Life on Indian Creek, in the 1950's was not easy. Hiram Sexton returns from the war in Korea, to build a life on his beloved family farm. As the only child of poor, illiterate farmers, he carried on his family heritage in the most beautiful place on earth. He faced the enemy in Korea, but the enemies he will face in his beloved mountain home are not so easily identified.
Larry's a musician, pawn broker, and novelist from around Middlesboro, Kentucky. I've bought a guitar from his pawn shop and now I've read his first novel. It's a regional story about post-World War II Appalachia. Larry's characters are interesting and relate-able, and he's plainly sprinkled some real people and places throughout. Larry's syntax and grammar stumble now and again, but it rarely detracts from the story. If you're interested in the time and place, you'll enjoy this. Even if you're not, it's a good yarn from a guy who has plainly heard a few in his time.
