If you've been following my Narbonic re-read, you remember that I said the end of book 3 is where it really hits its stride. Well, book 4 reaches those high points for pretty much the whole time! This is how I remember one of the best comic strips in history, and (despite the pop culture references) it's aged incredibly well. It manages to be a coherent, fast-moving narrative AND hit the beats of a 4-panel gag-a-day comic strip without sacrificing either part of that. The fact that it has deep, well-made characters hiding behind a zany science fantasy is just another bonus. Definitely a classic.
