It started as nothing more than a little fun, but became so much more.
It was all fun and games until it wasn't. Lies, deceit, and jealousy threaten to tear the three of us apart. We can have it all, but that's not as easy as it sounds. Ben I never thought I'd show my best friend that side of me, but I had to take my one shot or regret it forever.
Luc It was only supposed to be one night of something I didn't understand and never wanted, but it became so much more.
Georgie They want me to choose, but I want them both. They just have to admit they want it, too.
The thing about us? We can make it work...even if we have to fight to keep it together.
**The Thing About Us is a standalone MMF Menage romance about two best friends and the woman they both want. It is intended for mature readers over 18.
Jennifer Domenico writes contemporary and erotic romances. She loves alpha males with a soft spot, flawed characters, and strong, sassy women. Her characters usually have a side of kink and aren't afraid to demand what they want. The author doesn't apologize for that. She's a sucker for a happy ending as long as it comes with a lot of heat.
She lives in Phoenix, Arizona but is a Bostonian at heart. The way to her heart can be reached with a foreign accent, a shot of Fireball, and an unlimited supply of cupcakes.
She is also known under her alter ego, Jaelyn LaStoria, author of time traveling romances, because why not. The first title is Lost Within.
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it so much! Honestly, knowing that this was a MMF book I knew I was in for a sweet time! I expected some hot scenes and not much of a plot going on. I like to keep my expectations low sometimes , but this book definitely exceeded them!
I loved the relationship of the characters, the build up to how they ended up having this unique relationship, their thoughts, their emotions and their struggles. It definitely wasn't just a sweet time, although I have to admit that the sexy scenes were S C O R C H I N G !!!
Ben, Luc and Georgie are definitely developed characters and you get to see their lives and thoughts beyond their triangle. The thing was that.. even though it was a ménage à trois, for me it felt clear that some parts in the trio were feeling more for some and it felt like someone was an extra in there. Like one of the male characters was more attracted to the female and the other towards the other male and not as much to the female. I don't know if the author did that on purpose, but that's how it felt to me and even though I liked that aspect, I couldn't be fully invested to their relationship, since I feel that there wouldn't be able to have the required balance? I don't know if I make sense, but these are my thoughts.
Definitely recommend this if you're looking to read a book of this kind!

The Thing About Us is not your ordinary ménage à trois. It's raw, emotionally charged and definitely scorching. But beyond the hotness of this book, there's the inner struggle where Luc, Ben, and Georgie needs to face and define what kind of relationship they want with each other.
I truly enjoyed this unconventional love story right from the start. Jennifer Dominico didn't just write a book that will stimulate your senses but also a heart-rending one. It was a very nice read!

Just finished The Thing About Us and WOW. ALL...THE...FEELS. Luc and Ben are business colleaugues and the best of friends. They share a warm, easy friendship and enjoy each others company both in and out of the boardroom. Then in walks Georgie, all sex and sass and upends their worlds. Jennifer Domenico brilliantly explores the depths of emotions experienced by Luc, Ben and Georgie; three people who unexpectedly find themselves in unique situation. Will their friendship withstand the challenges that come its way or will jealousy and lies bring their world crashing down. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and look forward to more from this talented author.
This book was a crazy ride of emotions and misunderstanding. It was full of jealousy and not enough communication. But it was all pulled together to make an entertaining story that did a great job of holding my interest. I felt like this story had a lot of self realizations. All three main characters had an idea of themselves in the beginning, and had to realize some truths about themselves or let go of things holding them back. Sometimes it was frustrating to the point of me wanting to shake them through my kindle. Other times I teared up with how much they were hurting. But as often happens, a lot of things could have been helped had they talked more. All three of them needed to have more conversations and a little less assumption.
All in all it was a good story that rewards the reader with a perfect ending.
SWEET BABY JESUS is what I said after reading this book! I mean Jennifer had me on such a roller coaster ride with these three I was rooting for them all the way through. I wanted them to work things out and have their HEA and what I got was so so much more and I LOVED IT!
Luc and Ben are best friends and business colleagues. They do everything together and have a great friendship that is until Georgie walks into their life and changes everything for them. See Luc and Ben both want her and she wants both of them. They are going to try and make this relationship work but you know what they say about the green monster appearing and trying to ruin everything well that happens with these guys and they are going to have to fight like hell to get what they want and to keep it.
This is an amazing story that needs to be one clicked and read like ASAP! So go on and give it a go and enjoy the roller coaster of a ride you are about to get!
Oh my God! I can’t even begin to express how much I FLOVED this book! Luc, Ben and Georgie were EVERYTHING!
“We were equals when it started, but things shifted.”
The FEELS were strong with this one! I couldn’t stop reading it. I had to know what happened next with this dynamic trio. Their story was intense. Between all the emotions, lies, confusion, betrayal and hot sex, I was worried for a second. But with mistakes, comes redemption. They grow and we see them go through ups and downs and ultimately get their happy ending.
I know I will not be forgetting this story anytime soon. I’m also really hoping that the author writes Ryan’s book because I need it in my life!
I came into this book expecting it to be sublime based on the reviews. I can definitely say that in regards to the steamy times it was definitely that. However, that is where it fell apart because I was left scratchy my head several times at the lack of fluidity in the story. The characters were all wishy washy in regards to their feelings. One moment they were all in and the next they we moving in different directions. I never got invested in them because I struggled with how flighty they were.
The beautiful thing about books is that not everyone likes the same things. I appreciate the author and her hard work. Even though I love ménage, especially mmf, this was not my favorite.
I loved taboo and unconventional story, when I first started The Thing About Us, I was expecting some hot sexy times, a little bit of angst, and lots of love, just like any typical ménage romance. I was pleasantly surprised by all the feels, emotions and depth. The story pulled on my heartstrings and it delivered so much more than my expectations.
Georgie, Luc and Ben had great chemistry together as a threesome, but they also had sparks when paired in their different variations of twosome. It is difficult to navigate a conventional relationship and it is ten times more difficult to make a polygamous relationship work without leaving someone behind. The story brought out the depth of emotions that the trio experienced through their journey. I was so emotionally invested in them and I cannot help but feel their doubt, despair and inner struggles. I, like them, wondered if the threesome will turned into a twosome. My heart was broken and I worried that someone will be left behind. Between the emotions, betrayal, confusion and self-doubt, their love for each other was the only constant. As they grow to learn to communicate with each other, their relationship blossomed.
I totally enjoyed and would highly recommend this steamy and emotional ride with the dynamic trio. This is my first read from Jennifer and it surely will not be the last.
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
- All three characters bring their own spin to the book.
- The bedroom scenes are HOT, 5 stars!
In Long
Well, where do I even start? The chemistry in this book has blown me away and left me speechless.
For me, I really believe that a book can have the most amazing story line but without the characters it's 'empty', this book is an amazing example of that ; although lets just quickly clear up what I mean by that. This book isn't 'flat' when it comes to the story line, far from, instead this book just revolves around the characters and their journey. The story line IS their journey and for that you really have to have a talent as an author to create strong, interesting and unforgettable characters. This is exactly what Jennifer has done.
Georgie is a brilliant, intriguing, conflicted character who slowly unravels throughout the book. I loved getting to know her more because she is quite a closed book in some ways so the suspense was there when it came to getting to know her.
Ben wasn't more open as such but he definitely had a lot of emotions which bubbled to the surface quicker than with Georgie. It was like constant fireworks when it came to these three and I just couldn't get enough. Luc was a strong but not indestructible which made him real and interesting.
The saucy scenes were a huge surprise, there aren't many books which are as hot and intense as these. I honestly never thought I would find a MMF book one which I would enjoy but I loved being proved wrong.
Final Thoughts
The Thing About Us is a fascinating, whirlwind of a story that just keeps giving. I was blown away going on this journey with Georgie, Ben and Luc in this fast paced book that is charged with emotion and twists from start to finish.
Quotes
''Love beat down all the demons that my family gave me and replaced them with... cupids and hearts and sh*t.'
'What started as a seed of doubt has grown into a full-sized tree, blocking my path to her.'
The Thing About Us was my first book by Jennifer Domenico and I enjoyed this unconventional menage a trois story. This novel follows Georgie, Ben and Luc as they embark on a relationship with will venture in to new territory for them all. I enjoyed seeing how this relationship blossomed between these characters, it was emotional, and steamy but the author also gave us the inner struggle the characters faced in coming to terms with their relationship and feelings. We get the fear, the confusion, the jealousy, the burgeoning love and so much more. Written in triple POV this story was an excellent introduction to this author's work and I would recommend it to all lovers of MMF romance.
This is the first time I have read anything from this author, and I was not disappointed, this book was emotional, intensely steamy, and had me glued to the pages. This is the story of Ben, Luc, and Georgie. Ben, and Luc, are best friends, and business associates. When they meet Georgie, they both want her, but can they find a way to make things work for all of them, or will feelings of jealousy, and doubt pull them apart? This book was well written, the characters have insane chemistry, and the sex scenes are explosive. I highly recommend this book, it's hot, passionate, emotional, raw, and intense.
Holy shit! This book is Hot, Hot, Hot! While most menages are MFM, Jennifer Domenico takes this MMF out of the park with so much raw emotions and connections between Ben, Luc, & Georgie. It will keep you turning the pages and dying to read more.
This books was amazing from start to finish. Georgie, Luc and Ben was 🔥. My favorite character was Luc because he tried something he never knew he would enjoy or crave. Georgie played the puppet master with the guys. She was fearless she wanted her cake and got it but at a emotional cost. Ben I just loved him very emotional man him and Luc OMG. I highly recommend this book it's very erotic, deeply emotional. Felt real like this could be your life..

Writing a satisfying romance between three individuals is difficult because it requires that four relationships be serviced. Not only must each character have a romantic arc with the other two, but there must also be an arc for all three. This book succeeded in only showing one of the four relations, the one between the two men, Luc and Ben. I bought their love, but never saw the woman in the equation, Georgie as anything more than an enabler and friend.
Luc and Ben move smoothly from friends to lovers. Their relationship encompasses consideration, passion and romance. This is sharp contrast to their relationship with Georgie which is mainly friendship. The few sex scenes the three of the share are vulgar and full of disturbing imagery with Georgie make frequent demands revolving around "tearing" and "tight assholes". If the three are together, Georgie acts like someone who is paying for the men to perform for her entertainment, issuing endless orders. Ben and Georgie have one scene together and they hang out as friends, both admitting that aren't interested in having sex with other if Luc isn't around because they both prefer him. Luc and Georgie spend more time together but it really came across as Luc's desperate attempt to avoid his attraction to Ben. This interpretation is further driven home by Ben and Luc expressing on multiple occasions on how they don't want to live as openly gay. Despite the author's best attempts it is hard to see Georgie as anything more than their beard.
There isn't really any story beyond their relationship and more time is spent by the three of them analyzing that relationship with each other then living it. Unfortunately all of this retreading of their history with each other leads to lots of continuity errors. For example Ben offered various version of his history with men ranging from just in threesomes with another woman to regularly picking up men at gay bars.
Some things that bugged me:
- Too much drinking. They never have sex or spend any time together without excessive drinking. They go to a restaurants and start with two bottles of Champagne for three people. If two of them are at home then they have two bottles of wine. Frequently they have hangovers.
- The violent sex imagery. There is a whole lot of "tearing", "choking" and"digging" when Georgie is in the equation. Sweet and gentle is reserved from when Luc and Ben are alone.
- The repeated references to gay as being a "lifestyle" and specifically one that Luc and Ben aren't interested in living. This is an offensive term. Gay is a sexual orientation, not a lifestyle. Gay people have lives just like straight people.
- Enough with the freaking "chin pinching". This isn't even a thing. The author uses this phrase so much that if I was playing a drinking game, I would have had alcohol poisoning before I made it a third of the way through the book.
- The perfunctory way in which sexual actives are described. Anal sex, vaginal double penetration, and deep throating aren't actives you can just rush into like Ben, Luc and Georgie did which probably explains why there is so much "tearing" and "choking". If the author has the slightest idea that men have this thing called a "prostate" you wouldn't know it from this book.
- A personal pet peeve: I can't stand the weird framing of sexual actives that do not include penetration of the anus or vagina by a penis as not "real sex". Does this mean Lesbians are not capable of having "real sex".
- The book dragged on too long. I was done after the first HAE. I didn't need three more of them.
This book was WILD. The Thing About Us is not like any MMF book I've ever read. It was sexy, heartbreaking and kept me guessing the whole ride. It's not a conventional menage story.
Luc and Ben are best friends and business colleagues. Their worlds get turned upside down when they both find out they are dating the same gorgeous woman Georgie. Both wanting to continue to date her they decide to go on OND DATE to have her choose which she likes more.... and of course the date ends with all three of them together sexually. 😉 They decide to keep the threesome going until things get complicated. VERY COMPLICATED. The drama was so good. Omg. Ben feeling left out had me in tears.
This was almost a six star review but then it it started to get a bit too whiny and incredibly insecure.
SPOILER BELOW 👇
I actually really liked Georgie and wanted her to get a HEA but I thought it was pretty obvious that Luc and Ben had a stronger bond and deeper love. She felt like a third wheel of the two men being insecure and not wanting to live "as a gay man". I never felt like Ben actually loved her romantically. And at some point I actually thought the two guy's were going to be the end game.
There is a saying that the course of true love never did run smooth, and that is true of this tale here. There is angst and there is personal conflict, but given both the unusual situation AND their personal histories it felt a natural part of the story.
I really liked all three main characters, though I perhaps would have liked just a little more of Georgie's 'voice'. That said, there was certainly enough from her POV to allow me to feel a connection to her character. The fact that this is written mainly from the two male's perspective is quite unusual, but totally worked for me. Luc and Ben could have easily blurred into one, but both retained their own distinct character. In fact Ben, Luc and Georgie were all very consistent, developed and likeable characters.
As a Brit I also thought the author did an excellent job of making Luc sound English. She also wrote a very engaging and captivating tale. This is a very steamy and slightly taboo story, but also an emotion filled and very heart warming one.
Ben and Luc are good friends and colleagues. Each have just started dating a smoking hot chick that they are excited to see on Wednesday.... until they both end up at the same bar.... with the same smoking hot chick. Georgie isn't interested in a committed relationship, they don't end well. However, she didn't mean to double book her Wednesday night so when Ben calls and suggested a date for the three of them so that she can decide who she prefers, Luc or Ben, she agrees.
This isn't your standard threesome story. Jennifer Domenico has taken this romance subgenre and taken it up a notch by not only incorporating a m/m component but also a highly emotional one. These are people who ever considered menage as a way of life for themselves. Jennifer explored all of the emotions one would expect from a real life menage experience; the heat factor that allows her characters to go for it despite it being taboo, the fear factor of trying something new that will leave them raw and exposed, and the confusion when they find themselves waking the next day with memories that they never expected to collect. As you read, you will feel, at turns, the characters' exhilaration, bafflement, jealousy, burgeoning love and trepidation.
Georgie, a product of a childhood watching her mother cry over an adulterous husband, has decided that permanent and, more importantly, love isn't real or meant to be. She is that woman who has settled without realizing it. Georgie's progression is difficult yet beautiful as she realizes that she can and should want more. Ben is the modern man, completely comfortable in his own skin but he, too, wants more than he thinks he can have. Ben acknowledges that he is attracted to both sexes but has always believed he would only end up with one. Seeing him struggle when what he wants clashes with his sense of fairness and friendship will bring both understanding and pull heartstrings. Luc is the wild card. The suave, worldly ladies man who never considered a man as anything than other than a friend. Luc's journey, at first seems to be the most smooth sailing but he too hits the rocks of emotions. Caught between what is tradition and what he feels, Luc's fight is allowing himself to believe.
This full sized novel has a good pace, even when, at times, the situations are heartbreaking and hard to read. Ms. Domenico pulled out all the stops giving her story and her characters depth and realism. One click for your spring break beach read but be sure to lotion up cause you will get sucked in and forget about the world around you.
This is my first book by Ms. Domenico and I absolutely LOVED it!! I’m a huge fan of ménage stories and when I saw the blurb for this one I was so excited because there’s nothing better than a perfectly written story when there’s more than two lovers involved.
Holy Moly this book is SO MUCH MORE than sex between three people. It has a deep abiding friendship that is delved into in and out of the bedroom, sexual tension and angst and everything that Ben and Luc know and love is put to the challenge when Georgie comes into their lives.
I wasn’t sure how the three of them would handle all the emotions and physicality of adding a person into their world on every level. But Ms. Domenico did such a phenomenal job of showing how difficult this can be while also letting the characters know that a deep abiding love can be felt for more than one person at a time. And as long as everyone is on board with what’s happening having two lovers can add enrichment to their lives even with all the challenges and questions from those that don’t understand their love.
Ms. Domenico has written a book that drew me in with every emotion I could possibly experience and watching this unconventional love story unfold was an experience that this reader is so glad I took the chance on a new to be author. I can’t wait to see what she’s got for us next!

I had mixed feelings about this story at first since I am one not used to stories about a relationship trio. However, once I got about ten per cent in and then wowzer...those sex scenes sucked me right in. The story was so intense and flowed perfectly; it had my attention from then on till the finish.
There was certainly a lot of emotion in this story and it was very intense with the feelings the characters had for one another. Especially with the chemistry of Luc and Georgie; Ben and Georgie; Luc and Ben and all three of them together. I loved Ben’s innocent side of never being with a man before and seeing those feelings transpire. Luc..oh..Luc his feelings for Ben and Georgie were just HOT in general. The only thing I did not care for was Georgie’s personality and her not getting to know the guys as men; well only in a sexual way.
This is my first read by Jennifer Domenico and will not be my last. The Thing About Us is read as a standalone and is written in triple POV, which made for interesting reading.
I will admit to being a closeted menage lover but it's really slim pickings to find a good, real menage story - let alone one with a story where ALL the characters are truly involved together... when you find one it's a lovely thing.
This book was one of those, it explores not just the hot and sexy times together but also the troubles, trials and emotional side to trying to make such a relationship work. We all can relate to a 2 sided relationship and how much difficulty that can be but what about a 3 sided one?? This book really delves into that question and for a while I wondered if they were even going to make it work!
I thought that the author really did a good job meting out all 3 of the main characters and their issues together. This is not just a light read for the hotness of a menage but it was worth every angsty moment for the conclusion!
Really hope to get more stories like this from this author. Recommend if you are a fan of menage romances.

This story was intense between this dynamic trio. These three dealt with lies, desperation, betrayal, hope and sexy hot love! I had a crush on Luc, but than Ben stole my heart with his tender, sensitive sweet side along with his show stopping good looks. Luc could talk to me all day with his yummy accent and he is also easy on the eyes. Georgie may be the beautiful girl who brought them all together but their mind blowing attraction to each other kept them there.
The growing pains and jealousy almost broke me as much as it did them, but the HEA brings this trio right back where they belong. And don’t get me started on Ryan, he’s an amazing friend and I need him to get his own story with his soulmate! Jennifer this story is action packed with steamy hot sex but also hard core once in a lifetime love!
As a big fan of Jennifer's other books of course it was a given I was going to buy this book. What a book it was. The story centres around 2 friends Ben & Luc and their "date" Georgie. This story is a rollercoaster ride of passion and emotion and is impossible to put down. It chewed me up and wrung me out emotionally and with every page turn I fell deeper in love. In love with the characters and in love with their story. Jennifer explored their situation with such expert precision and the raw emotion I felt reading will stay with me forever. I have never had a book stay so imprinted on my soul as this one has. Honestly I can't praise it enough. Jennifer once again you astound me with your talent. Another fntastic book from a fantastic author.
I felt so sucked in to the story and its realness! Debra @ Janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog
What a fantastic take on a story of this genre! I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t stop going wow with how this author wrote this love story.
Our characters are flawed and truly don’t ever stop being that way because the element of realness is there all the way through.
Having a two people relationship is hard enough but make it a three way dynamic and there are bound to be problems. Love is definitely the glue that can hold you together but it can never truly take away the cracks that crop up. It is how the characters deal with those cracks that can make it last.
I definitely had a few tissue moments, a few why did you do that moments and a lot of just talk to each other moments.
The chemistry was off the hook and were written very well. They were not written in a way, I wouldn’t believe.
Jennifer Domenico has a way with a tale that I want more of.
'The Thing About Us' was my first read by author Jennifer Domenico, and maybe I didn't know what to expect when I started reading. That being said this isn't my first kinky MMF read. The storyline interested me from the start and continued to hold me throughout the book. I couldn't put it down, at times, because I wanted to know what was next. It was the writing style largely that wasn't my thing, too many repeat phrases, and lowered my level of enjoyment. Some of the sex scenes were not realistic and therefore totally ruined the experience for me. I know this is fiction but there's still no reason that characters would be portrayed in kinky scenes and not have the necessary preparation.
Luc and Ben are not only best friends and business colleagues but unknown to both of them they have been dating the same woman, Georgie. Georgie is attracted to both of them and won’t choose between them and they are both attracted to her.
They decide to try a relationship between the three of them but a relationship between two people can be difficult so a relationship between three people can only be more challenging. Will they be able to find a way where they are all equal partners, or will this relationship destroy the friendship between Luc and Ben?
Full of emotion and hot chemistry this is a story you don’t want to miss.
What a wonderful and beautiful and tough love story written by Jennifer Domenico. This is a MMF story and the sexy times are hot, hot, hot and just off the charts explosive. The growth that all three characters go through during this story is what makes it so wonderful and beautiful. All three, Ben, Luc, and Georgie learn valuable lessons about themselves and each other on how to love, and love each other in a three way relationship. Be ready for an emotional but very sexy ride with these three.
This book grabbed hold of me at the get go and pulled me right along into Luc, Ben and Georgia's wake, and I Loved Every Word of It! It is so well written from each perspective and for me it is the best depiction of the complexities of maintaining a not-your-average kind of relationship. I Loved the characters and believed their actions and reactions and the way they lived their lives were true to their histories. If you're into MMF books, I highly recommend Ms Domenico's delicious narrative on the subject!
