The Queen's Protectors

Rate this book
One exiled Queen. Three sworn Protectors. A river of blood and vengeance.

Living in exile since birth, Violet Sinclaire should never have been born. She is a half blood descendent of royalty and her existence was forbidden by the ancient immortals long ago. Now the royals want her dead.

As the One True Queen of the Shadow World, Violet has sworn to take back her throne and avenge her mother’s murder at any cost. First, she must choose her warriors, for they are her shields in battle; the armor that will keep her safe from the royal assassins. Determined that a half-breed will never own the throne, the royals have called for her blood. Little do they know that Violet has blood cravings of her own, and she’s coming for them.

A Throne of Blood is a reverse harem fantasy romance series and Mistress Violet is a Queen to be reckoned with. This series contains graphic scenes of BDSM as well as MF, MFM, and MM+. This book might not be your cup of tea, but you have been warned. Enter at your own risk.

Oh, the AGONY.

If you like that Queen Takes Knight series shit don’t read this review, or hell, do read.
If you didn’t like that series, here. we. go.

The difference between Queen Takes Knight and this piece of shit is that at least the other piece of shit was a better written book and made me want to read a few more books into the series before I stopped.

With this book, I will definitely not be delving into book 2.

Violet: the transition between “MUST AVENGE MOMMY” to “oh I’m a queen, these are protectors, what?” to “you MUST call me QUEEN” was.. comical at best. Bitch took less than .00025 seconds to get right up and cozy into that role.
Ronan: probably more interesting than Violet.
Kaleo: definitely the most interesting.
Elliot: THIS IS WHERE WE GO WRONG. He’s like... an eighteen year old valley girl in the body of a skittish 24 year old “man.” WHO DID THIS. Stop it. Go back ten spaces. Do not pass Go.

The sex:the only interesting part of this book, and even then it was overdone.
The blood: please let’s stop making dripping everyone’s blood on each other’s groins a thing. Go get a full STD panel, please. Next.
The plot: really, my office stapler could have written a better plot than this. I saw the cookie cutter from a mile way. No, I’m not gonna preheat the oven.

The worst part is that there was NO DEPTH.
ZERO sincerity
ZERO emotion
ZERO DOWN!
^^ that’s from a car commercial, isn’t it?
Never mind.

I’m honestly more interested in the relationship between the men than Violet being in the mix.

Alright, I think I’ve said enough.
It’s a hard pass, no, hell no, definitely not, NO.

Wow… this review is not going to be pretty, sophisticated or even good – much like the book I just read!! Get ready for my review rant! This book reads much like a work of poorly written fanfiction, to the amazing THEIR VAMPIRE QUEEN. The similarities are many, the uniqueness are few – and the good parts are even less. The characters are poorly made, they read like robots who are following a script, without having any depth or growth to them.

Let’s have a look at how much queen Violet and her world is “inspired” (I think it’s nice of me to use inspired instead of pointing out how much of a clear rip off this is) by Shara, the last daughter of Isis:

🌺 Violet’s mother sends her away to protect her – just like Shara’s real mother does.
🌺 Violet’s alpha is named Ronan – Shara’s is called Rick.
🌺 Violet feels a pull to her protectors – Shara feels a pull to her Blood.
🌺 Violet’s protectors contains of both vampires and shifters – Shara’s Blood are vampires, who can shift once they’ve had her blood.
🌺 Violet is in danger from people who don’t want her to take her rightful place of power – same goes for Shara.
🌺When having sex Violet and her protectors use their blood as lube – same with Shara and her men.
🌺 There’s MM aspects between the protectors – there’s MM aspects between the Blood.
🌺 Violet receives a box from her mother, which contains secrets about her heritage. The box can only be opened by spilling her blood onto it – Shara receives a box, which her mother had before her, with secrets about her heritage. The box can only be opened by spilling her blood onto it.
🌺 Violet can get into her protectors, and others’, heads and poke around in their memories – Shara has the same abilities.
🌺 Violet’s birth and the fact that she’s exists is a secret that her mother died protecting – Shara’s existence is a secret, even she doesn’t know what she is.

This is just the major ones, if I really wanted to, I could probably make a top 100.

After finishing this book I found out, that quite a few readers have brought it to the attention of Joely Sue Burkhart. Who came up with a very dignified answer and explained that it isn’t plagiarism or a rip off. Maybe it isn’t, according to the law, but her response doesn’t change my own opinion on the matter!! I standby my fanfiction comment, and I would have appreciated a heads up of what made the authors creative juices flow.

But enough about that!!

Even with that ugliness aside, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this story!! The writing felt flat, amateurish and the BDSM aspect were a joke. Sure, Violet punishes one of her protectors by denying him an orgasm, there’s hints of her being a DOM and various escapades she’s had with her alpha earlier on. But nothing really happens. Its like everything is told, but nothing is experienced. The reader isn’t brought along for most of the things, its explained later on. Like when she’s attacked and later on “oh I was scared back then” – whereas in the moment it just feels like a mild annoyance.

The conversations feel forced, the personalities are a let down and the world building is pretty much non-existent. For an alpha vampire, Ronan probably takes the price for being the most dull I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading about. He’s so boring I don’t even know why anyone would keep him around. Actually all three of Violet’s protectors are boring. They’re like mindless drones, who’s only thought is to please their queen. YAWN. If it wasn’t for their names, there really isn’t any difference between the three.

I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series, unless I find myself out of things to read. Which I sincerely hope won’t happen, because I don’t wish to spend another minute with queen Violet and her harem!!

Scarlett Snow’s debut reverse harem story - The Queen’s Protectors is brilliant. The characters are raw, dominant, intense, and addictive. You will be sucked right into Violet’s story with her men Ronan, Kaleo and Elliot.

The concept of reverse harem has been explored with BDSM, mf, mm, mmf and mmmf where all parties are participating with each other - there’s no shy guys in this story. This is also a refreshing take on this genre.

The story has been created so you’ve been introduced to the characters, their personalities and the world they are in early on in the series, which hopefully continues to build even more in the following books.

I highly recommend the first book in the A Throne of Blood series, and can’t wait to read more about Violet.

There’s also a little bonus at the end of the book with the first chapter for Saphyre, which Scarlett Snow has co-written with Loxley Savage.

Note: there are some triggers in this story, which are noted in the description.

Violet is a terrible main protagonist. Her personality seems to consist of "come and screw me now" all the damn time. Like seriously, she has no depth. First she wants everyone to call her Violet, then snap changes her mind and everyone must call her "Your magisty". The other characters pretty much sucked. And the book ends in the middle of a scene, I mean what on earth?
Unfortunately I have to say, don't bother reading this book, it isn't worth it.

The Queen's Protectors was my first encounter with Scarlett Snow's storytelling. I liked the concept of the story, the author was able to give a twist to the whole vampire-shifter world and made it more interesting. Beside being interesting the story also was utterly steamy and sexy. I loved the attitude with wich the characters accepted their carnal needs without shame and embraced their shared fate. The story ended in a cliffanger but after all what happened in this book I'm sure these great characters have a lot to happen to them in future instalments. There still is a throne to fight for after all.

It was also the first time I listened to Ashley Taylor's narration. I liked it. I liked how she used very well distinguishable voices for the characters, all of wich fit perfectly to their different personalities.

Overall Rating ★★★★
Plot ★★★
Humor ★★★
Characters & Character Development ★★★★
Narration ★★★★

Characters: Violet, Ronan, Kaleo, Elliot

Story: This was a good story. But, it was way too similar to another book that I've read before. The title, the plot, characters, etc. Also, female dominants aren't really my thing. A good first book of a series. I liked the guys and Violet was a good main character.

Narration: Ashley Taylor - She was new to me. The narration was pretty good.

There wasn’t anything about this book that I didn’t love. It was amazing start to finish! The characters were unique. The plot was intriguing. And the sex scenes! Holy hell! Soooo hot! Needed so much more!
If you love Reverse Harem with a splash of M/M then this book is for you! Loved every word!

ARC provided by the author for an honest review.

I've done a few ARCs for Snow by now and I always start them off by raving about world building and how I can see the scenes played out. That hasn't changed at all. Scarlett still has a way about making her world unfold out for us and I love it.

The Queen's Protectors follow Violet and her band of merry men Ronan, Kaleo and Elliot on their quest to avenge Violet's mother's death and to reclaim Violet's throne as she is the One True Queen.

I'm not going to lie, I found myself a bit confused about the whole One True Queen issue. I don't know if I read over it or if it's never really revealed. I believe from what I pieced together, that there is a King/Queen of the Shadow world (shifters and vamps) with royal families. Violet's mother, I believe, was a royal vampire who slept with/loved (?) the shifter King and boom then there's Violet. I fully expect this to be resolved in the second book though, since Scarlett is big about establishing characters in the first books of her stories.

Ronan: Her "alpha" protector is in love with Violet but for all purposes seems indifferent to her until it's time to feed or have sex. It's also established early on that he knows who Violet is and what her destiny is. I was hoping for a great moment of betrayal that ends in a broken trust but it's instead handled by a lawyer revealing the grand secret and sex between Ronan and his Queen. I never feel like I get to know Ronan, which makes him my least favorite.

Kaleo: Is picked up next and is a shifter who worked for Violet's mother despite prejudice between the Vampire and Shifter races. Kaleo is so happy to be with Violet, who he's known about for years he gladly sets aside everything to be with her. Kaleo is interesting because we find out more of his story. Violet not so much, because I think they have maybe one conversation about Kaleo's past. He is very needy and loves having Violet to himself, which I'm hoping causes some issues later one!

Elliot: Everyone loves Elliot and I'm the same. We arguably find out the most out the "little puppy" who has the saddest (I think anyway) backstory of them all. BTW, kinda graphic description of child abuse, y'all prepare yourself, I was not. He's the omega son of his pack's Alpha who left the pack life for freedom. He gladly submits to Ronan and Kaleo. I'm actually hoping to see Elliot and Kaleo form a deeper relationship since it seems Kaleo likes him more than Ronan due to Elliot's shifter status.

Ok big confession time: I didn't care for Violet at all. At times I thought I could but then she would do something so conflicting with the character Scarlett is trying to present. Violet is a Domme who just wants to avenge her mother's death (at least 5 mentions from just Violet alone about that BTW). She jumps between don't treat me different to demanding Elliot shift back because she's his queen. She claims to not want to dress fancy and loves pjs but nearly every description of her she's dressed up? She seems perfectly fine with everyone in her world knowing who she is before her and at points in the book even states avenging her mother's death is her priority. Characters are suppose to be complex and you want to see the bad-ass have a soft side, but Violet doesn't feel cohesive to me at all. I'm hoping with the trails ahead of her we get to see her come together more fluidly.

My main compliant with this novel is actually two things. I'm not really a big mf romance fan and I don't really read a lot of reverse harem books. So, one of my main compliant is there is never enough talking between Violet and her three men(I don't know if this is because it's reverse harem). The good thing is the switching POVs so we are able to find clues to each of the protectors past but, even then it's like every emotion is dealt with sex.

And lastly, my main problem, what the heck happened in the underwater shifter territory?! Scarlett gives us a couple pages of an Atlantis type place and Violet can't remember what happened! In fact, Violet is literally, "That's a problem for tomorrow Violet." Which leaves me, the reader, like well damn cut the kitchen sex scene and tell me about THAT. And, the protectors traumatized but hey! KITCHEN SEX!

Reading over this review I sound very critical and I hope I do because Katze/Scarlett is great at creating worlds and characters that draw you in and make you think. I want this series to be great, it has good bones with the exciting plot that's hinted at (Atlantis type place PLEASE), the characters are all set up to have interesting struggles with each other and themselves due to their pasts and as someone who DOES NOT read mf the abundant (OH MY GOD YOU GUYS, JUST TALK!!) sex scenes are very hot!

All in all this is a high 3 star book that's a great start to what is going to be an interesting story!

I want half stars!!!!!!!!!!!

The Queen's Protectors is the series starter in a fresh world of vampires and shifters. Violet has grown up with the royal treatment- a lifelong bodyguard, lavish homes and clothes, and any opportunity she could really want.

Little did she realize that her lifestyle isn't the only royal thing about her. When her mother dies in a bloody (literally) puzzling way, Violet is thrust into danger- her lineage is revealed, and as a true Queen she must figure out who killed her mother, why, and how she'll bring her subjects to recognize her and kneel.

Violet is likable so far, and I think her reader appeal is just going to grow as the series continues on. She's got a great resilience even though she's been thrown into a sh*tshow where she finds a new mystery every time she turns around. There's a dominating side to her, and personally, I like seeing her take charge of these men who are meant for her.

Getting her (and our) blood pumping along with the way are her collection of protectors: Ronan, the vampire who's watched her grow up and into a woman he'd die for; Kaleo, the shifter who's waited decades to meet her and to be truly owned by his queen; and Elliot, the spirited but also a bit broken shifter who's the youngest of the group and the one who never thought he'd embrace his protector destiny.

Relationship development is the real area that made me waver and wind up going with four stars. Right now, there's this whole "fated protector" aspect going on WHICH IS TOTALLY FINE. But I really wanted to see more than that (though I might just be a greedy b*tch). On the complete bright side, Snow has made sure that Violet and her men aren't just running from danger and having s*x (though the s*xy times are quite delightful, mind you)- there are clear mentions that Violet wants to get to know her guys more.

So, while there's this mystical component that initially draws them together (especially Kaleo and Elliot who weren't besides Violet her entire life), I think these relationships are going to really solidify into something with a strong base once they get more page time to dive into each other's stories.

Overall, The Queen's Protectors was a delightful read, and I'm definitely going to come back for more. As far as warnings go, this is not the book for you if you're turned off by a little dominance, some bdsm, or m/m. None of those bother me; in fact, I can quite enjoy them, so this was perfect for me. One of the aspects I liked most is that Violet takes the time to make sure that her men are open to and consenting to what they do with their bodies. Sometimes it can feel like stories just skip over that step in a rush to get to the finish line, but Snow including that part made everything feel all that more secure and wanted and intimate.

Highly encourage others to give The Queen's Protectors a try!!!

Question: What’s the difference between this book and POORLY written fan fiction of Queen Takes Knights (Their Vampire Queen Book 1)?

Answer: Queen Takes Knights has a hell of a lot less spelling errors, grammar mistakes, and plot holes.

I made an account specifically to show my legitimate disappointment and frustration with this book. I’ve never read anything else from this author. (One Miss Snow. I believe she ran into some similar trouble under another name of Katze, so she jumped ship and is now Scarlett. I’m normally not this angry in my book reviews, but the more I read of this literal dog vomit the more upset and frustrated and unkind I’ve become).

I found this book while looking for new RH that has supernatural elements. I found Queen Takes Knights, read all of those books, and this came up in the list of other recommended works. I wish I could sue Miss Snow for wasting my time, and wish the author of QTK (Queen Takes Knights), who’s name is Joely Burkhart, could sue for a stolen book plot.

First of all, it seems that Miss Snow has never used spellcheck, hired an editor, or even READ her own book. Peoples eye color changes, their personalities change, so many inconsistencies sometimes I had no idea what on earth was happening.

Secondly, the plot goes from 0 to 100 back to 0 and then back to 90 within 100 pages. It feels like there WAS an idea for a story, but it’s buried in the authors apparently insecurities in her own writing. Important scenes were skipped and glossed over, with silly food scenes drawn out and expanded upon.

This book bills itself on the hot sex, but I couldn’t even find any lukewarm copulation. I’d believe you if you told me that the sex was described by someone who has never had sex before, but has watched a wee bit too much porn.

Most erroneously, this is almost nearly a copy paste of QTK. If you wrote down the main plot points of each book, they line up almost PERFECTLY.

Main character’s mother killed by monsters ✅
Girl has to go on the run for years ✅
Is told she’s royalty ✅
Protectors (Knights) find her and become what basically amounts to her sex slaves ✅
Polyamory ✅
Blood is special and a big deal ✅

There are a couple other reviews that do a better job than I do of explaining the similarities and they are all 100% accurate.

I also did some digging and spoke to some people who interact with Scarlett on a daily basis, and they said she actually READ QTK shortly before she wrote this dumpster fire. For already having the whole plot set out for her, knowing where it’s going to go, and copying the details down to the finest minutiae, my 8 year old sister could do a better job with the editing, grammar, and pacing.

I hope that Joely realizes what Miss Snow has done and takes appropriate legal action.

The Queen’s Protectors by Scarlett Snow are the first book that I have read by this author and I practically devoured this book. The author introduces us to intense drama, steamy scenes, and some deliciously amazing characters. Violet is a vampire/shifter hybrid. Her mother has just been murdered, and now Violet is ushered into assuming her mother’s role and finding her true place as Queen. But it won’t be easy. With the demise of her mother, the spell of protection will soon fade from around Violet and assassins will be on the prowl looking for her to end her life. Now she must find her protectors and stay a step ahead of those who wish to see her dead and their dark secrets kept from the light. This should be fun…
The Queen’s Protectors are a steamy reverse harem that will have you panting for more. Violet and the men that she begins to claim to make the pages heat up non-stop! Right from the beginning, I was hit with danger and drama as Violet comes up her mother mere seconds after her death. The author keeps me in a whirlwind of emotions with this book. I feel Violet’s pain and anger at the destruction of her mother’s life, but then I’m cast from side to side with how quickly Violet shoves the loss away and loses herself in the hedonism of her claiming her men and enjoying them. I’m delighted with the quick balance that the men strike up within themselves. I am pleased that there is no infighting and one trying to one-up the others to claim the Alpha position. I applaud Violet for making it plain from the beginning that all will get equal attention.
The only thing that I don’t like about this book is being left in the dark about a couple of situations. LOL! I want to know what happened!! I’m sure that one scene will come back to be fully played out in another book, but I was hoping that the author would follow up with the Kitsune. Other than that I am pleased to say that this book has been well edited and has few to no editorial errors.
I am more than eager for more of Violet, her men and to learn what happens next in their story. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you love a good steamy reverse harem paranormal romance then this book is a must read! With alternating chapters on each character, you’ll be more than pleased with this steamy novel.

Lolololol okay so this shit was wrecked. I love me some smutty gloriousness, LOVE IT, so don’t get it twisted that I’m bashing this for basically being erotica with some light plotting. That would be fine if there were some baseline logic at play here or even minimal character development but like...nah.

**
contains spoilers but I promise none of it matters
**

Ya girl finds her mom’s head ripped off and is like, ugh, this sucks, then leaves and gets up on her manmeat/bodyguard/lovah who, from the way it is explained, basically raised her? So you know...side eyeing that shit.

Then he drops a bomb that she’s some type of “queen” bc of course, there’s mysterious other “royals” that want her dead etc etc. Vampires and shifters are involved but that’s honestly irrelevant.

So she must line up some fuck buddies to protect her. Within about seven minutes she has grabbed her second one (weird bodyguard was the first) from her dead mom’s house where some sort of security operation is run but we don’t find out much about it bc it straight up doesn’t matter. Cue sexytimes. Fine.

About forty seconds later this whole thing goes way off the rails and she picks up a manboy literally off the street. He’s got the maturity of a teenager and they treat him like a kid EXCEPT when they all go to bone town and IT IS A NO. This shit is out of order.

Anyway the plot sort of fizzles there so the author decided to make my fucking night and HAVE THE HEROINE GET EATEN BY A SHARK AHAHAHAHA.

Okay not really but nothing was happening with the story so they went to the beach and she dipped her bloody toe in the ocean and a great white literally jumps up and drags her away. I have not been so happy since they added Golden Girls to Hulu.

Sadly nothing comes of this either. One of the dudes goes down to find her and talks to some mermaids who are like “nah brah not our shark” so he goes back to the beach and she’s back. Just chillin.

But yeah the rest is just as useless. Moral of the story should probably be “stop using blood as lube” or maybe “stop creeping” but there’s barely enough material to warrant having a moral so whatevs. She quickly and easily ascends to this whole queen thing and that’s that. Would have preferred the shark ending meself but we can’t always get what we want.

First and foremost, I absolutely loved this book! I always enjoy reading BDSM but I’ve never read one quite like this which is refreshing. There comes a time when you feel like the BDSM stories are just repeated over and over again by different authors but that is not the case here.

Violet is our Domme in this story and her harem consists of Ronan, Kaleo, and Elliot. Ronan is the Alpha while Elliot is the omega. Violet and Ronan were actually already together when this story started and Kaleo and Elliot were added as the story continued which I enjoyed since it isn’t something that usually happens in reverse harems.

This story had plenty of steamy sex and lots of MMF and MM! Even though this story had a lot of hot sex that made me drool, it still didn’t overshadow the plot of the story. I know some people struggle with the idea of instant love so I feel this is worth mentioning. When Violet met Kaleo and Elliot for the first time, there was an instant connect between them but the words “love” were never used to describe it. The way the author explained the idea of the Queen’s protectors makes the concept believable and helped me as a reader accept this instant connection with Violet and the other men.

This book has done an excellent job setting up our characters, establishing their relationships, building this supernatural world, and creating an intriguingly dramatic plot. I cannot wait to read more of Mistress Violet and her men! I am really hoping that Violet will gain a few more men in her Harem as the series continues. 🤞🏼 It will be interesting to see where Violet’s journey takes her. We’ve been given little snippets of information throughout this book that will surely be explained in more detail as this series continues, like the underwater city. Great job to the author.

The Queen's Protectors
A Throne of Blood, Book 1
By: Scarlett Snow
Narrated by: Ashley Taylor

This is one smoking hot listen! It is an enjoyable and entertaining story. Great for anyone who likes a some kinky BDSM included in their paranormal romance stories. Scarlet Snow created this great imaginative world of shifters and vampires. The storylines and the world dynamics of the shifters are interesting. The story is fast paced and sucks you right in. It starts with Violet, a hybrid, who is part shifter and part vampire, finding her mother murdered. She then learns of who she really is, she was a princess under a protective spell by her Mother the Queen. With her mother’s death she is now the Queen. Ronan her long time protector and lover has known this day was coming and Violet will no longer be just hers. Violet sets out determined to find out who murdered her mother and finds her other protectors along the way, Kaleo and Elliot. I loved the chemistry between Victoria and her protectors, also loved how the three men accepted each other in the RH type relationship, Alpha, Beta, Omega. It is great to have a story where the lead female is a determined, strong willed and minded person and a kind hearted one. This story offers drama, action, twists, a bit of suspense and some great hot scenes, some are polyamorous and include MF, MFM & MM action. Scarlett Snow, thank you for this great story, looking forward to your next one!!

I listened to the Audible edition performed by Ashley Taylor. She is an excellent voice performer and storyteller. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality, does a great job with the accents too! Thanks for another great and entertaining listen🎧.

The Queen’s Protectors – Scarlett Snow

A reverse harem vampire/shifter affair with twisty plot points you wont see coming!
Let’s meet the crew!

Violet Sinclaire: Our FMC. A hybrid Vampire/Shifter with a wicked sense of humour and an attitude to match. She is destined for great things!

Ronan: Violet’s Protector, long-time friend and lover. He is the Alpha of the Protector’s group and also a vampire, so the sultry, sexy factor notches the heat up in all his interactions and his relationship with Violet kicks up to the extremely hot and sensual level!

Kaleo: Newly acquired Protector and lover. He’s a shifter of the yet unknow variety (to Violet) but all clues point to something feline! He’s massive hulk and graceful movement all in one cuddly and endearing package. He worships the ground that Violet walks upon!

Elliot: The final and newest Protector. He’s the youngest of the crew at twenty-something! He is a Wolf shifter and the cutest, most innocent and sweet natured in the group. He is totally enamoured of Violet and quickly falls under her spell. Totally love-struck. He is a gifted lover despite his youthfulness.

The story is fast paced and the steamy scenes are well written as I have come to expect from this author. The plot is twisty with a few unexpected turns that I’m sure will develop later in the series.

This is definitely an 18+ read as it contains scenes with subject matter that may be classified as taboo – blood/MM/group sex and BDSM

I thought it was fabulous and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I gave this one five stars!

Oh My Wow! Amazing!
I'm not normally one to read paranormal type books but sometimes they catch my interest and this book is one of the best i've read. It ends a bit on a cliff hanger because nothing is quite resolved, but Violet has formed her - I wanna say army, but they are so much more than that. I am sure the next book will lead them into the battle that must take place for Violet to Reign as Queen. Violet is such a strong heroine, she rarely lets down her defenses, and she pushes forward through all of the pain and grief. This book is heavy on the sex scenes but still has a strong plot, it also has BDSM, MM, ana MFM Scenes.

The Audio by Ashley Taylor was amazing. There were many different accents, English, Irish/Scottish, New York(ish), Midwestern, but they were all really well done, and none sounded overly played or fake. A very strong audio performance.

Violet is a half shifter half vampire. Her existence is forbidden. No one in their supernatural world was allowed to cross breeds. But she is more than that. She is Daughter to a King, and now that her father has been killed she is the New Queen of the shadow world. The books starts off with her mother being murdered. Until this point Violet did not know who she truly was, she only knows that her existence must be hidden. She swears to avenge her mother's murder and sets off to find out who had her killed. Along the way Violet must find her protectors as they will be her shield and armour in battle.

Let me first talk about the overall book. This was Scarlett's first RH book and I think she did a good job with setting up the relationships and world for this series. I will say it is very similar to another series, but I think she made it different enough for me so its not a huge problem. I think the sexiness/BDSM aspect helps distinguish between the series. I have to say I fell for Elliott and Kaleo when reading the book and that changed after listening to the audiobook. I would recommend the book and am interested to see how it changes now that it will be cowritten with Loxley Savage. Great job on the book, Scarlett!

In terms of the audiobook, I unfortunately didn't love it as much as I had hoped I would 😢😢😢. I thought Ashley did a great job for her portrayal of Violet and I would have given her a 4 star review if she only did Violet's voice. It was her male character narration that made it difficult for me to enjoy this audiobook. I think her voice for Elliott was good and ok for Ronan but Kaleo's voice really made it hurt to listen. Its not how I heard Kaleo in my head and it made me want to fast forward when it was his turn. I don't mean to be harsh, its my honest feeling when listening. I will definitely continue to read this series but I unfortunately won't listen to another one if Ashley keeps her voice the same for Kaleo.

One exiled queen. Three sworn protectors. A river of blood and vengeance.

Living in exile since birth, Violet Sinclaire should never have been born. She is a half-blood descendent of royalty, and her existence was forbidden by the ancient immortals long ago. Now, the royals want her dead.

As the one true queen of the shadow world, Violet has sworn to take back her throne and avenge her mother's murder at any cost. First, she must choose her warriors, for they are her shields in battle; the armor that will keep her safe from the royal assassins. Determined that a half-breed will never own the throne, the royals have called for her blood. Little do they know that Violet has blood cravings of her own, and she's coming for them.

A Throne of Blood is a reverse-harem fantasy romance series, and Mistress Violet is a queen with whom to be reckoned. This series contains graphic scenes of BDSM as well as MF, MFM, and MM+. This audiobook might not be your cup of tea, but you have been warned. Enter at your own risk.

This book is action packed and I loved every minute of it. This book sex scenes were very eloquently written, however it is for the open minded. But truly this is a great story line and Ashley Taylor did an excellent job at bringing this book to life! It's definitely worth a try! Can't wait for book 2!

Audio review:

This reverse harem story by new to me author Scarlet Snow definitely was an attention grabber and great series introduction. It is one of my new favorite genres so right off the bat I was interested after reading the blurb. But actually getting into the story I felt it was really well written. The plot was interesting and steadily paced. The characters were extremely entertaining and I loved the diversity amongst them.

This book is extremely steamy. Definitely a not suitable for work kind of book, or the kind that you'd feel a bit more comfortable reading when no one is around. But only because some of the scenes get very descriptive and in-depth. However I was a big fan. This narrator was also new to me and I've got to say I'm a huge fan. Ashley Taylor was able to pull off the different voices and tones for the different characters very well. And I feel like she did really good at distinguishing her male from female voices without it being over-the-top.

I wouldn't hesitate to read more from this author and hope there are more coming soon in this series. I also plan to listen to more by this narrator. She really impressed me and I would love to hear her in some other genres too.

Can we just make it known that Elliot, stole the show and is my absolute favorite and i want to buy that omega alllllllllllllll the flipping donuts and waffles!

This story is the first Reverse Harem books i have actually enjoyed. Violet understands the need to spread her time equally and let me tell you those scenes were getting so hot i had to stop a few times and giggle to myself! Scarlett from the beginning lets the readers jump in with 2 feet but does it in a way that keeps you afloat and wanting more. I was super scared in the beginning that there was going to be a hole in the background between Violet and Ronan but there wasn't as the story is told their story unfolds and its beautiful. Kaleo is at least in my opinion is as much as a sassy puppy as Elliot. Each character differs from each other but they all have to need to protector whether its Queen Violet over her people or her protectors over her! There is so much story that is left to be told and i can not wait to be hop on the next ride! #LongLiveTheQueen

Holy hot reverse harem, Batman! This audiobook was scorching hot. I needed a cold drink during and after, it was that good. I highly suggest earbuds for this listen unless your brave like that in which case, you go girl! Or guy lol. This story was hot, exciting...in several ways, and so well done. I enjoyed the story and it hooked me from the start. I loved Queen Violet and the strength she had. Her protectors Elliot, Ronan, and Kaleo were beyond swoon worthy. Their protectiveness and devotion to Queen Violet left me in a constant puddle of swoon. And sweet Jesus this story is HAWT! Their chemistry and connection sizzled and popped the whole time. This audiobook had everything: MM, MMF, MMMF, and MF. Seriously, this. Was. Hot!

Narration was performed by Ashley Taylor and she did an amazing job. Each character was distinct, the flow was just right, and her voice was lovely. I need more of her narrations in my audio-life. Really looking forward to the next book in the series. 5 Stars.

"Indeed I wasn’t able to save my mother, but hell if I can’t avenge her."

Well, Violet sure is. From sinfully wicked New York club to Italy's lush, decadent ballroom, Violet is burning with the need to avenge her mother's death. She will stop at nothing to take back that throne that was denied to her and unravel the identity of her mother's killer. To get through all of this, she must enlist the help of her protectors and find the others to fulfill her destiny.

The author and her brand of writing is new to me, and as I read through this book, I know that this is another series I'll be looking forward to. Violet is a clear dominant figure in this story, but this is not to say that the guys; Ronan, Kaleo and Elliot are not strong type either. Their relationship with each other is well balanced which makes for good chemistry that is very evident in the book. This is one dark and steamy read you can sink your teeth into and love every moment of it.

I felt like I was reading a poorly written fanfiction of Joely Sue Burkhart's Queen Takes Knights. The plot is very similar, only this book has boring characters with no real personalities and the plot is rushed and has no logic in it.
There are no consequences to the events that happen. For example, Violet wants to help the kitsune's family but somehow forgets about this completely and it is never mentioned again. The same thing happens with the shark-shifter or whatever he is; they just forget about him.
Elliot is the only reason why I'm giving this book two stars and not one star. He is the only character we get any meaningful background information about. He is also the only one whose death would have made me a little sad, all the others I couldn't care less about.

Ohhhhhhh ok. Do not listen to this one without headphones!!!! No. Seriously. I mean it. It is just, wow. Hot. Its my first m/m, m/m/f book and I just loved it. There is a story in amongst all the hotness, and it actually is rather good. The world that is built is great and I like the differences from the lore others use. I liked the characters and I really care what happens to them.

Being honest the English female voice grated on me to start with, I was worried I wouldn't be able to listen all the way through. But then the American voice kicked in and I was blown away. This was the same narrator. I've never heard such good changes between accents. Its my first time listening to Ashley Taylor, this performance is just brilliant and really brought the book to life. I will definitely listen to her again.

Heat scale = FIRE!

Ok, let me just get this out of the way first, this book’s romance was fire level hot!!! Each scene was better than the previous one on the heat scale and the jealously of Violet was real! Lol. However with that said, if descriptive steamy time isn’t your thing then this book probably isn’t for you.

Now that, that is out of the way let me tell how much I loved the story! I like reading RH, but sometimes they aren’t done well or the whole relationship thing seems to occur for an odd reason. This is not the case here. Violet needs her protectors in this dangerous world so she can take back the throne that was stolen from her family. The writing is superb and I seriously hope there will be more books in this series!!

This is the first book in A Throne of Blood Series. This is a very steamy erotic reverse-harem fantasy romance! Earbuds required! Queen Violet's quest is captivating, suspenseful, and hot! The story is well written, with multiple POVs from Violet and her protectors, Ronan, Kaleo and Elliot. Violet is a strong and dominant woman. The world building is well developed, and interesting. The storyline has really steamy scenes MF, MMF, MMMF, and MM. I would love to listen to the next book in the Series to know what happens next. Ashley Taylor did an amazing and outstanding job with the narration. All characters were easy to distinguish. The quality audio is perfect. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.

Audiobook Review

1st time I am ok with a clifhanger

The clifhanger was just perfect as it hints for what's to come but it won't leave you cussing the author.

author Scarlett Snow wrote a Queen's discovery of her heritage on this Mega Steamy story Beware headphones // earphones are a must!!

also a HUGE commandment to our narrator she outdid herself playing several characters!! how she acomplisshed making each unique is mind blowing.

there's light BDSM themes and mentions of playrooms, this is a MMMF so be ready for that adventure. I will mention this was more sexy times than story however it was right on the edge before getting over played so We get enough story to keeps ready for book 2 and hotness to make you blush.
