“You pretend to be my fiancée for this wedding, and I’ll protect you from your step-brother.”
I mean, what could possibly go wrong! Until…
Well, let’s just say I wanted to say goodbye to virginity, and then I wanted to feel his hard, chiseled body, and then I wanted to be a part of his life – forever!
He’s from the military – a sexy, single dad who needs a baby sitter for his six year old.
I’ve never done this before, but there’s always a first time.
The problem… his charm steals my heart every time I look at him, his smile takes my breath away and his touch makes me beg for more.
And now, I’m starting to see a future with his daughter and him.
Please tell me we’re just playing pretend and my situation won’t change anything.
Heroine is why and deathly afraid of people. Her stepbrother is stalking and putting cameras in her apartment. Call the police, dum dum. The hero can't stand up to his parents about the false creation of a fake fiancee. They reach an agreement and have sex right away because H wants to get rid of her virginity. If she is so scared, why have sex with a stranger? Both main characters need to develop some confidence and stop being wussies. Hero doesn't sound like a military man. Please write a better story. This is a bunch of mumble jumble confusion
I hate leaving a negative review but this book was ridiculous. The story never really pick up, is like randoms thing happen, is a bit repetitive. The characters were irritating and overly dramatic, is very confusing and inconsistent, everything bad went on, this is a case went the too much is not better.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I have to for this book. I was about 30% in and wanted to quit reading it, but I don’t like leaving books unfinished, so I finished it. I feel like I’ll never get that time back. The leads in this book have sex within the first hour of meeting while both are working. The heroine, is young but honestly has a very mature attitude. The hero, is currently in the military but not in active duty. The story revolves around the two navigating his daughter and her cam easy step brother.
Why my only giving to stars: the story is disjointed. The writing needed to be edited. There were spelling errors and grammar issues. I didn’t feel as if I read a well out together book. I came away puzzled by the epilogue.
I read this book in a box set “Irresistible Desire”. The stories were good, but they need some editing done. Delannie was run away. She was a living on her own when her step brother continued to stock her. She felt threatened and decided to leave and cut off all ties with the family in hopes that he would leave her alone. But while filling in as a gardener with her bosses company, she spots him near by and runs. Runs into an elevator and saved by Eric a military man. Eric offered to help her in more ways than one. They quickly become friends. When Eric goes home, he finds his daughter alone. The babysitter left her all night and 3 hours in the morning all alone. He sends her to jail and Delannie comes to live with them and take care of his daughter. But soon her step brother finds her and causes problems. But Eric and Delannie work together as a couple to overcome to situations. But it’s gets very bad before it gets better. I wasn’t the happiest about the ending of this book. Was very depressing a left open and weird.
Dual POV. Standalone. Borrowed through KU. Gorgeous cover. Would've been 5 stars if not for all of the errors (over 56 typos, formatting issues, odd punctuation, overuse/incorrect use of hyphens, frequent incorrect use of the word "poise," and a character named Lana is swapped to Georgia). Trigger warnings: creepy, stalker step-brother; Delainne's mom passed away when she was young after suffering w/cancer; Maggie's mom died in childbirth; a car accident; an arson; a suicide; & the loss of 2 babies in the 1st trimester.
Delainne is 19 years old, naive, a virgin, and running from her stalkerish/creep of a step-brother. Eric is in the military, a single father to a 6 year old daughter named Maggie, is attending a conference in a hotel, & is on his way to his room when Delainne hustles into his elevator in a panic. They agree to an odd arrangement of protection for a fake engagement that takes some serious and dangerous turns.
This story is quite intriguing but I really wish the author had a good editor. JP
I wanted to like this so much. It had the potential to be a great and emotional book. But the writing was all over the place. The conversations were confusing and theme gaps jumped all over. It was hard to follow which character was “speaking”. There were quite a few spelling and grammatical errors. It was just not an enjoyable read. I don’t know if it was that there was too much detail in some parts and not enough in others, or that the transitions were just bad or what. For as much was going on with the characters, Delainey especially, there wasn’t enough charter development. The book would have had to be about three times as long to get the background info and transitions we needed to make it a really good book. I’m kind of upset I spent as much time reading it as I did. Thankfully, it was free w/ KU.
That’s what Eric was for Delainne from the moment they met. They also found a love that was strong and lasting, but Greg (Delainne’s crazy obsessive step-brother) can take it all away in the blink of an eye. He will stop at nothing to have Delainne for himself, but Eric and Maggie (Eric’s daughter) give Delainne a strength and love she never had before.
I really loved reading this story. The only reasons I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is latex was mentioned multiple times during every sex scene and there were many grammar errors. Otherwise I loved this book and plan to read more from this author.
This is quite a unique storyline about Delainne a 19 year old young woman on the run, and the relationship she builds with Eric, a military man and his six year old daughter Maggie. The story is filled with secrets, heartache and conflict. There were parts that had me shaking my head, and then great sweetness. Several times the story dragged on and then the story seemed rushed, especially the last few chapters. Add in a misleading title, and I didn’t feel the book was worthy of more than a 3 rating.
I liked parts of it. The other parts were a bit disjointed. It didn’t flow and didn’t completely make sense. Their relationship was quite weird at first. The way it begin and how quickly the physical happened. I feel like the emotional didn’t really develop between the two. It was just all of a sudden there. It jumped around too much. It could definitely use some work and would end up being a good story.
This was just the most unusual book and it was just ok. I almost quit this book a few times but then it would give me just enough hope that maybe it will get better. If it had been a long book, I would have definitely quit before finishing but I knew I could be done with it before too long and wanted to see how it would end.
I've been reading quite a few books by Katy Kaylee, quickly becoming a fan. Military man in the right place, younger emotionally fragile woman fated together. He's a single father so added in is his immensely intelligent & entertaining daughter. We get bits and pieces of mystery too. All together is a recipe for a great book which I recommend. Happy Reading!!!
The storyline was incoherent. It was like listening to someone talking of a strange dream. The sequences changed strangely and the thinking of the characters was strange. Very bad book.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommended highly can’t wait for the next one of the series a enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next of the series
I totally enjoyed this book! I liked it wasn't so cookie cutter. It was sweet, with a dose of suspense. Lil Maggie really added a lot of laughter. I've never read anything by this Author before, but I'll definatly be looking for more.
Ummm no...i just met you and now I'm falling into bed with you, hanging around your daughter, nope - couldn't even finish the book and I tried but it wasn't catching; the premise was nice but the execution was not there.
