From medical secretary to court reporter to property manager to owner of a special events decorating company, my resume reads as if I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. But one thing that has remained constant through the years is my love for writing. I currently pen fun and fast-paced inspirational romance and romantic suspense stories. My books have won several awards and been nominated for two RITA® awards and an RT Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Award.

After spending most of my life in Florida, a few years ago, I moved to the mountains of North Carolina, where I write my stories outside on the back deck in the summertime and inside in front of the fireplace in the wintertime. When I’m not writing or doing writerly things, I enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking—almost anything outdoors. My two grown daughters and grandkids live too far away for my liking, so I now pour all that nurturing into taking care of two sassy black cats.

I'm a huge fan of Carol J. Post's Love Inspired Suspense stories, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. The cover is adorable and I love how the story revolves around a little girl.

The suspense was great. I had a hunch early on who the "bad guy" was and so when the reveal happened I wasn't surprised at all...but that didn't bother me. There were enough moments of danger and suspense to keep me interested.

The ending was intense -- I actually didn't know how things would turn out, but I'm very happy with the way it ended.

All in all, Dangerous Relations was a good read and I recommend to fans of this genre.

I love Carol J. Post! Just putting that out there right from the start. Love the balance between romance and suspense punctuated by thrills of action and danger. Kept me riveted right to the very last page. I had my own suspicions on the bad guy early on in the story but still delighted in the fast-paced plot as I waited to find out if I was right. (I was!) And the romance -- Phew! Sparks fly from their adversarial first meet through to a whoosh-release-your-pent-up-breath-in-relief conclusion. What a delectable treat of a read.

Dangerous Relations grabs attention right away and the action does not stop until the story ends. Shelby arrives at her sister's apartment for dinner with her and her toddler daughter Chloe only to discover that Mia has been murdered. Ryan, brother to Chloe's jailed father, arrives about the same time. After a little heated discussion, it was decided that Shelby should take over care of Chloe, with Addy's help, until it can be decided by the courts, but with a promise to Ryan that he can visit whenever he would like. However, Ryan's father and stepmother want Chloe too. Ryan has been estranged from his father for twenty years because he chose a career in the Navy over working in his father's unscrupulous bar club businesses. Ryan's father threatened Shelby to give them custody of Chloe or she would regret it. When Shelby's life is in danger several times, Ryan steps in to help keep her, Chloe and Addy safe. But the trouble never stops and Ryan wonders if his father is behind everything. Could there be someone else? Things are not always what they seem and trouble can come from an unexpected source. Both Shelby and Ryan had unhappy childhoods but both had Christian mentors in their life. Their influence helped them turned to prayer during this stressful time. This is a page turner, not to be missed.
I received a complimentary ARC from the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

Dangerous Relations was a great action-packed novel! The author did a good job of crafting two likable main characters, Shelby and Ryan, who had complicated back stories. These two already had trust issues, and suddenly they had to learn to trust each other in order to keep their niece safe.

Although, I had my suspicions about the identity of the villain, the nonstop threats that kept coming had me anxiously turning pages to see how things would work out. This novel was definitely packed with danger and suspense!

This book hits the mark for me! There is a lot of action and second guessing as to who is really after baby Chloe AND Shelby Adair, the aunt! Shelby's sister is murdered in the beginning of the book and the reader is kept in suspense as to the motive! There are lots of possibilities but the real motive isn't revealed until the end and it isn't what I thought it would be at all! The uncle, Ryan, is trying to protect Shelby and Chloe but Shelby is constantly on guard with him because she thinks his family was involved in the murder so she doesn't know if she can trust him, even though he's been estranged from his family for years! I really liked Ryan's character though. He was such a tender uncle and so sweet to baby Chloe! Amidst all the danger, he tried constantly to prove his trustworthiness! I recommend this!

I have reviewed several books for this author, and she is a large contributing factor in me getting hooked on the Love Inspired Suspense novels, which I have entirely too many of now. :)

This is the sixth book in a series titled Baby Protectors, all written by different authors. I have read all of them, and enjoy the premise of people protecting babies. Plus there is the fact I have enjoyed all of this author's books I have reviewed.

Dangerous Relations had likable characters, but none more likable than Ryan. I do my best to avoid spoilers, but fairly early in the book some information comes to light that gives him an out on protecting the small child, but he sticks with it.

The book is very suspenseful, and though these books don't take me long to read, I did read it in one sitting, devouring every page, wondering what was going to happen next.....and there were surprises.

I was pretty sure I knew the identity of whoever was after the baby, and was correct....but even then I didn't figure the whole guilty party thing out.

These are romantic suspense novels, so you know the guy is going to get the girl. I used to not be so crazy about that, as a confirmed bachelor, but I hit a point where I actually enjoy that...so I did enjoy that angle of this, and how it came about.

Post has added a great book to the Baby Protector Series, and shown why she is still on the Love Inspired author roster.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.

I'm sorry, but... no.

First, it's obvious who the killer is from moment one. It's no fun reading a suspense that's... well, so predictable.

Second, it's supposed to be 'Love Inspired'... inspired meaning with faith undercurrents through it. There aren't faith undercurrents. They talk about how her aunt went to church, and at the end they decide that God is real and they should go to church, too... but they don't even pray when hanging from a missing balcony, hello. There *IS* no faith to bolster yours, in this.

Third, it's supposed to be 'Love Inspired'... love indicating a romance slant to the story. There's a guy, and there's a girl, but there's no chemistry between them at all. They barely get together at the end of the crisis, and even when he proposes three months later in the epilogue, the heroine has absolutely NO interest in romance, at all. It was disappointing.

Mia is the wild sister, and told the reliable sister (Shelby) that something bad was going down at work... and shortly after, Mia's throat is slit. Mia had a baby, and Shelby takes the baby, but someone's trying to off her. The baby-daddy's-uncle has tried to make up for the fact that his brother isn't involved, and... of course the mutual baby worship of the two leads to a HEA, but it's not sweet or anything.

Ryan is a 50-something woman written as a man by a 50-something woman. He drives an Equinox, for the love of Mike, and has violets, orchids, philodendrons and tons of other plants he's devoted to. Either he's effeminate or gay, but he's NOT written as the PTSD 20-years of service Naval enlistee that he's supposed to be. We're told that he's a lady's man, but Shelby never calls him on it, or clarifies anything about his post-divorce dating life.

Plus the story was seriously weak. No police would allow people to congregate in the hall outside of a murder scene. There's not even any yellow tape cordoning off the area by the time the ME is there, hello. More, if THAT many incidences were happening at her place in a 'few weeks time' (break ins, bomb threats, notes on the door, pry marks, missing balcony, etc.), they would have a cop stake-out the apartment and apprehend the masked person. Especially when the case is tied to 1) a murder, 2) possible mafia activity, and 3) an attempted kidnapping. It wasn't done well.

I wish there were less "I said nice things because I got a free copy" reviews and more honest ones, because it'd save a lot of people a lot of time...

Will they fight each or fight together...?

Wow! I think Dangerous Relations may be one of the most edge-of-your-seat Love Inspired Suspense books that I've read this year! Seriously, author Carol J. Post takes readers on a wild ride with more twists and turns than a mountain highway.

Just when you think you've got the whole story figured out and neatly tied up, bang, you find out you really didn't know anything at all. While I did have the villain figured out pretty early on I was still in for some big surprises as Carol J. Post sure tossed plenty of distractions my way.

I really enjoyed Dangerous Relations with all of its danger and romance. It was a great read and I know that I will be looking for more of Carol J. Post's books in the future.

(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)

Are there truly people in this world who think they can buy whatever they want? When Chloe’s mother was murdered, the baby’s aunt was ready to provide her a home. Others, including the brother of the father, the nanny, and the parents of the father, had similar ideas. The grandfather is determined that they are going to get the baby. He thinks his money can buy everything. Although he seems ready to get the baby any way he can, I never figured out why an unscrupulous criminal, who had been a terrible father, would want a baby. Ryan and Shelby are quickly thrown together in protecting Chloe from ending up in the wrong hands. They are faced with one attack after another, besides all the legal maneuvering of the grandfather to try to get the baby from Shelby to whom the police had given the baby to care for until things could be sorted out. Neither Ryan nor Shelby have a personal relationship with God, but difficulties often can cause people to turn to God. A little prayer slips out here and another one later. Even as Chloe was starting to learn to talk and to move around more on her own, I enjoyed their beginning efforts to draw closer to God. Had I been in their shoes, I think I would have been doing some serious praying myself. I enjoyed the story as it included suspense, action, faith, and romance. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

A struggle

This was a struggle, it took me a week to read this book it dragged on and on and on. Normally I can finish one of the Inspired Suspense book in about two days if the suspense and action us fast pace. This wasn't. I figured out who the bad guys were by the second or third chapter. Happy for Ryan and Shelby they both came from dysfunctional families but they found their HEA with each other and baby Chloe.

I enjoyed this clean, love inspired, Suspenseful romance. I voluntarily chose to review this story and I have given it a 5* rating. This has clues all over the place but they don't really lead on to the one's that do it. There is a bit of glued to your seat kind of action, making you want to know what happens next. I had some suspicions toward the end, but kept getting clues in another direction. The suspense just kept on coming till almost the very end. Love these Love-Inspired books.

WOW!!!!

This is a really good book. A lot of mystery and intrique. And romance and faith in God. I was really surprised at the identity of the killer. The author did a good job hiding that detail.

A good story with a cute kiddo. While not my favorite Carol book, it was plenty exciting and had likable characters. The villain was fairly easy to pick out but the ending still had a surprise or two. Good read.

“She’d neglected her niece, ignored her sister and fought him for Chloe. But there was no way he’d leave her at the mercy of a ruthless killer,” Ryan determined in Carol J. Post’s novel, Dangerous Relations.

~ What ~
Part of the Love Inspired Suspense series, this The Baby Protectors novel is two-hundred-and-twenty-four-page pocket-sized paperback targets those who enjoy inspirational suspense while dealing with dysfunctional families, caring loved ones, and dying. With no profanity or sexual content, topics of physical abuse, murder, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. The book promotes that God is always there for us. An author’s note and insert of other Love Inspired series books are at the end.

In this current-day story based in the state of Washington, Shelby Adair is once again picking up the pieces from her dysfunctional family, but this time it is because her sister has been murdered and she is left taking care of a fifteen-month-old child. When Ryan McConnel demands custody of the little girl because he is her uncle, Shelby relies on Addy, the nanny who has been taking care of the girl since birth.

After several attempts on her life, Shelby has to learn to trust Ryan, even though his father is a powerful man with a shady past who always gets what he wants. The two protagonists try to find out why the baby’s mother was killed as they get caught up in a cat and mouse game, trying to stay alive.

~ Why ~
This fast-paced drama focuses on protecting an innocent child while searching for a killer. I appreciate how the relationship between Shelby and Ryan advanced from one where both were on guard to becoming friends and then falling in love. The detailed locations and scenery were entertaining, especially since I live in the Pacific Northwest.

~ Why Not ~
Those who do not know Jesus Christ personally may not appreciate the concept of being a relationship with Him, who is always there by our side. Some may not care for the topic of a child left parentless with relatives fighting over her guardianship.

~ Wish ~
Having guessed the killer in the first chapter, I wish it was less obvious. While I like the smallness of the book, I found the tiny print hard to read.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a suspenseful fiction that shows how love conquers bad family connections, trying emotional setbacks, and the search for a murderer, this will keep your attention for a few hours.

Thanks to the author for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

I have had the privilege of reading many of Carol's books and I've enjoyed every one of them. This book is no exception! I read this book in one sitting and just couldn't put it down!

Shelby is a young woman who has had a difficult childhood and had responsibilities that a girl shouldn't have to have. She's responsible but has left some family relationships behind that she is now trying to restore. One of those is her younger sister, Mia and her niece, Chloe. Unfortunately, one night when they are going to meet for dinner, she shows up to Mia's apartment to find it filled with police officers. Her sister has been killed and now she needs to be responsible for her niece.

This brings Ryan into her life. He is Chloe's uncle on her father's side and he also wants custody of Chloe. Before any of this can be worked out, they are thrown together when they realize that Shelby's life is in danger and that puts Chloe in danger, too. Ryan decides to be he protector they need.

I really enjoyed the mystery and the roller coaster ride this story took me on! There are some very dangerous people in this story, however, the goodness and kindness of Shelby and Ryan shine through.

I always enjoy Carol's books because she has a faith element to the book where one or more of the characters are searching for their faith. She weaves this in so beautifully and naturally and I enjoy seeing her characters find that God is with them.

This was a wonderful book with a thrilling story line that I enjoyed tremendously. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Dangerous Relations. This is a Baby Protector's novel. Carol always writes a great suspense and this is an excellent example of her work. This story is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.

Shelby Adair is estranged from her sister She calls her and make arrangements to have dinner with her sister to get to know her niece. When she arrives she finds police everywhere and her sister murdered. The nanny is holding little Chloe. She tries to take the baby but she's afraid of her aunt. Her uncle arrives and Chloe goes right to him. He insists he's the one who should get custody. Shelby thinks the baby's father is the one who killed her sister and insists on taking the baby with her. Then his parents threaten to take her a way from Shelby. The baby is almost kidnapped. Who can she trust?

Navy Officer Ryan McConnell came over to spend time with little Chloe. He is ashamed of his brother's lack of responsibility where Chloe is concerned. He should have married Mia a long time ago. Shelby is going to have a fight on her hands if she thinks she'll take Chloe away from him. When Chloe is almost kidnapped Ryan steps up to protect Shelby and Chloe.

A journey of struggles for these two broken souls. Both come from dysfunctional families. Can their

"little faith" grow and take them through the terror that is chasing them down. God has a plan for this little family; a plan for a future and a hope. God has a plan for you too; a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and Watch Him work in your life.

~~ "You're willing to risk your diner. What about your life?" ~~

Shelby, the middle sister, had been left to raise her younger sister Mia. Having always been the drama queen, Shelby didn't take much notice when Mia had told her that her life could be in danger. Shelby's time recently had been consumed with her Aunt Bea's diner due to Aunt Bea being sick. Now Aunt Bea has passed on and determined to be a good aunt to Chloe, Mia's 15 month old daughter, Shelby is heading to visit her. Imagine the shock she receives when upon arrival she discovers that Mia has just been murdered! Who will care for Chloe? Herself? Addy, the live-in nanny? Ryan, Chloe's uncle? Chloe's dad?

Shot at whilst leaving Mia's, why is Shelby's life suddenly in danger? Although wanting to fight Shelby for custody of Chloe, Ryan also knows he cannot leave Shelby to the mercy of a killer. Will she agree to him sleeping on her couch? Who is the hooded stranger? Who is leaving the notes? What about the bomb threat?

This suspenseful novel was a joy to read. The author weaves a clever tale, keeping the reader guessing. Of course there is also some romance involved. How will things work out?

Well-written, CLEAN book with no sex or bad language. Yes, this is a Christian novel but it is not heavy. Suitable for ALL readers as you will enjoy the plot. I was provided a copy of this book by the author. That has not influenced my review. Thanks, Liz

Shelby Adair isn’t on the best of terms with her sister, but she still doesn’t expect to arrive for a dinner invitation and find her sister dead and her apartment crawling with police. Nor does Shelby expect the brother of her sister’s useless ex to show up, trying to claim custody of her niece.

Ryan McConnell has a good relationship with his niece and wants to raise her. More than that, he doesn’t want his parents raising her—and he knows his father is prepared to fight dirty. He’ll let Shelby take Mia for now. But only because Abby, Mia’s nanny, has offered to go as well, so at least there will be someone familiar in Mia’s life.

Shelby runs her aunt’s diner in a small Washington town. Taking care of Mia is something she can do. She’s determined not to let Ryan’s parents get Mia, especially as there as something fishy about her sister’s death …

Well, this is Love Inspired Suspense. That means there is something fishy, and there is plenty of tension, especially once it becomes obvious someone is after them. But who? Why? And how is Mia’s father involved?

Dangerous Relations has all the necessary ingredients of an enjoyable romantic suspense novel—a loving and independent heroine, an ex-military hero, something that draws them together (their niece), and some outside force that’s trying to keep them apart. It’s a fast and gripping read, perfect for romantic suspense fans.

Thanks to Carol J Post for providing a free ebook for review.

Dangerous Relations starts off with a bang when Shelby Adair arrives at her sister’s apartment for dinner only to find that she has been murdered. After much disagreement about who should take the sister’s baby, the father’s brother and the child’s nanny reluctantly agree to let Shelby take her home only to have someone shoot at her as she goes to her car.

A number of suspects are revealed as the story progresses, each with legitimate reasons to want custody of Shelby’s niece Chloe and to want Shelby out of the picture. Shelby doesn’t know who to trust but the real threat may come from an unexpected source. Ample plot twists and surprises, action, and danger keep the adrenaline pumping as Chloe’s uncle Ryan and Shelby work together to protect the innocent child.

As always, the author expertly blended a riveting suspense with a sweet romance and tied it all together with a journey of faith for the leading characters. I will continue to recommend all novels by Carol J. Post.

This clean Christian suspense with some romance is about two individuals whose childhood was less than ideal, and who had to overcome many obstacles to become the individuals they are today.
Ryan McConnell’s father is a man with shady businesses who disowned his son when he chose to be a soldier. and turned his back to his father’s businesses. Shelby was the one everyone depended on, but no one appreciated.
When Shelby’s sister , Mia, is murdered and leaves her daughter without a mom, Shelby steps in , and so does Ryan He’s been acting as the little girl’s uncle since his brother is believed to be the father of the little girl.
There was never a dull moment in this story . The plot was engaging and filled with lots of suspense, whodunit, and a possible romance . But with the danger surrounding them, and both Ryan and Shelby having been hurt in the past, will they find their HEA or will fate keep them apart?
I am looking forward to reading more stories by this author.

"Dangerous Relations" is a "Baby Protectors" novel. I looked and there seems to be at least five other books in that series by several different authors, but they don't seem to be connected to each other, except the fact that they have the common theme of protecting babies/young children. From the moment that Ryan walked up and Chloe reached for him, I liked him. He was steady and reliable and protective. Shelby was also a relatable and likable character. I was kept wondering what was going to happen with the different threats and I never knew quite what to expect. I found the book to be well written with a good pace and flow. The spiritual thread was nicely added throughout the book as well. Little Chloe was an added enjoyment. I look forward to reading more books by Carol J. Post.

Hooeee ... this book was good. I always enjoy Carol Post's books -- and "Dangerous Relations" doesn't disappoint!!! (In fact, it's a hard one to read at night -- not only because it's intense at times, but because I had to keep reading and find out what happened, lol!)

I've been to North Bend (where much of the book is set) multiple times, and thought Post did a great job at bringing the town to life. Having the entire book set in Washington just made my little heart squee all the time! Ha!

Each of the characters is well developed and certainly grows (for good or ill :D) as the story progresses. I was kept guessing until the end, that's for sure; just when I thought I had things figured out, something else would happen that made me think again.

Excellent read!

Dangerous Relations by Carol J. Post is a Love Inspired Suspense novel that keeps the reader on the edge of the seat. Readers are drawn immediately into the story when diner owner, Shelby finds that her sister has been murdered--just when Shelby wanted to reconnect. Why? Who? Can the handsome Navy man, Ryan, keep her safe? And who is trying to kidnap, Chloe, Shelby's year-old niece? Can the killer be stopped before there are other deaths? This is a fast-moving story with several action-packed scenes, good dialogue, strong characters, romance and a thread of faith in a God who works in mysterious ways and loves to forgive. A captivating suspense story. I look forward to reading more of this author's works. I was given a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

I loved every minute of this book! Post took me on an adventure and I had a blast trying to guess who could possibly be after Shelby. I would have easily read a book by Post that was way longer than this one, she totally had me hooked. I enjoyed watching the characters as they got to know each other, and how first impressions can be so wrong. Ryan being a navy man, was the perfect hero. Seeing his love for his niece was so sweet, and I loved his protective side. I couldn’t possibly guess what was going to happen next, and happily hung on for the ride. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense with just the right amount of romance. I had a hard time putting this book down and know you will enjoy it just as much as I did. I received a complimentary copy of this book and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Dangerous Relations quickly grabbed my interest and held on to it through the last page. I love the well-developed main characters, Shelby and Ryan. Their 15 month old niece, Chloe, beside being a central part of the plot, is just adorable. The plot has twists and turns and moves at a fast pace. There is a perfect HEA for this story. I highly recommend this to readers of clean romantic suspense and to Christian romantic suspense readers.
