G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.
His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.
Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.

This is the 1st book in the series. It would be worth reading the Corps Justice series first because the main person in this book has appeared there many times.
Our hero is an analyst who was approached to help the CIA better handle obtaining information from interrogations. He has the background and schooling but no practical law knowledge or experience. Anyhow, the CIA organizes many people who get together to see how they would do in certain exercises. If they fail, they were out. This was an experiment which they were trying because the normal areas were not working out how the CIA wanted them to.
The plot was a great one and you could see who was passing and who was failing. The tests within a test were pretty good too. Then to throw them into a few live areas was great. The couple of guys in the CIA who were ahead of this project were annoying but the other was pretty good. However, the small group which finishes and puts itself to the test has all the areas it needs. Although you could see our main hero and one of his teammates have chemistry, it was interesting to see them not act upon it.

Those readers who have taken upon themselves to join Cooper's Corps Justice series of books already know that Dr. Al Higgins plays an important part of the cadre of characters as an expert interrogator. This is the back story wherein he attempts to join the CIA as one.
He's overweight, a bit concerned about his possible position as a new CIA employee. But his forte is his ability to observe and make critical decisions. These traits, of course, make him an expert interrogator and a perfect addition to the CIA. The story is about his training that will allow the CIA to accept him - or not.
Cooper brings us a detailed story of how the CIA believes bringing on interrogators will be necessary in the 1980s to combat the suspected future terrorists.
I love these back stories and believe there should be more of them.

The CIA is trying g a new program. A different type of obtaining information. More of a mental game instead of a physical confrontation. An elite group of individuals are hand picked for this team. Mostly from within the CIA ranks, but two are not. One is doctor, two PHD'S. The other a seasoned detective. The only female. These are the two handpicked attendees with the most promise. The handpicked team of four are given a special mission and are sent to the middle east to interrogate a captured terrorist. What ensues is a captivating story of team work with different personalities which at time conflict with each other but. A strong bonding occurs. Another excellent read by C.G. Cooper!!

Very well done! , great backstory and beginning for Dr. Higgins
The common theme through all Coopers books is the team building and widely variable personality characters that inhabit the story. This is well written and born from reality of the real world. As many others have stated, you can't put it down once started, one must see what happens next. I have enjoyed all the books in the series and its spawn and continue to enjoy the new entries such as this. The story could go on forever (with additional back stories and new characters). I do love a continuous saga with well developed and known characters that we feel we know personally.

While this is the first in a series it truly all began with the Corps Justice series. Dr Higgins is a wonderful character in that series and gets the spotlight in this inaugural run of the Interrogator’s series. Just like Daniel Briggs brought about his own backstory series so now has Dr Higgins. I love this character and everything he brings to the Corps Justice series and throughly enjoyed this flashback in time to see how Higgins found his way to the CIA. Looking forward to more in this series to see how Higgins became the consummate professional who was ultimately lured away by Major Stokes. Very well written!

Better than I expected, and I expected excellence.
C. G. Cooper was one of my favorite authors, and "Higgins" is an outstanding addition to Cooper's long list of series. Love reading his work and it is hard for me to put one down once I've started it. "Higgins" will be a great story to fillow. I can't wait!!!!!

This book can be read as a stand alone or as part of the Corps Justice series, either is fine (although I would hugely recommend you read all the series too!).
Having read the entire series, I found it very interesting to go back to basics as it were and see how the character Higgins came to be. The storyline was very enjoyable and a real page turner.

Another well worth the wait to read...
Backstories are the best, and this novel by Mr Cooper definitely does not disappoint! Mr. Cooper novels are like family, this one introduces how the Psychologist, Dr. Higgins ends up meeting Cal Stokes, and a lot of story which leads to that meeting! Come on...read CG Cooper, you’re going to be a fan!

CGCooper —AGAIN
I lost count of how many books I have read by Cooper,and they are All good reads. The Interrogators book one was excellent,however, I would have enjoyed more suspense when Higgins and company escaped. It would have been more exciting but it was still an excellent novel. Looking forward to book two

Excellent read
Enjoyed the book very much. Liked Higgens in the other books. Now I like him more. Only complaint is that the sequence of books are not listed correctly in Kindle. If there is no reference at the end of a series you have to search. When you read about 3 books a week titles are forgotten. Probably the fault of Amazon.

This is an incredibly addictive and intriguing story written with great skill to ensure the reader gets ultimate pleasure from it. My attention was caught from start to finish and I highly recommended this to you. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Higgins is the first book in The Interrogators series. While this book is an offshoot of the author's Corps Justice series, this book can be read as a standalone. I am so excited to find out more about this interesting character! Definitely worth reading!!

Exciting
A good book has something for everyone especially those who like me are a C .G. Cooper can. My favorite was when Cal Stokes made an appearance as He is my favorite character and so thirsty for another story with him in it.

Higgins
Never a dull moment with a C.G. Cooper book and this one went beyond! Carlos left nothing out when describing the character Higgins. What a great introduction for a valued member of the Cal Stokes team! Keep up the great books.

Higgins Esposed
I had often wondered about the origins of Higgins story. Still, even in this I feel there is much more to tell, many more nuances to learn. How the tight bond was formed. So many more questions to be answered. Higgins 2 perhaps?

A new direction
As with most C.G. Cooper books hated to put down. This introduces a new team and sets you up for more to come. A mixture of brown and intelligence. Looking forward to more now that the team is in it's way.

Great Read
We now know a bit more about Dr Higgins. As usual Mr Cooper has captured my attention with his talent of drawing we readers in each volume he writes. Thank You Mr Cooper for another Superb book.

Great plot
I now have a better appreciation of Dr. Higgins. Wish I had read it before I was so deep into the series. Great story that keeps you guessing throughout. Another Cooper winner!

Love reading anything C.G.Cooper writes. It's great reading the back story to characters in the Corps Justice series. Higgens is one of my favorites! This is also a stand alone novel with a good story. Hope there's going to be more in this series.
