Museum Curator, Riordan Quinn, is still reeling from the tragic death of his husband a year ago. He knows life must go on for him and his two young daughters, and the first step is a dance recital for Isla, his oldest child. Things start to go awry the morning of the dance when the ballerina can’t find part of her costume. The day goes from bad to worse when his tiny dancer refuses to go onstage and dance with her class.
Sitting in the audience, Cold Case Detective, Faulkner Hayes, can’t believe his eyes when a handsome man runs up onstage at his niece’s dance recital and starts dancing with his young daughter, who’s suffering an obvious bout of stage fright. He’s stunned a second time when he finds out that the dancing man is the father of his niece’s best friend. Thrown together later at a party, Faulkner realizes Riordan is tailor-made for him. He’s just not sure what the protocol is for courting recently widowed men.
When Faulk makes his move and asks Riordan out, strange things start to happen. Is it just coincidence or the spirit of Riordan’s husband not giving his blessing to this fledgling relationship?
There’s only one man who can settle this question once and for all. When things seem darkest for Riordan and Faulk, Tennyson Grimm steps in to decipher what Stephen Walker-Quinn is really trying to say to his surviving husband and his tiny dancers.
Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. She cut her teeth in the dog-eat-dog world of fanfiction, still dreaming of the day when she would be a published author. She lives in Massachusetts with her blabbermouth muse who’ s a fan of middle of the night plot twists.
In her spare time, Pandora fancies herself an amateur nature photographer. She enjoys mucking around in swamps, hiking through the woods and crawling around on her hands and knees in her backyard seeking out the perfect shot. Pandora is a fan of roadside seafood shacks and always thinks Mexican food is a good idea at the time.
Some of Pandora’s favorite things are chocolate, writing longhand with purple pens and handsome men falling in love with each other.
Don't miss Pandora’s seductive new novel coming soon to an e-reader near you.
Tiny Dancer is a sweet book that will pull at your heartstrings, starting with the prologue and going right through until the last page. After his husband Stephen's death, Riordan is doing the best he can for his 2 young daughters. A chance meeting at their oldest daughter's dance recital turns out to be just what he, and his girls, need to begin living again. Although a bit leery at first, Riordan comes to realize Faulkner was a perfect fit for their little family. There were some funny, light-hearted moments in the book, to keep it from being too hard on the heart. I liked the touch of paranormal, it added a special touch to the story, especially with the kids.
There was a definitely a case of insta-lust/insta-love with Riordan and Faulkner, after Riordan's initial reluctance, but for a novella like this it worked.
While this is marketed as a spin-off, and can technically be read on its own, (I haven't read any of the Cold Case series), I feel like it would have been better appreciated if I had at least read the book/s where Faulkner was introduced, especially as a little of his back story is mentioned. But the fact that I didn't has no affect on my rating of this overall story. I just wanted to put it out there, in case anyone else was thinking of reading this without having read the other series.
Arc provided via LesCourt. All reviews are voluntary and my honest opinion.
Tiny Dancer fills in the gaps from Ghost Story. It starts off on a sad note, showing the tragedy that struck Riordin's family.
When Riordin's daughter makes a wish, is Faulkner the answer they need? Why do the lights keep flickering in Riordin's house? Is his daughter really talking to his deceased husband? And how many animal themed dates does it take to seduce your single dad crush?
A cute novellete that ties up some loose strings. You might tear up a bit. But Riordin gets the second chance he wasn't even looking for.
Pandora Pine once wrote that her characters come up to her and introduce themselves, insisting on their name [and what cool names the readers have encountered in this universe!]. We first met Faulkner in Dead Man Walking when he went undercover to bring down the mafia and to protect the men of Cold Case Psychic. Welcomed into the West Side Magick family, he realised that yes, the future was fluid, but there was an answer on the other side. His included tiny ballet slippers.
Months following the prediction, one dance recital stunned him into submission. Meeting widowed father of two Riordan as he danced with his anxiety ridden daughter captured his heart and before he knew it, Faulkner knew he needed this man in his life.
Spend time with these guys as they go from strangers to family and discover what the blinking lights are all about. Absolutely enjoyable. If you have not discovered Pandora Pine yet, here's your chance.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
I think this should be the theme song for all the Cold Case Psychic books... Sometimes in our lives we all have pain We all have sorrow But if we are wise We know that there's always tomorrow Lean on me, when you're not strong And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on For it won't be long 'Til I'm gonna need Somebody to lean on Please swallow your pride If I have things you need to borrow For no one can fill those of your needs That you won't let show You just call on me brother, when you need a hand We all need somebody to lean on I just might have a problem that you'll understand We all need somebody to lean on Lean on me, when you're not strong And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on For it won't be long 'Til I'm gonna need Somebody to lean on You just call on me brother, when you need a hand We all need somebody to lean on I just might have a problem that you'll understand We all need somebody to lean on If there is a load you have to bear That you can't carry I'm right up the road I'll share your load
Riordan was just barely managing to get him and his girl's through each day, but what they needed was a "helping hand" and Faulk finds himself more than willing to be the one to step in and offer that hand to help bring light and joy back into their lives!
The support that all of Ms. Pine's characters offer each other is what this world needs more of... not the hate that is being spun out from our very own White House. I wake up every morning, read the news and wonder when did hate become the norm? How are we going to make it all stop? Then I remember what my grandmother always said... kill them with kindness! *grin*
So, there is always hope, as long as there is love in this world... there is HOPE!
Psst: don't think that I missed those messed up quotations! I just enjoyed the story too much to make a big issue about them! *grin*
Pandora really knows how to pull at my heart. This story was so sweet, funny and at times heart wrenching.
From the beginning to the end I was on a roller-coaster of emotions. From the lost of Riordan’s partner to the visit with Tennyson.
Riordan went through his grieving moments, but he stayed strong for his little girls. The kids were just so amazing and strong as well.
Faulk was a great man. Perfect for Riordan and his children. I loved how well they all took to each other. The girls accepting him into their lives and him accepting a widowed man with kids just shows how kind hearted and open Faulk was.
Isla was probably my favorite followed closely by Faulk. She was a trooper and really stuck out in this story. I couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to be so young and lose a parent.
Opening up to a new life, a new love can’t be easy after losing someone, but Riordan did, and it was beautiful to take that journey with him.
OMG I absolutely loved Riordan ad Faulkner's story! The girls were so adorable and they were just the perfect family together.
Riordan had the perfect life with his husband Stephen and their two beautiful girls, Isla and Macy, until an accident took Stephen's life. Riordan is just trying to cope with being a widowed father raising his girls alone. When his daughter panics at her dance recital, he jumps in stage to dance it with her. After he meets Faulkner and begins getting to know him. Riordan is an amazing dad and I really enjoyed getting to know him. He struggled with moving on yet he met each day with hope and strength, and his girls mean everything to him.
Faulkner we previously met in Tennyson and Ronans books, specifically when Faulkner helped them with the Dragonni case. He has transfer from Major Crimes to Cold Case wanting a job with less danger and bullets, so he can someday settle down with a family. When he is at Laurels recital he is enchanted by the the tiny dancer and her amazing father and wants nothing more than to get to know them better. Faulkner was such a great character and I loved him. He was so amazing with not just Isla and Macy, but all the kids of his friends. He was so patient, yet he fights for what he wants. He was also understanding of Riordans feelings.
This book was so perfect and I loved watfhing their relationship begin and the family that they became together. I definitely shed some tears in this book because their was so many touching and emotional moments that made this a really beautiful story. I highly recommend reading this book!

Despite being a novella, this felt like a fully fleshed out relationship based on something solid and not just a supernatural enhancement of insta-love. When Riordan jumps on stage to dance with his daughters because of stage fright I was just as charmed as everyone else. His innate strength of character allowed him to push on despite his grief and his lack of pride let him accept help where it was available. I loved his humility. And for a loving, supportive partner, there was no man better than Faulkner. While I had reservations about him before this point, he more than redeemed himself with his stellar care and concern for Riordan as well as his adoration of all the children. His heart was so obvious in this story that I couldn't help but fall head over heels for him.
The only thing I had an issue with was the four year old speaking like she was seven or eight. I enjoyed her role and pure childlike acceptance of the supernatural, but it was the age and verbalization capabilities that took me out of the story quite a few times. I also wish I got a lot more of Faulkner's background, but I liked what we did get. Overall though, this was a fantastically sweet story that fit in with the parent series and introduced me to new characters to love.
The most adorable characters! Both the adults and children pull on your heart strings in the bets ways and I instantly fell in love with this whole family. Faulkner is a man that anyone would love to have in their lives and the way he dotes on the children, both Riordan's little girls and the children from the Cold Case universe, is just so freaking cute! For such a large man he has great care and attention to give them and then when it's directed towards Riodran, it turns to a romance worthy of both men who have bad experiences in their recent past. Though there is the death of Riordan's husband the year before, I would say that this is one of the lighter books in the Cold Case universe. We are introduced to a new family who are worthy of being included in this ever growing community and who give Faulkner the chance to let go of the darkness of his recent life undercover with the police. A definite must read for fans and I'd recommend reading the books in order just because of the constant inclusion of more characters and the history that they all have together. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Oh wow, this one had my emotions all over the place! Tiny Dancer is a beautiful story about family, love, loss, and moving on. Have tissues for this one, guys, it might hurt a bit. But don't worry, there is also plenty of laughter and fun and sweet moments that made my heart feel too big for my chest at times. Isla and Macy are the most adorable little girls (and Isla is a spitfire, too), and I completely fell in love with them. Riordan and Faulkner click from the start and are adorable together. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship and the family outings they went on with the girls so much! And Faulkner? He is pretty much exactly what I look for in a man, so he has joined the ranks of my loves Ronan and Jude in my eyes. And believe me, that is no small feat.
This endearing novella is well-rounded, complete, and will tug on your heartstrings. With an adorable story and captivating characters, Tiny Dancer is a wonderful addition to this Pandoraverse. I love how Faulk and Riordan have been pulled into Ronan and Ten's world, and I really hope to see a lot more of them in the future!!
Aw, all the emotions! Wonderful, sweet and a bit sad but creates all the feels!!
My emotions are all over the place after this story. It was heartbreaking from the opening sentence and I felt for Riordan and his girls. Pandora's writing is exceptional as always and I was in tears for the family.
I loved Uncle F#*k! He is a wonderful character and so glad he got his own story and we got to learn more about him. He is great with the kids he almost rivals Jude in his abilities with the kids. I love the West Side Magic family!
I felt the connection between Faulk and Riordan from the start and even though Riordan was in some ways still greaving, the insta-love connect was evident. Their chemistry was great!
The interaction with Stephen broke my heart, made me cry, laugh and love all at once. His love for Riordan and his girls was wonderful to read! His desire for happiness for Riordan was great and brought a level of peace to the story.
Holy cow. This book packed a punch and I bawled my head off. This was so well written and emotional. Riordan and Stephen were so in love and had an amazing family with their 2 girls (3 year old Isla and 3 months old Macy) until Stephen was killed in a car crash. Riordan was in a really deep depression for a while, understandably.
Faulk is the new cold case detective since Ronan became sergeant. He’s been working with Ten and Ronan for a couple of books now and it is nice to see him find happiness. He is the ultimate sweetheart and just adores Isla and Macy when he meets them a year later. Their romance and family outings are adorable and wonderful.
Of course, Ten is a psychic so after some fear of betraying Stephen and breaking up with Faulk, Riordan does a reading with Ten where he communicates with Stephen. My gosh did that make me ugly cry. It was so beautiful and their love was so wonderful. I loved how Stephen and Faulk appreciated each other, too.
This was so great. I’m still tearing up just thinking about it as I write this about 12 hours later. Beautiful and wonderful no really hope we see more of Faulk, Riordan, and their whole family in books to come.
Cold Case Detective, Faulkner Hayes is at a dance recital for Laurel when something amazing happens. One of the tiny dancers has a case of stage fright, and her handsome widower father saves the day by dancing with her. Faulk is instantly smitten and then can't believe he is the father of his niece’s best friend. Has fate brought them together? Could this be the meaning of the ballet slippers the psychics told him they saw in his future?
Museum Curator, Riordan Quinn is struggling to raise his two daughters after the death of his husband. When he sets eyes on Faulk the attraction is immediate. But then strange things start to happen. Could his husband be trying to communicate with him? Does he want Faulk out of his life? Or is he misreading the signs?
When things seem darkest for Riordan and Faulk, Tennyson Grimm steps in to decipher what Stephen Walker-Quinn is really trying to say to his surviving husband and his tiny dancers.
I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet Free Kindle Unlimited novella. Great MC's and a clever plot.
I love this delightful and sweet story! It is beautifully written, hilarious, emotional, romantic, full of cute kiddos, has a great storyline and the characters are amazing. Faulk and Riordan are my new favorite couple in the Cold Case Psychic universe. Their relationship develops quickly and I love how Faulk falls in love with Riordan's daughters Macy and Isla as well as their dad. They are perfect for each other even though Riordan is still struggling to deal with the loss of his husband. They have a few obstacles to deal with but luckily they have some amazing people from the previous books to help and support them. My favorite parts are the dance recitals and what an incredible dad Riordan is. I was fully engaged from the very first page and I love that it made me laugh and cry all the way through to the perfect ending. I can't wait to see what Pandora Pine has in store for us next.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Reading one of the "Dead Case Files" books and spin offs is like waiting for your favorite dessert. You cobble it all up and then you have to wait until the next time you order that dessert, which may take weeks and months before you are able to get it again. You have to rely on store bought desserts until the "real" one comes along again. I'm am afraid I cobbled up this book like that and now will have to suffer until the next one arrives on my table. Faulkner sees the love of his life and Riordan with his two tiny daughters find him just as enticing. Problem is, does the spirit of Stephan, Riordan's dead husband approve of the match? We see Ten, Ronan and Cole with a visit from Bertha in the book and as always you feel like you are reading about your friends and family rather than characters in a book. Not a lot of action this time around in the storyline, but definitely entertaining and fulfilling.
Sweet romance that will have your heart dancing with happiness! These two MC's seem so different, yet as the story-line unfolds you will find that their hearts are what bind them together and their love for two children. I laughed, cried and sighed with happiness as this story wound its way to forever. The writing was great and the story-line was really engaging.
One of my favorite parts of this story is how these men learn to take risks with their heart and develop a truly amazing bond. Their were many beautiful moments that will remain in my memory.
Faulkner and Riordan have a really special connection and i know know you will love them too! i loved that we got to see some of our favorite characters from the old Case Psychic series. I know you will enjoy their support as these guys follow their path to finding their HEA.
I am a huge fan of the Cold Case Psychic series, as well as all the spin-off stories. I go back and re-read favorite parts of different books sometimes, when I need a little comfort. This book is going to definitely be a comfort re-read for me in the future! I love love love Faulk, Riordan and his girls, and Stephen. There is so much goodness in Faulk, and it is precious how much Isla and Macy love him from their first meeting. Riordan is a devoted and wonderful father, even as he struggles to get through his grief over losing Stephen. And Stephen is the same great dad after death as he was when he was alive. This story made me laugh and cry, and the characters - both old and new - were fantastic. The friendship that the other books are full of is here as well, and I adored every bit of it. I recommend this terrific book, and I can't wait to read it again!
Tiny Dancer has all the love, charm, and humor we've come to expect from Pandora Pine.
It's a beautiful second chance at love for Reardon, as Faulk gives him another chance at love. It's wonderfully done, with all the usual hesitation you'd expect, but with the added charm of the physic's gifts. Perfectly done!
The author excels at writing little kids, with all the good and bad, with a whole lot of the sweetness and innocence. "Uncle Fuck."
I love every second of this story, as with Pandora Pine's books in general.
Reardon's loss is gut-wrenching, and I am thrilled it was glossed over quick.
Tiny Dancer is sweet, emotional, and will endear you to these men. All of the men we've met at the West Side Magick shop are wonderful, full of love, heart, and humor. I absolutely love these books.
There's something very creepy about this story. If I hadn't read the book where Fletcher was introduced as a character, I would be worried about him, especially after taking the Boy Scouts Youth Protection training. Here is a guy who loves Riordan's girls a little too much. He practically friend them in presents. He doesn't ask permission before laying it on thick.
Riordan just lost his husband a year ago. He dated one guy for a week and a half, and he's staying the night and taking care of sick kids? That's too fast, too easy, too perfect.
This is a romance novel, so I'm not accusing Fletcher of anything, obviously. It just didn't quite work for me.
Okay, grab your kleenex.... Faulkner Hayes, has stepped out of major crimes, and his undercover job, after the Dragonni case. He is now working under Ronan in Cold Case. Faulkner has also been readily accepted into the family, and was invited to watch the dance class of Laurel, Cole and Cassie's daughter. Cassie has a best friend in the class Isla. When Isla is afraid to step out on stage, her father Riordan comes to the rescue. Faulkner is smitten, both with the little girl, and her father. Riordan is grieving the sudden death of his first husband, will he ever give love another chance. I cried, I laughed, and loved this story....I absolutely love the world building and the family Ms. Pine is growing in this series.
Tiny Dancer by Pandora Pine is a spinoff novella of the Cold Case Psychic series. It tells the story of Riordan Quinn and Faulkner Hayes.. and the paranormal activity that starts to surround them as they fall in love. This story is absolutely amazing - I love love love these two men together. The children are adorable and we get a dose of our favorite psychic Tennyson! There are a few sad moments like the beginning of the book, but it's also sweet and adorable and funny. Its definitely a great addition to the series and spin offs.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
Awww this is a truly wonderful short love story of love, life after loss and ballet shoes. This novella is all about how Uncle Faulk after not thinking for 6 months about Tennyson Grimm's vision of Ballet slippers, finds love in the shape of a dad that got up and danced in the recital with his stage frightened little girl. As with all Pandora Pines books the family pulls together to help one of their own, with a little help of course from the other side. This book has fantastic characters in and the children especially will tug at your heartstrings, in fact the whole family are a wonderful addition to the cold case community, which is a rich world that continues to grow, quite frankly I would love to live there myself. This book is on the lighter end of the scale within the series with people getting their HEA which they absolutely deserve. A must read for fans, although I would recomend reading them in order, so the little thing that is discussed makes more sense as well as characters and their histories/situations.
Faulk finds himself drawn to the father dancing on stage to help his daughter with stage fright and is glad to find out that the little girl is his niece's best friend. Still struggling with the death of his husband, Riordan finds himself attracted to the man at his daughter's dance recital. As these two grow closer, Riordan begins to worry that what is happening in his home is the displeasure of his deceased husband.
This story has so many emotional moments that create the perfect story for a widower and the man that falls in love with him and his children. Riordan seems to be the perfect partner for Faulk.
I never cry when reading a book. Well, hardly ever! I won't admit that I cried, but there were many times I had to sniffle and dab at some stray moisture that just wouldn't stay out of my eyes!! I loved the character of Riordan. He is just so...real. From heartbreak to dealing with daily life, I enjoyed his journey toward his future. Faulkner was a character that I adored when we first meet him in the Cold Case series. I loved how he had a chance to really show his heart and not just be a huge flirt like we knew before. Great story that tugs at the heartstrings.

Instalove dual point of view Standalone but better if have read Cold Case Psychic 10
Cold Case Detective Faulk is an honorary uncle to many littles and that is how he ends up at a dance recital watching widower Riordan accompanying his scared daughter on stage. The attraction is instant between the two men and Riordan’s two daughters as they start dating. However, its the first time they have contemplated adding someone to the group since Stephen died and there are a lot of emotions to process. Will grief keep them apart?
Faulk is ideal - managing puke and exploding diapers!! I loved the Daddy/Daughter recital idea - I want to see that!!
This was surprising moving story with Faulkner Hayes being the MC. The book also introduces a new character, Riordan Quinn, a widowed gay father with two young girls; Isla, and Macy. Lauren and Isla belong to the same dance class and the extended family all go to see the recital. Poor Isla has stage fright, and super-dad Riordan runs up on stage to dance with Isla while holding Macy in his arms. Faulk is instantly smitten by Dancing Dad, and is fortunate enough to get to spend some time with him at Cassie & Cole’s after-performance BBQ. The book is all romance as Faulk and Riordan (and the girls) wend their way through the courtship. This books has ALL the feels.
This book is part of the cold case psychic universe and follows Riordan and Faulkner who make occasional appearances in the series.
This was a cute short story about life after loss. This book successfully depicts the trials and tribulations of being a widower and a single dad just trying to survive (at least how I imagine it would be). I really liked the psychic elements of this story too. The only thing that was off for me was the speedy romance but I suppose it would happen.
Overall, this was a cute short story that fits well in the cold case psychic world.
I absolutely loved this incredibly sweet and emotional spin off novella….My skin was all tingly, and I had a huge smile on my face when I finished. I am still relatively new to the paranormal world. I also have not read Cold Case Psychic series….YET, but I will before you all yell at me to do so. LOL This is the second spin off from this series I’ve read, and I did not feel lost at all not having read the series. I totally enjoyed getting lost in the paranormal world and I look forward to reading more of Pandora's wonderfully written stories.
