It thrilled me to continue the Blake Duology with Fallen Angel after reading December Knight’s Devil of Gilding. Fallen Angel picks up with the teenagers whom they kidnapped for a greater purpose, but were only subjected to beatings, starvation, and loneliness. Devil, their capture, takes them on a trip to hide them as Toby Blake’s father and uncle close in on their location. Uncle Clemit spends five years scouring among island chains through disappointments and doubt when he receives a mysterious letter from a man named Angel. The children were expected to return to Gilding. Meanwhile, Toby’s father remarries during a weak moment in his life. His marriage could be considered a mistake, but it could also give him the closure he was seeking.
Fallen Angel by December Knight concludes her Blake Duology, but I could easily see her building off one or two of her main characters. The story line is intriguing as we view the lives of many of the individuals during the same timeline. They each face their own demons, on a physical or mental level. The reader will notice that December Knight keeps the characters focused though they live in a complex web of uncertainty. Her writing style and the intense drive to find the missing children will draw you into the lives of her characters. I love how this thriller shows the faithfulness and the struggles these Christian’s face through the darkest days of their lives. You will find this novel mesmerizing. Knight’s focus on quality in her work makes her stand out. I hope to see more books from her.

Fallen Angel by December Knight is the sequel to Devil of Gilding and because of that, I will not provide a summary since it will spoil the prequel for those who may have not read the last book. Also, if you have read the last book, then you will already know what this book will be about. I had also written a review for the Devil of Gilding so you can go check it out first before considering this book if you have not read it yet.
Like I had said in my last review, this book has also led me through a mini emotional rollercoaster because there were things that made me irritated and angry. It has nothing to do with the author's fault, or at least it was not anything negative in their part. It was the characters that made me irritated. The author has a way of creating and planning events to happen so it gets the readers pulling their hairs out. One moment, you could be cooing at the actions of the characters and the next you will want to punch another character.
I have read a lot of books, but this one touched my heart very deeply. Some books are just a filler of time, and then there are those you read that just stay with you. The characters in Fallen Angel become your friends and enemies and the storyline is so deep and complex that it makes you want to keep reading. I just love the main character, Toby, who is a sweet, thoughtful, and gentle boy in Devil of Gilding, and becomes a kindhearted sacrificial young gentleman in Fallen Angel. The perseverance of the Blake family is amazing. The characters have such depth and they evolve with the plot magnificently. I would recommend this book highly and if you enjoy a rollercoaster of a read this book is for you. Bravo!
The second of the Blake Duology by December Knight, its predecessor The Devil of Gilding. This book continues the roller coaster of a read. Again, by far, not your average Christian book. It is exciting and page turning. It sometimes has you on the edge of your seat as you are cheering for one character while you are literally disgusted with others. Give it a read, you will not be disappointed.
