But she's so much more than a temptation sent to ruin me.
More than I ever imagined.
As our secrets unravel, I vow to get to the bottom of this...
This beautiful, mysterious, and broken gift.
Because now she belongs to me.

VIOLET
I was taken, the innocent waitress they thought nobody would miss.
Then I was given to him...a cold-blooded, unforgiving hitman.
With sexy eyes and an irresistible body.

I'm barely into this and both leads have been described as being an "enigma" already. Eye roll.

Also, the main lead states (in what is truly some of the most cringe first person POV writing EVER (and that's coming from someone with some high cringe tolerance when it comes to my smut, mind you)) that he just wants to go home to his mansion and have a scotch.

And LITERALLY a page later claims he doesn't drink...

Nah, bro. The idea of continuing felt torturous. Not for me.

Well...this was boring AF. The first 90% of the book got me yawning so many times. Nothing really happens beside them having some awkward sex and a bit of thump-my-chest-gorilla-way from Andrius toward others poor, less lucky duds. The last chapter thought when things FINALLY start to unfold and the "mystery" is reveled was somewhat interesting and picked up my interest again. Not convinced yet if I should go to the next book....

This was book 1 in the "Bratva Vows" . This was a really good read Andrius is a hitman he is now in a partnership with Sergei Allyov and has been gifted with a young ‘virgin’, Violet by Allyov. Andrius knows that she is hiding something but he can't help but fall for her. I liked both of these characters Andrius is a hot sexy alpha male. As time goes on we get to see that he is more than a hired killer. Violet is young and she is still grieving the lost if her family only everything is not what she thinks and this book drops some bombs on her. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Dark and gritty mafia series!

Dark, possessive and dominant Andrius been given 'a gift' by his boss, Sergei Allyov! The gift was Violet whose main goal was to bring down Adrius' boss! Her scheme derailed and now she's in quicksand and afraid but also attracted to Andrius and he her. But both are fighting demons and seeking revenge from bad men who took out their families! Both paranoid about the other but luckily Justina is there as a buffer of sorts until Violet's past is revealed by Alesso and Damen!

Loving this series! What will happened next? Is Violet a gift or a trojan horse? Moving on to The Hit!

Great story ❤️

There are so many twists and turns in this story. The way the characters are all intertwined and connected is pure genius. And this couple came to a crashing end with this cliffhanger!
Great story ❤️

I am not even half way through and already I am struggling to keep on reading.

“I can’t get my head around the fact he reads the classics, owns a mansion … and kills people in cold blood. The man is an enigma.”

Am I the only one questioning why these small listed facts, would make a man to be an enigma?

So he is a killer, a high ranking assassin, works currently for the bratva. Has more than an adventurous past. And now besides an enigma, he is additionally paranoid? And the reason the heroine makes such a professional diagnosis is because he has high security? I would say, that comes with the territory. But what do I know?

This book is grating on my nerves.
Now we get a comparison of two women.
Which isn’t a problem in itself, if the author wouldn’t have compared clothes against bodily attributes. It is like comparing apples with pears.
One is hardened, ergo not soft. Which is described and identified by the clothes she wears. Skinny jeans, a t-shirt, biker boots with chunky heels. Right. Promising and very interesting I would say. Going on.
The other one is soft. Which is described by her “soft” bodily attributes, like soft lips, soft hair, soft tits.
That just does not make any sense, now, does it?
What if the other woman wearing those bloody “hardened” clothes has also those “soft” bodily attributes?
I guess this is another enigma the author might want to solve!!

So far I got more info on architecture and interior design than an actual plot out of this book. And I am at 27% in the book.
Concerning the plot, the heroine is already an open book, the hero, ah well, he still has one last secret hidden.
*Sigh*
This book is as thrilling as a manual.

Then I stumble over this little gem:
“Violet eyes. I wonder if that is why she was named Violet?”
Come on, please do your research about the color of the eyes of a baby before you state such idiotic things.

And those repetitions keep on coming.
We know his moral code about women and children.
We know they both find each other attractive and why it is not such a good idea.
We know he does not deal in women. Because they talk.
We know all about the Middle East.
We know, we know, we bloody hell know all of this.
The list goes on and on...

Read again and it’s still a great read. Love it!! He is still my favorite Russian😉❤️

Well darn....

Woah roller coaster city! I am still sitting here in disbelief! This definitely twisted inside itself making the whole plot very convoluted! I for once have no clue how this is going to turn out. It does leave on a cliff a very tall tall scary cliff. Lots of mob stuff and lots of bad things happening to people. Hard to sort out what everyone knows and what they are going to do with the information.

I love this story! It moves right along without lulls, has a good bit of substance, and I like the characters. I believe in the tension between Andrius and Violet. I like the dimension of adding in Justina's character. I can't wait to read the next book!
That said, there were some grammatical errors, odd sentences that seemed to have started as one thought and finished as another, etc. It took me out of the story a bit when I came across those. But, I like the story so much that it bolstered the rating! I still recommend the book due to the good story.

Cliffhanger! 3 books need to make one

I REALLY HATE when books are sold this way! Personally I prefer if necessary, just sell them in a bundle! The Trap, The Gift and The Hit are about Violet and Andrius surrounded by MOB life. The overall quality of writing through the first two books is wonderful. The intimacy scene in the later part of the Gift is well done for how inexperienced Violet is. I'd love to give these first two stories 5 stars, but they end on a cliffhanger. Once I finish The Hit we'll see if it makes that 5 level ;). The series is $3.00 at this time if you just want to get all three to save time. It REALLY is worth it so far!

Let me just say that I was super curious to start this new book. I had loved the first one and had so many questions that I needed to read it fast.
SR Jones created this amazing series and I really love a good Mafia book...
Just by reading one book and I knew I would be addicted. Her writing is that appealing and intense.
The Gift it's her latest release and it's the first book from the Bratva Vows Series. But I need to tell you something, you should read The Trap first. This book is the prequel to this series and will explain everything to you. Trust me.
This new book continues to tell Andrius and Victoria's story... Oh boy... And what a story this is...
As you know Victoria was gifted to Andrius by a Mob Boss. She had a secret agenda but everything went down the drain and now she's being held captive.
Andrius got the gift he wasn't expecting but being a Hitman he's trained to not show any emotions but...
OMG... OMG... What the hell is that? I'm stunned.
Perfect plot, super engaging, intense and surrounded by a thick cloud of darkness. Dayum... How can I talk about it without spoiling? It's not an easy task.
Like I knew this would be amazing, just by reading the prequel, I wasn't expecting this. I mean, it was a dark reading but I wasn't expecting the turn of events.
One minute I was reading one thing, thinking in one way and then bamm, all changed in a flick of a page.
Love, loss, loyalty, betrayal, is all included in this book and I can't wait for more.
And hot stuff alert. Hot, kinky, desirable stuff alert...
Yes guys more, because this book ended in a way that shook me to my core.
When SR? When will we have the next book? Please don't take long because I need answers.

This one starts off with a retelling of the ending of The Trap from Andrius' view which gives us more to go on. I definitely recommend reading The Trap before starting this one, it will give you a basis for what is really going on. Violet has lead a troubled childhood starting when her mother and sister were killed and she and her father escaped to the UK and changed their identities, so essentially her life started at age 10. However, now her father has passed away and she has his diary and knows who killed her family and she is set on revenge. That was The Trap and then she was kidnapped and given to Andrius as a Gift. Andrius was not pleased but what was he going to do. He could not refuse her, after all his boss gave her to him and if he did not accept she would be killed. Andrius does not trust her or his boss and is definitely paranoid and he is the first to admit this. There is great chemistry between them and just when we are lead to believe things are finally going to smooth out, BAM, there is another twist and WAM so many questions are left at the end. Oh, bring on book 2 NOW!

This is the first part of a duet, and is Violet and Andrius’ story. Andrius is a cold hearted enforcer for the Bratva, and Violet is handed over to him. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written dark romance which is intense, passionate, compelling, intriguing, and thrilling as well as having suspense, secrets, and twists, which all had me totally intrigued and hooked throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read the second part. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all.

Great read, love Andrius, his gift is a might unusual but Violet is perfect for him.
Small, nervous and scared of her own shadow, this woman takes on a killer, an assassin, an alpha in the underworld and attempts to bring him to heel.

OH MY GOD

This book is insane! I devoured it and hated that I reached the last page and now I have to wait a month before I can read the sequel! I am desperate to learn the conclusion of this crazy, fascinating tale that yes, just like the prequel, had another twist I totally did not see coming!

It’s an interesting and solid romance, I like the way the story goes but there are some length in between that when I have to take a break from reading it doesn’t pull me back to continue immediately. Maybe it takes some speed up in the last book.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good story and readable.

If you have read the free prequel, The Trap, then you already have been introduced to Andrius and Violet. This book picks up right where they left off with Violet being given to Andrius. Andrius works for the Russian Mafia’s Boss. He is a ruthless killer but one little petite women, named Violet could change the world he knows. She has an agenda but keeping it hidden might be more than Violet is capable of. When she is taken and given as a gift to Andrius, can she use him to get what she wants or will she start to actually care for him. Both are keeping secrets from each other that could be deadly. This was a great start to the series and cannot wait for book two as this ends in a cliffhanger. Told in dual POV

I need the next book now! Couldn't stop reading this!! Violet and Andrius find themselves in a predicament. Both holding secrets but wanting each other. Justina is like a sister to Andrius and will do anything for him, she's got his back.

Violet and Andrius have to watch everything that they say and do when around other people. Behind closed doors is a totally different thing. Can they be what each other need after finding out the secrets that they both hold. When the cold start reality comes out what will Andrius do, what will Violet do? What happens??? I NEED to know!!!!

The Gift: Bratva Vows - Book One

Violet has been gifted to Andrius by his Bratva boss Sergei Allyov; although Andrius wasn’t expecting this he is going to figure out a way to keep Violet safe from Allyov. Violet on the other hand isn’t going to make that easy, she hasn’t until now realized that the plan she had would never have worked. She did not have a plan for escaping Andrius though.

Andrius, who has felt drawn to Violet has a code of honor and he is going to try honoring that code, never hurt women or children, but as his attraction to Violet grows will he be able to stick to his personal code.

Through all of book two the reader can see the indecision that face both Violet and Andrius and on top of all that has been going on Violet’s secrets are about to be discovered and Andrius will have to face his past.

S.R. Jones has navigated the reader through a lot of emotional laundry for both Violet and Andrius. Will their backgrounds kill their relationship? Can their feelings both emotional and physical destroy their ability to move forward? We will find out in book three. Again, I have to give kudos to S. R. Jones and her team from matching the cover hero to the book hero, Andrius uses his fists and you see this on the cover, it looks like Andrius’ knuckles after hitting the wall. Very impressed!

I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Violet: Taken Kidnapped. The innocent waitress nobody would miss, nobody would care about. Given to him; A cold-blooded, unforgiving hitman. With sexy eyes and an irresistible body. But he doesn't know who I am, or what secrets I hide.
Andrius: A gift-mine! To own, to keep. To do with as I please. But she's so much more. More than I ever imagined. And I vow to get to the bottom of this...This beautiful, mysterious, and broken gift. Because now she belongs to me.

The Gift is the first book in the Bratva Vows. This is a dark romance and may have triggers for some. I love a book that is told from two points of view and the gift is told from Violet and Adnrius's points of view. This book grabbed me from the very first chapters. There are so many secrets and plans and things you just are not going to be able to figure out. I love when a book keeps me on my toes. The ending is going to have you wanting the second book the minute you finish this one. I know that my review is vague but I don't want to give anything away about this book. Just know that your going to love these characters and the chemistry between them. I can not wait to have the second book in my hands.

Andrius is a cold-hearted enforcer for the Russian mob with a strict code of no harm to women or children. He also has a hidden agenda he’s determined to carry out for which his code does not apply. When his current boss hands him a gift of Violet, an innocent (or so she seems), Andrius knows that she may just be the wrench in his plans. Can she be trusted and what is it she’s hiding? Violet has her own secrets, which if known could cost her life, but as much as she fears Andrius, she also unwillingly desires him. Together their chemistry is too hot to ignore, but when Violet’s past and secrets are revealed, will it be the end she imagines or something much more?

This is an intense and compelling dark romance. Be forewarned, this is an addictive start to Andrius and Violet’s story, but it’s not the end – yet. This storyline contains strong and passionate twists and turns which will keep you enthralled from beginning to end. You’ll become engrossed in this dark tale of Andrius and Violet and be impatient for the end yet to come. I highly recommend this intriguing and gripping start to what I expect will be a powerful duet. I am anxiously awaiting the end of the story.

I read the prequel first and although you don’t have to I think it’s helpful to give background information, on Violet especially.

Andrius is a hired enforcer/killer for the Russian mob boss Sergei Allyov. Feeling generous, perhaps, Allyov gifts him a plaything-Violet.

Gradually we see more and more of Andrius’ background and family history, the reasons why he is like is and does what he does. He is very handsome but he’s also intimidating as well. Violet is still young and grieving but even through all of that she can still be honest with herself, I really like that about her character.

There are some very good expressions, phrases and descriptions in the story. For example when Andrius, Violet and Justina are in the car driving back from the club and this is delivered by Justina..”The sexual tension between you is ridiculous. I think I might be pregnant from it..” 😆 Too funny and so true!

There are twists that take you by surprise and shake things up making it an exciting ending. Bring on book 3!

Andrius has replaced every book boyfriend that I have ever had. Sorry Violet, you have to share. :)

For reals though, the ending of this book made me cry. Actual tears coming out of my eyes. Not like most other books, where I have tears in my eyes, but they never fall. Oh no, The Gift made me cry and the only reason I think I didn't start sobbing, was because I knew Andrius and Violet would have their HEA (it is a romance after all. Also, I read the Mafia Vows first in which Andrius and Violet make appearances).

Now to get to the actual story. The Gift takes place almost immediately where The Trap leaves off. Violet is given to Andrius as a gift and Andrius has no idea why. Is Violet a spy for Allyov? Is she working for the police? He has no idea. But he's drawn to her that's for dang sure. And poor little Violet is caught in a trap of her own making. But of course she too feels the pull to hottie Andrius.
And the ending......TEARS! Thank god I was able to jump into the next book immediately.

I recommend reading the prequel before jumping into this book, as it shows what happened to join Andrius and Violet together, from her point of view. This books picks up at the end of the prequel, from Andrius's point of view. I liked that this book alternates between the pair as it lets readers understand what both characters are thinking and feeling.

In the prequel we learned that Violet had been on a quest for vengeance, but in this book we learn that Andrius is looking for vengeance himself. Violet sees that there is more to him than being a killer, and he shows her a side to himself that very few people get to see. I liked them together.

The twist at the end of the book is not something I saw coming. It left me feeling for both Violet and Andrius for different reasons. I can't wait to see how this is resolved in the next book.
