I wish that I could give this story higher stars, but I was very put off by the strong slang in this one. I read Lisa's WITSEC series and loved it - there wasn't anything in there that I remember being offensive so was quite surprised when I ran into some strong offensive slang on more than one occasion. I hate to use it here, but most people don't know what I am talking about when I say strong slang so here is what I consider very offensive slang: crap, piss, friggin ..., and words like that. (Cringe).

The story itself was quite good and I plan on reading the next book in the series since this one doesn't give us closure on the suspense part of the story, although the romance does have a happy ending - which I love!

Can't call it a clean read because of the slang, but the romance is clean.

While this book completes part of a story so can be read alone, it is a cliff hanger. It leads into another book that adds to the story. The characters and the writing are very good. I did have some trouble with some of the choices the characters made. I didn't think that people with that much intelligence would make those choices. And some of the alpha type characters seemed to hang back more than I expected. Still, I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I got mixed up

With the FBI and Double Down vying for preeminence in the case, I had a hard time separating them all. But it was highly suspenseful, with kidnappings and killings--many dead bodies--there were lots of cringes. And it was a cliffhanger--the bad guy has yet to be apprehended. Bradley, his twin Rachel, and his soon-to-be bride will have to face this danger again.

wow

Again Lisa Phillips has written another series of books I’m sure I won’t be able to put down. This is the first of the series and if the rest are like this, it shouldn’t take long to get through the rest of them.

It is not hard to give give stars to this book!

Alexis is the perfect person to emulate the love of the Savior. I wouldn't want to be in the situation this close friend was in.

Overall the plot was good.Alexis had taken a fall once and being shunned by people now and it was still costing her, even though she was innocent.
When her friend Rachel a senator is kidnapped. Rachel brother Bradley home on leave. Wanting now to find her, even to giving up their inheritance. On the other side he wanted to keep Alexis safe, and clear her name.
Continues on in the next book

If you are looking for a clean suspense novel ( though just a little more cheese than I prefer) this one is not bad. There is quite a bit of repetitions of phrases but I’ll take that over being assaulted with f-bombs every other sentence. I’d say its a solid 3.5 stars. A bit more editing could tighten the story up.
This is book one of 4 in the series and it does leave you hanging somewhat at the end. At least the series is finished though.
