Earth Dragons #1

Dragon Guard

Rate this book
A dragon shifter series set in the same world as The Bride Hunt books

When Mountain catches the human he’s been tracking, his excitement turns instantly to shock. She’s not who he thought she would be. Not even close. She’s not even one of the females taking part in the hunt. This female is something else entirely.

He needs to get her back to his lair for questioning. His people will be interested in all she has to say. At least, that would be the logical, responsible thing to do. Only, he’s not feeling particularly logical at the moment. Not when looking into her blue eyes, or taking in her curvy body. Nope! Screw being responsible! He’s going to try and win her. The only problem is, this particular female isn’t looking for a mate. His superiors won’t be happy with his choice either, but he’s going for it anyway.

Contains hot alpha males and therefore strong sexual themes/language

When Mountain is in the middle of a Bride Hunt, he finds a beautiful female hurt who happens to not be in the hunt. Her name is Page, and she looks just like a female that is not welcomed in the Dragon territory.

Page is the twin sister of Alex whom we had in the last book. She came into dragon territory to find her sister whom she heard fell in love with a dragon. However, when her helicopter was shot down, she finds herself in the middle of nowhere. When Mountain sees her, she has to prove that she is a twin.

I enjoyed this story! Page is just as strong as her sister Alex. She deserved her happy ending also.

Loved this read!!

Mountain is one hell of a man (as the name depicts). He a force of nature. Unbeatable. Dominate. Sexy. And on the hunt for a mate....literally. The woman he catches however is unaware of the hunt and is not a willing participant. But let’s get real with a man like this she didn’t stand a chance.

Very interesting FMC, Page has spent years hiding but with her sister missing she has to come out of the shadows to help find her. Captured by her enemy she is not certain she will ever have a chance to find her sister. Mountain doesn’t make her feel fear he makes her feel safe which makes confused and oddly very turned on.

World build was amazing!!!! I am loving where this is going and I believe book 2 is going to be even better. Secondary characters are intriguing and possibly as hot as Mountain 🤩

Happy reading! DD

Ended up skimming this book. I though the world was pretty neat when I first started reading the bride hunt series. I also enjoyed seeing characters reappearing in follow on stories. I don't mind all the explicit sex but am finding myself wishing that the heroines were stronger characters, not so 'broken' and in need of a man to save them. It'd be fun to see one of this series featuring a strong, well-adjusted, and adventurous woman who just wants to be part of the Bride Hunt and be more of an equal partner. Some of the books started out this way, but the lead women characters seem to be getting weaker so are not as interesting to me.

Dragon Guard was a half-hearted attempt at an enemies-to-lovers romance, but without any true conviction form any of the characters. To make it worse, the heroine's shitty ex-boyfriend was mentioned every few paragraphs (including during EVERY SEX SCENE) which made it even more of a bore to read. By the end of the book I realised that the only thing that had actually happened in the story was that the heroine and hero banged.

I can't understand why this book has such high ratings, it's definitely not worth it. There are more interesting smutty books out there if that's what you're after - this one is like watching paint dry.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the story even as short as it was. Much more was needed to round out this book though. There seemed to be so much left off, it just abruptly ended and yes on a cliff hanger. Tends to leave me a bit frustrated when books really have no ending, like the author was tired of writing so she just ended it. I will read the next book but only because it’s KU. I would have been a bit upset if I had purchased this book then had to purchase the next just to see if this story continued any more

Dragon Guard is the first book in the Earth Dragons series, which follows The Bride Hunt series. The story revolves around dragons who meet the one and their lives are changed forever. But there are dramas along the way. That's when the fun begins.

While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer. The characters must fight to stay alive, but what they discover is even more significant than they ever imagined.

I love the strong, sexy alpha males in protective roles!

First book in the new series.
It might be worth reading the previous books in related series as characters appear from those stories and it has set the "Bride Hunt" situation up in the first series.
Plus the previous series dealt with the sister of the heroine from this book and their story as intertwine but if you are unable then there is a small catch up summary but personally I think it's better to have read them in order.
I liked that the Hero in this story is committed to finding a female and making a future with her.
The heroine is "on a break" with her now ex-fiance but everyone seems to see his motives for wanting a break except her.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Small ex-drama on the heroines side but nothing of her and her ex together.
Both are not virgins but the heroine is fairly inexperienced having only been in a long term relationship with her ex.
HEA
Events leading up to the story for the next book, with an issue raised that needs resolving.

Can’t get enough of Charlenes books , now we’re on the Earth dragons .
The ‘trainer ‘ of the dragons is out to gain a mate , little does he know the woman he’s about to claim is the twin of a suspected slayer .
Page and Mountain are meant to be together , if they can overcome their obstacles maybe it will be their future .
Wonderful and addictive reading .

wt? I love this series but..

wt? I love this series but.. well the author is skipping the most interesting parts of the stories ok so Alex & Paige are accused of being slayers and on the dragons most wanted list MOUNTAIN & BECK love them and are standing by their women
So at some point they must all return to the dragons lair to face judgment by the dragon kings are prove Alex & Paige’s innocence

But IT NEVER HAPPENED.. At least WE DID NOT GET TO READ ABOUT IT! THE AUTHOR JUST SKIPPED RIGHT OVER TOP AND GLOSSED OVER THAT PART
JUST JUMPED FROM. WELL WE GOTTA GO BACK TO DRAGONS LAIR TO PROVE YOUR INNOCENCE …

not exactly a spoiler alert

Good read

It was entertaining and I liked Page and Mountain for the most part. The story line was pretty good and it was written really well. I appreciate the good editing and really like her general writing style.
After having read quite a few of these stories though, I may be getting a little over the dragon community dick characters with the mostly or totally innocent human woman characters.

One of the most dorkiest books I’ve ever read!
I wouldn’t have been surprised if the main H got his period too!
And the intimate scenes? With its dialogue! I actually could hear porno music in the background.
No!
Just No!
Can I give negative stars?

An Earth dragon searching for his mate finds a twin mistakenly.

Mountain is desperate to find his human mate.  It is time for the selected dragons to go on "the hunt" for a female.  The females have signed up for this event.
The dragons most basic instinct is what is going through their minds.  Hunt, claim, mate.  Which brings about some hilarious things in the book.  Like Mountain.  He'll hurt any dragon that gets in his way and his first friend is the first casualty even before their King releases them to hunt.
Other dragons standing close to Mountain step away from him to be out of reach from getting hurt by him.
The hunt is on it's way and Mountain runs into Erin who is actually Page.  Page is Alex's identical twin and she is looking for her.  Alex is now a water dragon's mate.
Mountain and Page's story begins.  There is so much going on in this first book of the Earth Dragons.  Mountain is such a character.  He is massive in built and very impressive in everything he does.  He knows how to treat a woman and cherishing Page even before running her through a complete inspection because of her sister that has wanted posters for being a slayer.  Mistaken identity for her.
Page is on a hiatus from a relationship with a jerk of a guy and Mountain is trying to make her realize it.
So much drama, humor, excitement, romance, hot scenes and luscious dragons.
Enjoyed reading this book and seeing what the Earth Dragons can do.  Great characters.
Charlene Hartnady has another great book.  Written well for the reader to delve into it.
Recommend it.  Fantastic book.  I love it.

I received an ARC for a voluntary and honest review.

"Stop thinking so hard." His voice was a deep rasp. "No thinking. You need to feel."

This was a great story! Charlene Hartnady does a stunning job to weaving the story of Mountain and Page together! I absolutely loved it!

Mountain is a dragon shifter who is excited to participate in the hunt! He is ready to claim, mate a female and develop that last connection with someone! He stumbles across Page Bell, twin sister to Alex Bell a dragon slayer. At first he is convinced she is Alex but as he gets to know Page he comes to realize what a true and honest person she is and that he could easily develop feelings for her.

Page has been on the run for a long time. When she finds out that her sister has finally fled the Dragon Slayer Organization with a dragon she is determine to make contact. She flies into dragon territory where she is shot down and then is discovered after the crash by Mountain. Page tells Mountain of her desire to find her sister and tries to enlist his help!

This is a great insight into the lives of twins from both Page's and Mountain's perspectives. I am happy to see the Alex and Page's stories interlace! I have a fondness for Mountain's straight talking honesty. I think any girl would be lucky to have ended up with Mountain (lucky Page!) Charlene is on a role with giving us snippets of the next book. She left us with a bit of a cliffhanger with Dragon Betrayal and she does it to us again in Dragon Guard! Great story to lose yourself in!

I loved it!

Warning: mature sexual content, mature themes, and language.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is book one of six in The Earth Dragons series.
(Set in the same world The Chosen Series)

When Mountain catches the human he’s been tracking, his excitement turns instantly to shock. She’s not who he thought she would be, not even close, she’s not even one of the females taking part in the hunt, for this female is something else entirely. He needs to get her back to his lair for questioning, for his people will be interested in all she has to say.

At least, that would be the logical, responsible thing to do, only, he’s not feeling particularly logical at the moment. Not when looking into her blue eyes, or taking in her curvy body, screw being responsible, he’s going to try and win her. The only problem is, this particular female isn’t looking for a mate, and his superiors won’t be happy with his choice either, but he’s going for it anyway. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

The Earth Dragons, “By Claw”, what hunks!
This was the first of a new series set this time around the Earth Dragons, and this time it’s Mountain that is in the hunt in search of his mate however he finds someone totally unexpected, “The Slayer” only it’s not as it seems.
Mountain finds himself helping Page as she searches for her sister Alex and time is of the essence if she is to keep her safe from the clutches of her father and the evil slayers he is in charge of. However, trying to ensure that his own kind are able too see just how wonderful a person she is was something of a challenge, who’d have thought a difference in cup size or a “Great Rack” would be the definitive factor.
This was a wonderful read full of fun, passion, hunks and adventure along with great characters and a wonderful plot it was impossible to go wrong and Charlene Hartnady does shifters so well, I cannot wait for her next book !!!
I voluntarily received and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

These dragon shifters stories are my candy reads, I so love them.
Big badass alphas who turn all teddy bear when facing a human woman.
This one follows the plot from the last book. Page is Alex’s twin, the sister who left the slayers organization. She recreated herself, becoming someone else. But in some way, she kept herself updated about her twin whereabouts. So when she learned her sister finally turned herself against their father, she knows she must find her. It was how she get lost during a hunt on dragons territory.
Mountain is an earth dragon, and he vows that this hunt is the right one, he will catch himself a woman. Instead he finds Page, who is so alike the well known slayer Alex.
Ensue their road back to the laird, during which they get to know each other, confide about life and quickly fall for another.
Their only trial is about Page and her blindness about her ex boyfriend, as outside her past affair holding her back to fully accept Mountain, they have no real problems.
A sweet fast paced shifters romance, 4.5 stars.

DNF @57%

I couldn't connect with such a weak Leading Lady. She continues to talk about her ex even up to 57%. Her ex was a loser. Plain and simple. They were engaged and living together for 7 years and he walks out one day asks "for a break" and then dates other women and she just sits around waiting for him to come back... seriously?

Up to about 50% of the book there is a ton about Slayers and her twin sister which I know nothing about... because once again I attempted a spin off series without reading the original series like I did with the Water Dragon Series. So I am completely lost and to be honest don't care about her Sister since I have no idea who she is. Alex sounds like she can handle herself.

And it took 2 chapters for them to go back and forth about her being search for a transmitter. Good Lord just do the darn search! Anyways... this one was a miss which SUCKS since Mountain seems like my kinda Hero.

Page and Mountains story!

Dragon Guard: Earth Dragons Series: Book 1
By Charlene Hartnady
Kindle unlimited purchase
First off this is a spin-off of The Bride Hunt Series (Dragon Shifter Novels)
I didn't know this at the time I read this book. In the back, there is a list of CH's books. Now I have some reading to do. Even though I have not had the pleasure of reading the other books I was NOT lost reading this book. I think I'm going to finish this series then play backup.
Mountain is a mountain of a man, I mean his name says it all. All four tribes were assembled for the hunt. The human females were given a head start.
Erin/Page is looking for her twin sister. The last she knew she was with a dragon so she rented a helicopter and flew it into dragon territory.
Some of this book was hilarious the rest was sweet and loving. How Page and Mountain came together was very entertaining. I recommend readers over the age of 18 because of the sexual content.

Trust must be earned, dragon style

Even though this is the beginning of a new series it continues almost where the last book left off. This book is about Alex's sister, Page. I was confused at first because the first chapter was about someone named Erin, which turned out to be the cover name Page chose when she left the organization ten years ago.
Mountain finds her and though he is attracted to her he must do his best to verify that she is not a slayer. They get close but she has an ex-fiance that she is still sort-of involved with which causes complications.
I like that Mountain had a brain and was not just the all-alpha, he-man type because he was large. This book wasn't as adventurous as other books but it leads into a new story involving Mountain's brother, Obsidian. He will definitely be the all alpha, barbarian type. I can't wait!

Dragon 🐉 Guard💕

Page is shot down in her helicopter when she approaches dragon territory in search of his sister, Alex. When she is discovered by Mountain, he doesn’t trust her and doesn’t want to lead her directly to the dragons lair just in case she has some sort of tracking device. Mountain decides to get to know Page and discover if she is actually a slayer.

Page never expected to survive the helicopter being fire bombed by dragons and when she’s found by Mountain, never expected to discover Alex wasn’t in dragon territory....but that’s life. The more time Page is with Mountain, the more their attraction and chemistry start to surface.

A great fast paced read that I really enjoyed and a few surprises about the Earth dragons that came to light😍 Loved Mountain and Page and really enjoyed the ending❣️ Looking forward to Mountain’s brother Obsidian’s story....😁

Ok, this is one of my faves from all of her dragon stories. For one I love that the earth dragons are a bit more in control of there claiming instincts and can hold off and not jump the female right away.

Love Mountain, he is so sweet and kind and so lovable. He is the first of her dragons to make it to the book-boyfriend shelf.

This is the first female I've put in my girl-crush shelf from this author. I loved Page's attitude and her willingness to trust and get the job done, yet she held her integrity and her caring nature.

It was nice to see the end to Beck and Alex's story, and seeing Page get her sister back. I am still not a huge fan of theirs though. I did however like the interaction between Beck and Mountain when they met up in the human world, that was a sweet moment.

What a Mountain.... Dragon!

Holy hotness Batman! This book was amazing! It was funny, hot and brought so many questions! When can I get those answers?! Lol

Character breakdown;

Mountain: I wasn't expecting the man that I got to read about, but his intensity and his manners were freaking hot! And I loved how much he loved his twin brother!

Page: I will admit when her ex was brought up I wanted to shake her and tell her to wake the eff up! Lol but she turned out to be really amazing

Now all I want to know is... What's going to happen to those friends of Page? What will happen to Obsidian?!! This one I MUST know! He caught my attention! Great new start to the earth dragons cannot wait for the next one... That little tidbit though!!

Twinsies

While trying to find her sister Page unknowingly stumbles across Mountain during the hunt. Mountain promises to help Page but not without having some ulterior motives. He is determined to win her over. But Page might be to hung up on her loser of an ex. I really liked Mountains character. There was just something so endearing about him even though he was. A brick house and Page had this sweet innocense about her I also liked. . I'm so glad that this story tied back in with Beck and Alex. They deserved a better HEA. Major cliffhanger that left my mouth hanging wide open.

Good book

Another good read in this set of shifter books, this is the first in the Earth Dragon series another follow on from the Bride Hunt books. Mountain an Earth Dragon warrior is on the hunt looking to find a human bride he gets more than he bargained for when he finds Page whose helicopter was bought down over Dragon land and who is the twin sister of a slayer but renounced that life ten years before. The whole time they are in the wilderness their attraction grows until the only thing he wants is to mate with her but there are things that need to be sorted first. It's a good read with lots of interest and we catch up with Beck and Alex.

I read this one through the entire night and had a fantastic time. This story is sweet and romantic and Mountain is a darling in spite of appearing to be so intimidating. Page’s honesty and vulnerability is adorable and Mountain makes her realise exactly what she has been missing in her life. I’m also glad to have Beck and Alex have a happy ending. And I’m excited to see how the rebels help the dragon tribes in their endeavours against the slayers. Obsidian’s book is what I’m looking forward to next.

Earth, Lies, and Trackers

Have you ever missed a sibling so much that you would do anything to find them? Mountain is participating in a Hunt and finds himself a woman obsessed with finding her sister. Poor Erin, or is it Page, has to prove herself time and time again that she is not the Slayer. Neither of them were expecting to find kindred spirits along the way.

I recommend reading this book. I'm looking forward to reading the next one. Hartnady has given us another wonderful addition to the shifter world.
