Despite all the change in the world of wine, the most interesting questions remain the same; what are the factors that determine the style and quality of the wine in my glass? This book, which supports the WSET Level 3 Award Wines, seeks to answer this question. Altogether, this programme of study is designed to enable you to develop the skills to be able answer this question confidently no matter what the wine you encounter.
If you’re looking for a comprehensive book on wine and how it’s made look no further. This is a companion to the WSET 3 and is a vital compendium. There is no fluff. Just read and enjoy.
Don’t recall much of the book because I was half drunk for the entire thing, putting literature to practice. Spoiler: you won’t expect that exam question on tawny port.
If you are looking for a complete book about wine with usefull knowledge and rigourous method you've picked the right one. The map are just amazing and everything is synthesized. I think what you have left to improve your knowledge is to practice and discover new wine by tasting and verify if it match with what is in the book. I feel like I've unlocked a new understanding of the wine (and also the world by discovering a lot about geographic areas). Wine is much more complexe than I could have imagined but it's so exciting !
This is the study guide for the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. It contains the content needed to pass the Level 3 theory exam. I also took my prep course from the Napa Valley Wine Academy - I highly recommend them as an education provider and travel provider. They will also cover the Short Answer and Tasting exam prep for those portions of the L3 exam.
It does a good job of distilling the huge world of wine down to essentials. I also think it’s strongest when discussing viticulture and enology. Unfortunately the world of wine changes pretty quickly and this book has some things that are out of date since it’s already 4 years old.
