Sherilee Gray is a kiwi girl and lives in beautiful New Zealand with her husband and their two children. When she isn't writing sexy contemporary and paranormal romance, searching for her next alpha hero on Pinterest, or fueling her voracious book addiction, she can be found dreaming of far off places with a mug of tea in one hand and a bar of chocolate in the other.
Knight’s Absolution is the fifth book in this series by Sherilee Gray. From the start, I have been captivated by this series, by this band of brothers who risk everything to fight the demons and protect humanity. One by one I’ve watched four of these brothers find their fated mates. Now, finally, it’s Gunner’s turn.
One year ago, for only a few precious minutes, Gunner felt her, his mate. It hit him like a wrecking ball. But then poof, she was gone. He has spent every day since searching for her, for that elusive connection, his only chance at happiness, to no avail. He can feel his control, his sanity, slowly slipping away. But then it happens, he feels her again, and like a siren, he searches until he finds her, broken and near the end.
Luna has been with her captor whom she calls Sir since she was seven years old. Luna is half human, half vampire, known as a dhampir. Sir uses her for her power in his quest to gain favor with the darkest of the darkness. She dreams of ending him, but she can’t, not yet. She has met Gunner and for some reason she can’t get him out of her thoughts and dreams. In her darkest time, when she is being punished and is near death, it’s his name she calls, and he hears her.
“Gunner’s presence did something to her. Whenever he was near, she had a strange physical response. She didn’t understand it. Didn’t like it.”
As Gunner nurses Luna back to health, it was beautiful to watch her learn about a world she’d never experienced. To watch as her emotions awakened with Gunner’s help. She was both innocent and courageous. The stronger she got, the more she knew she would do anything to finally end the one who tormented her all her life. The bond is also growing stronger between she and Gunner. She doesn’t understand it, but slowly begins to accept it.
This book! I think it kept my heart pounding from the beginning to the end. There is so much more going on here than just Gunner and Luna’s story, as if that’s not enough. But I don’t want to spoil anything. This series really does need to be read in order. There will be one final book in this series, Knight’s Retribution. I will be waiting on pins and needles to see what comes next!
REVIEW My heart melted for Gunner and Luna. Luna was so kind and curious. Gunner was so patient and tender. They were a match made in heaven in every sense of the word.
Luna held so much hurt she didn’t even know she felt. The way she was so open with her affection and voiced how she felt made her so compelling as a main character. Gunner going slow and never taking advantage of Luna’s confusion and feelings made him the perfect complement to Luna.
The side-plot of Deimos advanced a little in this book, and we got a lot more information on side characters. There’s a lot of loose ends, and I’m so interested to see how they’ll be tied up in the next one.
For all my disappointments in the couple of the previous book, this one makes up for it tenfold.
OW/OM DRAMA not really OM — Luna was SAed and kept captive by the Azel, the main antagonist of this book CHEATING no THIRD ACT BREAKUP no ENDING HEA — war is still going on but couple is mated and settled
POV dual / third person ||| extra POVs from Scarlet & Tobias SPICE LEVEL 4 / 5 RATING 4.5 / 5
Luna’s character surprised me and my heart immediately went out to her. Gunner was the perfect hero and I loved that he was so protective of her. She had endured so much and his calm, patient acceptance of what she needed to heal was beautiful.
This has a lot of drama and action and reading about the knights’ fights, caused my heart to race each and every time. However, none of that affected me as much as Gunner’s reaction when Luna was in danger. Holy heck, these knights are frightfully amazing when their mates are at risk and none, more so, than Gunner.
I loved that this has a few other stories running in the background and I know the wait for their conclusion is going to kill me. While this book could be read as a stand alone, you might feel a bit lost so I recommend you read the previous books first.
Knight’s Absolution is the next Knights of Hell story and if you haven’t already started this series and you love paranormal - I’ll just ask why haven’t you started reading yet? Gunner is convinced his mate is gone....he felt her briefly and then it was as if she disappeared completely from the Earth. Now he’s having dreams constantly and he’s unsure why😢
I freaking loved this story and devoured it as quickly as I could❣️I know Sherilee has mentioned it but I’ll say it again, this follows Gunner and Luna but also another couple and definitely had me reading more quickly to find out more🤩 All I can say is I hope Sherilee is in her cave writing the next one as I know these stories are just out of this world and the next one is sure to be just as EPIC😍
I received an advanced copy and I voluntarily leave my honest review😇
4.25 stars-- KNIGHT’S ABSOLUTION is the fifth instalment in Sherilee Gray’s contemporary, adult KNIGHTS OF HELL erotic, dystopian, paranormal/fantasy romance series focusing on a group of demon hunters known as the Knights of Hell, warriors whose birth was ordained by the mating of angels and demons. This is dhampir Luna, and half-demon/half-angel Knight of Hell Gunner. KNIGHT’S ABSOLUTION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: KNIGHT’S ABSOLUTION contains scenes of graphic violence that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.
Told from third person perspective KNIGHT’S ABSOLUTION follows the building relationship between dhampir Luna, and half-demon/half-angel Knight of Hell Gunner. Since the day Chaos’s mate Grace was rescued and returned by a mysterious stranger Gunner couldn’t stop thinking about the female he believed to be his mate but something or someone was holding her hostage in Hell, and it was Luna’s pain and suffering that Gunner felt every time he went to sleep. Rescuing Luna meant Gunner’s chance at his own happily ever after but Luna’s life had been filled with torture and pain, and Gunner would have to be patient with his new found mate. What ensues is the building relationship between Gunner and Luna, and the potential fall-out as Luna’s captor comes back for his prize.
Luna has never known anything but torture and pain since the day ‘Sir’ killed her mother, and took her and her brother Ronan hostage for their power, and his control. Believing dhampir’s were emotionless and without a heart, Luna had no idea t the overwhelming feelings and emotions that were about to take over her life with the man with whom she would fall in love. Gunner is a Knight of Hell, and along with his brothers, their nightly battle with Hell’s demons now meant protecting the woman that called to his heart but Gunner would quickly learn that Luna is not without some power of her own, and our heroine is determined to take down the man that destroyed her life.
Meanwhile, we learn a little more about the fate of former Knight of Hell Tobias, and his mate Scarlett, as well as Rocco’s missing mate Kyler. ‘Sir’ has been busy amassing a collection of prisoners, prisoners he tortures for his power and pleasure.
The relationship between Gunner and Luna is one of fated mates. Luna is naïve to many things yet well versed in others but her relationship with Gunner brings on new feelings and emotions, of which she struggles to understand and accept. Gunner knows immediately that Luna is his mate but our heroine needs time to heal and accept that she is now protected by the Knights, as one of their own. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic, language and text.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Chaya and Brent (Demons Temptation #3), Chaya’s sister Mia Westbrook and her demon hunting mate Zenon (Knight’s Salvation #2), Eve and Lazarus (Knight’s Redemption #1), Chaos and Grace (Knight’s Dominion #4), Kryos, Rocco, Silas, Tobias, James, as well as Lucifer, Diemos , Luna’s brother Ronan, and their captor ‘Sir’.
KNIGHT’S ABSOLUTION is a fast paced, dark and dramatic story line. The premise is emotional and powerful; the characters are impassioned and determined; the romance is fated and sensual. Another wonderful addition to Gray’s KNIGHTS OF HELL.
Knight’s Absolution was amazing. This series keeps getting better and better. I loved it. I loved Luna and Gunner’s journey. It wasn’t easy but I loved how kind, gentle and caring Gunner was with Luna. I loved how fierce, innocent and strong Luna was. There’s angst and action mixed with hot sexy times. I love where the series is headed but I’m all so anxious about what’s coming. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. I highly recommend this.
Gunnar has been a fighter with his brothers for a long time. He longs for a mate but she was taken from him. Luna is held captive by a monster and used for her powers. Gunnar finds her and saves her but everyone is in danger from the monster that refuses to let Luna go. Another awesome read in this series.
THANK GODDD…This book was great, I loved it, I loved the characters, the story, everything. This was honestly the first book in this series completely done right. My heart broke for Luna over and over again but Gunner was exactly what she needed and their love was so amazing to read. Rocco’s story is the one I’ve been looking forward to the most after the stuff with him mate so fingers crossed. Looks like the author is finding her way now which gives me hope that I’ll like that one as much as I did this and the throneheart series. I’ve been sticking it out hoping they’d get to be as good as those but this is the first book that came close.
FMC, Luna is the purple eyed girl from previous books. Gunner felt her once, just for a while, then not since.
She's a demon vampire/human blend. She's been captive since age 7, after her captor killed their mother and abducted her and her older brother. She's been biding her time, trying to find her brother before escaping.
Once night, Gunner & bros get called to an address they've been before, empty lot. Then the block falls and it's a big house. Luna was confined in the basement, starving. Gunner let's her feed from him, immediately knows she's his mate.
She struggles with emotions, only has known transactional affection and psychological abuse.
Turns out her brother is alive- after she & Gunner mate, he steals her and cloaks them again. Finally she makes him realize their captor is the bad guy.
Their captor was an ex angel named Azul.
Her power is shielding, including invisibility.
Her brother can shield by shifting how things look to outsiders.

For months, Gunner wakes every day with screams of agony echoing through his dreams, with no idea why. It isn't until later that he learns it is Luna whose pain he has been feeling. She isn't dead as he had feared, just trapped and hidden in every way possible. Amazingly, he finally makes his way to her, only to find her mostly dead. He slowly nurses her back to health, but they face many challenges ahead of them. Not the least of which is having to wade through all the luggage from her horrific past. Their lack of communication and mutual feelings of unworthiness don't help matters any either. Just as they finally seem to be forging a meaningful relationship, Luna is stolen from Gunner again, with no clue where she's been taken. Luckily, although there is some angst to wade through, she isn't in quite as much danger as feared.
Gunner and Luna's tale is main plotline of this book, but it is far from the only one. There are other couples and individuals who are revealed in brief snippets of story that hint at much to come in the future. And, of course, there are glimpses of couples who featured predominantly in prior volumes. Apparently, there is one last volume to be had in the series, and I for one can hardly wait for the culmination of all these tales; I'm hopeful that it wraps up many of the outstanding plot points, and in a way that is more uplifting than has been much of the overarching storyline here.
I received a free eBook copy of this title from the author, and have willingly provided an honest review.
This review originally appeared on the So Few Books blog.
Gunner believes he's lost his chance at finding his mate. He briefly felt her once and then nothing. Luna is a dhampir (half vampire) being held captive. When she pushes her captor too far, she almost dies and then Gunner finally finds her.
I enjoyed this book. I liked Gunner, and I liked Luna (who was a little different from the others). Their relationship was sweet as well as steamy. There was plenty of drama going on in the background too.
There is soo much going on in this book. Not in a convoluted way either. It all fit nicely together. I have reread the series in the right order and in its entirety at this point waiting for the next book.
All the Knights have strong women. They do what they have to survive. And who knew Lucifer was such a fun guy and loves family?
omg I love this author's books everyone of them. they each get better than the last wow. I love the knights so sexy and protective.the story draws u in so well. u laugh smile cry scream wanted to stop reading when something bad happens but u have to know what happens. that's a damn great writer. on to book 6
Whenever I finish a book in this series I feel like it has surpassed the previous one. Each couple's struggle to be together involves so much suffering that it is worth the happiness you find when they are paired. Luna and Gunner were no different. Each struggle has led to greater dangers. I hope in the final fight they can win because Diemos seems to have everything going for him.
This series is truly amazing. I love these characters and worlds this writer weaves with her words just take my breath away. I made the mistake of reading this series out of order. I read the Thornheart series first and have gone back to read the Knight’s series. Everything about this book was a roller coaster ride and I loved it.
First Kyros, then Lazarus, Zenon, Chaos, and now Gunner have found their mates and won another battle against Diemos who is trying to escape Hell. Let's hope there is still time to help their brothers and defeat this evil once and for all.
This was yet another good one. I am enjoying this series so much I’m flying through these books faster than I ever thought possible. This next book is gonna be a doozie I have a feeling
3.5 stars. Read back to back so one review for all. Solid series of overprotective male supes finding their mates and saving the world. Kudos for making the women strong, both in character and powers.
This one is my favourite so far.. Gunner is so sweet with Luna. They truly are made for each other. I don't want to spoil the story, but I laughed and cried, even tensed up. Such a great story.💜💜
4.5 stars. Gunner= Swoon! Luna=Survivor. This was great. Great addition to the series. Liked the variety of demon species. Can’t wait for Rocco’s story next.
Love this series so much. Great to see Gunner find his mate. Luna is just perfect for him. Things are getting close to resolve I hope. On to the next one!
This was emotional for me and proud. Wow, this book was great and amazing to see the other females in action. Ladies !!! Please enjoy this book it worth it!!!
