All The Way Home

They thought love was hard enough, they didn't plan for war.

Tavish

I’ve watched her slowly destroy herself since the moment I found her walking home alone when we were sixteen. I said I would just be a friend, but when I fell in love instead I joined the army, moved away, and didn’t look back.

That is until I find myself calling her up days before I head overseas. Seeing her again may have been a mistake, because now I won’t let her go. Especially when I find her with a split lip and college acceptance papers. Last time I was weak. This time, I won’t back down.

Juliette

Tavish has always been the one for me, but as damaged as I am, I’ve never been good enough for him. When he left to join the army, I figured he was finally done with me for good. Then he came back and rescued me, again, right before he left for the war.

When he gets home from Afghanistan, though, everything has changed.

This time, he might need me to rescue him.

All The Way Home is a Canadian-based military love story, the first in the Way Home series but is a stand-alone with it's own HEA.

This book is intended for audiences 18+. For those dealing with combat related PTSD, some scenes may be difficult to read.

Kim Mills intended to grow up to be a psychologist with a loft apartment and 3 cats. Instead she dropped out of college and married a teenage soldier and had babies. No one ever asks her to speak on career day.

After working and volunteering in Social Services for years, Kim began writing in 2011 on what is now the Canadian military family blog She is Fierce. Somehow, that led her here. No one is more surprised than she is.

You can find Kim with the childhood sweetheart she's been married to for over 15 years, along with her 3 kids and their border collie Trooper, making home wherever the army sends them.

Excellent!

I've been following Kim's blog and on social media and have always enjoyed her voice. She is compassionate, articulate and honest. Although her writing is beautiful, sometimes the subject matter isnt, as is life. And i appreciate this. She has a knack for taking a difficult subject and starting a conversation; a true gift. So I'm not surprised I loved this book. And I can't wait for the next one!

Pretty good writing style, especially for a 1st effort. I wish the back story on Juliette would have been more fleshed out to make her a more relatable character. Will continue on in the series.

Not really my usual genre but it was nice to support a fellow military spouse. Mills is the talented writer behind the blog She Is Fierce. This book has rich characters and was an engrossing read. It was especially nice to see fiction that doesn't gloss over the tougher points of military life... even though this book is army all the way.

This book is both heartbreaking and joy-bringing, an accurate portrayal of some of the struggles both CAF members and families go through. An excellent read! I thoroughly enjoyed the the small CAF references; rarely found in novels.

I have always enjoyed reading romance novels, but never thought I would have ever enjoyed a military romance novel, not to mention a Canadian Military Romance, written by a Canadian Military Wife herself , Author Kim Mills. This is the first book in Kim's The Way Home Series, "All the Way Home" and let me tell you, from the moment I picked it up, I had a very difficult time putting it down, so much that I would read every morning and every night until it was time to go to work or time to go to bed. I thoroughly enjoyed Tavis and Juliettes love story , quite possibly because it's so real , and hits the feelings real hard. Military Romance, Friendships, Finding One Another, Losing a Loved one and so much more. Thank you for being an inspiring author Kim, I can't wait to read the next ones in this series. I am sure that If you are like me, and love a good emotional love story, and a good tear jerker, you will enjoy this story as much as I did.

I cried, I laughed, I cried some more. As a military spouse, one moment in the book where Beth had spent the day before deployment bawling her face off... I've been there. I have lived that moment, as so many have. That moment, was written so well, and so relatable. We try and hold it all together in front of other, but behind closed doors, it's hard to say goodbye. Never knowing if that's the final time. I understood how Jules was feeling, that lost feeling of not knowing what this life style holds, not knowing much about any of it. We have all been there, and it does us good to read that and remember that. We've all been that person who steps up for someone in the event of an emergency like megan does in the story. We've all been someone who needs to fall apart, and we've all be someone who picks up the pieces for someone else.

Beautiful story ❤

All the LOVE!!

This story is incredible and stuck with me long after I read it. After reading the rest of the series I had to go back an read Tavish and Juliette's story again, I'll probably read it a third time at some point. Kim Mills is a phenomenal writer! I love how the characters developed and the powerful friendships pull hard on my heart strings. I love a book that makes me cry enough that I can't see the words anymore, maybe that makes me silly but when you can connect to the story so much that you can almost feel what the characters feel, you know you found a good one. I also really appreciate stories set in Canada! Thank you Kim Mills!!

As a military wife, I am super critical to stories that try to give insight into the military lifestyle. As Kim Mills is also a military wife, I was confident her portrayal would be accurate, and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the back and forth of the storytelling, getting to read the thoughts of both Tavish and Juliette.
Friendship is hard in the military, as are relationships. I really enjoyed watching all of the friendships and relationships grow, fail, and thrive throughout this book. I found myself really eager to read what happens next. I can't wait to read the next one!

This is the 1st book in this series and just like the rest of them, I submerge in this book immediately once I start reading it. They may not be real stories but they sure are the closest thing. I love how I can relate or have had friends that can relate with all the characters. Oh and I absolutely love all the characters. I always recommend Kim's books everywhere I go. I love them that much!!! Thank you for writing them Kim. I look forward to the next one. If you haven't started this series, you dont know what you are missing :) Absolute love for this series and I'm hooked!

4th book in a wonderful series that draws you in with real life drama, dreams and nightmares. Kim writes her stories in such a way that you are imerssed in her world. The time and effort taken, to make each story so real, that you are laughing or crying with the characters is true story telling. Come find out about Jer and Jordan and how love can heal. If you haven't read the 3 books before, don't worry each book can be read as a standalone, but reading them all together shows you the strength we have and the family we make.

I couldn't put this book down! Kim Mills creates a beautiful narrative where you fall in love with the characters and feel immersed in their story. The military component is spot on and hits close to home for this Army wife. So much emotion and attachment, I didn't want it to put it down! Looking forward to reading her next novels in the series. So proud she's a Canadian author and military spouse!
I loved it so much I have the E-book and bought a paper version to spread around my local military spouses book club!!

Kim is an amazingly talented writer who is not afraid to get real, honest and very true to life with her characters. As a military spouse, I could definitely put myself into the shoes of various characters in this book, at times wondering if she had secret window into my world while putting her words on paper. It left me wanting to read more about their lives and where they end up. I am so glad she has continued to add to this series!

Amazing read!

I opened this book to read ONE page. I read 70, and woke to read the rest the next day!

It’s one of the first fiction books I’ve LOVED in decades. I’m going to start the next one after a nap, because I know I’ll be reading it in the same day, too!

I recommend it to anyone wanting to see a good romance from two real world characters. Her work to make it accurate to the environment of CAF is admirable!

SO SO good! And be ready for emotions!

I enjoyed this book. I read a lot of military romance novels, but I was curious to read stories that weren't just about characters from the USA, and I discovered the author Kim Mills from Canada.
It's not a book that idealizes the hero or heroine. The characters are very relatable, with an intense and painful journey in their relationship, but also beautiful and true.
I will be reading the next books in the series.

Beautifully amazing!

What an incredibly beautiful story. Jules is sure she has no worth and lives her life fully displaying that image, then she meets Tavish who does everything in his power to proove otherwise. Kim writes a story of heartbreaking clarity that lets us glimpse military life, and the fine line of re entering civilian life. Beautiful story and happily ever after.

I picked up this book that would not normally have piqued my interests (not a romance reader generally) because of the author's Facebook page and website and was not at all prepared to be up all night reading. I just could not put it down. The character development is fabulous - I love these characters like they were my real life friends - and the storylines are entirely relatable.

Tavish feels an immediate connection to Juliette, but it’s a connection Juliette doesn’t feel worthy of. Determined to be more to her than anyone ever has, Tavish becomes her friend, but over the years their friendship wans until just when she needs him most, Tavish is back in Juliette’s life. And where once he was her rescuer, Juliette will now become that and more to him.

You don’t want to miss taking this emotional journey with Tavish and Juliette. Their story is filled with heartache, despair, and loss which will bring you to tears, but it also holds hope, joy and love which will bring you to their long awaited and much deserved HEA. This is an extremely engaging tale with well-drawn characters and an engrossing storyline that you will find hard to put down. I highly recommend this very entertaining love story that will tug at your heartstrings and make you cry.

This story was raw, real, and ugly at times. It was also beautiful, angsty, and hopeful sometimes. The characters were flawed, their lives complicated, and despite the hopelessness, they carried on. In spite of the circumstances, they find themselves in, they do the best they can, waiting for that moment, only to realize, that moment is when they make it happen <3

All the way home

Anyone who has ever doubted their worth should read this book. We never recognise our own value until we're willing to share the journey with the one we treasure most.

Love seeing the Canadian Forces in print. More so, I love seeing the spouses of CF members in stories. While it's a bit idyllic, it's perfect escapist fiction and I look forward to getting to know everyone else.

I read this book in a day. I couldn't put it down. I identified more with Jules than any other fictional character I've ever read. There are also lines in this book that I've said. It's realistic and familiar. This is the first romance novel I've ever read and I loved it.

I found this story a little bit too wordy and I found myself skim reading a lot of it because I just wasn’t really interested in what was happening but it was written well for the genre and it’s the first time I’ve seen a Canadian military novel.

I love this book!
It is written by my neighbour!
The fact that I grew up in this region and know the buildings, landmarks etc made it even easier to fall into the story line.
A very heartwarming story that had its teary moments too.
