Issues in Political Theory is a unique textbook that encourages students to apply the concepts they encounter to real-world politics. Featuring lucid and elegant contributions by leading thinkers (who are not generally known for textbook writing), this book allows students to interact with the subject at its sharpest point without any compromise in accessibility. In addition, each chapter includes a 2,000-word case study highlighting the theories that have been discussed. Issues in Political Theory is essential reading for all political theory students.
This is one of the best introductory texts on Political theory and the issues of contemporary times. The analysis of concepts like rights could have been better. Moreover the chapter on Global Justice, Environmentalism seems to be outdated. The best part of the book is the boxes on the primary texts and the post chapter analysis of the contemporary issues. The Coady's writing on Humanitarian Intervention seems to ignore other aspects outside just war tradition. The Book despite of its wide coverage ignores the salient aspects of Islamic and other Asian political traditions.
