Fandom: Harry Potter Relationship: Draco Malfoy/Hermione Granger -------------------------------------------------- Marriage Law Hermione and Draco are forced to marry each other for a periode of 5 years. Will it go unscathed? Romance, drama and some angst-sprinkles.
This fanfic starts some time after the battle but ignores the ending of the books. An alternative path.
It felt like a little bit darker version of Dramione marriage law story that has some interesting moments but also parts that didnt sit well with me. It felt like the first half of story was written for younger readers, while the second half focused on issues which could be directed at older readers.
I appreaciated that the author showed that the past was a big hidrance for them at the beginning and that both of them were channeled to show mostly hate only. In this point I felt that it was close to how I viewed the beginning of their potential relationship. On the other hand I didnt understand much why Draco behaved as an idiot when he wanted to turn a new page at the beginning (wanted to get to know Hermione and give a chance to their marriage) and when he asked her whether he vas a virgin. Therefore I found his following behaviour not fitting the storyline, but there was also problem with Lucius who was throwing mudblod remarks, then he was brilliant father in law and then he became crazy. It felt like he had completely different personality depending on what part of the story you read. I dont want to say that the "storyteller" would need tomature, but sometimes it felt like the characters were bipolar or schizophrenic there like they had sudden personality transplant.
I enjoyed the part when Draco and Hermione slept together and followed path to each other, I loved the part when I also appreciated that the story delt with PTSD, but unfortunately some dialogues concerning this issue felt weird. I dont want to say that they were overdramatic, but they felt kinda artificial or confusing.
The sex parts were great, but I would welcome if certain dirty talk didnt repeat word by word in every smut scene.
I felt that sometimes I needed more guidance through the words, more words describing the emotional processes, but it was the first fanfic of this author, so in this sense the author did her best.
