I read this entire goddamn 700 page book for my grad school and have been suffering the whole time so yeah i’m gonna log these fucking pages to feel something
Gotta wonder how many educators in the system have child development as a requirement. After reading this, its clear that a differentiated approach is needed in all classrooms.
It's a textbook...it's a long arse textbook. What more is there to say? Still saving them for the biggest bonfire in March 2019 when I finish my Master's degree.
I used this book as a resource for my senior research project over child development. I learned a lot from this book about what goes into a child's learning. It was clear to me after reading that in a perfect world each child could have their own personalized education plan. However, in reality, with 30 kids per class, that is not quite an option, but I learned in this book that teachers should try their best to individualize kids and their abilities. This book was a little harder to follow for me being in high school. I felt it was at a high college reading level... maybe a graduate school text book or something around there. The authors did carry a conversational tone throughout the book which made it easier to take away from and apply the concepts easier. This book offered a lot of insight into how big of a role education has in child development and I was able to take away a lot of insightful information for my research paper.
Having two degrees in Psychology, not much of this was new to me. Although the content was relevant to future educators, I though the writing itself was too technical for an introductory textbook. Okay for grad school but overall not as engaging as this subject has the potential to be.
A well-written and very useful resource for educators. The authors write conversationally and naturally and provide many practical suggestions. I haven't read the entire text, but dip in frequently for understanding of particular issues and problems.
