Axelle-Rose frequented a bar to drown her loneliness. An encounter with Silas could either be her cure or her poison.

I don’t get what it is he sees in me—what he’s told me so many times before that he wishes I could see in myself, but I almost feel genuinely loved in this moment and I know I’m wrong.

There’s something about this story that just didn’t sit right. There were enough background stories, but the characters didn’t click together. Considering her past, Axelle made irrational decisions/rationalization with a significant chunk of plot missing from their initial meet to next progress of the relationship.

This one started with a huge potential and the darkness level that appealed to me. Unfortunately, it’s too short for the characters to be properly developed that it ended up a little over the top. This story is a prequel to the Jade Riders Series coming in 2019.

I’ve only read the first book Becoming Mrs Ryan by Michelle Brown. The writing felt immature and the storytelling wasn’t cohesive. The ending made no sense and it kept alluding to a backstory that was never properly explained. I also don’t believe a pair of contacts would stop a guy from recognising his ex.

Burnt Embers

Ember has a crush on her best friends brother Ash.. It only takes a look from him and she goes weak at the knees. He’s the one.
Unfortunately he’s older than her and off to college. Ember realises he’s outta reach and she must move on.

Ash can’t think of anyone other than Ember. He must do all he can to keep Ember for himself.

I absolutely loved each word of this. Am hoping the author turns this into a much longer book... it was that good!

Can’t wait to read more from this anthology.

Well Hot Damn!!! If this love story is wrong I don't want to be right. I love a good taboo read, but this one is unlike any other I've read, but in a very good and HAF way. If thus story is any indication of the type of stories one is to expect then I definitely need to read this entire anthology. This is the first story I've read by Murphy and I am adding her to my automatic 1-click authors list. There's nothing like brotherly love. 💘

4 Stars- The writing was incredible, I was transported back to a different time and era. I didn’t connect to the characters though. It was missing a little fire as well. Great storyline though.

4.5 Stars- In the beginning it was hard to connect to the heroine. I wasn’t sure why she wanted to drown herself to forget. Towards the end we find out. It’s tragic yet uplifting. She took charge of her wants and needs to be able to move on. Beautiful story.

And things pop up like finding your true love that will last a lifetime.. I have truly never read a book by Emery LeeAnn... and never not falling in love with her work absolutely love her books....
Definitely give this girl more than five stars.. pick up this book as soon as you can you're going to love it as much as I did always looking for a new book by her this was a fast read not one to be put down..

Story 1] “BECOMING MRS. RYAN by MICHELLE BROWN” ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This started off with ow drama, then I thought it is a psychological thriller but then it started going towards something else...Lesbians

Natalia is a psycho girl who loves Luke. They broke up when he left her in high school. She is not over him and is crazily obsessed with him. Now he has a girlfriend named Isabel. Natalia takes admission in Luke and Isabel’s college and even gets room with her.
She wants Luke back. But I didn’t knew what she was doing by teasing Isabel. Getting naked in front of her or kissing her or making out with her. And on other side she was seducing and blackmailing Luke.

This is one crazy mindfuckery. The ending keeps us hanging. It’s the wtf did I just read moment.

The writing is rushed. Everything is happening too quickly.

Story 2] ABSOLUTION by MICHELLE PACE

Skipping this story. For now.

Story 3] “BLOOD BROTHERS by MURPHY WALLACE”

Again skipping this one as it is MM romance.

Story 4] MELANCHOLIA by CHLOE JANE ⭐️

This is so confusing. Axelle-Rose (Yes, the h’s name) is sad and depressed. She visits a bar every day to drink.

There she meets a guy named Silas who gives her a wonder pill to feel joy or something like that. After taking the pill she almost dies. After her recovery she goes back to Silas to confront him. The reason he gives her for giving her that pill.

“I’m sorry, okay? I really am. I gave it to you because I was pissed that you blew me off and I hadn’t even tried it on anyone yet. It’s my fuck up and I’ll own up to it if you can forgive me,”

What?
That’s it?

Then he tries to woo her to bed. She is apprehensive. There’s some past story sharing. Then they proceed to have sex. But..

This is crazy shit. The ending....well....I don’t t have any words. Axelle was sexually abused by her brother. And that’s why she is apprehensive of someone getting close to her. So what does the Silas does? He suggests they have sex while his sister, Vanessa film them.
What?
And his sister does films them having sex. And then Axelle realises..
“Silas and Vanessa share a closeness that’s so much different than the one my brother and I ever shared. They love each other and are willing to do anything to help the other one be happy for however long a moment of happiness lasts and neither of them force the other to do anything they don’t want to do.”

What?

Just so for your information there is no love here. Silas was not even interested in listening to her sob story at first. He just wanted to have sex with her.

Story 5] ENCORE by ELIZABETH CASH

Ryan is a bad rebellious kid. He likes getting kicked out of schools after school. When he lands in Grand Valley Prep, he meets his dance teacher (yes he is forced to join a dance class), Emily. He is intrigued by her.
So this is a forbidden teacher student romance. The h is obviously older and married. He talks dirty with her and she is attracted to him but doesn’t show it. Then she eventually gives in and she gives him BJ and then he just leaves. The End.

What?

By now I have got that all the stories in this book ends with ‘wtf’ reactions.

So far none of the stories have intrigued me. So I’m DNFing for now. If my friends like any of the stories then I might read them.

This is clearly not my cuppa.

I really liked this story, but I didn’t like that it was one long piece. It didn’t necessarily need chapters, but there were places where it got a bit confusing because there was not a way to differentiate what timeline of the story was happening. Other than that it was magnificently creepy and fanatical.

Absolution: It's a different time in Ireland and horses are the mode of transportation. A priest, young and fully vested in his profession, has sunk to his lowest. It's a captivating story, moving from his present actions to the past as he explains the reason for his mess. I actually felt his emotions and wanted love for him, but that was before.

This piece was so artfully written that it wouldn't have surprised me if this had happened in real life and the author was just recounting a piece of history that had been buried in the Catholic church. Disturbing, chilling, and intense.

This story takes MM to a WHOLE new level. It is definitely Taboo. I struggled with the taboo part of it. However, the author did a great job showing how the characters fought their attraction not only as gay men but also because of the other element.

Yet, another story that left me confused more than conflicted. I tried to see where this story was going and kept feeling like something bad was going to happen. The ending was not at all what I was expecting. It actually left me with a little hope.

I knew that this author would have no qualms with pushing me. I am truly at a loss of words over this twist. I shouldn't be because again, this author is KNOWN for taking things to the extreme, but I am.

I will be most definitely be on the lookout for this continuation because anti-hero is my FAVORITE and I can tell Ash is going to be a new infatuation for me. Loved that their names were ember and Ash too.

Now that I type that, it worries me a little too. I am going to tell myself that the author watches a lot of forensics because otherwise, this is one scary mind.

This novella was the reason that I bought this anthology (besides the obvious reason that I liked where the proceeds are going). Knowing that this story is the prequel to the new Jade Riders series has me giddy. This is MC at its rawest and most extreme. It is written in only the way that this author can write. She pushes the buttons, doesn't mince words and creates a story that is darkness juxtaposed with light. To say that she knocked this one out of the park would be an understatement. I cannot wait.

This can be summed up with three words: GIVE ME MORE! Ally Vance delivered a suspenseful and taboo treat that has left me begging for more. Ally excels at delivering fantastic character development even in a short piece and talk about hot. This is a story to sink into and all I can hope is that the author gives me even more.

Umm what did I just read and why did I love it so much? Nope, not even going to try and think about an answer. I would love more to this piece, there’s a story just begging to be told. It has excellent pacing and it is so deliciously dark.

Blood Brothers by Murphy Wallace
HOT. This is a definitely taboo and so scorchingly hot I’m surprised I made it through without needing a fan. I’ll note I love M/M. It can be hard to really impress me and I’ve read others in this taboo category. Nothing published in this M/M category has come close to this. Please Murphy you need to give me some more M/M.

Great job to all of the authors who really dug in and gave us so many taboo treats while supporting an important cause.

I love reading a taboo love story. The title gives you a clue on how taboo it is. But there is more to it than that... The environment ,where the characters are placed and the friends they have, drive the story as well as the unavoidable tension between the main characters- the siblings.

An addictive 5 star anthology

What a fabulous eclectic collection of dark, shocking, bittersweet and twisted short stories written by a group of wonderfully talented authors and all in a good cause.. it is impossible to review each story but whether innocent, hero, antihero or downright psychopath...within these pages lie a smorgasbord of obsessive, damaged and brutal characters, many of whom you would not wish to meet alone on a dark night...or in a crowd in the daylight for that matter.

Caim by Anna Edwards ... is intense and sad with a young innocent girl who is the victim of a corrupt and evil man, and a hardened, jaded biker who may be the only one who can truly save her..I loved this story full of secrets, lies and horrifying truths.

Burnt Embers by Ally Vance ... this is a story of dark fixation with a girl next door type who catches the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of guy... I loved the suspense and the dual point of view of the two main characters, giving a window into the hopes and dreams of one of the protagonists and the dark and compulsive desires of the other.

So in summary: this is an addictive 5 star anthology where the characters are mostly damaged, obsessive and downright strange, and the love they experience and offer is the same.... I received advanced copies of Caim and Burnt Embers from the authors.

I was super lucky and won an advance copy of Melancholia by Chloe Jane.
Axelle-rose is a very damage girl. She thinks she doesn't deserve to be happy since she was hurt when she was little. Nightmares of her past keep her awake at night. She goes to a bar to get away from her nightmares. She loves to talk to Vanessa, the bartender. Then one day she sees a guy who keeps staring at her. Axelle doesnt pay much attention to him but Vanessa decides to get them together. But this almost gets Axelle killed. After surviving her near death experience she decides to confront him. Silas turns out to be someone Axelle didn't expect or need...or so she thought....I was left wanting more of this story!! And I hope there will be more!!
I really recommend reading this anthology!! So many amazing authors and all for an amazing cause!! The stories are mind blowing!!

What an another amazing read from the Yolanda. As always she gives us a wonderful story that keep you guessing till the end, and oh what an ending!
The entire time reading this story I was so sure I knew what was coming. I did change my mind towards the end, and nope not right. Yolanda has once again given us an amazing read!

I will be one clicking this book on release day, as it benefits the Ocean Conservancy. As someone who lives at the beach its a cause close to my heart. You can support a great cause and read an fantastic story from the Queen of horror, whats better than that!

Twisted, Taboo and Tantalizing. I thought I knew what I was reading, but nope, went in a whole different direction. I love when a story makes me think and this one did just that. The love between the two characters is inseparable at all means.

Crazy girl who stops at nothing to get what she wants. Perfectly paced, thrilling story.

Absolution by Michelle Pace.
Father Henry and Eve’s story was gripping and certainly captured my attention. I so didn't want this story to end.

Blood Brothers by Murphy Wallace.
Wow! So wrong and so taboo and I shocked myself in finding it HAF! Who states who you should love and have a relationship with? Murphy leads you on a gripping tale which sizzles and has you questioning your own morals.

Melancholia by Chloe Jane.
This story threw me in different direction and left me saying WTF?

Encore by Elizabeth Cash.
This story was HOT! A different angle on the usual teacher / student scenario and I lapped it up! I so need to read more of Emily & Ryan!

Cinder & Smoke by Addison Kline.
Has the promises of a good full length story.

Keeping Secrets by Avery Reigns.
A taboo that I'd never read before and certainly didn't work out until it actually happened!

The Thief & The Liar by Yolanda Olson.
A pure genius mind-bending story where I chopped and changed my opinion on what was happening! A true Yolanda classic!

Burnt Embers by Ally Vance.
Damn I want Ash! He exuded dark and dirty, but also a tender side. His obsession with Ember was fascinating and that ending! Oh god, I need more of this story!

Indiscriminate by Emery Leann.
OMG what have I just read! A taboo that certainly had me squirming, but the story held me prisoner and I just couldn’t put it down.

Caim by Anna Edwards.
Rescuer by default, Caim saves Layla from a horrific existence and their connection was strong and clear throughout this story. Again, this is another story where I’m looking forward to reading more about the characters.

Seriously if you Can’t Handle a little Taboo (Which is Clearly IN THE TITLE), you won’t be able to handle this Awesome DARK book!
So don’t blame the Authors when your the one who clicked BUY, you should’ve known what you were getting into.

With what happened in this book, i swear there is a Mandatory Rule book to do things like this in a Gated Community.
Only enjoyed the Smexy scene, that’s pretty much it.
