A genuinely funny original paperback from the seventies and the crowd over at Mad Magazine. Surprisingly, most of the gags in the book are still relevant today, given the base nature of the advertising business (and the fact that most of the principles have been around for a long time).

Bob Clarke provides the artwork. He was never one of the top tier Mad artists for me, but his work is very serviceable.

I read this book as a kid, and it helped me to think critical about all advertising. The techniques have changed a little bit over the years, but not too much.

No a days I really feel the under belly adgenda of these advertising and I feel it comes back to this book.

I think all of my kids have read this book, I know my 11 year old has read it and he brings up questions about anyone trying to sell anything. I am glad I kept that book around.

Probably the book that introduced to me as a teenager the concept of an extremely cynical view! Read it many times when I was young, thought it funny each time and took the lessons to heart. A very funny yet sadly true book, and one of my best MAD paperbacks. Still a good read even today. the art by Bob Clarke works extremely well to compliment the message.

Very influential to me as a kid. Instilled a healthy skepticism into my young mind.
