No one is who they appear to be. Maxwell Gold appeared to be a successful straight man with a wife and loads of friends, but Max had been living a secret life. Everyone knows about it, his wife, and his boys, the only one who doesn’t realize that he’s not straight, is Maxwell Gold. The night he walks into a French restaurant and is love-sick over a young man, is the same night he’s confronted with the truth about himself, and his sham marriage to his beautiful wife. Can the love of his life Jami Caulfield who knows who he is, convince Max that love is never having to say you’re sorry when you accept yourself, and who you choose to love? Can Maxwell Gold handle all the problems that have been tossed at him when he announces to his father that he’s gay and loves a man?
High school is where most kids find out about sex and love. But some are still not sure. But almost all find greed, jealousy, hate, abuse, bullying, prejudice, cheating, and many other negatives that make it hard to survive.
When you get kicked out of your house by your parents, hurt by family, ignored by friends, and left to read with nothing, you may learn about what the world thinks of gays and strange sex partners. But it is possible to survive if you can keep the troublemakers away. But they know an easy mark and keep coming back.
I am not one to knock a new author. I also hate to DNF a book. I finished it but i really didn't want to. It had so much potential but felt like the author grabbed on to every trope and stereotype of gay lifestyles and threw it into a story that just didn't flow well. It was all over the place with non-continuity of the story! I'd hoped that at the very least the story would have a decent conclusion but alas, a cliffhanger with my having no desire to read more.
Not worth the time or money for a sequel. could have been a good book...will NEVER buy this author again...no ending, no sequel, no time for crappy ploys to sell sequels!
i enjoyed this one. i knew it was a cliffhanger so that didnt bother me... if i didnt know i probably would have been irritated but it doesnt take away from the story honestly. i really enjoyed the characters and the storyline so i am curious to see where it goes in book 2.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Max was living a life for everyone but himself. From his father to his wife, he was unhappily married thanks to his father running a high profile company. Being faithful wasn't his mayor concern. Bedding a woman daily after all the only woman he wasn't sleeping with was his wife. Going home to change for a night with the boys, he catch his wife in bed with another man now he had is way out from the marriage after all she was in his bed. Out with college friends leads Max to finding Jami. When the young twink catches him off guard for being a royal jerk and call him on. Jami doesn't want to be another guy second guessing his own sexuality in life. But Max stands up for him when his stalker ex boyfriend shows up making trouble. From there thing move quick for the two but Jami still has trust issues not wanting to be hurt again. Max has a secret that he needs to tell Jami but afraid of the outcome. Now Jami' s sly older sister comes to town. Cliffhanger ending, But I am loving this series. It'll fill you to the brim with emotions in you while reading this.
Sky McCoy's Boys With Toys is a great start to the Boys With Toys series.
I love Max and his story. He's got an ex-wife, has never been with a man before, and has spent his life in the closet. After living his life by his father's expectations, meeting Jaime causes him to follow his hearts and desires for the first time.
And, oh my, did someone say lace? I love Jaime. I love his effeminate mannerisms, his sass, and his love of lace.
Their story involves some abuse, a stalker, fear, and a whole lot of baggage. The issues with Max's father are stereotypical, but interesting and well done. He's been forced into a certain job, and a certain marriage, leaving him floundering.
Boys With Toys is a wonderful romance. Sky McCoy ends this one on a cliffhanger, leaving me excited for the rest of this series.
An interesting story about a married rich man, Max, who finally decides to stop pretending to live the straight life and to step out of the closet after finding the intriguing Jami. Of course the path to his HEA isnt going to be easy. Instead we are treated to an entertaining tale filled with drama/angst, a taste of kink, sass, jealousy, conniving characters and a budding love. Overall an entertaining read... but it ends in a cliffhanger. I need to read the next book to see what happens next.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
This needs editing and research. Calling it a lifestyle? And some of the other language used, just didn't feel very good and maybe some of that was down to the editing because some things were so unclear. Espically that scene with Noah and his husband? What the heck was going on there? Was he abusive, was it a kink thing? Unclear. The story just fell all over the place, like a very unfinished draft. And the insta love is some of the worst I've seen, two weeks of mainly just sex and they're talking love and marriage and moving in together? After they first have sex, they think they're in love and dropping everything for one another. This book just felt weird and not a good weird.

Boy With Toys, book one by Sky McCoy. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I’m going to read the next book Jami. I’ve enjoyed the characters. The storyline has been ok. Something about the story bothers me but I’m not sure exactly what it is.
I loved enjoyed Boys with Toys book 1, the characters Jami and Max were great. Though the book was a bit slow going it was intriguing enough to hold my attention until the end.
Good idea for a story... However, it desperately needs content editing & proofing. Honestly, as a content editer, I would encourage a total rewrite once edits had been made.
This book, this entire storyline is so completely problematic I don't even know where to start. I read this book half laughing half screaming at the issues and problems and all the tropes. I would hate for this to come across as "bashing" the author as I know it takes a whole lot to write a story that's in your heart and then send it out into the ether, but this book...this entire 4 book series needs serious work. Also, perhaps the author could do some research on Transgender people, kink and people in general as nothing about this worked I'm afraid.
* I have read the entire series, but will only be adding review to this one.
The plot involves a form of courtship between two men in their twenties: a scion of Wall Street banking firm and a trans waiter/coffee shop owner, set in NYC. The author sets the scenes of upper crust Manhattan with a keen eye. I'll admit to being uncomfortable at points in the tale, but it's not a sugar-coated trope much of M/M romance frequently is. The book ends at a juncture, directing to the next in this series, which I'm not sure I want to read - I'm not invested in the characters.
This is an interesting and entertaining story of 2 men, one who is married and has always claimed to be straight, and one who is trans, out and proud, looks like a twink but acts all alpha. It is definitely an interesting dynamic between Max and Jami from the moment they meet and their attraction is instant. It's a very bumpy road and this ends with no real conclusion. Guess we have to read the next one to see how they end up. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This book was all over the place, with many different plots. I think it would have flowed better had the author only stuck with a couple. There's quite a bit of angst. The sex scenes were hot. I think it definitely could have been better but I enjoyed following the characters' storyline and would read the sequel.
I really enjoyed this book but I find a lot of times they say it’s ok to cheat and in my book it’s not even if your gay ,straight,Ryan’s,bi we all have to stop this stereotype
Interesting book, I enjoy reading this book. Up and downs, good flow and great start to the a new series. One I think will be enjoyed by many. I enjoy it .
