Wer kann sich vorstellen, wie es vor zweihunderttausend Jahren in Afrika war? Der englische Autor Peter Dickinson hat sich in Die Kinder des Mondfalken auf eine Zeitreise in die Vergangenheit begeben.

Suth und Noli, Kinder vom Stamme des Mondfalken, trennen sich von ihrer Gemeinschaft und machen sich mit vier jüngeren Mitgliedern des Clans auf den unbekannten Weg durch die Wüste. Dem Mädchen Noli ist im Traum ein Mondfalke erschienen und hat sie vor großen bevorstehenden Gefahren gewarnt. Schon einmal, als sie von einer räuberischen Horde überfallen wurden, die ihre Eltern tötete, hatte niemand auf die vorherige Warnung Nolis gehört.

Es ist ein gefahrvoller und abenteuerlicher Weg, auf den sich die sechs Kinder begeben. Sie kämpfen täglich ums Überlebenf und sind ständig mit Nahrungs- und Wassersuche beschäftigt, bis sie eines Tages auf Menschen eines fremden Stammes treffen.

Peter Dickinson hat das Kunststück fertiggebracht, in der einfachen Sprache der Urzeitmenschen zu schreiben, ohne stilistisch abzufallen. Äußerst plastisch und vor allem sehr gut vorstellbar erzählt er von ihrem Alltag, ihren Gebärden, den Ritualen und Gefahren, denen sie ausgesetzt sind.

About the author

Peter Dickinson was an English author and poet widely respected for his children's fiction, detective novels, and imaginative speculative writing. Raised partly in southern Africa before continuing his education in England, he developed an early fascination with adventure stories and classic literature, influences that later shaped his narrative style. He attended Eton College and later studied at King's College, Cambridge, before beginning a long association with the magazine Punch, where he worked for many years as assistant editor, reviewer, and resident poet. Dickinson eventually left journalism to pursue writing full time, publishing works for both adult and younger audiences. His crime novels featuring detective James Pibble earned critical praise, while his fiction for children established him as one of Britain's most distinguished authors in the field. Over the course of his career he produced nearly fifty books that combined historical imagination, fantasy, and thoughtful reflections on human behavior. He achieved rare distinction by winning the Carnegie Medal twice, for Tulku and City of Gold, recognition that placed him among the most celebrated children's writers in Britain. Dickinson also received numerous other literary honors and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. In addition to fiction, he wrote poetry and essays, and his work continued to influence generations of readers and writers in the field of children's literature.

Pueees... me ha entretenido bastante.

Leo a gente quejándose en las reseñas de que no está bien ambientado y de que comete errores de bulto. Y eso me importa un pepino, a mí lo que me importa es que la historia me enganche y más si se trata de una historia juvenil.
Yo me lo he pasado pipa con las historias de estos crios, las leyendas y demás.
Es un libro corto que se lee muy rápido y sí, me han quedado ganas de leer la segunda parte. Me encantó el personaje de Tinu, les daba sopas con honda a todos los demás, anda que no era lista y apañá la chiquilla jajajaj

En fin, 4 estrellas sobre 5 porque me lo he pasado bien leyéndolo.

Aunque al principio me costó un poco engancharme (como de costumbre, ¡¡cómo odio los principios!!), la historia está bastante bien, el viaje de los hombres prehistóricos en busca de Lugares Buenos, y todas las aventuras y desventuras que encuentran por el camino fueron bastante interesante. Además, al contrario que en otros libros, no está tan "modernizado" sabe mantener la esencia de los seres antiguos con sus leyendas, sus utensilios y los distintos modos de hablar.

Y me gustó cómo está estructurado: capítulo y leyenda, primero los capítulos según Suth (niño, cazador) y las leyendas sobre los Primeros y luego los capítulos según Noli (niña vidente o a la que vienen los Primeros) intercalados con la leyenda de Sol. Como además cada parte de la leyenda va a aparecer en el capítulo posterior a ella, un buen modo de entretejer una historia.

Ahora que sé que tiene segunda parte, voy a ver cómo me las ingenio para conseguirla, porque me gusta muy poco dejar las historias a medias. Aunque el final es "bastante" cerrado.

Me encantó el libro. Nunca había leído ningún libro de la prehistoria y me pareció muy interesante. Sufrí mucho con las aventuras de estos niños.

Cuenta la historia de un grupo de niños que se han separado de su tribu, ambientada en el África prehistórica hace 200.000 años. Novela infanto-juvenil, no está bien ambientada y comete errores de bulto.
