because the plot demands it.

I enjoyed much of this, but still weak 3 stars.

Zoe Clarke has done a lot for the town of Moon Grove and can’t imagine that the council will refuse her request to allow her grandma to come to visit. But when they do, Zoe decides to sneak grandma Elle in without telling anyone on the night of the blood moon. Things don’t go as planned when Zoe gets caught, gets punished by the council, and then a prominent witch is killed in a strange house fire.

There is a long list of suspects including the new alchemist in town, her alchemist apprentice, and one really angry werewolf. Even some hints point to a werewolf mafia. When another building goes up in flames, Zoe finds herself smack dab in the middle of things without her magical wand and unsure of where to go for help.
What I enjoy most about this series is the journalist and amateur sleuth Zoe who is just coming into her powers as a witch. She is young, a bit headstrong, but believes in truth and justice. She is surrounded by a trusty group of friends from all walks of paranormal life and has the love of her cherished grandma. The books in this series always include lots of humor, adventure, and magical mysteries.

This is the third book in the Magic & Mystery series and it is as captivating as the first two. Zoe brings her grandmother Elle to Moon Grove after the Council expressly forbids it due to the timing of the Blood Moon. She realizes too late why the Council told her to wait, then Elle gets mixed up in arson and murder. Zoe must admit her hubris and then figure out who wanted to kill yet another Council member. Along the way we learn new things about Elle and Zoe's parents.

I like that Zoe can own up to her mistakes and accept her consequences with grace. She also really loves and misses her grandma. She is relentless in pursuit of the truth and doesn't stoop to reporting salacious gossip to sell papers. The story is strong and moves along at a good pace. I was so absorbed that hours would go by without even realizing it. To me that's the sign of a great book.

Zoe is on another adventure and in just as much trouble or danger as usual. This time it starts in front of the Council asking permission to bring her grandmother for a visit. It;s denied. Then she has an absolutely fabulous brain storm...get her here anyway. Her roommate, Flora, gets her gram a ticket on the silver bus. Unfortunately just afterwards, at a conference it;s discovered that it;s a blood moon. A local psychic predicts death. Now Zoe has to figure out how to smuggle her gram in. Just after she gets her in she;s caught by Circe who zaps them to her place. Now comes the fun and games as Zoe as somehow she;s got to catch an arsonist and stay alive with a reputation intact and keep her gram undercover.
Fun and games with a witchey flavor will have you holding your breathe as you hope Zoe can pull off the impossible.
Fantastic story and read!!

Zoe finds out a bi more about her family, and loses a few friends.

Life in Moon Grove is not all fairy dust and enchanted flowers.

Desperate to see her Grandmother, Zoe gets a ticket for her on the magic bus, even though her visit is not council approved.

The latest Blood Moon turns out to be lethal and dangerous to more than one witch.

Some surprising alliances are forged, betrayals aplenty, and new skills discovered.

Maybe Granny has a bit of magic in her too!

The exciting adventure continues!

So, I know there are a ton of Witchy Cozy series flooding the market, but this one is a keeper! While this is the third book, this is the first one I’ve read. I didn’t really feel lost, and any back ‘splaining was concise without feeling abrupt. The town is so whimsical, and is unique in its own way. The heroine is fantastic: she is an adult learning magic, but she is tenacious and stubborn. And one awesome reporter. This is definitely a series I will be returning to. Quick paced but not rushed. Wonderfully done.

If they didn't want her to do what she did, they should have explained it as they would have to an adult, not treated her like she was 5, and not worthy of an explanation. They want her to do all the dangerous work, then crawl back in her hole.

The way she went spineless though, does not impress me at all. They're very condescending, and evidently have been hiding all kinds of things, treating her with enormous disrespect she was unaware of. Let them solve their own problems if they're all knowing, and think so much of themselves. She should have told them where to put their one sided, sanctimonious, pissantry, grabbed Grandma, and went home.

Will I read any further? I doubt it.

A wonderful addition to the "Magic & Mystery" cozy mystery series! Another paranormal murder lands in Zoe's lap, and she sets to solve the murder. Along the way, she'll find more about her family's history, as well as get into trouble. Plenty of twists, mystery, mayhem and humor, not to mention wonderful characters of the paranormal variety!!! An excellent book and a fast read that will root you to your chair!

Another excellent witch cozy mystery

I really adore the town of Moon Grove and all its residents. What a wonderful place. In this story trouble once again finds Zoe and she must put her mistakes right for fear of what may happen to her and Grandma Elle if she doesn't. There are murders and mysteries to solve. We learn more about her family, but that raises more questions for Zoe. Good thing she has help from her friends, she needs them in this tale of intrigue. Satisfying clean read for all ages.

This book is a great addition to the series. I honestly thought I had it figured out, but I didn’t. Sage and Tony were something else. There are more twists and turns but that’s what makes it a great book. I’m glad that Zoe and Elle are together again. I can’t wait to find out more of their family history. Also, I like Marcel. I wasn’t too sure about him but he seems like a good guy, well vampire.

Zoe misses her Grandma Elle and wants her to visit but the Council voted against it. Zoe doesn't have the heart to tell her Grandma she can't visit so she sneaks her in and that's when the craziness begins. Arson, murder and twists that had me turning the pages. Alchemy and Arson is full of magic, mystery, witches, shifters and so much more. This is a fantastic murder mystery and a great addition to the Magic and Mystery series. Yes! Zoe is back in the saddle again and I could not be any happier. A journalist where murder bodies keep turning up in her presence. Is she curse to have death dogging her footsteps?

If you like witches, warlocks, vampires, were wolves and other creates on the supernatural spectrum pick up this book and have some fun.

The adventures in Moon grove continue as Zoe embroils herself in another murder investigation.

From inviting her grandmother to moon grove after being forbidden to do so, to getting her wand confiscated there's a lot happening.

Finally we start getting an idea of Zoe's lineage. As usual an amazing book by Lily Webb.

After a most unusual fire burns a house down and one of the most prominent witches with it, Zoe is left standing in the ashes wondering what happened. The citizens are not long pointing a finger at her and she has a hard road ahead of her to try to prove she didn't start the fire. Then there is another fire and another death and that doesn't help her cause either. It is a gripping new book which I truly enjoyed.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, some quirky characters and a good witchy murder to investigate. No cliffhanger, all wrapped up tidily. Without giving any spoilers, I would have been a lot harsher with the sentencing. Great light entertainment and I would be happy to read the next book in this series.

Zoe has become a household name but with that comes trouble, trouble in the form of gasoline and fire. What can Zoe do when a prominent witch dies in a fire and can she solve this mystery or will the arsonist get her. I love this series and especially Zoe and all that she does for moon grove.

I just freaking love Zoe, she has a bit of sass, great problem solver and doesn't mind breaking the rules every now and then. This murder mystery had me guessing for ages along with not knowing who I could really trust and topping it off with Grandma it was the perfect read, I was pretty gutted about the Witch that died though!!😭
